Even if you are not 100% plant based, this cozy place offers so many fabulous options. From start to finish, the food is filling and delicious. You'll want to go often so you can try everything.
My cousin invited me to have lunch here for my birthday and the food was delicious! As a vegetarian I was so excited to try Ginger Mule out and it definitely did not disappoint. The service was wonderful everyone is so kind and patient here. It's a casual place with so many yummy selections of food and drinks. We will definitely be returning because coming here once is not enough.
Cute restaurant with great service and great food. We ordered the crap puffs, mushroom burger, and enchiladas. Although I am not vegan/vegetarian, this was a solid meal. I'd say the crab puffs were the highlight of our meal but our entrees were pretty great and the portions here are huge. Service was amazing and our server added to our positive experience dining here. The burger was a slightly heavy, which is why I'd rate it 4 stars. With this being said, I'd definitely come back to try other items.
Never too late to eat healthy! After two visits, decoration + service + food + overall vibes all were met with outstanding presentation, surpassing some of the opportunities they could do. Check-in: no reservations online but the wait time isn't insanely long. Their estimate is usually a bit extra. With some catch up and some menu browsing and vibe checking, your time will be up and ready to sit! Parking is a bit difficult as the plaza is shared amongst many other great businesses (common bond, hopdoddy and many others). We parked once on the street, once we got a lucky spot. The place is super nicely decorated, very green and light. Those huge oversized windows bring a lot of natural light in. Note that the bathrooms smell nice and look clean, somewhat a good indicator right ? Service: both times, we were helped with really nice staff. Soft spoken yet attentive. Ready to answer any questions or recommend their favorites. The food also came out super promptly! Maybe that's a way to help in shortening the wait time at check-in. Food: the rice based dishes are humongous portions, definitely good for a second or third round at home. The salads are good looking, not too heavy on sauces but you can specify this or ask for more later. Most memorable dish: crab puffs! Not my favorite: key lime pie, a bit too jello tasting for me. Pricing: in this era, we have to all appreciate a good value meal. Because I'm taking more than enough for an additional meal, or two more, I'm really satisfied with my experience. First visit for a table of 4 with 1 appetizer + 4 dishes + 1 dessert = $96 before tips. Second visit for 2 with 2 dishes + 1 drink = $35. Leaving satisfied mentally, happy belly and did not break the bank - what a win! I will be back!
If you're in the mood for healthy food that actually tastes amazing, this is the spot for you!!! Whether you're vegan or not, you'll find yourself loving the creative dishes and the trendy vibe. I started with the tostones appetizer and ended up placing a second order before I even finished the first one. Yes they're that good! Followed by the fish tacos which were citrusy and crunchy, paired with the refreshing beet juice mocktail. I was torn with the dessert choices! I know the cacao experience is a fantastic and unique treat but this time I went with the key lime pie and it was so yummy. All the stars to this amazing restaurant!
5 A Great Vegan Experience! The food was amazing and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! While we're not vegan ourselves, we love exploring different cuisines and food options and this place definitely didn't disappoint. The restaurant was clean and our food came out quickly, which was a bug plus because I've been fasting. The server was super attentive even offering a variety of sauces to pair with our meals, a bit spicy however it really added to the flavor experience. The drinks were great as well especially the vegan ice we asked joking for. Overall we had a fantastic time. It's clear they put a lot of care into both the food and the customer experience. We'll definitely be back, especially when my vegan best friend visits Texas. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try something new, whether you're vegan or not!
Such a cut and inviting space. The service was friendly and relaxed. It's completely vegan, and completely full of flavor. The potato mushroom soup was delicious, as was the hot shroom burger. I had to take the guava cheesecake home, it was great. There is no lack of flavor, I can't wait to go back!
The Ginger Mule is a well-known vegan spot in H-Town, and I can't believe it's taken me sooooo long to finally try it! I met up with my fellow vegan (and Ginger Mule-lovin') friend for a late Sunday lunch. The space is bright, open, and airy -- it instantly feels fresh and welcoming. Our server matched the vibe perfectly: kind, attentive, and right there when we needed them without hovering. Now, onto the good stuff -- food and drinks. I ordered the Yuzu Gin & Tonic, which was exactly what I hoped for: fresh, light, slightly citrusy, and balanced with just the right touch of bitterness. I had to remind myself to slow down and savor it! We shared the Crab Puffs to start -- crispy on the outside, filled with rich, savory goodness inside. I appreciated that they were served over salad greens, which helped brighten things up. For mains, we went with the Hot Shroom Sandwich (with sweet potato fries) and the Sesame Garlic Noodles. My friend loved his sandwich, and I enjoyed my noodles too, though the dish leaned a bit heavy -- those fried mushrooms on top were delicious but could've used something fresh to cut through. Still, very satisfying overall. One thing to note: the food seemed a little on the salty side -- I definitely felt it afterward! But wow, the portions are massive. I usually clean my plate, but not this time. At least that meant I got to take some seriously tasty leftovers home.
