Ordered for an office meeting and everyone thought the food was good. I order the burrimongo which is burrito filling wrapped with mofongo instead of a tortilla. Im actually from northern Va/DC area where I've tried various mofongo dishes, some good and some just meh, so for me, I felt the mofongo tasted meh...it lacked flavor or seasoning. For a quick weeknight dinner, I stopped by Empanellie's. While browsing the menu, I decided to try the jibarito - a sandwich made with flattened plantains instead of bread, filled with lettuce, tomato, and a choice of protein ($14). I picked the euphemistically named "steak," which turned out to be ground beef that wasn't even well-browned. The combination of lettuce, tomato, and simply seasoned ground beef tasted a bit too much like a Crunchwrap Supreme. Fresher and twice the size, sure - but still within that same flavor palette. Even the fried green plantains, which should've added some texture, had steamed into mild sogginess from the foil wrap, despite me ordering it for dine-in. Maybe I'll try the Cubano or the empanadas next time. The jibarito was fine, but definitely overhyped here and on Google Reviews. read more

Brand new in town, Empanellie's offers amazing empanadas! These deep fried pockets of perfection come in a variety of flavors... from the more traditional to the more inventive. We tried a variety to get a sense of what they do best. The answer: everything! My favorite was actually not an empanada, but rather the Yuca- crispy breaded outside, starchy creamy yuca goodness on the inside, and deep inside some perfectly seasoned beef. It checks all the boxes on texture and flavor. Add in a yummy dipping sauce and you're set. Next I loved the Pastelone- beef cheese and plantain. Does it ever get any better than a perfect mix of sweet and savory? The chicken and cheese was next up with some delicious seasoning on the chicken. The beef and cheese was also delicious. Beefier than the pastelone and sans plantain if you're more of a carnivore. For fun we tried the pepperoni pizza empanada which was also yummy. The girl behind the counter recommended the Buffalo chicken one, and after trying the chicken and cheese I know that one will also be great so that one will happen next time. And then, to top it all off, they bring in desserts from Dulce in Manchester. I'm a sucker for Tres Leches anything, and their Tres Leches parfaits is one of the best I've had- creamy, cakey, rich layers, I'd choose this dessert over any other most days. I got the dulce de leche for some extra richness, but if you like a little fruit to brighten the flavor the guava was also amazing. The Latin buffet looked astounding so we will have to go back to try it. Nashua is really having some great luck with new restaurants, and this place definitely qualifies. I've only ever had empanadas maybe on 6 occasions, so I'm not an expert, but these were EASILY the best ones I've ever had. I tried 3, the spinach and cheese, ham and cheese, and Buffalo. They were all really good, but I think I liked the Buffalo the best. I also got a Cubano. It was a pretty good sandwich, but they forgot to press it, so instead of crispy bread, I got just the standard bread, slightly warm.
