Cronins sits on a Main Street through Killarney and feels like old world Ireland from the road to the table. It has a storied past in Killarney, being open over 60 years at this point. The space is as you would expect, cozy, local and welcoming. The menu is rooted in local ingredients including seafood, beef and veggies. We popped in for an early dinner and had an appetizer of the Smoked Irish Salmon, which was fresher than expected. Such a simple dish, but it was executed perfectly. For our mains, we had a burger and the Shepard's Pie. Burger was good. It was juicy, well cooked and the onion relish thing they had going on was *chefs kiss*. The Shepard's Pie was spot on. Both were made with local beef, which was cool and extra tasty! Beyond the food, Cronins also has their own cider, which was phenomenal and oddly enough, the only cider I had the whole time I was in Ireland! That speaks more to the hold Guinness had on me and less to the variety of cider. After the cider, we went with a few house cocktails including the Clover Club and Dingle Donkey. Both were well prepared, vibrant and tasty! Service was uniquely local, friendly and fun! From the bartender to our server, they were both excellent! Overall, Cronins is a stellar spot in a great spot in Killarney! When we get back over the pond and to Killarney, Cronins is on the list to swing by again!

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

Music starts at 9pm. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had fish and chips, the stuffed chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.

I visited with family, and although we showed up a half hour ahead of our reservation they were able to accommodate and seat us right away. My family had been in search of a quality serving of oysters during our Ireland trip and took the opportunity here without a doubt. There are several options to order them and you can order as little as three at a time, which is nice since some places only do half dozen increments. The waitstaff was attentive and we even had the manager helping as well, although they did not always keep up with our quick wine drinking as well had to remind them to pour more wine a few times. A patron even pulled the fire alarm on accident but the manager quickly turned it off before it became a distraction. I would recommend Kitty's to any tourist looking for a higher quality meal on their trip like we were.

"Sea bass" served with a nice pomegranate mango topping, fried half potatoes and steamed vegetables. Both were good. Murphys beer on tap for those tired of Guinness. Service efficient but not chatty. This meant loosened belts and full bellies most of our time in the city and we couldn't have been happier! On our second night in town, we were after an early dinner as we had plans at another local pub later in the evening. After a stroll around town, Mad Monk was the spot! Apparently Quinlan's is a small chain with several spots around Ireland, and after popping in, we can tell why. The thing that stood out the most for us at Mad Monk was the freshness of all the goods, specifically the seafood. I enjoy a good grilled or pan seared fish filet, but being in Ireland, it was my mission to try as many fish and chips as I could, and Mad Monk was next on the list! Before we dove into our mains, we did order one of the only non-seafood dishes on the menu, the braised beef croquettes. They were absolutely tasty, and set up our mains very well! We both went with the traditional fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and flaky and the tartar sauce was *chefs kiss*! I will say, as with most chips around the island, the chips were a bit underwhelming. They were slightly crispy and fluffy inside, but I am not a huge fan of steak fries and they definitely could have used a bit more seasoning. Service was solid, efficient and friendly. The space is quaint, bright and sleek. Lots of woods and blues, which definitely give the vibes of seafood. Overall, Mad Monk was a solid spot and one we glad we visited during our short stay in Killarney!

The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. The desert choices were plentiful and delicious. It was a wonderful experience!! The next night we returned again because they were having Irish music and dancers. If you plan to attend this event, go early. We arrived around 700pm, and most tables were filled with a tour-bus crowd. There was one four-top table open by the restrooms, or seats at the bar. We sat at the bar and had a good view of the musicians and dancers. The rest of the bar seats filled up before the show. We had pints of cider and ordered food. My husband had the fish and chips (better than average), and I had the lamb and rosemary pie. I definitely won - mine was delicious! My pie was a ceramic ramekin of savory lamb, carrots, potatoes, and gravy, topped with a bronze, flaky puff-pastry round, speared with a sprig of fresh rosemary. A small chunk of bread accompanied it (largely unnecessary), plus a small bowl of roasted root vegetables. By the time we finished, it was time to swivel our chairs around and listen to the music. Three dancers accompanied the musicians for a few numbers. They also went out into the crowd to show off their steps.

The name "Bricín" is Irish for "little trout" and is also the name of a stone bridge in Killarney National Park. The restaurant was established by the McGuire brothers, who restored the building with antique timber and stained glass. The restaurant is upstairs from a gift shop that I believe the owners also operate. We had made reservations and once upstairs, we were personally greeted and welcomed by maybe one of the brothers. Mary was our wait person for the evening, who we found to be warm, friendly, and attentive. We were also seated at a nice corner table (#14) that allowed the right amount of dining privacy with a very attractive room. Bricín offers a fixed price meal (appetizer, main, and dessert) for 46 Euro and an "Early Bird" special for 34 Euros. We opted to order off the Menu as follows: - Hake and Salmon Gratin (Fern) - Boxty (House Specialty) - Traditional Irish potato pancake, cooked on the griddle with mixed salad and a choice of meat (Don) - Rack of Kerry Lamb (Gayle Loves Lamb!) - Thai Red Chicken Curry with Thai jasmine rice (Eric) - Adult Beverages (Wines) - Spanish Rueda (White), Pinot Grigio, Siegel Reserva (Chilean Merlot), and another Merlot. - Split 2 Desserts (One Special) plus teas and coffee. It was all a wonderful dining experience, when food, atmosphere, service, and good company all become greater than the sum of its parts. And we expressed that sentiment to one of the brothers who checked in on us at one point and Mary.

The upstairs restaurant is decorated with antique furniture and scenic paintings that make it feel like you've stepped into a charming old inn. I tried a boxy for the first time and would describe it to an American as a thin potato pancake with chicken pot pie filling. The scallion and leek tart was noteworthy, but the rack of lamb could have been a bit more tender. The servers were friendly and accommodating, even offering to hang our raincoats and umbrellas in the side nook and fetch them when the service was over.
