After getting off a red eye to Atlanta I searched yelp for a breakfast spot that was open at 6am and was disappointed at the options. While searching I noticed there was The Flying Biscuit Cafe that did not open till 8 AM. However, I had tried the flying biscuit in North Carolina and it was delicious so decided to wait it out. It was definitely the right call as breakfast did not disappoint. I had the drops of Jupiter, which is two fluffy pancakes and two chicken and sage sausage patties. It was not only delicious but also a big portion. My dad was with me and got the Piedmont omelette and he also really enjoyed his meal. Service was awesome and our waitress was attentive and friendly. The place was decorated colorfully and it definitely has a really fun vibe. read more

Quite overdue, but I wanted to take a moment to recognize this spot that brought me good memories during my times in Atlanta. Even though the wait was super long, space was limited and crowded, and not all food was consistently good, I still enjoyed my experience there and consider this place a must-go for those that visit Atlanta, at least for the experience. In terms of food quality, the fried green tomatoes were pretty standard in taste but were soggy in texture, and dipping them in the cashew-jalapeño relish, tangy goat cheese, or the buttermilk ranch offered three different types of flavors. The chicken and waffles were also pretty standard in flavor, with the chicken not too dry. The non-spicy version was still a bit soggy in texture just like some of the other dishes. The shrimp and grits relied completely on the tomato sauce for flavor because the grits themselves were underseasoned, which was interesting because all the side grits we had, the grits tasted just fine. The gravy tasted pretty good, and I remembered at some point we ordered a gravy dish that had tomatoes under the gravy, but couldn't quite remember the name of the dish anymore. The sausage patties and the scrambled eggs in the Flying Biscuit Breakfast dish were also dry, unfortunately, but had good enough flavor. Depending on the times, wait times can be long, especially at this location, which seemed to be the most popular one. My first time in Atlanta and was so excited to meet up with an old friend who had moved there and have brunch! Ended up having breakfast on a weekday as she had work that day but was pleased with her choice in eatery. I decided to go with the Piedmont Omelette and it was super tasty. The potatoes were great as well, the dish came with a biscuit but I'm not much of a biscuit guy so I can't report on that. I ordered some regular Orange Juice which wasn't even "freshly" made, that just came from one of O.J cartons that you find in most supermarkets. The place is always super busy and crowded. Brunch was busy the day of our visit but we only had to wait about five minutes outside until a table was readied. Tables were a little tight together. Ours was right next to a pillar and a wire rack of stuff behind me. There was a good mix of brunch choices from omelettes, chicken & waffles, scrambles, grits and more. We ended up trying the following: Best I Ever Had which was french toast but not the best we've eaten. Piedmont Omlette was filled with chicken it sausage. bacon, cheese and onions. It did seem like the omelette was a bit small versus the biscuit and bowl of grits. Overall food was as expected but we did like the creaminess and taste of their grits. Not sure I recall seeing a separate credit card processing charge posted anywhere or informed by our server but they added an extra 3.5% to our bill when we used it. Really needs to be clearly highlighted so it's not a surprise when asked to pay the bill after they've run the credit card. Service overall was good but next time in Atlanta we'll try another brunch spot. read more

We came to The Flying Biscuit Cafe this morning for breakfast. Lots of options, you come in with an appetite. My Chicken and waffles were okay. The waffles were a little over cooked, however the chicken was crispy and buttery. I coated with syrup all over the plate. The vibe was fun in the restaurant, staff was helpful and friendly, the table clothes were colorful and quirky. Southern breakfast food served all day. I am a visitor, not a local so please take this with grain of salt. The Flying Biscuit is F**KING AWESOME. Oatmeal pancakes and the chill, almost retro interior is amazing. I had the oatmeal pancake with peach compote and it was just good. Creamy grits were a chefs kiss, but the biscuit is world class. There are three kids of kind of biscuits: Hardees/Bojangles Cracker Barrel Chik Fil A That's it. The Flying Biscuit falls somewhere between Cracker Barrel and Chik Fil A. Not quite frozen per-made, but not exactly made fresh to order. If you are the type of person that judges biscuits baste on taste, instead of composition, then you'll probably complain. But Yankees always complain so they are used to it. I loved it here. Loved the biscuit, loved the pancake, loved the eggs. You're not paying for food quality, you're paying to have breakfast at 10th and Piedmont. read more

Solid breakfast spot. My favorite place for grits -super creamy. I had the open face biscuit with scrambled eggs, and gravy, with a side of the creamy grits. Their gravy doesn't have the traditional pork sausage, it's chicken, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but it was still very good. This location has a unique and cute layout, with winding windows throughout the place, making tables quite intimate. It was a lovely solo breakfast in the city. Pretty good brunch place in Atlanta and lives up to the hype! My friend and I came around 11am for brunch on Sunday, and there was a pretty long line. We waited around 25 minutes and we were only in the middle of the line, but luckily they had a space open up for a party of two so we were able to get in a little earlier. Service is super quick, with the waiter attending to you as soon as you arrive. I got the egg-stravaganza, and it was good! The French toast hit the sweet spot, just the right amount of sweetness from the sauces The breakfast burrito lived up to my expectations. I visited on Juneteenth, so the restaurant was understandably busy. With only one server covering the entire room, we waited about 30minutes to place our order and occasionally needed to flag down other staff for to‑go boxes and the check (which we were redirected to wait for our waitress after already waiting). Our server was clearly doing her best under pressure, and a bit of extra help from the rest of the team would have made the experience smoother. I ordered avocado toast. I think the toast was cut with a knife previously used because there was something black and smelly on the toast where it was cut. They remade it no problem. Our drinks all had an oily substance on top of them, making the drinks taste weird. They said it was from the milk in the drinks. My stomach ended up hurting. I think I drank a lot of the random oil sitting on top of my drink before I noticed. They discounted our meal for the inconvenience. I wouldn't eat at this location again as I don't think it's very sanitary due to all the issues we had with the food, but the items with no issues were actually really good. I got a vegan wrap also. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. I'm still interested in trying a different location, hoping for better results. read more

There was some dust and small particles on the window sills over the table. Some wrappers and paper trash under the table across from us. Our server and wait staff, Keke was good. She was straightforward and polite, and the order was correct. We ordered the Southern Scramble, and bacon, eggs and a biscuit. We were looking for a casual breakfast spot while in Atlanta and were recommended The Flying Biscuit Cafe. When we got there, there were already about 5 people waiting to be seated. We waited about 10-15 minutes, which gave us enough time to peruse their extensive menu. The cafe has a fun, colorful style inside. The servers were so polite and accommodating. We ordered the Piedmont omelette (3 eggs, chicken sage sausage, applewood bacon, onions, cheddar cheese + creamy dreamy grits and a fluffy flying biscuit) and the Dirty Bird (waffle, crispy buttermilk chicken tenders, two over medium eggs, and chicken sausage gravy). There was so much food, especially for the omelette! The omelette was packed with toppings and cheese. The creamy dreamy grits were aptly named; the best grits I've ever had! And the fluffy flying biscuit was exactly that...fluffy, perfectly salted, and paired beautifully with the apple butter. The Dirty Bird was also great. Food was interesting. I ordered a biscuit sandwich. The biscuit almost felt more like a soft English muffin than a true southern biscuit. The eggs were a bit drier than I like. The bacon was perfect. The potatoes had good flavor and if they were fresh, they would've been better but I had ordered to go so it took a while to get to them. I would definitely love to try the potatoes in person. Ordered the peaches and cream waffle breakfast. The waffle was great-- lightly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The peaches themselves were nothing too special but the flavor pairing was nice and seemed to fit the Georgia peach theme.