The food is so good that you won't believe it's an all vegan restaurant! I was amazed by the wide variety of menu options for appetizers, specialty entrees, pizzas, sides, salads and dessert; there's something bound to peak your interest, regardless of your taste palate, and even something to cater to your kids as well. The reason for the one star short of five is due to some particular experiences during my visit. We had a group of six for brunch and was charged a 20% premium for gratuity while receiving minimal service in comparison to any other table. The 20% up charge was automatically included in our checks without explicit advanced notice when we were seated nor when we were asked to swipe our cards. Additionally, I joined the group late to order food to go about ten minutes before we left the restaurant together, and I was still automatically charged 20% premium, which we felt was unreasonable. Given that some of us were unaware of the automatically included gratuity, we all paid extra tips on top of the charged amounts, which in retrospect was unnecessary. Overall, we had hoped for more transparency and less up-charge for such a small group; typically other restaurants have up-charge for maybe 10 or more people and that's usually communicated before being seated. One additional tip I have would be to keep stocks available for weekend demands. I had my eyes set on the truffle mushroom pizza but was told at 11am on a Sunday that they were already all out of pizza for the day, and the day had barely begun at 10am given their opening time. However, generally I will say the impression of the food and restaurant is positive. Everyone at our table enjoyed their orders, and the vegetarian in our group is definitely going to be returning to this location again for the great flavor options available. I tried the patacones, which is new to the menu, and would highly recommend. I especially appreciated that the packing for the to-go box was just as aesthetically pleasing as it would've been served on the plate. There's also option to dine indoors or outdoors, which is a nice to have in Houston for those occasional perfect weather days.
This restaurant is simply the best. Calling all vegans and non vegans. The food is that good that you will appreciate just how fresh and essentially farm to table that it is. It represents how food should be prepared and presented. The dishes are a work of art and the flavors are insane. Sitting on their beautiful patio on a beautiful day is just icing on the perfect cake. The menu is quite diverse and it motivate you to keep coming back for more. I cannot remember our server's name, but he was amazing as well. His recommendations were a slam dunk. It is so refreshing going to a restaurant where the servers know the menu and know how to read their customers. He did just that!!
Ah Houston please share this restaurant with So Cal!! Great portions and delicious food. I have never been a fan of mushrooms but the Sesame Garlic Noodles have me rethinking that opinion- though I would have loved more garlic. The enchiladas were hands down the best I have had since going meatless and my husbands gyro was incredibly flavorful (though he got the salad with it and that was only so-so). We sat at the bar area and the wait staff was thoughtful and efficient. Would definitely go back if the option came around
Great customer service. Braulio was our server and he was excellent. He was patient with us and gave suggestions on what was popular and tended to our many requests. I enjoyed everything I had. My favorite item was the key lime pie (no picture we ate it up lol). I really enjoyed the bang bang melody. It was my first time having hearts of palm and I liked the texture. I also liked the plantain dish I don't remember the name but it had a Latin flavor and the sauce that came with it was good. My shroom burger was huge, I wish the coleslaw had a bit more flavor but overall it was tasty. Both the Buffalo and the maple sauce were good. The only sauce I didn't care for was the ranch. The sweet potato fries portion was huge . The cozy curry was good with a slight spice that was not overpowering. I had the ginger flame mocktail. It was good but it definitely needed less ice because it was slightly watered down, and I would have loved a stronger ginger kick. Guess what I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I do take breaks from meat regularly and I will add this in the repeat pile, no meat was missed! If you're eyeing this place give it a try.
I've never been so excited to write a review! My only regret is that my daughter and I didn't dine in. We ordered takeout, but even that experience was top-notch. Our order was ready right on time, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. My daughter is relocating to Houston, and I've already made up my mind: I'll be visiting this spot every time I come to town. We started with the crab puffs...absolutely delicious! But let me tell you, that butternut squash lasagna was music to my taste buds. I'm not kidding, it was that good. My daughter had the oyster mushroom Parmesan and loved every bite. No complaints whatsoever. This is truly top-tier vegan cuisine, with a wide variety of options to explore. If you're in the area--vegan or not--you need to check this place out!
Overall a great place for plant based eaters and non plant based eaters alike! The food is delicious, but pricey (though typical for vegan restaurants, as well as other restaurants in the area). If you're a non plant based eater, you can still kind of tell the difference, but I thought it was still tasty. Usually I find vegan food too "sweet" but none of the dishes I had were overly sweet This review is purely based on my group's view as meat eaters. Some of our favorites were: - Nachos: the portion is huge! Very worth it. Everyone could not stop talking about how real the cheese tasted. - Cauliflower bites: I liked this a lot because I like cauliflower and I like fried stuff. I didn't really like the orange dipping sauce though - Cozy curry: this was definitely the star of the show for me. I added crispy tofu and it was a LOT of food. Some other dishes that we tried (in order of preference): - Mushroom pizza: I enjoyed this, but the group didn't not seem to like it as much because the cheese was very obviously not cheese - Tortilla soup: I also really liked this, but it was too sour for my moms taste. - Cheesy tofu: while I love tofu and fried tofu, I don't see why they called it "cheesy". It was just fried tofu - Ceviche: this was okay but I personally would not get again, also didn't seem as popular with the group Desserts: I believe all their cake is gluten free, so the texture was off to me. Also they use as little sugar as possible, which I appreciate, but I don't think I'd get any of the dessert again lol - carrot cake: definitely tastes like a "healthy" dessert - tres leches: was excited to try this but disappointed, wished it was soaked more in whatever plant based milk they used. - flan: honestly, shouldn't be called flan haha. It was like a thick tofu pudding. It was not sweet at all either, which someone may like. Service We had to sit outside because we had a big group. It was quite cold that night and they do not have heaters. Our server was super friendly and helpful, but it did feel like at times we were forgotten, and sitting in the cold didn't help ;( read more

