The food was great - especially the hummus with chicken and the feta bang bang pizza. However, the food could not overcome the awful service. I'm a former waitress so I am always sympathetic to waitstaff, always. But the young man who waited on us was the worst I've encountered in a loooong time! He started out ok. but then he brought the wrong beers to the wrong people and when he realized it - after I had been drinking from the glass - simply took the glass from me and gave it to our friend! We shared a few small plates and then decided to order a pizza to split. Our waiter finally cleared away the plates from the food and then gave us back our plates. Of course our plates had remnants of eggplant skin and other food on them. After delivering our pizza her completely forgot about us. I finally got his attention by waving my arms about - it was not crowded and he was not busy. So, while I enjoyed the food and the setting, the awful service makes it very unlikely I'd go back. read more

Service was fantastic! We had Maggie and she was a gem from the getgo. I had their twist on a French 75 which was great and the prices for the cocktails aren't too steep. We ordered blooming cauliflower and a mushroom dip special for the table and were not disappointed - that mushroom dip was especially tasty but I think it was a special and not on the menu but I hope it makes it there permanently. They have vegan and gluten free options! And I will be going back to try their vegan charcuterie plate! The atmosphere was very inviting, not a long wait at all, very friendly staff - Someone in our group spilled champagne onto her pizza and they brought us a brand new one so we could enjoy the flavours properly! There are little details everywhere that make this place inviting and the music is just right. The bar is smaller than I expected but it is a lounge vibe so I see where that wasn't a priority. Vibe was pretty good - heard some good music there. The grape leaves were meh - didn't seem fresh. But the marg pizza was pretty amazing tbh. I gotta admit, it's some damn good pizza. It reminds me of the pizza you'd get at a trattoria in Venice - somehow they got super fresh basil in Pittsburgh during a snowstorm - and the cheese was top notch. Crust - aLso a winner. read more

Hands down the worst service I have ever had. Nice vibe, but nothing can make up for the complete and utter disregard from the service staff. Commenting on all the problems would be quite a feat so I'll share the top two most egregious issues. 1. After waiting 32 minutes unacknowledged at the bar to order 2 draft beers the bartender served me 2 random beers. I asked which was which knowing they were not the beers I ordered. He admitted they were the wrong beers. He walked away, charged me, and then was profoundly rude to me when I told him that was ridiculous. 2. The mystery beers were served with cold glassware fresh out of the dishwasher. A dishwasher that I watched him load, run, and promptly pull a glass from. So if being treated terribly is your thing, then maybe avoid this place for sanitation and public health reasons. In closing, horrible, don't go. read more

We came to Forge while waiting to pick up a friend from the airport. Reservation for 8p, but asked to be called if anything opened up earlier. Received a call indicating there was availability at 7:15 and they sat us immediately. Great service. We ordered two drinks (Danger, Will Robinson and the Snake in Green Grass) and they were tasty. The Will Robinson tasted similar to a margarita, and had a spicy finish - very refreshing. Enjoyed both drinks. For dinner: ordered a pizza, falafel, vegan shawarma. I was underwhelmed by the pizza, but my wife enjoyed. I thought the falafel was excellent. The shawarma was tasty as well. Would definitely go back, especially for more cocktails. read more

This place is the perfect spot to grab a pre-dinner cocktail with friends or to share some apps on a cozy couch! The ambience and decor is a 10. Super cool, cute and glam without being so fancy you feel uncomfortable and enjoyed sitting on a couch sipping a fancy cocktail. The menu is full of small plates which is nice for trying multiple things or sharing. We liked the rainbow platter which was a colorful sampler of mediterranean salads. The falafel was also good. Didn't only exceed expectations. Completely blew them away. Loved the vibe and loved the food. Came with a group of 7 people that included 3 vegetarians. We ordered a bunch of small plates and shared and there were a ton of options that all could eat. I'm not a vegetarian and loved it all. The vegetarian shwarma was great, as were the stuffed pepper and drunken mushrooms, but the star imo was the falafel. No, really. It was easily the best falafel I've ever had. Wonderfully fried crispy exterior with an incredible pillowy interior, almost doughnut-like. In a good way. The texture was so good. Drinks were good too. Service was good to above average. We aren't often in this area but so glad we were & stumbled upon this place! The atmosphere is amazing & perfect for a date night or small group happy hour. It's dimly lit with beautiful furniture. We sat at a sofa section initially. I had 3 different gin based cocktails and enjoyed each one. We got the tuna appetizer, mushroom pizza, and a flatbread. The food was better than I expected & I can't wait to try the rest of their menu! We ended up staying longer than expected and were able to move to a high top table so make room for a reservation in our section. We had the loveliest dinner here- from start to finish! Sarah (who wears many hats including host, server, and bartender!) is so sweet and on point. My boyfriend and I are both vegan and we found plenty to eat here- there were more options than we were able to try in one sitting! We got the cauliflower, crispy Brussels, Falafel, and vegan cheese platter. Everything was delicious but the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were above and beyond... it's clear the chef really cares about the food he's serving. It's not often we leave a restaurant feeling inspired, but I'm telling you- the texture of the cauliflower and the crispiness of the Brussels sprouts were next level. We decided to make pita pocket sandwiches with falafel, cauli, sprouts, and some of the falafel sauce ...!!! 10/10 on that combo. The overall experience was enjoyable and the annoyances are expected when a place has just opened but should be ironed out unless it's digging for that excessively laid back Lawrenceville appearance. There were 4 of us and we had been pregaming at my house around the corner with snacks and bottles of wine so we arrived well lubricated around 10pm on a Friday night and had a short wait before we got a fantastic table! The server was great and the drinks were delicious as was the food! It took awhile for the food which was expected since it was a new place on a Friday night and it wouldn't have been as noticeable if the drinks had come out quicker. It was almost 30 minutes before we got the drinks but once they arrived they were so good! And when the food arrived, it was also delightful! The bar is the focal point as they are know for their signature drinks ( alcoholic and non alcoholic). When you go to the Forge bring an appetite. The food is amazing. Homemade hummus, seared tuna, flat breads, stone fired pizza, blooming Cauliflower ( personal fave) and of course the falafel ( best on the East coast). Whatever you order the service is always welcoming and attentive. Great place for a date night, girls night out or quick bite before heading to the theater. We went to the Forge for the first time last night with a group of four and I can't wait to go back. It's very cozy with no proper tables -- instead it's couches and chairs with low tables. They had a great wine and cocktail list and the bar area was very chic and appealing. There was only one server working and one bartender and yet we didn't feel like we were being ignored. We ordered a bunch of different items but the stand out was the roasted veggies. I have no idea what was on them but Oh My Goddddd they were incredible! We visited here last night but hadn't seen the menu yet. The view of the wood fire oven made me think it was a fancy pizza and drinks style restaurant but I was wrong. And pleasantly surprised. We weren't sure what to order so we tried a bunch of menu options- First the grilled chicken shishlik with vegetables - the chicken was tender and the veggies were fresh. Loved this dish and would order it again. Then we had the Israeli salad with hummus and pita - this was our favorite. The salad was seasoned perfectly. The hummus was creamy. And the pita was oven fresh. We mistakenly ordered a pizza thinking the portions might be on the small side but we were wrong- again pleasantly surprised. The fun guy- mushrooms cheese arugula- cooked perfectly in the wood fired oven. We would order this again too! The staff was great and accommodating.
