A Ventura county hidden gem that you need to know about! Cutest unassuming LOCAL coffee shop meets country home kitchen meets glorious mountain view patio all with a front row to cessnas taking off and landing. Really delicious yummy food! Check out the menu! Experience the friendly service.Fresh air - fresh ingredients and warm sunshine. IYKYK

Wow! I finished the whole thing!! Amazing taste and texture, loved the fries too.

Coming from SCV this is a quick and easy drive. Love seeing the planes take off and land while I eat. The servers are so nice and friendly. Came for breakfast but ended up getting lunch. The Avon burger is awesome, loved the bacon with it. It was not too busy, the line moved fast. It's a sit in but you order at the front. Quite indoor seating or outdoor seething to hear the planes. If you love planes or aviation this will be your favorite. Will be coming back soon.

CFI breakfast minus the meat and added gluten free bread

'Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away' as you see the planes fly by outside the restaurant on the grounds of the Santa Paula airport. This restaurants is an order up front and they bring it out to you. Plenty of seating inside and a small patio outside. They have a bakery section with gluten free baked goods! I ended up grabbing a fresh gluten free bread loaf to go ($10). I came here with my mother and we both got the CFI breakfast, eggs your way, toast and a side of meat. I opted no meat and grabbed a slice of gluten free bread ($3 up charge) came with a side of homemade jam. I also got the purple skies tea which had a variety of flavors in it and tasted delicious! My mom got the home squeezed orange juice. Everything was delicious, made to order and wait time wasn't very long. Service was amazing!

Discovering a Hidden Gem My daughter and I decided to embark on a foodie drive in search of something new and exciting. Along the way, we stumbled upon a charming little spot that quickly became a highlight of our day. The scenery surrounding the restaurant was breathtaking, adding to the sense that we had escaped to a vacation destination in another state. Warm Atmosphere and Beautiful Views Upon entering, we were greeted by a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The decorations were thoughtfully arranged, creating an appealing and comfortable space. The eating area was spotless yet retained a welcoming, homey feel. We were especially captivated by the amazing views, which enhanced the overall experience. We began our meal by ordering drinks. My daughter chose a caramel latte for me, while she enjoyed a chai tea latte. Both drinks were amazing and set the tone for our adventure. For breakfast, she ordered the French toast. The combination of pecans and yogurt provided a unique blend of flavors--bittersweet yet intriguing, leaving us curious about the creative mind behind the dish. I opted for the Cali Burger, and as someone who has tried burgers at many places, I truly appreciated the quality of the grass-fed beef. Every bite was a pleasure.Although I couldn't finish the entire burger, it was so delicious that it disappeared before I had the chance for seconds. I was torn between choosing the Biscuits and Gravy or the burger, which only means we have a perfect excuse to return. This little gem left a lasting impression, and we can't wait to come back and explore more of its menu.

Friendly service, great toast and marmalade, unique view and dogs allowed outside! I'll definitely be back!

Stopped in for a cup of coffee after hearing the old hanger re opened as the Flying Spoon. The space is just as I remembers just reimagined a bit. The coffee bar is very welcoming and the pastries welcoming you in were amazing! The pastries are all made in house and I loved that a lot of the options were made with sourdough which is hands down my favorite all around so when it's used for other pastries I'm all in! I grabbed the cafe de olla latte and it changed me, sometimes regular cafe de olla is bitter and over time the flavor draws on you, this latte won't it's balanced and flavorful and I would order it every opportunity. All around a great space and one of my newest coffee spots to spam!