I was meeting a friend for brunch. She is Veg, so I wanted to find something she could enjoy in this area. Located in the Houston Heights Waterwork Reservoir. It's a group of businesses such as Jinya and Commond Bond, and even a small green space for kids or doggys is attached as well. Inside - It has a really cute ambiance and has a nice bar area as well. Food - I decided on the tortilla soup, and I enjoyed it very much. I also ordered the grilled cheese, and it came with sweet potato waffle fries. That was also very yummy. And it came with a nice aoli sauce. I was not sure how the vegan cheese was going to go. But I love grilled cheese. It's hard for me to pass that up when I see it on the menu. Drink - I ordered a mocktail. I was torn between the watermelon/basil aqua fresca and the Matcha Moijto. The kind server said the watermelon basil was better, so I went with that. I asked him to add a little bit of the hibiscus as well. It was sweet, yum. Service - was great. Our server spent lots of time with us. He didn't know all the answers, but he tried his best, and the effort was there, I can tell. I can't recall his name to give him praise, but I appreciate his sincerity read more

I am not a vegan but I love me a new restaurant! I saw this place and its positive reviews on yelp and couldn't wait to try. I enjoyed Verdine before but I have to say that Ginger Mule is an upgrade! My coworker and I came during lunch and I ordered the lunch special. You get to pic a starter, entrée, and a dessert. I ordered the caesar salad, portobello kindness burger, and the carrot cake. Every single course of the meal was amazing!! The salad had hearts of palm in it which I loved!!! The burger was so flavorful and juicy and it came with the most delicious pretzel bun. I am not a fan of gluten free pastries and I had low expectations for the carrot cake but omg.... it blew me away!! I even saved some so I could take it to my gf coworker and she agreed that it was a perfectly made gf cake. Lastly, the service here was awesome. Our server (cant remember his name) and Michael took such good care of us are really made us feel welcomed as first timers. They also informed us they are starting to have happy hour from 2-6 which includes a variety of $5, $7, and $10 cocktails and apps! I will be back for sure :) read more
Ginger Mule was not only aesthetically pleasing, but had a variety of cuisines, which made it an appealing Vegan restaurants. All the dishes and sips seemed to have been crafted with love, because the flavor payoff was phenomenal and everyone that worked there was so sweet! Our waiter was awesome as well...I wish I could remember his name, because he deserves a raise! FOOD: - Cauliflower Bites with Mongolian Sauce (can opt for Buffalo or Spicy Maple) - Cozy Curry (Massaman Thai Yellow Curry) - 'Fish' Tacos (Flash Fried Hearts of Palm) - Hot Shroom Sandwich (Lightly Fried Oyster Mushroom in Sauce of Choice) - Birria Tacos (Seasons Jackfruit) - Tropical Flan MOCKTAILS: - Ginger Flame (Turmeric, Ginger, Lime, Grapefruit) - B.B.T. (Beet, Basil, Lime, Passion Fruit) We aren't vegan, but happened to be on a lent and we truly enjoyed all of our food and felt very satisfied at the end! Only thing was we went on a Saturday and since they don't take reservations, we had to wait for quite some time so get there EARLY! read more

