View of the bar and loved the ceiling
Elisabeth P.

We stopped here on our Ring of Kerry drive. Since it was a very cold and rainy March, there wasn't much to be seen except for enjoying the scenery from the car and stopping at pubs whenever one presented. We'd just eaten, so we didn't sample the food, but we did enjoy some pints. The pub has a nice calm casual environment to it and we enjoyed friendly service while we were there. I especially loved the maps on the ceiling, which diverted us while we tried our first Orchard Thieves cider of the trip. Great ittle spot to stop if you're doing the Ring of Kerry drive.

Stopped here for lunch with our tour group as we visited the Ring of Kerry. Our group was seated in a separate room right off the bar area and we had our own special menu to choose from. I had a smithwicks beer to start with... ice cold. For lunch.I went with the fish n chips, great decision! Fish was perfectly done, crispy on the outside and tender on the in.. tarter sauce was a tasty bonus. Fries were fine. We shared our desserts, the Meringue nests with almonds, strawberries & cream was fantastic. The Lemon cheesecake was really good too! Portions were a good size, we couldn't finish everything. Service here was attentive and friendly. Great place to grab a cold drink and a delicious meal!

Nice pint by a warm fire on a cold night

Having visited a few times for dates & just having drinks & watching live music, I've always wanted to try the food here having heard from family & others how good it is. Drove out on a random Wednesday night. It was rainy, raw & cold out. Arrived around 5pm and there were just a few patrons sitting at the bar. Sat down, ordered a pint of stout and checked out the menu and specials of the day. Went for the soup of the day to warm me up, & the bbq pork ribs. The soup of the day was potato & parsnip w/ brown bread, some of the best I've had in a while. Piping hot, fresh & delicious and warmed me right up. The bbq pork ribs came a little while after. Perfectly glazed in a made from scratch bbq sauce. The perfect amount slabbed on the rack & dripping down into the plate. The ribs themselves were fall off the bone & perfectly cooked. No fat to it and every bit was consumed. All that was left was a plate of . Service and staff are welcoming and friendly, top notch. Nice selection of draft beers. Stouts, ciders, lagers and ipas. The pub has an old school feel to it. Something out of The Quiet Man movie. Fireplace always going. Outdoor seating in the summer. Live Irish music every Saturday and even on Thursdays most months. Cigarette machine. Snacks and juke box as well. They also have an upstairs someone told me but didn't check it out. Definitely a pub worth stopping into when on the Ring Of Kerry. It's secluded and in the middle of nowhere which is part of its charm.

Street parking with pub atmosphere. Waiters were friendly, but busy. We sat ourselves then asked for a menu. Lots of meat, a good average dinner. One of the better options for food choices.

Tiny, small town local pub. Man, I loved this place! It was the absolute perfect cure for a cold, rainy day in Ireland and I really did not want to leave. Traditional Irish pub separated into two sides; the quaint older bar side (probably about 1,000 years old) and the newer bar/restaurant side, which looks and feels new, which I wouldn't waste my time sitting in. The cozy bar side seats about 20 max and hosts one fireplace that they wisely burn the delightful aromatic peat which insures guests won't want to leave too soon, myself included. A few tiny tables barely able to accommodate 2 to 3 people who might choose to have a pint alongside their lunch. I only saw a small handful of local residents, some of which were speaking Gaelic which made me feel as if I was sitting in an Irish version of a Currier & Ive's painting. That alone, makes this place awesome! Cozy & relaxing and just the place to get a true taste of day-to-day life in a small Irish town. I have to say, after recently visiting various websites; I was disappointed to see what appears to be an Americanized menu now since I was there nearly 2yrs ago. Maybe they have two different menus? (Guess I'll have to return to find out.) The bar menu I remember, had a limited, yet all inclusive standard favorite Irish fares. I will come back!

First of all, please note that there are two Blind Pipers on Yelp - not sure why! So I will leave the same review on both. Its really hard for me to leave this review because I just loooooooooove the Blind Piper and can go on and on about how its an amazing representation of a true Irish pub that will welcome you with open arms. There are tons of regulars that patron the pub, not to mention families with cute children, who dart in and out of diners. The staff and regulars at The Blind Piper are so friendly, it just really makes you feel instantly at home. Its our favorite pub in Ireland, no contest. We've spent hours and hours here, inside and outside, just enjoying pub life. The food here is incredible. I've pretty much eaten everything on the menu. Highlights for me include their amazing tomato soup, their BLT on the lunch menu (OMG, I want one now!), their lamb, Guinness stew, and of course, their burger. Everything here tastes like your mom made it, but with some flair. The chef is super talented and the specials are always divine. We also love the live music here. We've enjoyed terrific Irish music into the wee hours of the AM from The Blind Piper. And yes, free wifi! YAY! Just go in the backroom on the left when you walk in - it doesn't work in the room with the fire place. Another bonus? The farmer's market held here on the weekends is an absolute must-see and full of terrific artisans and great Irish crafts. I'm still kicking myself for not purchasing some amazing art prints. This is a great place to stop if you need refreshment while on the Ring of Kerry or driving by on your way to Derrynane. Amazing. I hope you love it just as much as me!

This place is a great pub! Be sure to check it out. I had several meals at the restaurant. The muscles are excellent and the fish & chips are some of the best in Ireland. The seafood chowder is also top notch. I was in Kerry for a week & continued to return to The Blind Piper. On the pub side- this was one of my favorite pubs. Live music on Thursday nights & the place if filled with friendly locals you can share a pint with. Don't miss this place!

Amazing gluten free beer - wish they had this in the USA!

Adorable pub tucked away off the Ring of Kerry. Been around the ring many times in my life & wish I knew about this place years ago. Tasty food & great selection of drinks. Skip the touristy gift shops & eat at this place.

Yelp reviews can be a bit sparse and dated, so I went with the TripAdvisor reviews. Mistake!…read more The seafood chowder was good but could not compete with any others I ingested on my trip (nearly a daily staple on this trip). The chicken sandwich on white bread however was US grade-school cafeteria level in effort. And came with potato chips. Think wonder bread, boiled chicken breast and BUTTER! My wife's tuna salad was as tasteless. Not good value, lacking taste and topped with total lack of service. This is a place I will not remember from my trip. I try to support local small business, particularly when traveling. But this place really disappointed us. Avoid.

We decided to try An Corcan on the first visit, as we returned to Sneem from a trip to Skelligs Chocolate, and came upon its cheery, colorful facade in Waterville right around lunch time. We were so impressed with this little place that we actually made a point of returning on our second visit to Ireland. An Corcan's interior is just as cheery and welcoming as its exterior. It almost seems like a little tea house, with lace tablecloths and bud vases on each table. The service is so affable and hospitable; I get the feeling not too many tourists dine at An Corcan, and we were welcomed in the typical Irish manner, with broad smiles, good-natured banter, and plenty of questions about where we were from. The food at An Corcan is surprisingly good, given its off-the-beaten-path location in an off-the-beaten-path town. It has an interesting mix of Irish pub fare (cream of vegetable soup which is lovely, roasts and fish and chips which hit the spot, and the famous Irish "toasted special," in this case a combo of ham, cheese, tomato and onion), and American bar food (chicken wings which we didn't bother to sample, chicken curry salad which was actually a big hit with our group, and burgers). There's something for everyone at An Corcan. If we find ourselves in Waterville again, we will definitely return -- for the homey, welcoming atmosphere with cheery service; for the simple, delicious food; and for the reasonable prices.
