These are hard to find being an old school recipe but making a comeback as you can see from their excitement. Veronica went the extra step to get that hard to get right sky blue color!! We stopped in to watch an early NFL Sunday game and we were impressed with the number of TV's surrounding the whole restaurant. The interaction with other patrons was fun. They had 3 menus to choose from: Brunch, NFL Football specials and their Regular Menu. We chose a Breakfast Burrito, Chicken Tenders and a Bowl of Chili. All large servings and tasty. The Bloody Mary's and Screw ups were perfectly made and a great price! We truly appreciated the awesome service. We will continue to add this restaurant to our rotation. read more

Loved this place. Amazing service, everyone was so friendly. We tried 3 different kinds of wings, they were delicious, crisp and meaty. Lots of tv's and we even got to choose what we watched (tennis of course). They had live music on the outside patio area but it really wasn't great weather to sit outside. We kept seeing posts online of people raving about this spot just over the bridge...so we had to try it out. We sat at the bar, it was right after happy hour and bartender said they were quite busy...the bar itself needed a little clean up...but he was friendly and welcoming and wiped it down immediately. We both had burgers which were very well done. Fries were a unique round thin cut - imagine a perfect french fry meets a potato chip. So good!!! We had a group get together there. It's a sports bar so they have TV's all over. There were over 20 of us. We went during happy hour. The drink prices were very good. I had the fish and chips. It came with coleslaw and their version of curly fries. They were curly and flattened out. They were very good. There were two huge pieces of fish. I ended up taking one home with some if the fries. Other people had the burgers and said they were great. Service was good in spite of there being a lot of people. Plenty of parking. read more

We had a great experience at J. Michael's Tavern, and our server Frank was absolutely wonderful--friendly, attentive, and made the whole meal even better. We started with the pepperoni pizza bites, which were pepperoni and cheese rolled in puff pastry and served with marinara. Such a fun and delicious appetizer! For lunch, we ordered the wings, and wow--they were outstanding. We tried a mix of honey habanero with sweet Thai chili and BBQ. Hands down some of the best wings around (according to my son, the best so far!). I had the Beef on Weck--thinly sliced roast beef on a Kimmelweck roll with horseradish and au jus--and chose sweet potato fries as my side. Everything was excellent and full of flavor. J. Michael's Tavern is a bit tucked away in the back of the plaza with Park Avenue & Grill, but it's absolutely worth finding. We'll definitely be back! The owners really need to get the word out about this place--so many great weekly specials that people don't even know about! We stoped in for our first time Sunday, November 23rd to grab a meal and watch the KC Chiefs game. We were surprised about how large a place it was and how many TV's they had! I don't recall our waiters name but he was from New Jersey. He was friendly and attentive. We ordered a large pretzel for an appetizer. My husband ordered a french dip due to me reading a review that it was the best someone had! I ordered a schnitzel sandwich. First of all all of f our food came out together. The pretzel was luke warm and served with a very tiny cup of beer cheese. We were supposed to get spicy mustard but it was never brought to our table. My schnitzel sandwich was good. It came with a huge portion of potato salad that was very good. The French dip was very tough. The meat had been cut incorrectly. It came with these scoop type fries. They were just ok. We did tell our waiter how tough the meat in the French dip was. He blamed it on them being so busy due to the football games. Totally had nothing to do with it. He didn't really apologize or offer any discount. He just suggested we come back when they aren't so busy! We also got charged for another very tiny cup of beer cheese to finish the pretzel off and it took along time to get. We probably will not return. read more

