My partner was surprising me with dinner for my birthday on . The food was delicious. The service was very average. The overall setting was nice. The restaurant wasn't very our where we wanted to be seated. Our server didn't pay much attention to us. When the meal was over, we had two doggy bags our server bagged them up for us. Unfortunately, when we got home, my partner was not aware that the tip was already included. Instead of already included in the partner added another 25 to the bill. Go to the Gafford for amazing warm burrata with a unique savory sweet balsamic sauce and blistered red and green tomatoes! Save your bread to soak up all the delicious goodness. Probably the best warm burrata I ever had if not the best compared to NYC Frank! My stolidoli was strong but pineapple infused vodka is always puts forth the island state of mind perfect for happy hour. The service was special especially from our amazing server John who gave us the lowdown on the best sunset at the end of a secret section Riverwalk. The ambiance is great with an eclectic music mix choice and the Maybles fried chicken, mashed and gravy was a super generous portion and truest delicious comfort food to die for. Lovely place in downtown Stuart. We were in Stuart for the night and went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. We started with a delicious and very reasonably priced Montepulciano. My husband had the scallop special which was very good but couldn't compare to the fillet I had. It was perfectly cooked medium rare accompanied by their amazing steak sauce. It was literally the best filet I have ever had. Abby our gracious server brought out a piece of carrot cake with a candle to celebrate and then gave us the incredible news that the couple next to us had taken care of our bill. My boyfriend's parents rave about the delicious food at this restaurant so my expectations were high and this place did not disappoint. We started out with some old fashions which they had a variety to flavors to choose from (blueberry, pecan, traditional, etc.). Made our reservation on Open Table a scarce 30 minutes in advance yet arrived to be seated immediately despite almost every table being full. Water arrived immediately followed by our sweet and attentive server. We were outside on a perfect night and feared a delay due to the table of 12 ordering at the same time. That fear was abated as we received drinks. Soup, salad and our entrees almost in tandem. Way to go Gafford kitchen- Kudos! Let's talk Chow! The Brisket Stew was unique and flavorful. If you have any aversion to fat then skip- my hubs almost licked the bowl. Caesar was crisp with great homemade dressing. Loaded with Parmesan and the added anchovies were worth the two bucks! The Meatloaf is massive and more than enough for two. Hubs declared in top 3 ever! The Wasabi Crusted Tuna has an amazing flavor profile. Janine championed the entire patio with a little help from Grace! Both were upbeat and positive despite a lot of pressure. Service was above our normal experience and epic! Very disappointing experience last night. 2 steak diners ordered medium rare were served cold and sent back, after 20 minutes same diners came back well done. I expressed my frustration to management that it too that long to reheat the meat despite the fact we were sitting next to the kitchen and proceed to serve it well done, adding insult to injury our out of t own guests were done with theirs. Management response was not only lacking but insulting, no offer to remedy the situation just merely shrugging. After moving to this are about 18 months ago, we finally tried The Gafford. We arrived at 8PM on a Thursday night without a reservation but secured the one open table they had. Noise level was reasonable. I think they have limited outdoor dining. Service was quick and the food was excellent. I had the meatloaf (made with three different kinds of meat). It was delicious, but I should add that it was loaded with garlic. I love garlic, but I need to take Prilosec before consuming mass quantities :-) The green beans were fresh, and the mashed potatoes were excellent. My wife had the Seared Tuna that she requested not to be blackened. It was a rather large sushi grade piece of Tuna. She couldn't finish it. Served with rice and green beans. We each ordered a house cabernet, which turns out to be Bonanza at $11 or $12 per glass. There are cheaper options on the menu, with the lowest cost being around $9 if I recall. They allow corkage, but request the wine not be on their menu. They had some daily specials (Diver Scallops was one). Lots of folks were ordering the fried chicken. We'll go again. read more

The soup of the day was a brussel sprouts bisque that was absolutely delicious! I had the fried chicken (after knowing that this is one of the favorites of the house) and can confirm it is a total hit!!! I substituted one of my sides for mac n cheese and I 100% don't regret doing that! My husband had the ribs that come with a chipotle sweet potato mash. Gafford was highly recommended to us.    Wasn't actually planning on going, but so glad we did. Atmosphere.    It's 'ok'.     We were at Riverwalk restaurant the night before and in comparing the two, the atmosphere is something that could use some sprucing.  We did notice it was a younger crowd than we saw over there, but Friday night vs Saturday night so not sure. Food.   Oh my, heck ya, and whatever superlatives we should throw out.  For drinks I got my cocktail...a basil hayden concoction...and I'm not even a bourbon drinker and I really liked it.    Wife got a special martini that she loved.     I also ordered a port st lucie brew after. We split a street corn salad.   The ingredients told an amazing story, but execution was a medium for me.    Good but just ok. We did split their fried chicken dish that they are known for.    I can see why!    Each had a breast, in gravy, with mash potatoes, and green beans.   More than enough for us.    It was amazing. We did cap the night before we went back to tracking our macros with the peanut butter pie.   Huge, and very sweet so that was enjoyed as leftovers the following night :) Would love to give 4.5 stars!! read more

I would give this place 5 stars but sometime the service is not on point. The food is very good and the prices are high but it's worth it. It's located in the center of downtown Stuart and very well know for it's steaks and meatloaf. Yep meatloaf and it's very yummy. The bar area is always packed so make sure you have a reservation. My only complaint is thaqt when people are waiting to be seated, they are right on top of you if you are sitting anywhere near the entrances. read more

If you pinned me down and I had to tell you what my favorite restaurant in the area was, I'd answer quickly- The Gafford. We returned there last night, before a show at the Lyric. What can I say? We started with a grilled cauliflower appetizer, which (even though I'm not really a cauliflower lover) was great! Topped with a delicious sauce and cheesy goodness it was perfect. I wanted to try something which I hadn't ordered before, so I opted for the personal metaoaf. It was prepared perfectly and topped with a bbq glaze and tasty fried onion. Mashed potatoes and green beans completed the dish. Comfort food heaven! My partner had the tuna tartare (which was kind of a "stack" with creamy, diced, guacamole-like avocado). She enjoyed it thoroughly along with her prosecco. I must say that we've never had a bad experience there. Service is top-notch, beverage service thoughtful, and everything that I've been served has been memorable and delicious (Mabel's Fried Chicken, Braised Short Ribs, Steak, Grouper... I can't remember it all)! Oh, and did I mention that Their Maple Brined Pork Chop, topped with apples, might be one of the best that Ive ever eaten? Try it. We went right when they opened at 4pm. We were unaware that they would only offer the drink menu and certain bar-type foods. Kind of a let down, as we were expecting to eat an actual meal. We order the beer cheese and chips. The cheese was really thin and runny, and had an ok taste. I did not care for the chips, as they are house made and tasted very bitter to me. I did enjoy the burger I ordered. It was a nice thick patty with good flavor. The bun was really good. It was served with more of the chips I didn't care for but I just let the other people at my table eat them. Not a bad place to go, but would've liked to have seen what the actual dinner menu was like. We've been coming to Gafford's since they opened. Alas we moved away and now make it a must stop every time we are in Stuart. A great watering hole and the food is superb. Favorites appetizer is Tuna with wasabi and avocado. If you want a hamburger, theirs is over the top with a blend of Chuck, short rib and brisket. OMG good. Mabel's chicken is another favorite. Their steaks and fish entrees are superb. If you get lucky, duck or lamb will be on the menu for that evening. We sure miss our frequent dining there. We are now in Tallahassee and sure would like to see a Gafford type of establishment up here. Until that happens, we'll be back to Gafford's as often as we can. Make a reservation too.
