Me and a friend were in the area for work and came in for cocktails one evening prior to dinner. The bartender staff was great! The venue looks really nice and they have a nice cocktail list too. Stopped here for a few drinks after a Pirates game. Connor was our bartender and was great, a good pour and very friendly. They closed at 11, literally pulled down the rolling doors over the booze before I could take any great photos. We did walk around the hotel lobby itself, a beautiful Marriott Bonvoy Autograph collection property called The Industrialist. According to Julian who was working the front desk, they just had Christmas in July so many fun trees and hanging jellyfish were still up. Definitely a fun vibe and higher end hotel. read more

Overall the experience was fair. My family and I went there on Easter for dinner. Other than a few couples that came in for drinks at the bar, we were the only people there. I understand we are a group of 7 and it's a holiday, but it was dead yet somehow the service was incredibly slow. After sitting for 10 minutes, we finally got to put in our drink order. They were out of 1 of the 6 wines by the glass and my sister ended up with something significantlymore expensiveand not one she really wanted. After another 10 minutes our server told my niece and nephew that they were out of rootbeer. Not once were any of us asked if we wanted another drink throughout the meal. The menu is small and unimaginative. We had the burrata to start, which was ok but the bread was stale. I did appreciate the giardineria, fruit, and candied nuts on the side. I got the short rib sandwich. The horseradish sauce was delicious. The fries were tasty but served luke warm and thus became mush in 5 minutes. The au jus was also luke warm. Finally, at the end, we asked to see a dessert menu. We were told they had chocolate cake and plain cheesecake. My neice and nephew ordered one of each. 5 minutes later, we were told they were out of both. The breakfast / brunch menu had great selection of sweet/ carbs / savory / protein / fruit you name it. I ordered the Rebel Wrap which came with potatoes. Every ingredient in the wrap was great (chorizo, avocado, cheese, eggs). The potatoes were nicely seasoned too and had a slight crunch. All around good meal and I would come back. read more

On the couch, just back from dinner, in The Industrialist to write this review- Am here on business and was happy to find a hotel with a well reviewed restaurant on site. Well....let's talk about that...... Sat down at the bar solo. Gal bartender- attentive, but never smiled at me the whole time. Made the worst dirty Sapphire martini I think I've ever had. Ordered the crab cakes and a side of fries. Came quickly, which was nice bc on the road I was hungry. The crab cakes- zero lump crab meat. Fully breaded with a greens and arugula dressed salad. The dressing with the crab cakes was spicy and nice. I think the standout of the meal overall as the aioli for the fries. Fries, not house cut, but tasted fine. Then I also order a double G&T to finish the meal. And bill....ok, I don't skimp on paying if a meal and drinks are good. But $87 for what I ordered!!!!!! Not there. And especially when half of the time I was seated at the bar the bartender/servers were sitting down on their phones, or chatting to each other in how they want to travel. The Rebel Room in downtown pgh. We went to the Christmas Village, it was packed. Would've loved some more time to look at the vendors but the amount of people was crazy. While downtown we decided to try a place to eat. Zach came across The Rebel Room, since they were a couple blocks up from the Christmas Village we thought they wouldn't be as busy. Its attached to The Industrialist Hotel and has a kind of speakeasy vibe. Its not a big place and we were lucky enough to snag a spot. They had interesting cocktails but I kept it simple ordering something on tap. To eat I had their Classic Steak. I thought it was good, loved how their bread was crunchy and enjoyed their horseradish sauce. Their fries were perfectly salted and its been a minute since I've had shoestring fries. However they do not have a very big menu so if you're looking for a lot of options this is not the place for you. With being downtown their prices were not horrible so it wasn't crazy expensive or extremely cheap. Not sure if we'd try again since there are so many other places downtown we have yet to try but I think in a pinch if we needed to go somewhere without thinking or searching we'd end up back here. read more

