Everything that we got was fresh and phenomenal. I am a pastry chef myself and this stuff was 12/10. The croissants had beautiful layers, the cheese danish was perfection with the thicker layer of cheese filling and the danish dough was strong enough to hold. The peanut butter cookie was the show stopper though. That thing was unlike any other peanut butter cookie I've ever experienced and I couldn't stop going back for more. The displays were simple and the selection was easy to navigate. I loved being able to see the production space as well. Loved, definitely will be back! read more

This bakery is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. And they create some amazing treats in their kitchen for those two days. Tomato pie was really good. Tomato paste on the tomato pie was tangy and delicious, bread had good texture, and was baked to a golden brown on the bottom. Green olive roll, focaccia bread, sour cherry pastry and chocolate orange croissant, were all very good, amazing. On the down side, peanut butter cookie was too thick and dried out. Saw this driving by on Mother's Day but it was closed . Went back on Monday and the note on the door said it was only open Friday - Sunday. Took a drive over on Friday. I was the first person there when it opened. I eat breakfast early, this place opens at 8am. Walked in , no bell, I could hear someone in the back. WaIted a few minutes and left. If I could leave a "0" I would. I placed a pre-order for today 11/22 at 10am on 11/7. The total was $79. When I looked up my receipt for the address, I noticed that the pick-up date was listed as 11/8 so I called them since their website noted that they were closed 11/22. No one answered so I left a message about picking up my items. All day long I could have received a call however the owner calls 50 minutes before they closed at supper time to say if I don't pick it up, I lose the $79. I asked if I could pick it up on Friday or Saturday as I was over a hour away. They aren't open for 2 weeks and she hung up on me. Excellent customer service- NOT!!! If you enjoy losing money and poor customer service, then this is the bakery for you. No more for me! And by the way, the owner left a VM where she says "F%#k you" on it. I love getting their tasty treats each week at the Emmaus Farmers Market. Besides the weekly pastry staples (sticky buns, cookies, croissants, flatbreads), there are adventurous new items like canneles and bostock. My favorite, hands-down, is the spinach-cheese croissant. It always makes me happy. The breads are quality - I particularly love their hemp bread. And there are usually containers of delicious soup you can stock up on for the week. read more

I had a great experience using the Flour Shop for my wedding cake. From out very first phone conversation to the actual cake on our wedding day it was wonderful dealing with them. When you're trying to plan a wedding while out of state having excellent customer service goes a long way. For our tasting the bakers provided us with 3 mini cakes of our choosing to sample, and they were very generous portions, so much so that we had plenty to take home and share. We opted with a 3 tier cake with one layer of chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache and two layers of white cake with marscapone and raspberries with a whipped topping. I hate fondant and they were more than willing to work around that. My cake was stunning and tasted delicious. We had plenty leftover and they provided a 1 year anniversary cake as well. read more

