Making the reservation through OpenTable was easy, and from the outside, Palm City Social makes a great first impression. Nice-looking place, inviting entrance, and everything suggested we were in for a polished dining experience. Then we walked inside. The dining room has more of an upscale food-hall-meets-diner-with-a-bar vibe, and the acoustics are... ambitious. Every conversation, fork, glass and chair seemed to ricochet around the room like it had somewhere important to be. I wear hearing aids and eventually turned them off because apparently they were doing their job a little too well. Silence, or at least partial silence, was an improvement. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. The issue wasn't personality. The issue was actually seeing her. She took my cocktail order and a water for my wife, and about 15 minutes later the bartender arrived with both. At that point, I was happy to see anybody carrying liquid in our direction. Then began The Wait. A table of four was seated directly behind us after we arrived. They were promptly greeted, told the day's specials, and had an appetizer order taken while we sat there wondering whether we had accidentally selected Palm City Social's new "Invisible Table Experience." I was sitting with my face in my hand watching this unfold when I learned, entirely by eavesdropping, that the restaurant apparently had specials. Good to know. Eventually -- voilà! -- our waitress returned and told us about them. At that point, I was afraid if we said, "Give us another minute," we might not see her again until dessert, so we ordered immediately. I went with the Chicken Milanese, and my wife ordered the Kung Pao Cauliflower. And because I was now conducting an unofficial field study, I started a timer. Exactly 30 minutes later, the food arrived. Fortunately, this is where Palm City Social earned back a lot of goodwill. The Chicken Milanese was excellent: panko-and-Parmesan-crusted Bell & Evans chicken over piquillo pepper and artichoke tapenade, topped with baby arugula and local tomato in a white balsamic vinaigrette, finished with hand-grated Reggiano and fresh lemon. It sounds like a lot going on, but it all worked. The chicken was crisp and flavorful, the tapenade was an excellent accompaniment, and the fresh arugula, tomatoes, Parmesan and lemon balanced everything nicely. Very fresh, very tasty, and clearly prepared with some care. My wife's Kung Pao Cauliflower was also very good. Oven-roasted and glazed cauliflower with house-made kung pao sauce, chile nut crumble and scallions over coconut-herb basmati rice and local vegetables. Fresh, flavorful and substantial enough that nobody is going to mistake it for three sad pieces of cauliflower pretending to be dinner. So, despite the slow service, I'm sticking with four stars. The waitress was lovely, the food was legitimately good, and nothing about the service felt rude or careless. It felt more like they may simply need another server or two when the restaurant gets busy. My biggest suggestion: if you're sensitive to noise, eat outside. Next time, that's exactly what we'll do. The outdoor area looked much more relaxing, and I suspect my hearing aids and I will both appreciate the decision. I'd also probably come back for lunch and see how the place feels during a quieter part of the day. Bottom line: the food is worth trying. Just bring a little patience. And if you're sitting inside, perhaps some acoustic paneling. Or earmuffs.

My sister and I once a month meet for lunch, usually go to the other restaurants in the downtown area. This was a Saturday. The restaurant was pretty empty. We decided to try it, since it was new. It's off season for Florida. I like that it's away from traffic and close to the river, but not on the river. We ordered several appetizers, Tuna stack, it was good with toast on the side. I would have preferred wonton chips or tortilla chips. We also had the crab fritters, these were delicious and plentiful for two people and the Burrata salad. We wanted the Brussels sprouts, but they were out so the chef prepared Bok Choi instead. Equally delicious. We ordered an infused cucumber refreshing cocktail. The service was very good. The owner stopped by our table, to ask how we liked it. He was gracious and told us his story how he bought the placed and design a menu along with the Chef. That was a plus. They also have music for dinner. Parking is street. The Tram goes around and it will leave you at this restaurant from the large parking lot. THE ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is on the water with bar seating and white cloth table dining in several rooms. If you're looking for seaside dining Pirates Cove will suite you fine. THE FOOD: Our appetizers... My French onion soup was made like a traditional French onion soup with plenty of melted cheese and oodles of onions. There were plenty of mussels bathed in a delicious white wine and butter base for my brides mussels appetizer. Our entrees... My seafood platter featured a small serving of white fish, which was nice and juicy, two small stuffed shrimp, which were quite tasty, two scallops made properly (not under cooked and slimy or overcooked and rubbery). My brides shrimp scampi featured 5 small shrimp over a bed of linguine. The dish was well made with hints of garlic and butter in the balanced cream sauce. The dessert: Our caramel cheesecake dessert was creamy and rich. THE SERVICE: It's always a challenge for a server to serve large parties, but our server did great. Delivered our drinks in a timely fashion watched over us for any needed refills and clearly explained any questions we had. THE BOTTOM LINE: As always with my reviews, the "customer so what" would I return is complicated for the Pirates Cove. My answer... probably not. Why not if the food was prepared properly, the ambiance was fitting for a seafood restaurant and the service was fine? The answer lies in serving size, price and add on charges. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium meal but Pirates Cove charged $40 for a seafood platter that should more realistically be called a seafood sampling. At $36 My wife's shrimp scampi should have featured large shrimp instead of the small shrimp she received. And, finally, the add on prices which included a 3% service charge and a whopping 21% tip. I don't mind tipping heavily for good service and our server would have probably gotten 25% if it was my choice. However, I HATE having a restaurant dictate what I'll tip! I understand mandatory tipping for a large party but I've never seen it set at 21%! As for the service charge, it was placed on every bill whether you paid with a credit card or not. One of my guests asked if that was a credit card fee (which I hate as well) and was told if he paid cash, our servers would take that fee off. How many people didn't know enough to ask that question, and end up paying that fee when paying with cash?? I hate underhanded trickery like that and discourage it by not returning. In summary you'll have to ask yourself before dining at Pirates Cove, is the food, ambiance and service quality worth the rest? If it is, enjoy. As for me, I'll skip it. There are too many other great seafood places that will provide quality dining, great service and atmosphere without the unwelcome luggage included.

