I visited Philly Down South twice in the two weeks I visited Stuart for the holidays - it's that good. This review will encompass both visits. You can seat yourself anywhere for lunch under the big grass roof or under some accompanying umbrella tables. Servers came by quickly and were attentive to order details. Drink wise I got a classic Arnold Palmer for one visit, and a Virgin pina colada for the other. Both were good! I like my Arny P less sweet, and I love my pina coladas with a good amount of pineapple. For lunch the first time I got the Philly with the pineapple slaw, which is really something different compared to wherever else you can get a Philly. There wasn't a lot of slaw on my sandwich but it was just enough to brighten up the sandwich. The second time I got the chicken Philly, which has your classic fixings just with chicken instead. Fries on the side both times are delicious! Nice and crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. One standout memory I have is that my mom wanted a loaded fries that was more vegetable than meat which isn't on the menu. However, they were able to accommodate this and delivered very well to her liking! I remember when Philly Down South was just the food truck and a couple of umbrella tables. My mom says that every time she visits Philly Down South, it seems to get a little larger. I love the current grass hut ambiance that even features a stage for some live music! In my opinion, they should be the prime dining option at Stuart beach. Bathrooms for Philly Down South are really the Elliot Museum's, so make sure to bring proper coverups and footwear if you're coming from the beach. I would check your bills after you leave to make sure they didn't add on a tip Went here during the surf and skate jam event, and it was just absolutely ridiculous I placed an order for a simple Philly cheesesteak and they told me to wait around an hour. No big deal so I can back about an hour and 20 minutes later since it was busy Long story short I got the wrong order and at that point they just didn't care I never ended up actually receiving my food -I do want to mention the owner of the restaurant was very understanding about the situation and he did his best to resolve the issue. I just wasn't having it - the owner said he would look into it but also when I place to go orders I make the tip an exact even amount - whatever total they put into the system they added a $10+ tip... that was falsely put into the system by whoever put the ticket in. That is theft. I truly hope he got down to the bottom of this I have worked in the restaurant industry and met people who do add extra tip- since (from what I was told by othermost people don't notice and it's not a big amount- thus why I always make to an even amount on the check. We were really disappointed with our experience. The music was extremely loud, and the owner openly stated that they were intoxicated, which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. The lobster roll was especially disappointing. At around $30, we expected fresh lobster, but it tasted fishy, overly salty, and did not seem fresh. Based on our experience, we would not recommend ordering it. It's also worth knowing that this is not a full-service restaurant with an extensive menu. The food is prepared in a food truck kitchen attached to a tiki bar, and the menu is much more limited than expected. We almost never leave negative reviews or complain, but we felt other diners should know what to expect before visiting. read more

First timer, but will be back-- Came to see Girlfriend Material a couple of weekends ago and enjoyed the venue and the food. Our server was a bit slow in getting our drinks at first, but she ended up being very sweet and accommodating. Hubby and I ordered and shared dry rubbed wings , a wedge salad that the waitress had the kitchen split for us, and a cheesesteak sandwich. I also had two NA beers. All things were very tasty and enjoyable, though I'd likely try their house specialty called the Pineapple Express. Per the menu, it's coconut rice, red and green peppers, onions, and pineapple chunks served in a fresh pineapple boat with a sweet and sour sauce. You can choose to add a protein if desired. I went to this restaurant and had a terrible experience! My chicken philly cheese steak sandwich which was to include peppers, onions and cheese. After waiting 45 minutes I received one that had raw onions no peppers and no cheese. My bf ordered ice tea and to my shock recieved on bill a charge for 2 ice teas for 8.88! Poor service, owner was very unprofessional, and disrespectful of ALL HIS customers. The place is fully open to the elements, the wind blows thru the place VERY hard , because you are at the beach, it's not a comfortable place to sit, anywhere. They have no clear curtains like most restaurants who are open air. Tonight we were there, and the band was setting up. The drummer banged on his snare drum for 15 minutes straight! Doing a sound check??? REALLY?? I AM NOT KIDDING! Then he paused, played a rift, then started up banging EVERY 2 SECONDS again! Do you think you could enjoy a bar if there was a constant loud BANG... BANG.... BANG? FOR 15 MINUTES STRAIGHT!!! You're there to enjoy yourself. Not get a headache. After the second time of this nonsense, we cancelled out dinner order, paid for our drinks, and left. I went to the owner to complain and he immediately got nasty with me, trying to tell me that the foal noise in his place of business was the band tuning up, doing a sound check. Never, ever have I heard a band tune up like this, nor be inconsiderate enough to not understand that they were annoying the PAYING customers. Owner didn't care. my husband and I drove from Boca Raton to check out this restaurant. If I had known that the kitchen was a food truck I would of never had gone. My husband order the philly steak and cheese and fries -- very sparling on the fries the sandwich looked okay -- I have seen better I order the Ohana Sandwich -- never ever again a real big mistake. A few pieces of tasteless maui maui and some cheese peppers and onions. I had the so called pineapple coleslaw -- please give me a break--- I had a very small portion of this so called pineapple coleslaw. I left hungry and discouraged. My husband tried my sandwich and the fish by itself and agreed it really wasn't as good as it was described on the menu. He wants to go back to try the hamburger I will try very hard to discourage that -- a long ride for something not that good. Service was okay -- nobody really cares, asks a questons and walks away not paying attention to what was eaten. I don't send food back especially in Florida. Would have been a 5 star review but reduced to 4 due to the "mask policy"--the restaurant owner and the server were unmasked while serving (including indoors). After our meal I quietly mentioned that many people would appreciate them wearing a mask indoors, but the owner said a) it wasn't required in this county, b) he's more than willing to put one on if anyone asked (and in fact served 85 people here yesterday and not a single person minded), and c) that "he's over it". Personally, had I known that he had mingled with 85 people (unmasked) yesterday, I would have been uncomfortable with his lack of mask even outdoors, and would never feel comfortable requesting that the server put a mask on! What follows is the review I'd written before my post-lunch conversation regarding masks... Surprisingly healthy and delicious meal for a museum restaurant! We thought we'd "settle" for lunch inside the Elliot museum because it was convenient, but we were thrilled to discover that the food and service here was excellent! We ordered the South Philly salad (which seemed like an odd name for a delicious gourmet salad the included cashew encrusted salmon, grapefruit slices, dried cranberries and Mandarin oranges. The grilled mahi sandwich was also a good/healthy choice. Our waiter, Jamison was super attentive and friendly, and the outside patio was comfortable and breezy. 15 of us arrived there at 4:45 on a Thursday evening for a scheduled birthday party . We waited almost 30 min before any of us received our drink order. We ordered our dinner at 5:15. One hour later the food still had not arrived . The waitress never came back for follow-up beverage order. 1hr and 15 min passed and another waitress came and said that we all had to reorder our dinner as the first waitress forgot to put the order in. Needless to say most of us did not stay. Upon talking to the manage his response was , "well you hit us with a big group." We stopped at the opening of the new tiki hut last evening. Overall a great location and nice set up. For food, we had the chicken wrap and mahi sandwich with chips. Nothing to rave about but generally okay food and decently priced. We will certainly be back to try more of the menu. read more

Hidden gem! Had lunch here a few weeks ago, loved it and wanted to try the dinner menu. The lobster bisque had REAL chunks of fresh lobster, so yummy!
