I dared to try a new drink concept .. Orange Juice, Tonic Water and a splash of Espresso on ice It was very good!

Even if you are not 100% plant based, this cozy place offers so many fabulous options. From start to finish, the food is filling and delicious. You'll want to go often so you can try everything.

My cousin invited me to have lunch here for my birthday and the food was delicious! As a vegetarian I was so excited to try Ginger Mule out and it definitely did not disappoint. The service was wonderful everyone is so kind and patient here. It's a casual place with so many yummy selections of food and drinks. We will definitely be returning because coming here once is not enough.

Cute restaurant with great service and great food. We ordered the crap puffs, mushroom burger, and enchiladas. Although I am not vegan/vegetarian, this was a solid meal. I'd say the crab puffs were the highlight of our meal but our entrees were pretty great and the portions here are huge. Service was amazing and our server added to our positive experience dining here. The burger was a slightly heavy, which is why I'd rate it 4 stars. With this being said, I'd definitely come back to try other items.

Never too late to eat healthy! After two visits, decoration + service + food + overall vibes all were met with outstanding presentation, surpassing some of the opportunities they could do. Check-in: no reservations online but the wait time isn't insanely long. Their estimate is usually a bit extra. With some catch up and some menu browsing and vibe checking, your time will be up and ready to sit! Parking is a bit difficult as the plaza is shared amongst many other great businesses (common bond, hopdoddy and many others). We parked once on the street, once we got a lucky spot. The place is super nicely decorated, very green and light. Those huge oversized windows bring a lot of natural light in. Note that the bathrooms smell nice and look clean, somewhat a good indicator right ? Service: both times, we were helped with really nice staff. Soft spoken yet attentive. Ready to answer any questions or recommend their favorites. The food also came out super promptly! Maybe that's a way to help in shortening the wait time at check-in. Food: the rice based dishes are humongous portions, definitely good for a second or third round at home. The salads are good looking, not too heavy on sauces but you can specify this or ask for more later. Most memorable dish: crab puffs! Not my favorite: key lime pie, a bit too jello tasting for me. Pricing: in this era, we have to all appreciate a good value meal. Because I'm taking more than enough for an additional meal, or two more, I'm really satisfied with my experience. First visit for a table of 4 with 1 appetizer + 4 dishes + 1 dessert = $96 before tips. Second visit for 2 with 2 dishes + 1 drink = $35. Leaving satisfied mentally, happy belly and did not break the bank - what a win! I will be back!

If you're in the mood for healthy food that actually tastes amazing, this is the spot for you!!! Whether you're vegan or not, you'll find yourself loving the creative dishes and the trendy vibe. I started with the tostones appetizer and ended up placing a second order before I even finished the first one. Yes they're that good! Followed by the fish tacos which were citrusy and crunchy, paired with the refreshing beet juice mocktail. I was torn with the dessert choices! I know the cacao experience is a fantastic and unique treat but this time I went with the key lime pie and it was so yummy. All the stars to this amazing restaurant!

5 A Great Vegan Experience! The food was amazing and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! While we're not vegan ourselves, we love exploring different cuisines and food options and this place definitely didn't disappoint. The restaurant was clean and our food came out quickly, which was a bug plus because I've been fasting. The server was super attentive even offering a variety of sauces to pair with our meals, a bit spicy however it really added to the flavor experience. The drinks were great as well especially the vegan ice we asked joking for. Overall we had a fantastic time. It's clear they put a lot of care into both the food and the customer experience. We'll definitely be back, especially when my vegan best friend visits Texas. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try something new, whether you're vegan or not!

