We had dinner at Boathouse and were lucky enough to sit outside on the patio, which was absolutely beautiful and made for a great evening. Unfortunately, we just missed happy hour, but we'll definitely plan better next time because the atmosphere alone makes it worth a return visit. We started with the tuna nachos and the spicy salmon roll, and both were delicious. The tuna nachos were fresh and flavorful, and the sushi was excellent. For my entrée, I ordered the Dijon-crusted cod with risotto and vegetables. While it was nicely prepared, I found it lacked a bit of flavor for my taste. We also enjoyed the burger, and the wings were okay. Overall, the food was good, the waterfront setting was fantastic, and the service was pleasant. I'd definitely come back, especially to check out happy hour and try a few more items from the menu. read more

Extremely disappointing experience at Stuart Boathouse. We waited 25 minutes just to get our beers, which already set the tone for the evening. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, but it arrived cold and at the same time as the main course. Unfortunately, the burger was also ice cold when it came out. To make matters worse, an automatic 18% tip was added to the bill, along with a 3.5% credit card convenience fee--completely unacceptable given the poor service and food quality. And if you want a slice of cheese on your burger, that's an extra $1 charge as well. Very slow service, cold food, and unexpected charges. This was our first visit and definitely our last. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

Boathouse has a gorgeous view of the intercoastal in downtown Stuart that offers lovely seafood options. The lobster roll in particular was exquisite and satisfying. I liked that they served it warm without celery. It brought me to a place of tremendous well being. And the views on the back deck are beautiful during the sunny days. I eat at the Stuart Boathouse every month or two, so I guess I'm kind of a regular. It's a great setting with views of the water. It's also next to the live music on Sundays. I sat outside today and Lauren served me. She was delightful. I think the kitchen served my swordfish blackened instead of grilled, but not Lauren's fault. Still delicious! Perfect spot right on the water to grab a bite in between trips on the tiki boat! We went with a rather large group -- 12+ people and everyone enjoyed their meals. The food itself was all delicious, and the drinks were good too. The service was spectacular, with our very friendly server, and the overall ambiance of the venue was lovely. Nothing in particular stood out as a damaging or encouraging outcome; just exactly good as one would expect, making it a solid safe play. My only qualm was I was still hungry afterwards, even getting these two items and shading a dessert. While I'm not normally a bread on the table type of person (when getting a large meal) it would've been helpful especially for a large group that's hungry and will take time to prepare everyone's stuff. There was a band playing by the water so that added to the overall experience, our service was great! I had a tasty Caesar salad, with a side of fries and a martini! We arrived in the early afternoon for an early dinner and were immediately impressed by the stunning waterfront view--thanks to the large, expansive windows offering an unobstructed panorama. The meal was excellent: my sister enjoyed the Mahi with a fresh salad, while we had the halibut paired with a classic Caesar salad. We finished with a decadent chocolate lava cake, which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. A special mention goes to our waiter, Devon. Great place to sit... ok to eat. Stopped here on a ride thru Stuart with the family. Prices were incredibly high for the food offered. We had the smallest French onion soup ever. Never saw a Crock so small. Mahi sandwich was good, but not for the price. Was on a cheap hamburger bun. Just think you can do better in Stuart.. plus the fact they had to add a 18% tip to every check really hurts the service.. read more

The menu is very limited and has no gluten-free options. There is also no chicken available at dinner. We were there for happy hour, but they would not allow us to order anything from that menu (which had chicken) unless we relocated to the bar. The windows along the wall have broken blinds, that are zip tied up, so the sun was beating in on the seats and tables and it was uncomfortably hot. If you use a credit card, you have to pay a surcharge fee. The lemon basil martini had no basil flavor and one speck of basil floating on top. Overall, we did not have a good experience and unfortunately will not be back. read more

The draw here is the river. Nothing like having a meal on the water. It's such a great atmosphere. So what was on the menu? A lot of standard options. But we were all drawn to the sushi. Yup. The sushi. We noticed a few tables close by had ordered it and it looked great. So we indulged as well. And we did it family style since some at the table were more hungry than others. It was our first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately it will also be our last. Huge disappointment overall. We ordered the fried calamari with pepperoncini peppers, but the dish had way more peppers than calamari. Our burgers arrived cold and tasted like they had been sitting around for 30 minutes before being served. To make matters worse, there was a mandatory 18% tip added to the bill. Tips should reflect good service and quality food, and we were not happy with either. Paying an automatic gratuity after such a poor experience felt unreasonable. I'm surprised The Boathouse doesn't have a higher rating, as I've truly never had a bad meal here. When we lived in the area, the Boathouse was a frequent guest favorite, with fresh, delicious choices and an excellent location in the heart of downtown Stuart. Their patio offers a peaceful, scenic view of the river (as much as I love the ocean, beachside restaurants are windy--and with the exception of Kyle G's, none can offer a meal as good as the Boathouse). Their sushi or cranberry walnut salad were my go-to, though any of their fish options are delicious. read more

I LEARNED MY LESSON. Fooled me once... Been here numerous times and never wowed. This last time with 3 couples. My buddy and I ordered the Fish & Chips and the fish portion was absolutely minuscule and was smothered and covered over with chips. I'm not one to complain but my buddy and I were laughing so hard we couldn't resist sharing our opinion with our waiter. The waiter said he'd call over the Mgr, who never came. There are so many other good choices in Stuart that I intend to try. Serving paltry portions is such a turnoff and rip off. This is one place I removed from my "go-to" list. read more

New ownership - not the same Boathouse. I've gone here for years and was back in town for a bit and of course wanted my Mahi from Boathouse - what a mistake. From the start it was a bad experience - the host seemed bothered that we wanted to sit outside. The actual service was frankly rude and completely paid little to no attention. The food was cold and bland which was shocking compared to every other dish I've ate here over the years. Oh, and the restaurant was filthy. The bathroom was an absolute mess and reeked of stale urine. The rest of the inside of the restaurant has a new strange smell to it. Oh and to top it off they wouldn't accept my gift card because they have "new ownership" (this is illegal as they bought this debt with the purchase of Boathouse and it's assets - so they'll be hearing from an actual local business soon, my attorneys office). Such a disappointing downturn for what was once a pretty good downtown spot. read more

Our server, Nicole, was such a sweetheart and an amazing server! She made sure to make my husband's first Father's Day special. She even helped us set up our baby's high chair that connects to the table. We got multiple apps from calamari to the Mac and cheese, all very incredible.