Was excited to try this place given all the positive reviews but was not impressed. The space inside is pretty small, the bar chairs were very close together and halfway through my meal someone sat right next to me who had a wet cough the whole time. I ordered essentially a vegan taco bowl which was completely flavorless. 3 stars only for the drink which was delicious and came out fast (BBP beet mocktail). Maybe I need to try the other dishes; I was curious about the guava cheesecake but alas I had to leave before the dessert with the hacking patron next to me. I'm open to giving this place another shot read more

Huge menu for a vegan restaurant! I love the fact that brunch is all day, that means pancakes anytime you want them. Service was excellent very kind staff. Great customer service and delicious plant based foods! We started off with an order of cheesy tofu sticks, field nachos, and fried cauliflower bites. Although the fried tofu sticks or cauliflower bites were good, I definitely enjoyed the nachos the most because of its cheesiness and crispy chips. For the entree, I played it safe by ordering the kindness burger. For the "meat", you get two options - lentil or portobello mushroom. I chose the lentil and found it enjoyable. Our friend who ordered the portobello had a bit of difficulty keeping the mushroom from sliding out, but still enjoyed it. For the side, we chose sweet potato waffle fries which were fantastic. Service was great. We found our waitress to be friendly and prompt. Outdoor seating area is nice, though I wish there was a bit more shade from umbrellas of covering. The weather was great that day and so we all sat outside, but as time crept closer to noon, the white table became a bit blinding because of the reflection. Not a big deal though, as we all brought sun glasses and still had a great time. I enjoy coming here because parking is free and easy. Sometimes it gets full, but that's just part of the game. I finally understood why they call this area water works. Underneath the patio are water pipes and valves. Interesting! read more
What a cute spot. Had a friend in town that is gluten free so came across this spot on yelp and decided to give it a try. The cauliflower bites were perfect! We had them with the buffalo sauce and ranch, just like a wing! I enjoyed the Encinitas Wrap with sweet potato fries. It was delicious. Our server was also super friendly and explained the menu well. Will definitely be back to try this place and something else from the menu soon! read more

