The chicken fried steak with white milk gravy
Teri G.

Every time we go through, we stop for fabulous "home style delicious meals!" For years, the service is always friendly and attentive. Today "Mindy" served us and we decided that when they make robot servers they need to make the "Mindy" model. Vibrant smile and energy, delighted to serve our family of four, and made us feel fully welcome. As always the food was perfectly divine. The homestyle chicken fried steak is tenderized, battered and fried as good as mine, my boys said, but I think better! Crispy out and tender goods inside. The white milk gravy is homemade from the pan drippings. There's no other way to do it this well! Homemade biscuit with real creamery butter will stick to your ribs and lure you to bliss. Eggs over easy done just right. Hashbrowns crispy, rich coffee, and what seemed like fresh squeezed OJ. Any day is a good day to stop for a great eating experience, but in the first Sundays of the month, the aviation museums are open and free of charge. Might be live bands, raffles, airplane rides and more fun for one and all. Enjoy!

What a cute cafe !!! The food was so fresh and delicious. The staff members were so nice and the weather wasn't the best but we got a booth inside and got to watch the planes. They have good deals for bottomless mimosas. I want to come back when it is sunny !!

Recent family gathering. Food was tasty. On time. And all that was promised came as promised. Easy set up and comfortable and clean venue. Great for family celebrations or office meetings Or special occasions. Thanks Luis.

Chicken fried steak

LOVED our experience here. Came on Saturday around 11 and it was a 30 min wait. We had a mimosa and coffee while waiting. We ordered the chicken fried steak. It was my first time having it and I thought it was great. It's HUGE. The gravy is phenomenal and the inside of their biscuits and soft and pillowy. Staff is super friendly. Prices were great too. 2 chicken fried steak meals (with eggs, biscuit, and hash browns), coffee, and mimosa for a little over $50. Will definitely return.

Out of all airport cafe's I've been too, none have topped this one in regard to views.. this place is a two hour drive from me and I would absolutely make the drive on a Sunday morning to enjoy a hot cup of coffee on a cloudy, chilly morning...followed with a yummy mimosa the service has been great every single time, I have zero complaints. Absolutely recommend!

The food was great. The people were great. As you would expect being on an airport it was expensive.

I was looking forward to this experience and it didn't disappoint! But I worried a bit. We arrived at almost 11 and I worried that breakfast would not be available. It was available. Then there was a table with a large group, maybe 15 or so. They ordered at same time as us and I worried that our food would be delayed. We were all served at about the same time. How does the kitchen do that? My blushing bride had a vegetable omelet, hash browns, coffee and a biscuit. I had corned beef hash, eggs over easy, some sort of chunks of breakfast potato, iced tea and a biscuit. Let me start with the biscuit... it was thick, fluffy and yummy. We recently had a bad biscuit experience.... well, not really "bad" but certainly not good. This was a pleasant surprise! The omelette got good comments. My corned beef hash was really, really good. As were the other items. I dwell on the hash because I had an unfortunate childhood experience with hash that scarred me for life. You don't want to know... really, you don't. This is only the second time I've eaten corned beef hash since I was a child. I'd gladly come back for more! Service was kind and efficient. Prices are right.

How does this restaurant compare to Waypoint in Camarillo?

The food is MUCH better at Camarillo, but the Santa Paula cafe is much closer to airport operations. Camarillo often has a wait (duh) and their "throwback to lockdowns" 'order first' system leads to poor table service IMO.

I don't get the skateboard planks... are they for sale too or just display?? So why not 5-stars you ask? Well... I didn't think the food or coffee was that great honestly. The breakfast sandwich was so big, I don't know how anyone realistically eats it without getting egg all over their face or the whole thing sliding out from the bread and falling apart. It's pretty, but so sloppy once you dig in. The green pesto looked amazing but ultimately lacked flavor. The pickled shallots that came with it was so overpowering, (and mind you...I love shallots!) but I have to remove some. I ended up deconstructing the sandwich and eating it like a bagel with too much topping. Not so much a sandwich. The over easy egg was pretty, but didn't add any benefit. Maybe over hard would be a better option. Friend got avo toast. Once again super pretty, but she could tell the sliced eggs weren't as fresh and again the pesto was pretty flavorless. Lots of salt and pepper and hot sauce needed for both our dishes. Bread were over toasted, so cuts to the mouth roof top. Lattes were pretty, but tiny and coffee was meh. One bathroom, long wait. Order at counter and find a seat. Wait for them to call your name to drop off your food, but if you don't hear them or there are others with the same name... you get the picture. Come to think of it...My food did take took longer to come out and maybe it was because of those reasons! So skip the IG hype and go with Yelp reviews.

I went back to grab a few more pastries, and while I was away, a gnat flew into my coffee. I brought it back to the register, and they graciously replaced it without any issue. Though the shop was cute, clean, and had a lovely covered patio outside, I wouldn't recommend it for those stopping by for coffee on road trips. I got a seasonal spring drink called the Irish Cream Mocha and asked for it iced. Unfortunately, it just tasted like chocolate milk. Now, I like a good chocolate milk, but not when I paid for a specialty flavored mocha! I didn't detect an Irish cream flavor or even a hint of mocha. As a latte, it was way too milky and lacked the depth of an espresso drink. Contrary to its description on the menu, it wasn't balanced at all. How misleading. My friend tried one of the craft energy drinks, and it looked pretty, but she said that it was flat and tasted kinda meh. She also got a visually-appealing soda, which apparently tasted much better compared to the energy drink. Another friend ordered the seasonal Dulce de Leche Latte, and she mentioned that it was a bit too light-tasting as a latte. That checks out since my mocha also seemed like it was missing the coffee component haha. Her latte did taste like a caramelly drink made with actual dulce de leche, but she didn't appreciate that the "light" dusting of cinnamon was more like a heaping teaspoon of it thrown into the drink. We noticed that our receipts showed a higher price than what was printed on the menus. We only found out after paying and reviewing the receipts that they charge $0.75 for making drinks iced. We weren't informed of this charge by any of the ladies at the registers upon ordering, and we didn't see any signs stating that iced drinks would incur an additional charge. No explanation anywhere. Another thing that threw me off was when a certain barista handed off the completed drinks in the pickup area. She wasn't wearing gloves, and I don't think she washed her hands in-between tasks, but she was placing the drinks onto the counter while holding them by the top part, aka the lid from where people drink! I was shocked at how unbothered she was while doing that, as if that's how she was trained, or she was never corrected.

If I could afford the calories of eating bread every day, I'd be here daily. Every bread item we tried was incredible. The croissant was buttery and flaky, exactly as it should be. The baguette sandwich had the perfect balance of crunch and softness. And the toast soldiers were the ideal size and texture for scooping up the cheesy, creamy, eggy goodness in the jar.
