Muscles (white wine sauce) with prawns and bread

This place is amazing. We came because we had just travelled here and it was very close walking distance from our BNB. Our BNB host recommended this place - and he so undersold it! We got the (one of their specials) muscles with white wine sauces and the duo of lamb which was lamb shoulder and a rack. It was AMAZING! The lamb came with this delicious dark red sauce and a truffle potato. It was cooked perfectly. The muscles were some of the best muscles I've ever had in my life. We are trying to try new spots around Killarney but it's so hard when you know a place is amazing!! Also the atmosphere was so lovely warm and welcoming. Great vibes! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We enjoyed our best meal of the trip so far at Kayne's. We were staying at Earl's Court House about a block away so this was the first restaurant we encountered, and we really good lucky. Irish stew made with lamb was so tender. Delicious! Beef rib was fall-off-the-bone tender. Also really delicious. The lobster bisque with crab was ok. There was a lot of crab meat but it was dressed in mayo which we weren't expecting. Was still tasty, but the other two dishes were much better

Fish and chips with a side of mushy peas

Came for the fish and chips and a dessert sampler. The fish was perfect. Chips were bland, but maybe that's how they do them here? A bit of salt and vinegar fixed the flavor issue. Nothing to be done about the texture. My family and I shared the dessert sampler, and three of the four desserts were incredible. We weren't fans of the tiramisu pudding or custard or whatever that was. The dark chocolate brownie was my favorite. Service started out great, but then we found ourselves flagging down the server for water, the check, and to pay the check. (Seriously, the card was on the table. We didn't need 15 minutes to pay.) Overall, though, four stars.

Fantastic bar and bistro attached to the Dromhall Hotel in Killarney. I was impressed with the service, ambiance, selection of beers and the variety of food options. I had already eaten dinner earlier but wanted a snack with all the amazing local Killarney brewed beer I was drinking. The Chili Lime Mango Chicken Salad was so satisfying and a perfect late night snack that is healthy and full of flavor. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly and kept the beer flowing. I think I enjoyed the beer in Killarney more than any other locally brewed beers in Ireland. If you are planning on visiting Killarney or if you live there, this bar & bistro is a must.

5 star service celebrating our wedding anniversary!

Stopped here while vacationing in Killarney for our wedding anniversary and had a delicious meal. I had the mushroom risotto which was perfectly cooked, the Hubbs had the prawns pasta (forget the name) and said it was excellent. The best part is the manager surprised us with a happy anniversary dessert! 5 star meal and service!

We really liked this bar/restaurant. Service was a little slow sometimes, but the servers niceness made up for it. We came here on two occasions on two separate nights because we could not find a better place to eat than here. This bar/restaurant is connected to the Dromhall hotel and located next to the hotel with a separate entrance. The menu had a lot of choices. I had ordered the fish and chips and pork ribs. Portions were very large and the food was SUPER good and SUPER fresh. If ever I needed any extra sauce, the waiter was happy to bring me some. My travel companion had asked for some chicken in her dish and they were happy to oblige without charging us any extra cost for the chicken (the dish did not include any meats). This place has a large number of beer on tap with many people sitting at the bar enjoying their drinks. There was also a large television where we watched the announcement of the pope St. Francis the first. The restaurant also offers an early bird menu special where you can get a three or four course dinner for €25.00. The restaurant has a private parking lot so stop by here if you can! The place was very cozy and we really enjoyed being here.

We were seated at a nice table within the spacious dining room in back. The area was a little sparse when we came in, but by the time that we called for the check, the place was full and with lots of happy noise. I don't remember what Fern and Gayle ordered, but Don and I went straight for Potato Cakes with Chicken & Smoked Bacon. The menu states that this is a Laurels Classic and firm favorite. It's a comforting , this comforting combination of Creamed Potato, Chunks of Chicken & Smoked Bacon is served in a Crisp Breadcrumbed sphere of deliciousness with a Creamy Mushroom Sauce and Side Salad. After finishing that, we both agreed that our choice was even better than represented. I almost went with the Pizza or Monkfish Thai Red Curry , and I'm glad I went in this direction. The Laurels Menu itself has good variety and a clear step or 2 above "pub grub". The beer list was also nicely varied, and there was no way we were going to pass on the dessert selections.

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

The space is good sized and features several dining areas and a decent sized bar. Decor and overall vibe is your classic Irish pub with lots of dark woods, soft lighting and grandiose fixtures and dividers. We initially bellied up the bar to grab a pint and cocktail while we waited for our table to be ready. After about 20 minutes, the staff came and whisked us away to a small table just off the main entrance. The table was not that comfortable, but they are doing everything they can with every inch of space they have, and we were just happy to be there! While bellied up to the bar, we enjoyed a pint of Guinness and the Apple & Honey cocktail. The Guinness was perfection, and the cocktail was tasty. The food menu has all the classics from toasties to stew and even fish and chips. We started our meal with the trio of croquettes. They were okay and plating was a bit odd as the salad and veggies that accompanied the croquettes were more visible and focus than the actual croquettes. While the trio was all different, the taste profiles were very similar for each one. For our mains, we both went with sandwiches. I got the Prime Sirloin Steak and my partner got the Ham, Cheese and Tayto. Steak was well cooked, bread was a great vessel, however more sauce would have been welcomed. The toastie was classic, no frills and hit the spot. Service was okay. Not very efficient or helpful, but also not awful or unfriendly. Was odd enough to notice, but not bad enough to ruin the visit. Overall, a fair rating is 3.5 for O'Donoghues. Given no half stars, they get the fourth. It is a good location and is just okay. We wouldn't go out of our way to visit again, but also wouldn't go out of our way to avoid.

We stood in what was a service area, the bartender asked us to move very politely. We tried to find a place to stand out of the way, the bartender came out from behind the bar to bring a stool for us. That was so sweet, just then the host found us the take us to our table. We very much appreciated the effort made by the bartender. Loved the drinks, btw. We sat down and looked over the menu. Decided on the burger and soup and sandwich combo. The burger was really good, made with Irish Hereford beef. It was so beautiful on the plate and tasted great. I got the soup abd sandwich of the day. It was a carrot soup (carrot and something else, I can't recall) and a toasty of ham and cheese with Tayto chips. Both the soup and sandwich hit the spot. It was a beautiful pub, lots of cute areas, I even saw an armored suit when I went to the bathroom. I found the menu prices very reasonable. 9.50 euro for soup, sandwich and chips (crisps).

Cronins sits on a Main Street through Killarney and feels like old world Ireland from the road to the table. It has a storied past in Killarney, being open over 60 years at this point. The space is as you would expect, cozy, local and welcoming. The menu is rooted in local ingredients including seafood, beef and veggies. We popped in for an early dinner and had an appetizer of the Smoked Irish Salmon, which was fresher than expected. Such a simple dish, but it was executed perfectly. For our mains, we had a burger and the Shepard's Pie. Burger was good. It was juicy, well cooked and the onion relish thing they had going on was *chefs kiss*. The Shepard's Pie was spot on. Both were made with local beef, which was cool and extra tasty! Beyond the food, Cronins also has their own cider, which was phenomenal and oddly enough, the only cider I had the whole time I was in Ireland! That speaks more to the hold Guinness had on me and less to the variety of cider. After the cider, we went with a few house cocktails including the Clover Club and Dingle Donkey. Both were well prepared, vibrant and tasty! Service was uniquely local, friendly and fun! From the bartender to our server, they were both excellent! Overall, Cronins is a stellar spot in a great spot in Killarney! When we get back over the pond and to Killarney, Cronins is on the list to swing by again!