The Ginger Mule is a well-known vegan spot in H-Town, and I can't believe it's taken me sooooo long to finally try it! I met up with my fellow vegan (and Ginger Mule-lovin') friend for a late Sunday lunch. The space is bright, open, and airy -- it instantly feels fresh and welcoming. Our server matched the vibe perfectly: kind, attentive, and right there when we needed them without hovering. Now, onto the good stuff -- food and drinks. I ordered the Yuzu Gin & Tonic, which was exactly what I hoped for: fresh, light, slightly citrusy, and balanced with just the right touch of bitterness. I had to remind myself to slow down and savor it! We shared the Crab Puffs to start -- crispy on the outside, filled with rich, savory goodness inside. I appreciated that they were served over salad greens, which helped brighten things up. For mains, we went with the Hot Shroom Sandwich (with sweet potato fries) and the Sesame Garlic Noodles. My friend loved his sandwich, and I enjoyed my noodles too, though the dish leaned a bit heavy -- those fried mushrooms on top were delicious but could've used something fresh to cut through. Still, very satisfying overall. One thing to note: the food seemed a little on the salty side -- I definitely felt it afterward! But wow, the portions are massive. I usually clean my plate, but not this time. At least that meant I got to take some seriously tasty leftovers home.

Such a cut and inviting space. The service was friendly and relaxed. It's completely vegan, and completely full of flavor. The potato mushroom soup was delicious, as was the hot shroom burger. I had to take the guava cheesecake home, it was great. There is no lack of flavor, I can't wait to go back!

I've never had a long wait here but we are always sure to come as early as we can because seats can fill up fast in this cozy retreat! The ambiance as soon as you walk in is welcoming, inviting, and intimate. Even if you dine outside, you are sure to feel cozy like a meal in your own home. The hostess always makes you feel invited. Any waiter we have had here has given GREAT recommendations so it helps us break free of ordering the same thing over and over. We have never had a single day of bad service here so we have become regulars anytime we travel into the inner loop of Houston for business or fun. The flavors? My goodness the flavor here in every dish truly speaks to whoever is cooking these incredible dishes! We've even wanted to ask what we can do to even get our dishes at home this amazing! Their bang bang sauce is something you can rave about if you like a little kick to your broccoli. Yum! Luckily a lot of the appetizers are family style but we all still end up battling to finish the last bite before our main dish comes along! My husband has never been a vegetable eater and thanks to the Ginger Mule, we are changing up our dishes at home too! Whatever they are doing here, I hope they keep it up because we absolutely LOVE the food here!! Thank you to everyone here and we can't wait to be back!!!!

The food is so good that you won't believe it's an all vegan restaurant! I was amazed by the wide variety of menu options for appetizers, specialty entrees, pizzas, sides, salads and dessert; there's something bound to peak your interest, regardless of your taste palate, and even something to cater to your kids as well. The reason for the one star short of five is due to some particular experiences during my visit. We had a group of six for brunch and was charged a 20% premium for gratuity while receiving minimal service in comparison to any other table. The 20% up charge was automatically included in our checks without explicit advanced notice when we were seated nor when we were asked to swipe our cards. Additionally, I joined the group late to order food to go about ten minutes before we left the restaurant together, and I was still automatically charged 20% premium, which we felt was unreasonable. Given that some of us were unaware of the automatically included gratuity, we all paid extra tips on top of the charged amounts, which in retrospect was unnecessary. Overall, we had hoped for more transparency and less up-charge for such a small group; typically other restaurants have up-charge for maybe 10 or more people and that's usually communicated before being seated. One additional tip I have would be to keep stocks available for weekend demands. I had my eyes set on the truffle mushroom pizza but was told at 11am on a Sunday that they were already all out of pizza for the day, and the day had barely begun at 10am given their opening time. However, generally I will say the impression of the food and restaurant is positive. Everyone at our table enjoyed their orders, and the vegetarian in our group is definitely going to be returning to this location again for the great flavor options available. I tried the patacones, which is new to the menu, and would highly recommend. I especially appreciated that the packing for the to-go box was just as aesthetically pleasing as it would've been served on the plate. There's also option to dine indoors or outdoors, which is a nice to have in Houston for those occasional perfect weather days.

This restaurant is simply the best. Calling all vegans and non vegans. The food is that good that you will appreciate just how fresh and essentially farm to table that it is. It represents how food should be prepared and presented. The dishes are a work of art and the flavors are insane. Sitting on their beautiful patio on a beautiful day is just icing on the perfect cake. The menu is quite diverse and it motivate you to keep coming back for more. I cannot remember our server's name, but he was amazing as well. His recommendations were a slam dunk. It is so refreshing going to a restaurant where the servers know the menu and know how to read their customers. He did just that!!