When I saw that Ginger Mule was open, I had been wanting to try it. I was hoping it was better than the previous business that was here, as I felt their service was lacking a bit. As soon as we were greeted I knew the service was going to be much better. The gentleman helping us was really nice and helpful when we asked questions about the menu. My wife decided on the lunch special with a salad, curry, and carrot cake for dessert. I opted for a summer special shawarma. The salad and shawarma tasted very fresh and had thoughtful elements that really pushed them over the top. The curry had a healthy spice level and was amazing. The carrot cake was different, but in a good way. Overall I was not missing meat from my meal at all. If all vegan food tasted this good, I'd be perfectly fine being more than a part time vegan. read more

Really cute ambiance and so many delicious options I had to come 2 days in a row. Love that everything is fresh and use great ingredients and no shortcuts with preparation. Waiter amd Waitress on both days were very sweet and helpful. Hostess was not so friendly and came off rude and unfriendly on both days, might have been overwhelmed but she didn't smile once, looked annoyed and wasn't an good introduction to my first time. However, her counterpart (male) was a lot better and upbeat and friendly. Our waitress on Day 1 and waiter on Day 2 again were also excellent and very friendly!!! Food Reviews: Day 1- dinner we tried the shroom sandwich, enchiladas, nachos. Shroom sandwich - amazing I ordered the spicy honey with rosemary potatoes. Both were A+, so flavorful, potatoes were soooo good and rosemary was yummy!!! Enchiladas - partner ordered this dish loved it and I thought it was very flavorful, nice size portion too. Nachos- this was our app, I thought it was good but would probably try something else next time. Not sure what it was but didn't blow me away but partner really loved it. Day 2: Brunch For round 2, I ordered the fried rice with Mongolian cauliflower and guava cheesecake and my friend ordered the avocado toast. I absolutely LOVED the cauliflower fried rice plate and couldn't finish but it was even better next day. Guava cheesecake was a little too rich for me personally but flavor was great. Definitely order if you are okay with that, guava flavor comes through nicely as well. Friend ordered the Avocado toast and it was good but I wasn't a fan of bread it came with, little dry for my taste but toppings were great and she really liked it. Overall, highly recommend Ginger Mule and look forward to going back. So many options, need to try everything on the menu. It all looks and sounds soooo goood. read more

Ginger Mule is located in a complex of other restaurants and has its own cute decor and seating. Because it rained that morning, we ate indoors which has a cute bohemian decor style. The service was exceptional, and our waiter was very attentive. We happen to arrive during happy hour, which was between 3 to 5 PM, so all apps and drinks were half off. We ordered the crispy mushroom for appetizer, which I highly recommend. For our entrée we ordered the Mongolian cauliflower fried rice. It was tasty, but it was on the dry end for me. I will say that the serving size is incredibly huge so plan to have leftovers or split it with the partner. Lastly we had the ceremonial cocoa drink, which was an experience. It was with incense, coconut cookies, and cinnamon powder. We enjoyed it. read more

This hidden jewel is a perfect location for a first date. It was my first time visiting a vegan restaurant in Houston. I saw it on the way to the chiropractor. I stopped in a local game store and the owner Dave told me about the Ginger Mule. It was mid day just after 2 pm. I was in luck as I finally made a happy hour! I had already eaten lunch so I wasn't super hungry. The drink specials consist of both non alcoholic and alcohol. According to the ingredients very much thoughtfully paired. I selected the Pink Goddess. It was full of flavor with notes of apricots and prosecco Tito's and sweetened with agave. Hit the spot just right for me. Not overly sweet or pungent very well balanced. Delivered with a flower and a slice of lemon made the presentation beautiful. The Cali flower wings were fried to perfection! Came out nice and hot but not too hot to wilt the bed of lettuce it set on. The wings were paired with celery sticks my favorite. Buffalo sauce and Ranch on the side perfect for dipping and getting the proper balance of spice with cool flavors of dill in the ranch. It was not overly seasoned or breaded. Flash fried just right! I ordered another to take home for dinner. The ambiance is amazing! Clean with a huge picture of Mother Earth. On the side wall by the bar. The sever Eli said they see Beyoncé I agreed. However, I call her Mother Earth. Her facial decor and gaze spoke life and peace and serenity. Before ivy vines hung from the ceiling artfully yet naturally bringing a natural ambiance into the building. The bathroom clean with a gorgeous stone embedded in the walls for the sink. It was definitely intentional in design and decor. It felt as though the building was historic and had been renovated and they did an amazing job! I noticed several people ordered the mushroom walnut burger with the pretzel bun and waffle fries. It had plenty of green leafy vegetables on the plate. Definitely a must get on my next visit! The staff were thoughtful and answered every question with a sweet sincerity. It was warm and felt very safe to relax and enjoy the divine sensation of culinary love. read more

