Come for your apres-ski and enjoy the $2 beers, half-off appetizers, and, in my case, your married father oggling the milfy owner. Their local beer on draft was terrible, tasted like sewer-water, but they were happy to exchange them for your Colorado-standard-fair of Coors and Coors-owned beers on tap. Nachos? Best $7 I've ever spent. Delicious dinner for 3. 1/3 off seafood. Good oysters (didn't try, didn't care to try the rocky mountain oysters). This place is casual and fun, but they are serious about doing the meat right. We ordered several different types -- Grilled quail is oh so tender and juicy, this little bird is THE STAR. Buffalo rib-eye, done medium rare, gives more flavour than its beef cousin. Smoked buffalo bratwurst is smoking tasty! The menu includes a lot of seafood items too. Although I was somewhat suspicious (Colorado is still land locked, the last time I checked), we did try the crab cake and it was quite alright. All in all, a cool and relaxing place to hang out and eat some good meat. read more

Had a nice lunch here on the patio. Service was very good and friendly. I was in the mood for a basic burger and theirs did not disappoint. My friends had a southwest chicken wrap- she said was excellent and it was huge and a smoked salmon sandwich. I really love fries and was sadly disappointed with their truffle fries that cost about $3.00 extra. I couldn't taste any truffle to them and they weren't great for even normal fries. We were driving through Vail and it was way to snooty for us.....then we some how ended up in even snootier Beaver Creek. So as we were leaving we found this gem. If you are willing to step out of your box and try new things......This is the place to go!!! The food was good and we had great service. I had the jackalope sausage G has the Buffalo Ruben. Food here was decent, not great. Truffle fries arrived cold. Red trout was good. Prices are pretty high. Bigger issue here the lack of honesty. Waitress pitches substitutes for fries, and doesn't mention any upcharges. Then lies about it. Owner runs this little gimmick with specials, whereby he takes "30% off" each special( but then forces and 18 % mandatory gratuity down your throat. Customers should decides gratuities, people are smart enough to see through it. It felt like a rip off. I can put up with a lot. But dishonesty gets you 1 star per default. read more

Overpriced food, and poor service. "Wild game" is actual farm raised deer, elk and bison. Crab cakes were decent yet too expensive for what you get. We came in a group of 6 people, 3 couples, and when we asked the waiter if he'd split our $200+ check, he rolled his eyes and said he didn't remember who got what. I had lunch today at The Gas House. Andy was very friendly and took our order in a timely fashion. The chefs did a great job as our food was very yummy. We sat on the patio. Beef Carpaccio - great flavor, perfect amount of crustini amd arugula accompanying. 2. Scallops - well cooked, succulent, great rec by the waitress 3. Mud Pie - crispy and crunchy and creamy all in one dessert. Crowd pleaser. The OK: 1. Chicken and ribs - chicken was moist and well-cooked, the ribs were a bit overcooked and dry. 2. Elk combo grill - smoked sausage was excellent, elk and quail were good not great, and the truffle fries were disappointing. The BAD: 1. Buffalo ribeye (rare) - our friend admitted he should have ordered it medium rare on the waitress' recommendation, but he was disappointed. The other two people that tried it agreed. The Gashouse has been around forever and my family has been coming here since we started going to Beaver Creek/Vail over 18 years ago. We always make a point to stop here when we are in town for some good game without the fancy, long, sit-down dinner. This place can get crowded and they do not take reservations. Its not a five star dining experience and the service can be inconsistent. The bar tends to be crowded and rowdy with people fully enjoying themselves, many of them locals. The menu is extensive with lots of options from game to seafood. Surprisingly the crab cakes are fabulous. They have very little breading and is many just crab. The buffalo carpacio is delicious. I almost always get the buffalo burger which is cooked to perfection and loaded with flavor. Great low key place for a good meal. They supposedly have an amazing happy hour, but I've yet to partake ... next time! read more

We went with a large group, including kids. The waiter was really friendly, had nice suggestions. Game meats and seafood are their speciality. If your squeamish about dead things, not your place. Got into our hotel and needed an easy going place for dinner. We had no idea where we going, but happened upon this little cabin. The atmosphere is fun and the wait staff can sell the food. We started with a soft shelled crab and drinks. I had a Fat Tire on tap and the wife had a strong pomegranate margarita. For dinner I had the 1/2 duckling with blackberry demi-glace, and my wife had the venison tenderloin with a similar sauce. The entrees were out of this world for what we were expecting. Quality meat cooked perfectly to order. My ONLY gripe was the timeliness of service. The food came out very soon following our order, but it seemed impossible to get water refills or to pay the check. I was a little frustrated, but the waiter, hearing it was our honeymoon, brought us bailey's dessert shooters and offered a toast on the house. After a three hour rafting trip out of Gypsum my youngest daughter was starving and asked for a steak and potato meal. I used Yelp and found this charming and rustic restaurant! The menu is extensive in different game as well as seafood. My daughter happily ordered the 8 oz. filet mignon and a crab cake. She exclaimed it was the best crab cake she had ever eaten! I had the filet as well and it was cooked perfectly! Our waiter was so wonderful and attentive and the hostess was fabulous. Ugh. Salty food, salty management. It's as though a talentless home chef with a fondness for game opened a restaurant. The food lacks the creativity of, say, an Applebee's or a Chili's, but what it lacks in imagination it also lacks in execution. Elk steak ordered medium rare is chewy and gray, trout is near jerky, Cajun shrimp is an insult to the people of Louisiana, who frankly have suffered enough. Complaints are met with a grunt by a manager whose order pad is shoved so deep in the back of his pants that you can almost taste the fecal matter on your food. To be fair, the food was amazing. The chef obviously knows what he's doing back there. We had a party of 6 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Like I mentioned above, we had a table for 6, we ordered many drinks, 4-5 apps, 6 entrees and some after dinner drinks. The server comes along, who was also great by the way, and said that he feels really sorry but the manager/owner said that we have to leave because there were people waiting to dine. We were all old friends and family catching up because we hadn't seen each other in quite sometime. We all were pretty upset about the situation and felt that we would not return. We had a 615 reso and half our party was late so the manager/owner told us they needed table at 8. Last I checked there were at least 4 open tables and no one waiting. We were a party of 5 so it's not like we're taking up alot of space. The rest of our party arrived at 635 and we were off to the races to finish our meal. I was a quarter through my salad when they brought out my entree and with little to no room on the table this was just adding to my frustration. Pressure to hurry up and leave was the theme. I was disappointed we chose this place to take our out of town guests. I guess our money and patronage is worth nothing. I worked in the service industry at both casual and high end restaurants and never would I tell a customer they are on a time limit bc we need your table. The worst I would do is drop the check before they've asked for it. I recognize you want to turn tables and make money but this is just really bad form in my opinion. But hey maybe I'm expecting to much from a casual restaurant with apathetic ownership. Will never spend another dollar at the establishment. read more

I can't comment on the food as we ended up leaving shortly after being seated. They clearly do not care about COVID as tables where very close all occupied and they people sat down at the bar about 2 feet from us. The hostess was pretty rude when we asked to be seated outside on the patio mentioning that they would get the heaters running, but oh yeah none of them work. If you have concerns about COVID I would not be going to The Gashouse. read more