Great customer service. Braulio was our server and he was excellent. He was patient with us and gave suggestions on what was popular and tended to our many requests. I enjoyed everything I had. My favorite item was the key lime pie (no picture we ate it up lol). I really enjoyed the bang bang melody. It was my first time having hearts of palm and I liked the texture. I also liked the plantain dish I don't remember the name but it had a Latin flavor and the sauce that came with it was good. My shroom burger was huge, I wish the coleslaw had a bit more flavor but overall it was tasty. Both the Buffalo and the maple sauce were good. The only sauce I didn't care for was the ranch. The sweet potato fries portion was huge . The cozy curry was good with a slight spice that was not overpowering. I had the ginger flame mocktail. It was good but it definitely needed less ice because it was slightly watered down, and I would have loved a stronger ginger kick. Guess what I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I do take breaks from meat regularly and I will add this in the repeat pile, no meat was missed! If you're eyeing this place give it a try.

I've never been so excited to write a review! My only regret is that my daughter and I didn't dine in. We ordered takeout, but even that experience was top-notch. Our order was ready right on time, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. My daughter is relocating to Houston, and I've already made up my mind: I'll be visiting this spot every time I come to town. We started with the crab puffs...absolutely delicious! But let me tell you, that butternut squash lasagna was music to my taste buds. I'm not kidding, it was that good. My daughter had the oyster mushroom Parmesan and loved every bite. No complaints whatsoever. This is truly top-tier vegan cuisine, with a wide variety of options to explore. If you're in the area--vegan or not--you need to check this place out!

Great service back then and great service again this time. Our server was pleasant, provided good recommendations, and we never felt rushed by him. The fried chicken was crisp, seasoned, and not dry at all! They have three sauces available. You can get all three for an extra cost of 50 cents each. Only 1 sauce is included in the whole chicken. Although, I do think a whole chicken should include 2 sauces. Was able to taste the shrimp and pork dumplings and they're solid. The agave butternut squash was what you'd expect from squash, but probably wouldn't get it again. Not that it was bad, but felt it wasn't anything special. I ordered the frozen La Lucha margarita and it did not disappoint! Great ambiance for a group of friends or a date night. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Slightly dimly lit inside to set the mood. Both indoor and outdoor dining. Parking lot is valet since it is shared with next door. As soon as you walk in there's a small bar and as you enter the main area there an open kitchen by the counter seating and then there are some lounge like chairs and several small dinner tables. This place is more for a date as the tables are on the smaller size and the place itself. Reservations is probably a good idea to have and they don't have valet parking so the parking is free. They had plenty of parking when I went. We got the drinks menu first and they had a bunch of different drinks. The regular menu isn't so extensive but it did have a lot of sharable items. They also had a taste menu valued at $150 per person. I tried the oysters, elk, quail, crab, and sweet shrimp. For the dessert I had the basque cheesecake. My favorites were the quail where you get 4 tender pieces of quail and baby deviled eggs. My next favorite was the sweet shrimp which was an interesting flavor since it had been pollen in the broth like sauce. The elk was also an interesting bite the thin cracker on top of it was made from sunflower seeds. The dessert was also my highlight. I love basque cheesecake and this one came with a slight twist for me. They had a fluffy white creme under the cheesecake which reminded me of like a marshmallow fluff. Service was great the server knew the menu well and had smooth transitions between meals. The only real reason I give this place 3 stars is because of my palate and the price value of the food. The food was good but it didn't stand out too much for me.