I'll start by stating that I'm happy this location remains a vegan restaurant. The one prior was super delish and great customer service. The Ginger Mule though! Wow. Just wow. I never thought I'd love a place so much. It was lunch time when I went so they have brunch and lunch specials. That sold me. You really get a lot of food even with some of the portions being half size. Gives you a chance to taste a variety of foods all in one. Matcha Mojito (Mocktail) was stellar so I'm sure the libations(alcoholic beverages) are as good. The food didn't take too much time to make and I'm glad they spaced it out with not bringing all my food out at once. Things I tried- Tofu cheesy sticks- self explanatory and yes, they are yummyyyy Sancocho- who knew soup could be so satisfying!!! Warning- if you don't love cilantro, stay away Margherita pizza- actually haven't had a vegan one yet AND the crust was so fresh!! Brownie- chef's kiss I want to highlight that not only is it a vegan restaurant but they have an abundance of gluten free options which made my heart light up!!! I haven't been able to find too many vegan AND gluten free options. This place did not MISS!! Excellent customer service. Top tier dishes. Beautiful ambiance. 1000 out of 1000 you have to try even if you're not vegan. PLEASE GO HERE! read more

I have been here once and it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants! I came here as I am vegetarian and have celiac disease (strict gluten-free), and had heard this place has a lot of options to cater to both of these restrictions! They have a GF fryer which is awesome. I had the tofu sticks appetizer, which was delicious; the crust was very impressive and served with a nice marinara sauce. For entree, I had the enchiladas substituted with corn tortillas to make them GF. They had a savory filled mushroom and walnut "ground beef" filled topped with vegan mozzarella among other toppings, and served with a side of beans and rice. Everything tasted very fresh, carefully thought out, and tested prior to serving the dish, which I really appreciated. The service was excellent, especially with answering questions about the menu. The restaurant has a nice, vibe with good lighting, comfortable seats, and a clean space. I look forward to coming back many times to try the variety of their menu! read more

I am no longer Vegan, but still find this place wonderful as a meat eater. It's hard to find this place. I have tried one or two other times and ended up eating at Jinya. It's tucked away. When you walk in, the first thing you'll notice is that normal people eat here. Yes, I know that some meat eaters feel as though Veganism is just a cult, but it's so much more. And you'll be surprised to learn that eating vegan will not melt away your muscles. Ginger Mule's existence makes being a vegan so much more pleasant. The food is delicious, and even if you don't think so you have no choice as there isn't seasoning you can add to your food at the tables. Service is great. Overall 5 stars! read more
I came here with some vegetarian family members and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The restaurant had cute bohemian decor and was bright and chic. The service was great as well. Plenty of parking during lunch hours. The breakfast tacos were pretty good. The sausage actually tasted like breakfast sausage. The tacos al pastor were good too but didn't really taste like pork. The French toast was also pretty good. read more

For an ALL vegan restaurant, this place has so many varieties of healthy options to choose from. Went for dinner in a Thursday night and had to wait on a table for about 15 min. This speaks for itself. We had the tofu stick for appetizer. For dinner we had the create your own bowl, burger with rosemary fries, and tortilla soup. For desert the tres leche which was definitely a 10/10 must try! read more
