Stopped into MaryAnn's diner on a Friday morning. The diner was pretty full, with most of the booths/tables taken, but not too crazy. While our waitress did greet us and take our drink order in normal time, everything else took super long. It took almost another 20 minutes to get our drinks (she forgot one hot coffee for about 75% of the meal) and then another 10 before we got to place our food order. Maybe 15 minutes after putting the food order in, she came to tell us that they were out of one entree, a special, and then more time to come back with a menu and to grab an alternate order. Overall, the food was fine. I got the Gronkowski scramble, which has hash browns, peppers, onions and cheese, with kielbasa and eggs on top. The scramble was pretty tasty although somewhat greasy. My toast had too much butter on it. I also ordered a pumpkin cream cheese muffin. The waitress asked if I wanted it grilled which surprised me. I said no, but alas, out came a muffin cut in half toasted with butter. The muffin was good, but the butter taste definitely took away from the pumpkin flavor. All and all, we were there for 2 hours, which seems insane for a diner breakfast. We had a baby who was getting fussy and ready to go. When the waitress finally took our card, she stopped to chat with a friend as we looked at her ready to leave. Unfortunately, the service really clouded the overall experience. The food was fine and the interior/decor was fun. Everything had that whole 50's diner feel, all the way down to the waitresses outfits.

Throw back 1950's classic rock and roll restaurant with pictures of famous people and musicians. The waitresses are very pleasant dressed in their dresses that they wore during the 50s. They have Bloody Mary's and mimosas .The food was very good as well just like I ordered potatoes and onions were cooked perfect bacon was very tasty to eggs are delicious anyway.

    Simple breakfast but very good.

Food came out in a flash. Breakfast is always good here. Love the 50s vibe in this dinner. The waitress was attentive to anything I asked for. Service was excellent. I will be back.

    Before we ordered, cute decor.

It's a good diner that gets busy but you're seated fairly quickly. Blood Marys are good! Fun classic interior design (:

I was so ecstatic about my food [I ordered the Lox & Loaded] that my husband Got excited for with me (a wonderful thing after 36 years of marriage)! I probably should have written this review immediately after but, well...life, you know, so I'm not as clear on the details just now But here is the description from their menu: Cold-smoked salmon, scallion cream cheese, smashed avocado, roasted tomatoes, cucumber, pickled onion, fresh dill, and a soft over-easy egg on a toasted everything bagel. Mixed greens. It was a bit messy to eat but oh how I enjoyed every bite! I don't remember what my husband ordered but I believe he was happy with it. While there, I learned there's a Friendly Toast restaurant closer to our home in Nashua so we went to that location some days later, bringing our son along...but that should get its own, separate, review. The decor at the Bedford location is a sort of quirky, eclectic collection of odds and ends, mixed with a 1950s kitchen or diner design (I rather liked it).

Anyways, Crack'd Kitchen totally lives up to its namesake, for every single egg product here utilizes (wait for it).....REAL cracked eggs!! This may seem like a rudimentary feature. But when you take into consideration how many short-order breakfast places rely on liquid or processed egg, things like this are graciously appreciated by those of us with a palate above that of a seven-year-old. So, I had an opportunity to try this place out both to-go and dine-in. Right upfront, I will say the food is far superior when enjoyed dine-in style. Given the distance from my house, I can aptly say we'll be mostly opting for dine-in (unless the dining area is hella crowded). For to-go, I tried the Country Breakfast whilst the dine-in meal was one of their sammiches; The Basic, to be precise. Overall, both were little short of greatness in their own ways. Though, I made a few casual observations. As mentioned earlier, this stuff is way more enjoyable inside the restaurant. Ergo, I probably should have reversed which meal I ordered when. Despite that minor setback, I think I actually liked the Country Breakfast more than the sammich. Whilst the former carries decently well as a to-go plate, the latter could have benefited from some seasoning on the eggs. I guess that's why they also offer sandwiches with various special sauces. Not gonna lie....I am slightly curious about their honey-sriracha sauce. One day I shall be brave enough to fancy it. One other complaint I have about the platter specifically: you only get half as many hashbrowns with the meal. For....some reason. Meanwhile, I ordered a side of hashbrowns with my sandwich and it came with six. I would assume that'd be the standard across the board so....make it make sense? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Btw....I should probably mention the only reason I'm stuck on this point is because the hashbrowns themselves are amazeballs! They don't even need ketchup, but comes with it if you fancy that sort of thing. A few other housekeeping deetz: their gender ambiguous restrooms are located toward the back entrance. There is also complimentary water for folks dining in. So, yeah. We'll certainly be revisiting this place from time to time. Perhaps I'll even try a couple of over-easy eggs at some point. Till then, Crack'd Kitchen and Coffee in Salem gets 4 cracked eggs with bacon and beautifully seasoned hashbrowns out of 5.