I had no clue that this restaurant was open already, we accidentally went somewhere that was closed and the next place over was J. Michael's. The place before it was not my favorite so I was interested to see if it was just new management or completely different entity itself. The outside bar area is very unique. The bartender was very friendly and we were talking to him for quite a bit of time before we went inside. this was a great sports bar feel. There are countless seats. The bar has been completely redone. And there are various themes throughout the restaurant pertaining to sports and drinking. I thought it was a fun yet still more upscale for a bar. I understand that the restaurant is new, but they really did seem over staffed for 11:00 in the morning. I got the chicken schnitzel and it was delicious with the lemon aïoli spread that comes with it! Management came in and checked on us. They seemed very nice. The owner was a down to earth sports man. We went here with a large group tonight. We were seated in a nice area with fewer people seated close by. Our waitress was friendly and awesome. I also loved the vibe of the restaurant...TVs all over and lots of Sports channels/games to watch. My only disappointment was the food. I ordered the Chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and coleslaw as the waitress said it was a popular dish. The chicken had a sauce on top that added nothing to the dish... it was very bland. I mean nursing home bland. Same with the mashed potatoes. They were a strange texture (kinda runny) and there was not a drop of pepper in there. I did enjoy the coleslaw, but that was about it. I hope they revamp this dish as the chicken was breaded and cooked nicely, it just needed some flavor. I did love the fried green tomatoes with the amazing sauce, but I'm not sure that would be enough to warrant a return visit. Try it for yourself. So we went to watch the Hurricane game, and the restaurant was grossly understaffed. I get it was a Monday but you say sports bar and the night of a big game you aren't staffed. This was our first visit. Well our drinks took 15 minutes to get to us we joke that we should order 2 at a time. And the steak in a steak salad was over cooked, every thing else came out cold. I got a house salad that was all Romain and my friends had spring mix in theirs which it why I ordered the salad. Maybe it was a really bad night I don't know. I would give them five stars but we went during a football game and the sound was so loud we could not hear others at our table. No matter where you sit you have a great view of a TV. My husband has eye issues and it was perfect for us. We had chicken wings which were delicious and a Beef on Weck sandwich which was quite good. The service was exceptional. You missed the mark. Service is key to a successful business. The place was almost empty and it took about 15 minutes to get a drink, The server was unprepared. You need to upsell your customers, however we had to ask him for a drink refill. When asked about the details of the happy hour, we were told it is a discount? We all thought what does that mean? The house wine was not liked by most in our group. The wings were good, but not great. The calamari was subpar because it was not crunchy. It was a disappointing experience. You didn't make the list for a second shot. read more

I can't rave enough about J Michael's. I had a toy drive there with about 30 people attending to bring toys and eat. They were very accommodating and happy to have us there. Everyone left happy with service, food and atmosphere. This is my 4th time there and having 4 different things on the menu and all were delicious. I've been waiting for this spot to open. Here is my experience. Greeting was nice. Our server was nice, however very unfamiliar with anything?? The wine, the catch of the day, the market price?? We came for early dinner 4:30pm. The sign out front advertised Special of the day, prime rib they were out by 4:30, dinner hasn't even started. I went with Caesar salad and wings. This was my first time there, and I want to like this place. The good things were the layout was spacious, the booth we sat in was comfortable, and the service was really what is saving this review. Our server's name was Katie and she was attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and sweet! The food, this is where I had some problems. We had the fish nuggets (blackened) for our starter. Those were delicious, juicy, and I really like the horseradish sauce they had on the side. The entrees is where it went downhill for me. I ordered the seafood grits and my bf had the ribeye dinner. His dinner was great! The grits were described as creamy on the menu. They were not. Closer to clumpy and crunchy/dry in some spots. The shrimp and lobster were both not seasoned well. It was like they were tossed in a pan with some salt and just barely cooked enough to be done. I ended up sending it back, asked for a ribeye as well and was informed they were out *cries*, so ended up going with the Fish of the Day dinner which was swordfish. I enjoyed the swordfish and the sauce on it, the mashed potatoes were creamy, the green beans were fresh, but had about half a tablespoon of raw minced garlic mixed in with them. That was too intense for me and I am a garlic lover. The manager was very kind and checked in on me a few times after I had to send my first dish back. I understand this place is still quite new, so I'm giving y'all some grace to get the kinks worked out in the kitchen. I'm willing to give them a second try at a later date. read more

Ok...so....a lot going on here....new place, looks nice inside, not crazy about the location. Management seems to be around and engaged but it didn't seem to make a difference. They failed the first test of every sports bar I go to, but to be fair they all do. One big game yesterday and they knew it was on but still did not play the audio. Everyone watching the game and listening to music. Plenty of bartenders and servers but I had to ask for each beer I got. Had to ask for a menu. It was not busy but food was very slow. I ordered the buffalo shrimp. Took about 20 minutes and came luke warm. Finally I'm not sure what they're trying to be. Sports are definitely highlighted, seems like they'd like it to be family friendly but monitors display some pretty crude bar jokes I would not want my kids reading. Not bad I'm sure they'll figure it out. I had 4 beers and was only charged for 2 so I can't complain. Just need to pick a lane and play the audio!!!! read more