Had a great time here! We were on our way to the Cherry Blossom pop up that's on the second floor, but they were closed for a private event so we ended up here and we were so glad! Gives speakeasy vibes, great service - our server was passionate and really helpful with choosing drinks. Soo the atmosphere for this place is STUNNING. Truly showcases the incredible architecture in Pittsburgh, modernized. Main dining areas and bar were kinda of all together which gave it a really great energy. I would come back for drinks at the bar. Our waitress was doing the job of like 3 people it seemed, so she was honestly really doing awesome. Always had a full glass! Unfortunately the food was really average and priced really high. I should have grabbed pictures, but didn't. Ordered the Burgh Arancini, for $18, got 3 balls, and they honestly tasted like someone heated them up from Costco, so obviously not bad, but like, $18 for three average balls wasn't great. (Table next to us ordered the cheese board and it looked like they also got the square cubes from a grocery store?? I mean I'm sure they didn't, but that's the impression I got) Had the chicken and Brussel sprouts, taste was honestly pretty good, but the chicken was undercooked (aka raw in the center). In all fairness it is a bone-in chicken, but I do expect chicken to be cooked thru. All-in-all: it's a really beautiful space with very great people working there, but I would NOT go for food there. The second time that I e visited this location. Stopped here after a long day at work. I had two glasses of wine. The Sauv Blanc was my favorite. I ordered tacos and all that they had were the Maui tacos. I'm not a fish taco guy but thank god I did because it may have been my favorite taco ever or up there. I LOVED THIS PLACE!!! The ambiance was amazing- so warm and cosy. It wasn't super packed and felt relaxed, but there was still a nice chatter to fill the room. I am 19 and sometimes waiters still treat me like a kid... but our waiter tonight was SO NICE!! So so professional and even made me a mocktail that wasn't on the menu. I was looking forward to a nice piece of salmon with a slightly pink center for lunch today, but was extremely disappointed with my meal. The salmon tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for way too long--definitely not fresh. Very poor quality. To make matters worse, it was totally overcooked, leaving it dry and unappetizing. The few spears of asparagus, which I hoped would be a nice complement, were burned rather than charred, making them almost inedible. Overall, the experience was a letdown, and definitely not worth $33. Unfortunately our office had placed an order for pick up, so I was stuck with my meal. I rarely do "day-of" reviews, but I felt like I needed to. (A review on the day that I actually visited the establishment.) While filming a video for Forbes Tavern right around the corner I walked past this building that said "The Industrialist". I could see a bunch of folks inside having a grand-dee ol' time and the place looked like somewhere I belonged. So I made it a mission of mine to get back here to check it out. Today was that day! Atmosphere/Appearance: So obviously I figured out "The Industrialist" is the hotel and "The Rebel Room" is the awesome bar/speakeasy/restaurant attached to it off of the front lobby. I was reluctant to stop here because I knew I needed food (thinking they ONLY served drinks) after a long day at work and skipping lunch, but after looking at the menu, my fears were relieved. It's very modernistic, steel-city, metal-tavern sort of vibe to it. It's hard to describe, but certainly unique. It wasn't very loud, but just a tad bit lively with the after-work crowd who all go home to their husbands and wives at like 6:30pm. Seriously, the place just died right around that time. Lol. Nothing wrong with that though. Service: Marc and Rafael(sp) took incredible care of me. They're both young guys and KNEW HOW TO MAKE SOME DRANKS. Let me tell you. Lol. They were funny, had a lot of personality and just made my experience so much better. Food: Marc made both of my drinks and I will repeat... HE KNEW HOW TO MAKE SOME DRANKS (as I'm writing this currently with them in my system.) Lol. The Rebel Fashion was my first drink and it was so delicious. It's like the traditional Old Fashioned, but with some sort of toasted sugar-something added to it. It was delicious and like I said, it snuck up on me for sure. Next up is my 2nd favorite drink of all time... the Sazerac. This wasn't on the menu, but just popped in my head and was curious if they could make it... Marc did. He KILLED it. I can't say enough good things about the duo here at The Rebel Room. For food I was feeling "cheap" so I opted for "The Classic Burgher" which is exactly how it sounds. It's a 1/2 pound of "house blend", truffle shallot aioli, lettuce, tomato, shaved red onion, pickles, white American cheese all on a potato roll. I added bacon, because, bacon. It was FANTASTIC and truly better than I had expected. More flavor from the meat itself wouldn't have hurt, but this was truly a great burger. Did I mention it comes with some deliciously tasty-salty-garlicky fries?! Value: In Rebel Fashion = $16.00 Sazerac = $13.00 The Classic Burgher = $15.00 Listen, you're DOWNTOWN anywhere, let alone Pittsburgh AND IN A HOTEL RESTAURANT so it won't be cheap here, but surprisingly, for how I feel leaving there for what I spent, it's absolutely worth it. For the 3rd time, the drinks are strong, yet tasty. They are worth what you pay, unless you get some fruity bullsh*t, but that's cool if it's your thing. Lol. In conclusion, I loved this spot. If I don't see Marc or Rafael behind the bar when I walk in... I may not even stay. They truly made me feel like I belonged there. I sat next to FOUR regulars. Like, the bartenders knew their drink when they walked in and here I am, some guy off the street playing Pokemon GO at the bar and yet... I still felt like I was a regular. Hats off to them. Walked by the other night and this place caught my eye! I'm always looking for new cocktail bars to try, and I believe this place is new since my last visit to Pittsburgh. I tried the Remy Ma (very smooth, thanks to the egg white) as well as the heat (mezcal, lime, jalapeño & soda) which had the perfect bite I was expecting. The Rebel Room here at The Industrialist Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh has a real nice vibe going on. The impressive bar takes up half of the room and the wooden booths are interesting as your feet dangle; at least mine did. I'm sure Shaquille's or LeBron's feet wouldn't "hang", but I'm not near as tall as these titans. We stopped here at The Rebel Room to grab a small bite to help us get to our late dinner without being totally famished. It worked! We ordered a Mezcal with mineral water and a charcuterie board with some really nice hors d'oeuvres on it. The cheeses were delicious, the nuts roasted perfectly and the dried fruits complimented everything. Some great black and white photos were on the wall, depicting some of the history of this fine city. This hotel is lovely, friendly and centrally located. Alas, there is a homeless problem here in Pittsburgh (like most cities today). It seemed evident here at this location as we were in the heart of downtown. I scratch my head continuously wondering how did we (the USA) get into this mess and what we can do to help this sad and painful problem? read more