Now y'all know I love a good cocktail special! After checking out their menu online and seeing some pretty good reviews, I noticed they had chargrilled oysters on their bar bites menu. Say less! Between the oysters and the cocktail special, I was SOLD! Of course, I started with my favorite, an Espresso Martini , and baby, it did NOT disappoint! Smooth, delicious, and beautifully presented with those three little coffee beans on top. Definitely a winner in my book! Now for the disappointment... I was SO ready for those chargrilled oysters, only to find out they didn't have oysters AT ALL! Talk about having your taste buds all worked up for nothing! But despite my oyster heartbreak, I actually enjoyed the atmosphere! It's a cool, laid-back spot with friendly staff, plenty of seating, and lots of natural light coming through the large windows. Definitely a nice place to unwind, enjoy a cocktail, and catch a vibe. Overall: Good drinks, friendly service, and a chill atmosphere! I'll definitely be circling back, but IKTO, PLEASE have my chargrilled oysters ready next time!

Also love the atmosphere. Was an excellent date night spot. The aguachile was easily the best aguachile I have ever had. It was PERFECT. The flavors, the textures, the structures.... Wow. Also loved the sesame noodles. Really perfect texture. The eggplant was an insanely complex dish. It's sweet, savory/salty, spicy, sour...all at once. It is a journey of flavors. There's nuts, chillies, oranges, and eggplant. It feels Thai inspired We got the brownie for dessert. It was decent, I'd try something different next time.

Weird, cause I was dressed in full Joker makeup. Hah! The server said she loved it - speaks to the laid back atmosphere, even though it's a little dimly lit and romantic. Great place for a date night; some dressed up and some dressed down. No biggie for either. My friend started off with a cucumber salad - liked it, with the wood ear mushrooms, the crunch of the cucumber and a little spice (seems like from gochajang sauce). I'm glad we got this cause service was a bit on the slow side - we waited quite awhile to order and then to get our drinks. The food once ordered came out at an okay pace. We had a table of 5 and ordered 2 x gulf shrimp Aquachile. Glad we did cause portions are small, especially for the small plates. Avocado, fried taro, shrimp, radish, and an amazing amazing sauce. Very refreshing dish. They coursed this with the Little Neck Clams, with gooseberries and Chinese fried dough Melba and steamed taro. Very unique way to serve little necks, liked it. Eggplant Stir Fry, Chilled Sesame Noodles, and the Grilled Branzino came next! Eggplant was huge!! But it was cooked where it was mushy and hard to cut into - not my favorite way of serving eggplant but it was good. The chilled sesame noodles had amazing flavors and the noodles were perfect, we liked it so much we ordered a 2nd bowl of it. The branzino was small, but cooked well, crispy skin with a scallion ginger oil on top and purple yams to the side. Liked it, wasn't our favorite Branzino but it was good. Next came the fried chicken and rice cakes - the fried chicken surprised me. I've had plenty of fried chicken in my lifetime but this one was on a league of its own. Sous vide for 40 hours in a shrimp paste marinade, this chicken was literally dying to fall off the bone as you try to pick it up, seasoned perfectly, it was also fried to perfection. Double fried, making it super crispy, it was serviced with a ginger Thai chili honey.. I didn't need any of the sauce cause that chicken was to die for. We ordered a whole chicken, but it came with just 4 pieces.. the 2 pieces of breast with white meat and the two thighs. Delicious - my friend said it was his top 3 for fried chicken and I have to concur. I don't think I've ever had crispy chicken fall off the bone like this before. The rice cakes - basically a Korean Tteokbokki with shiitake mushrooms, yellow bean bechamel, spiked paprika and chives. The rice cakes were a bit crisp on some of the pieces, the sauce was rich and creamy. My friends loved this dish - it was a bit saucy for me. We topped off the night with a goat cheesecake and a brownie à la mode with some spice nuts, a torched meringue on top and ice cream. Both had a sweet and savory component with a kick of spice. We loved both desserts, with the brownie the sweeter one. Overall, a lot of flavor combinations - an American fusion with lots of Asian components mixed in. Even with the drinks - they had a Bloody Mary with fish sauce! We enjoyed our dinner but it took about 3 hours to get everything, and about an hour to even order and see any food come out. Parking is sparse and the neighborhood parking is a bit weird cause of the ditches and blocked areas, just keep that in mind. We did enjoy the place though and would definitely come back. I can see why Jun won the James Beard. Creative and delicious creations.