WOW! I am absolutely blown away by this place. Let me start by saying I was gutted when Flight126 closed. I thought "whoever is in this space next has big shoes to fill". Flying Spoon did not disappoint! ATMOSPHERE: When you first walk in, I was struck by how different it looks. It's much more open and there's lots to look at. I am really happy that they kept some of the original elements like the photographs and some of the booths. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. Water is on the left and is self serve. We were immediately greeted by the staff, all of which were friendly and genuinely kind. We ordered a lot to try to get a feel of everything. There is a case of pastries (sweet and savory), as well as lots of goodies from local vendors (candles, mugs, dog treats, etc) STAFF: Everyone is so nice. Steph gave us some great background and exciting updates about the place. Everything is made in house, even their bread! They currently have a small team but are hoping to grow, thus eventually resulting in a larger menu and dinner options. FOOD: We ordered: - cold brew, black - iced vanilla bean latte - apple bacon manchego cinny roll (savory) - cinnamon croissant / pastry with apple jam - 2 sides of pork sausage - cowboy plate - buttermilk biscuit & gravy Everything came out quickly despite ordering a lot of items. Cold brew and iced vanilla bean latte: my husband loved his cold brew! It's very strong but smooth. My vanilla bean latte was amazing and got better with every sip. Apple bacon manchego cinny roll - a savory pastry that looks like a cinnamon roll. We loved this! It's true comfort food; the type you want to just eat in bed on a lazy Sunday. I loved the fluffy texture and the chive spread on top. This reminded me of something I'd get from Roan Mills in Fillmore. Cinnamon croissant / pastry with apple jam : this was so yummy! Perfectly sweet and you could feel the love in it. Pork sausage: A MUST TRY!!!!!!!!! The patty is larger than I expected. At first, it just looks like a burger patty, but I couldn't have been more wrong. This was SO JUICY and perfectly seasoned. I loved how the herby bits cut through the fat. My husband doesn't usually like breakfast sausage but he loved this. This was worth every penny. Again, you NEED to get this!! Cowboy plate: another hit!!! The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The steak was cooked to a medium doneness which I prefer, but I'm sure you could ask for well-done if that's what you like. The chimichuri sauce was excellent. The potatoes were well cooked with a little crisp. The eggs were beautiful and the kale was a nice touch. Overall this is the most picture perfect plate you could ever order in Santa Paula. Buttermilk biscuit & gravy : this item is so unique! I usually don't like biscuits & gravy because the biscuits at most places are pretty dry and floury. This biscuit was flaky, buttery, and had a flavor of its own . The gravy is unlikely any other gravy I've had before. It's not your traditional bacon + sausage gravy. It's very mild/light in flavor , and hard to describe. The best way I can describe it is herby it subtle - I know that doesn't help much! As I kept eating it, I liked it more and more. I think this is the only way a gravy could complement their biscuit, because a traditional white gravy would've drowned out the flavor of the biscuit. I think this is a really good share plate. We loved everything that we ordered! I think their menu caters to more of an herby palette, so if that's your jam, then this is the spot for you. For the quality and portion size, we felt that they were very well priced. OVERALL: 10/10 for me. Aside from exceeding expectations, I have to give them props of having everything perfect while being so new. Usually it takes new restaurants a couple of months to get things right, but there were 0 misses with Flying Spoon. Even if you're not here to sit down and eat, I still think this is a great spot to grab and latte and pastry - it would be the same price as Starbucks, but it would taste better and you'd get more bang for your buck! Santa Paula didn't have a spot for modern pastries, and now it finally does! This is just what Santa Paula needed - a cute spot that offers elevated dishes with quality ingredients. I mean, look at how beautiful these food pics are - it's not AI, it's Flying Spoon!! I can't wait to come back!

This was my first time here and I never visited the previous business that was here. I love the coziness and cafe vibe it offers. The coffee menu was great because it was enough of a variety to find something you would enjoy be it coffees, matcha or teas but yet not too many choices to overload you. The fresh pastries in the pastry display were all so enticing. It has a similar vibe to Rablais Bistro only a bit quieter. I got a chai latte and a ginger pistachio cookie. The service clerk and barista were very friendly and my order was received quickly. I highly recommend this place. We didn't sit by the airport runway side but I did take a peek at the sitting area that faces the runway and the outdoor seating is great if you want to enjoy that part of the experience.

Best kept secret among aviation cafes, the Flying Spoon offers top-notch, innovative offerings from the typical fare, but with an accessible cost. The cafe patio is just feet away from the hangars, and you get to enjoy takeoffs and landings as you enjoy your food against an incredible mountain backdrop.

    Garden sando

Love this place. Coffee is great, ambience is fun and comfortable, and food has been delicious. Favorite items include cold brew, mushroom bowl, and garden sando.