My husband and I went there for his birthday dinner a few weeks ago. We often go downtown, pass it a lot and it always looks like a super cute spot. It is a smaller intimate place, which I expected due to it being in the Industrialist Hotel. The menu is smaller and more limited than a regular restraint but the food was good. Accidentally came across this bar and ended up really enjoying my time here! The space overall is fairly small but my friends and I were able to find a table once we walked in. I got the spring gimlet drink, which was refreshing and not too sweet. The drink menu itself is quite small, but each drink is very well made and the bartender was great! While visiting Pittsburgh, we decided to check out The Rebel Room as it was open late. It was a short walk from our hotel, and is located and is affiliated with The Industrialist Hotel. This is a casual but elegant bar atmosphere that has a good selection of cocktails on the menu. I really enjoyed my In Rebel Fashion. The menu is small with few options, as are the food portions. I had a chicken slider that was recommended by the server. Overall this place was very average from menu options, service, atmosphere and quality of food. I expected much more given the prices, and felt a little let down with the experience and probably wouldn't recommend this option. read more

Very tiny place with a very limited menu. We went during a super busy weekend and there was also a wedding in the hotel. Service was slow understandably. Unfortunately our waitress was also not very friendly but the other staff seemed great. The first drink I ordered, THE SELZNICK, was straight lemon juice. I was not able to drink it. The waitress still charged me full price for it which was different. I do believe it was just made incorrectly. My chicken sandwich was good but my sisters steak sandwich was amazing. We also got the charcuterie, unfortunately it was not the freshest and didn't have a lot of the stuff listed on the menu, maybe because we go the small. I feel like usually places just give less of each thing not leave stuff off. For instance we had none of the sauces mentioned. It is a cute place, we loved the big windows and being able to people watch. It was also very clean. The bathroom is located in the lobby area and it is very cute. Which made me want to check more of the hotel out but we were on a time crunch. If I stayed at the hotel I would probably go back but that's the only way. read more

The decor is warm and inviting. Nice corner location with some natural lighting. Good, simple food menu. Enjoyed the prix fixe offering that they had in conjunction with Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. As part of the four courses, I chose the petite fillet which was cooked to perfection and super tender. A couple of the items like the pumpernickel bread paired with the burrata and fresh peach was soggy, as well as the potatoes that accompanied the main entrée were overcooked. All in all, great quality meal. Dining companion really enjoyed the Buffalo chicken veggie wrap. This place is obviously picking up in popularity, and deservedly so. read more

