Normally, I order take-away from this quaint local breakfast spot. But I strictly waited until I was finally able to eat in the dining area so that I could give a full perspective of the food as well as the service and decor. First off, the staff are SO friendly here! The bar lady who was describing the specials to me seemed wicked eager about a few of them. I wondered if she had practiced that speech in front of a mirror every night before bed. Or perhaps she really does love those specials (even though I can't remember what they are at the moment). Next, we have the interior. Now....a brief background for the non-locals not familiar with the history of this location: In the not too distant past, this place used to be called "Donna's Place", which was subsequently shutdown for reasons unbeknownst to me. However, the general layout is similar to its predecessor; with the exception of the table rearrangements. They ostensibly retained the bar and even threw in a few add-ons to the overhead. Also, just a caveat when you first arrive: you have to use the side entrance instead of the one facing the street. Okay. We gotta talk about the coffee real quick. While the roast itself presents a nice bold flavor, I gotta tell ya....this coffee mug is HUUUUUGE!! I swear to you they bring out like, a bucket of coffee. Thing must be at least 16 ounces! I took a picture of it next to a standard size sugar container for comparison. Friggin' HUUUUUUGE! So far, my all time go-to breakfast is the build your own omelet with cheddar cheese, tomato, and onions with a side of homefries and toast. I've had this combo with and without ham, plus a side of bacon. But I was really curious about the infamous homemade hash. And so it was. I'm still the misfit who prefers canned hash over homemade. However, this one exceeded my expectations. Ordinarily, I'm forced to get used to the trend of homemade hash consisting of shoe-leathery brisket mixed with potatoes, all of which is typically bland. But not this hash. GP's hash is surprisingly well seasoned and tender! It's strange, but almost like a combination of canned and homemade. The corned beef is minced similarly like canned, only with a different texture. It's tricky to explain to folks unfamiliar with hash. All I'm saying is....definitely give this one a try. The omelets here are phenomenal! That's all there is to say, really. Sure, they could be seasoned up a bit (along with the potatoes). But this is the restaurant biz. Chefs have to play it safe when it comes to salt, after all. As many know, I'm always down for supporting my local hot spots. And this one will certainly remain a continual revisit for moi. Therefore, I'll give The Good Place 5 sensationally built omelets with all the fixins and a side of hash out of 5. read more

It's a small place but It's one of our favorites. The staff is friendly and the service is very good. We love their breakfasts and pancakes are shareable. We've been to an event that they have catered and the host had so many inquiries that they made an announcement who the caterer was. The meat was so tender people were going up for seconds. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning and of course there was a line but the wait wasn't that bad. We waiting for about 15 min then we were promptly seated with menu's and an order of drinks. This is my 2nd time coming here and I'm glad I gave this restaurant another chance because they've been open a bit longer and the service and food has improved greatly. I ordered the steak and cheese Benny and boy was it good. I got a side of tots since that's my fav but they have other sides to pick from. The shaved meat was really good and instead of an English muffin I asked for a biscuit because I'm not a fan of the muffin lol. The meal was a huge portion and had to bring half of it home but this wasn't the highlight. I also ordered a strawberry white chocolate chip muffin that was grilled and me and my daughter really enjoyed it! The inside was moist and the outside and nice grill marks which really brought out the flavor of the muffin. We will definitely be back to try another flavor since they change it up weekly. Yes, this place does get packed and yes it gets kinda loud but that shouldn't hinder the fact that the food is awesome. Give them a try if you're in Hudson NH. read more

I would love to be able to say something good about this place. But after a hour and twenty minutes of waiting all I got was attitude from the manager about wanting my food. Sat and watched 3 tables get their food and eat while my table waited, after ordering. The Good Place is a really good place. The smoked pork is excellent, and believe it or not, root beer BBQ sauce is great - if not a little addictive! Their normal house BBQ sauce is excellent, as is their fruity/spicy tropical sauce. They have their own house-made dill pickles as well, and they're very very good. These are good hardworking people turning out an excellent product, and it was quick and reasonably priced. This will be my go-to place for lunch when I'm in Hudson. read more