Great new spot at the Santa Paula airport, I went in to grab a coffee and pastry but will definitely be back to try the food. The cold brew and cinnamon roll was delicious. Nice comfy feeling at their coffee bar for some reading or computer work. They also have the seating facing the runway! The service was excellent and quick. The sensory level for noise I would say is a 3 and 5 for lighting.

It's become my go-to spot to relax, unwind, and spend quality time with great friends. One of the things that keeps my wife and me coming back is the outstanding hospitality. In all the years we've been coming here, we've never had a bad experience. This past Saturday, my wife and I stopped in for lunch because we were craving something different. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich "wet," covered in their homemade buffalo sauce with bacon and lettuce. You can customize it with cheese, tomato, or any toppings you like. It came with a generous serving of perfectly crispy fries that paired perfectly with the sandwich. My wife ordered the wings and chose half traditional buffalo and half garlic lemon pepper. They were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Her meal came with celery, carrots, ranch, extra buffalo sauce, ketchup, and she couldn't resist adding an order of their delicious fries as well. The food arrived quickly, was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and, as always, we had an amazing time. Whether you're looking to grab an ice-cold beer, catch the big game, enjoy a great meal, or simply relax in a welcoming sports bar atmosphere, I highly recommend The Draft. The…read morephone reservation was especially pleasant--friendly, courteous, and the owner/manager answered my questions directly (a hospitality level I haven't experienced in years). Arrival was smooth. The half-circle drive off Mill Street is easy to enter and was open when we arrived. The only tip I'd add is once you get past the front area, head toward the rear parking lot for the best flow. Walking up to the front door is charming--Swiss/German country cottage style with historic character, dark wood tones, and shingle siding (with white end units). The lobby setup is warm and inviting, with great lighting and multiple seating areas where you can relax or have a conversation. Check-in was quick and friendly. The staff explained the room ventilation controls and the split cooling system (new technology). The room stayed very quiet and comfortable--our third-floor room cooled to about 65°F each night. The stairs to the third floor were exactly as expected--no elevator--and they felt well designed with consistent tread depth and height. The hallways also have fun movie posters from the 20-60s, which adds personality. We stayed in Room 301, and it was roomy (about 300 sq ft). The room had a chaise lounge with an ottoman, plus a desk and chair. The bathroom layout is a bit old-school, with the sink just outside the bathroom area inside the bedroom, but it worked fine. There's a small step up (around 1 1/2 inches), and the tub/shower and toilet were comfortable and clean. The shower had plenty of hot water. The bed was a highlight--pillow-top comfort with very soft sheets and comforters. The king pillows were large, soft, and easy to adjust (even though I usually prefer smaller ones, these were great). Overall, the room and property felt quiet. It seemed like most guests were in by around 9:00, and we had a peaceful, restful night's sleep. Also worth noting: there are four EV chargers in the rear parking lot for electric vehicle owners. The restaurant looked amazing and smelled great, though we didn't dine this trip--we're planning to next time we fly into Santa Paula Airport. Finally, Monica, the manager, was wonderful--an absolute pleasure to talk with and genuinely kind. And a special thank-you for the complimentary morning coffee and muffins. Highly recommend for anyone who wants comfort, charm, and quiet peace.

At check-in, we realized our assigned room was near two very barky dogs, and the front desk was kind and accommodating in relocating us to another room. I think it was even a better room. I appreciated their willingness to help. Unfortunately, the room itself felt more worn than charming. The furniture had visible wear and staining, the ceiling showed patched areas and water stains that really needed a fresh coat of paint, and the overall impression was tired rather than historic. A few relatively simple updates would go a long way toward elevating the experience. The bathroom was tight, and it had a small step up that we kept forgetting about, despite the (small) warning sign. The provided toiletries were among the worst I've encountered at a hotel. I had forgotten my own shampoo and soap and planned to use what was provided, but it was SO bad. The tiny disc of soap did not lather. On the positive side, the property felt safe and the room was clean. The lobby had dark wood and a homey feel. But what could have felt like a charming historic inn instead came across as simply old and overdue for some attention. While I appreciated the friendly service, I wouldn't choose to stay here again until I knew they had made some upgrades. From what I hear, this is the nicest place in Santa Paula, so I guess we would stay in nearby Ojai at a similar price point.