This place gets 3 stars out of 5 because: (1) It's brand new and we need to see improvement, always (2) We got TO GO because we couldn't be served on the second floor of the hotel. This spot is very "boutique" in service. (3) The lounge was comfortable and quiet, we enjoyed the lower lighting and lower seating. I'll be back with friends soon, and look forward to editing this review over the months to share updates about how #LGBTQIA friendly the location stands and if service picks up as they become more established downtown here in Pittbsurgh. Not interested in coming back anytime soon. It's the day before Valentine's and only 2 people are working. The place has a local bar vibe and look. Food wise the NY Strip Steak was not seasoned (needed A1 for flavor) and the salmon was overcooked. Drinks were good. Service was not timely. Again the staff had too many people to manage. He delivered the food and never came back. Couldn't get another drink if wanted one. We had to call for the other waitress to get the bill after waiting for him to check on us. We were done. This place SHOULD NOT BE on open table if they can't handle volume and properly service your customers. read more

We are hotel guests. Food itself was great. Everything was fresh BUT we waited 40+ minutes for cut up fruit, pre-made muffins (I think they're Starbucks muffins), and a chobani yogurt. Not sure what took so long as we were the only people in the restaurant still eating (everyone else had already paid and/or left). The waitress was nice but tried charging us $3 to top off the free hotel coffee we had gotten upstairs. Probably wouldn't have minded if it was disclosed ahead of time, but she did at least remove the charge upon request. We'll just order room service next time since it comes from the same place. read more

Stopped in for the first time on Apr 27 and immediately loved the ambiance. We were the only patrons and were greeted by the friendly bartender upon entry. I was interested in The Goldblum cocktail and asked the bartender about the Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon which was listed as one of the ingredients. She said this cocktail was one of the most popular and really delicious and asked me if I would like a taste of the Liberty Pole. With her recommendation, I declined tasting it first and went ahead and ordered it. It was delicious - I really loved it, so asked if I could see the bottle of bourbon since I'd never seen it before. She started looking for it and said it might be in the back. Naturally, my question was "didn't you just make my drink with it?". Her answer, "No, your drink was made with Dewars White Lable Scotch, we often rotate our liquors and don't have the Liberty Pole right now." Okay....so why did you offer me a taste of it and more importantly, since I specifically asked about Liberty Pole before ordering, why didn't you tell me the cocktail would be made with a different liquor? When you are paying $16 for a cocktail and ask questions about the ingredients, the bartender should be upfront when those same ingredients won't be used. I can see now that the ingredient listed online is the Dewars, but that was not on the menu we were given. Other than the cocktails, we ordered an appetizer board and it came out without two of the items listed. When we asked about this, she went back to the kitchen and returned with one of the items and told us they were out of the other. I will probably try this place again for a cocktail, but likely would not order food here. read more

Found this spot after looking on Yelp, In town for work so gave it a go. Small spot that would be good for a date night. A few booths, a couple high tops, a few tables, and seating at the bar are available. You seat yourself which was easy and nice. I ordered a wedge salad with chicken and the Brussel sprouts. The salad was decent and a nice size. The Brussel sprouts to me were very bland and plain. Not sure if they forgot some ingredients but even with me adding salt it was very boring. My friend and I were exploring some new-to-me places downtown and The Rebel Room in the Industrialist Hotel has been on my list of places to try. It's not a large space but very well appointed. The bar seats were completely full when we arrived at 5 o'clock on a Saturday. The acoustics were loud with the airy high ceilings. We sat at one of the window seat tables beautifully soaked in natural light as a contrast to the warm, dark color palette of the walls, tables, chairs, and plates. Definitely, my sort of place for an elevated Happy Hour experience, similar feel to FL 2 at the Fairmont Pittsburgh. Not the sort of place for those on a budget. Thankfully, the quality matches the prices for their crafted libations and elevated ingredient food dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed my In Rebel Fashion, their take on an Old Fashion with their own propriety Rye, toasted sugars, orange bitters, Angostura bitters, garnished with an orange peel and cherry. We ordered two dishes from the To Share section of the food menu. I equally enjoyed both, Tuna Tartare and Burrata & Berries. There is valet service for those that arrive by automobile. And it is not a far walk from PPG Place, Market Square, nor the Cultural District. It was a truly delightful first visit. read more

Awful service, the place has rude bar staff and a real problem with policing the door. Random folk just sit up next to you asking you for money. I would stay very much away till they train their staff and properly police their property. Fix your noisy dish washer, close the door to your kitchen and remember to ask how the food is. read more
