    Cheese curds

I would give the cheese curds a go to menu item we always get these when we stop in. The service is so much fun to interact with and always love stopping in. If you are near the William Penn don't forget this hidden gem in the back behind the lobby it is one of best bar atmospheres you will get in a hotel.

It looks like you're walking in to an old London pub. It's quiet, private, with the best service possible. Ron is the primary waiter and should really be hired as Pittsburgh's premier Docent because he gives the absolute best advice of where to go in the city for anything! The food is perfect for where you are. Super delicious, giant chicken Caesar salad, burgers, sandwiches, gumbo and so on. The pours of wine were generous and there is a TV to cheer on Pittsburgh's Champion teams or follow news. Very glad it's reopened post-pandemic protocols, it's like stepping back in time. Be sure to ask for Ron!

The Tap Room is little hidden gem at the William Penn hotel. I ate lunch there more than once during my stay. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I had the Caesar Salad (with actual anchovies) and the Aveline Salad with Salmon - both were excellent. The atmosphere during lunch lead me to believe it was a local option for people working downtown. The night of the hockey game, it was packed with supporters and very lively. A nice "pub" experience. Highly recommend.

I thought this was a great choice for a quick bite. Reminds me of an English pub...I loved the Gumbo, was feeling a little stuffed up, but not anymore! The gumbo is hot hot hot!! Hot and Fantastic!!

A pretty decent bar considering that's in the basement of a hotel. Multiple TVs, decent selection on tap. The place was surprisingly hopping, considering how expensive it is. though I imagine the only people who actually come here are people staying at the hotel.

This restaurant bar is inside the Omni Penn hotel. A place you can grab a bite to eat. They are open until 2am. They cater mostly to the hotels' patrons but also non-patrons as well. It's more like a pub than a bar, but they can make you any cocktail you request. They have a wine list on their menu and if course beer in tap, and burgers and local favorites.

The Open Road is here in the up-and-coming Garfield neighborhood to help supply sober and sober curious people, and really anyone interested in cutting back on alcohol or supporting someone who is, with delicious beverages that help you feel like you're not missing out on a thing. There are nonalcoholic beers, spirit-free versions of things like gin, bourbon, bitters and truly anything else you might need to make yourself alcohol free drinks at home. There are also pre-canned and bottled options where you don't have to do any of the work, nonalcoholic wine and bubbly, functional beverages with added benefits, the amount of choice is nearly overwhelming in the best possible way. It's a clean, open vibe in the shop and the staff is kind and helpful. I have bought from them a number of times throughout the year at various pop-ups but this was my first visit to the shop and of course won't be my last. They are regulars at Pittsburgh festivals and other events and I'm deeply appreciative for their presence in the community!

I personally have a couple of pregnant friends who cannot drink but like Non alcoholic wine. This is just such an amazing concept as a store and it's awesome seeing places like this start to pop up. More people are cutting back or going sober and you never know someone's reason for not drinking!

They served Collefrisio wines and had great cheese plates. My friends and I would go for their happy hour for half priced glasses of Riserva wine. It was a very laid back atmosphere. I don't think the wine bar has reopened, but I visited recently for a coffee. De Fer Coffee & Tea is now the coffee provider inside the grocery store. I guess I haven't been there for a while, because there were a lot of changes! The macaron stand isn't there any more, and they have seats instead. I was so glad that I took my laptop with me, because once I saw the seats I decided to stay and work. While sipping on my oat milk latte, I watched all the Downtown work people come and go ordering custom sandwiches and hot foods for lunch. They have a good selection of food and the prices are reasonable. I remember one time ordering salmon, veggies, and something else and it was only about $10-$12. They served it to you on a plate, and I ate it in the wine bar. I didn't eat anything on this most recent trip, but I enjoyed my latte from De Fer. I'm glad to know they have seats now because I definitely plan to eat/work there more often. They also have a restroom downstairs that is kept clean.