Had a wonderful lunch today. So The Good Place has been on my radar and it did not disappoint! Love the extra large coffee cup... I enjoyed a Chicken Ceaser Salad Bowl, it was very fresh large enough that I brought a meal home. My companion got the Farmhouse Burger with real hand cut fries, cooked perfectly. We shared the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese which was fantastic, I'll give this an A+. Our server was very attentive and polite, he could not do enough for us. Went in to check out this place as a past lover of donnas place the inside and details to the inside and esthetics are impeccable. It made me feel like I wasn't eating in Hudson NH. There was a bit of a wait which is to be expected on a sat morn i was solo so got a seat at the bar right away. I just wanted a basic breakfast so I got 3 egg whites with sausage patty, sourdough toast and I decided on fries as the home fries didn't look appealing ( plain mushy flat top home fries that plague this areas breakfast places . I recommend deep frying them if you can't do a good roasted potato) they have a breakfast option with three eggs sides etc with pancake or waffle I didn't want pancakes so I order less food and basically got charged everything as a side and ended up paying $19 with tip for eggs meat and toast where as their menu item for the same along with pancakes or waffle is listed as $13.99. Also you can fit everything on one plate with the toast on a separate instead of 3 separate platings. They need to create a button on their toast system for a basic breakfast that doesn't come with pancakes or waffles. Food was good 40 mins for eggs is a tad long and $19 for what I got is a bit much plus they do the 2oz of ketchup in a 4oz ramekin which is just infuriating. Have bottles on the table/ bar. The moment you walk into The Good Place you are greeted by a friendly host/hostess and seated promptly. The cleanliness and warm inviting color scheme is immediately felt as you look around while planning your order. Theres a cool bar with a TV if you prefer. Coffee isn't top notch but hot which is a plus. If you're up for a huge breakfast,there are many combos you can create to your liking. The food itself is as fresh and delicious as any breakfast joint I've been to including MaryAnn's. Our server checked in on us every five minutes or so. The owner also made the rounds to ask how we were doing and thanked us for stopping by. The bathrooms were spotless and very functional. They did not skimp on them like most places do. I would definitely be a weekend regular if I lived closer. If you do live near this place make it part of your breakfast rotation. read more

Went there for the first time. The place was remodeled nicely. Got seated fairly quickly. Sort of went down from there. My husband sat right across a small table from me but it was so noisy in there, we could barely hear each other talk so we sat in silence most of the time. I opened the silverware and all the pieces looked dirty. (I don't think they were actually dirty but they were scratched/spotted/ and really dull gray looking.) I ordered the hash and eggs w/home fries and toast. The hash was good (homemade). Eggs were too under cooked for my liking (I always ask for over MEDIUM...meaning I expect the whites to be fully good and the yolk to be just starting to firm. The eggs I got were extremely runny and some of the whites were still slimy and translucent. Home fries had WAY too much seasoning on them and had no crispiness to them. Coffee was reallllllly strong. My husband got the Irish Eggs Benedict. He said it was good, but that the English muffins were severely overcooked and he had a difficult time cutting through it. This was our first time to this restaurant. We were confused at frirst as what we thought the front door was tha the entrance. Ut the side door was the entrance. Need a large exit only sign out front.. we ordered a fruit cup.. which is not listed. We thought the fruit cup would come before the meal but it never showed up so we canceled the fruit cup. Please..please at minimum put ketchup jelly..and sweeteners on the table. We shouldnt have to keep asking. Salt and pepper shouid be in grinders. That way no one can put drugs in them..yes it does happen. Ketchup and syrup should be in their own bottles. Its not sanitary to put it out in the silver tins. ..we dont know what brand it is or how old.. yes it does happen.. Other reviews here have mentioned the same.. manager came out to talk to us but he never introduced himself or said thank you for your input when he left the table. The restaurant is a alley stiyle seating area which lends itself to being very loud and not cozy at all. Coffee cups are tooo big. Food was excellent read more