The home fries were also delicious--the sautéed onions and peppers added a ton of flavor and made them much better than your standard breakfast potatoes. Tim had the Hangover Burger, which was also fantastic. There is A LOT going on with this burger, but somehow it isn't too much. Everything works together. The runny egg and avocado in particular really take it over the top. Definitely a flavor bomb, in the best possible way. And the $5 Bloody Marys are hard to beat. Great mix, nicely garnished and honestly a steal for $5. Service was great as well. Our server, Ashley, took excellent care of us, and the manager (possibly the owner?) also stopped by to check in, which is always a nice touch. They had live music outside overlooking the water, and although sitting outside can be a little tough in the Florida heat, I went out for a bit to listen and he was delightful. Great music and such a nice atmosphere. My one suggestion would be to pipe the live music inside as well. We would have loved being able to hear it from the bar/dining room. My only real gripe is the parking. Self-parking is extremely limited, although they do offer complimentary valet. I'm personally not a huge valet person, particularly when it's busy, and it was a little frustrating seeing empty spaces that weren't available for self-parking. It would be great if they could reserve even a handful of spaces for people who prefer to park themselves, even if those spaces are farther away. That said, there's a great alternative: the Tiki Taxi stops right at TideHouse, so you can take it between downtown Stuart and the restaurant--which also makes TideHouse a really fun stop if you're spending the day hopping around downtown and the waterfront. Overall, I highly recommend TideHouse for brunch. Great food, good drinks, beautiful waterfront views, live music and friendly service. We'll definitely be back.

On more than one occasion, we have called to place a to go order and they have closed the kitchen early (after being told by the server, they would not close before 10p that Friday night). Also on more than one occasion, they have a bar full of people (wanting to stay, drink & spend more $$) and they bring the check to close the tab so the staff (or manager!) can leave. AND this all has happened during OFF SEASON! Being well educated in the hospitality industry, it's clear to me Tidehouse is not well run from the top down. This is unfortunate since it's such a perfect location with beautiful views.

We arrived when they opened at noon (on a weekday), and other than one other table that arrived soon after us, we were the only ones there until we left a little over an hour later. Still, this place wasn't full, so I'm not sure about the hype concerning the need for reservations. There was only 1 server, who was very friendly and helpful but seemed overly busy. It looked as if a manager might have wandered in and out briefly. The kitchen is open, so there was a bit of noise coming from there. This place is not very large. The food was very good. We both enjoyed the soup. I had the Southwestern veggie, which was the soup of the day. It was very spicy, but I was able to tone it down with some sour cream. We shared the Margarita flatbread. It was very good. The tomatoes were extra delicious. My date had the lobster and shrimp bisque and loved it. He also had the strip steak, which he ordered medium well, but it wasn't, more like medium rare. He had the brussel sprouts and potatoes as sides and really liked them. I had the Baja cod tacos, blackened, and I would definitely get them again but ask for the sauce to be on the side instead of drizzled everywhere but on the actual tacos. I took most of them home (we had lots of leftovers) and they reheated really well. We tried two desserts: a flourless chocolate cake and a carrot cake.