I've now come here a few times... and I'm already addicted to their caramel sea salt brownies. When I drop in and they're out of them, it makes me very cranky! Be warned: this delectable treat will last a normal person (which is what I mostly consider myself) at least two days, but sometimes three. It's large enough to share (if you're so inclined) or spread out it's goodness over a few days... it's rich, decadent and sinfully delish-sh-sh-shus...!! The Flour Shop Bakery is my first stop at the Emmaus Farmers Market each week...I know that a weekly cookie is NOT a good habit, but how can you resist their cookies?!?! They are huge, they are fresh, they are made with high quality ingredients, and they are large enough to share, and have for more than a day. Hurrah! I'll give up dessert the rest of the week for half of one of those cookies. I've also had their croissants, cupcakes and a few other treats, but that $1.50 cookie is a bargain. Sometimes I chomp away while I walk through the market, but if I'm being good, I put it in my satchel for later that day. I have only had their baked goods from the Emmaus Farmer's Market thus far. Favorites are the cinnamon raisin brioche loaf (my son demands this every time we're out visiting my parents in PA. EXCELLENT sliced thick and toasted.) Also, the chocolate peanut butter cookies - OH, DEAR GOD. They are a deep, deep, deep dark chocolate brown color. I was mesmerized by the beautiful color alone - the taste does not disappoint. These are the best peanut butter style of cookie I have EVER HAD. I am such a fan of this place! The Flour Shop is the only place in the Lehigh Valley I have found that makes authentic, potato based faustnaughts. The Birthday cake I ordered looked beautiful and tasted divine (2 layer chocolate cake with peanutbutter icing). In addition, the owner Mike has opened early for me on 2 seperate occasions. If you are looking for a muffin or danish this place is great, but DO NOT order a cake here. I ordered a salted caramel cake for my anniversary. I was told that even though it was a special order that they could make it. Instead of making caramel, salting said caramel with a reasonable amount of salt and then adding the caramel to buttercream icing, very large crystals of sea salt seemed to have been mixed directly into and throughout the icing. We tried our best to eat it but couldn't even finish a slice. I was picking large pieces of salt out of my mouth as I ate it and it gave us stomach aches. I took the cake back uneaten and told the baker who had made it. She was very apologetic and stated that she had never made one before. She said she would make a new cake and have it done by the end of the week for me. Later that day a woman named Mary who claimed to be the owner called and told me that I would not be getting a new cake. That I got what I had ordered and it was my fault that I did not like it. I expressed my concerns and said that I would have loved to have kept the cake, but I really couldn't eat it because of the amount of salt in it. She told me that salt does not dissolve in caramel (?!?). She refused to give me store credit, a new cake or a refund and then hung up on me. I was visiting this bakery once a week, but I will not be returning. I have never been treated so rudely by someone. I didn't even bring up the fact with Mary that the cake and icing were very heavy and not very good. So even without the failed icing I wouldn't recommend this bakery if you are looking for a cake. Bottom line: terrible customer service, extremely rude and uncompromising owner, heavy cake and icing, don't order something speciality read more

One thing Bethlehem is missing are family owned bakeries. We have ordered a few cakes from here and are very impressed with how beautiful they are. On 3 occasions I've dropped off invitation and they have designed the cake to match! Very creative. A little on the pricy side but it's worth it for the detail they put into their cakes! We have tried other items as well, the brownies are very good and they sell granola from time to time too that is very yummy, pricy but yummy!!! I first found out about this place at the Sunday's Emmaus farmer's market. Their black bottom cupcakes, tea biscuits, filled croissants are so good. Then last Saturday I went to the Easton farmer's market. Come to those farmer's markets early. The danish is so good. Everything I have got so far has ranked higher then any other bakery so far. Now I have not been to their store. I would be afraid to. Due to doing heavy damage to my bank account.. But I rather spend my dollar locally then some where else that god only knows what's in their bake goods at other bakeries. I will be stick with the flour shop! read more

We see them at the Easton farmers market. Excellent product. Cabbage streudel is savory and delicious. Everything is thought through from the crostini toppings to the cucumber jalapeño salad they use as a side for the paninis. Oh and their bread is great too. read more

Their sticky were made by rolling the dough out, adding the sticky cinnamen filling and then rolling it up. Now they are just dough with the sticky cinemen added to the outside of a heap of dough. Not good anymore. Their cranberry scones were thin triangles of pastry just perfect to eat in the car. Leaving the scone in its bag you could just break off a chunk and eat it as you were driving. Any crumbs were kept in the bag. now what you get is a softball size of dough which ou cannot just break off a chunk. you need a knike and plate to eat it. quality is slowly going downhill as they try to short cut their processes. for shame. I got a sticky bun from the near by Gian and it was prepared th way stick buns should be made. read more

While their other desserts and pastries may be good.....DO NOT GET YOUR WEDDING CAKE HERE!!! I ordered my wedding cake from The Flour Shop Bakery after having a great tasting at the bakery. We fell in love with the Vanilla Cake with Lemon Curd filling and the Almond Cake with Fresh Berries and Bavarian Cream. The cake we received at our wedding tasted NOTHING like the cake at the tasting. The cakes tasted like typical box cake with mediocre filling- very disappointing. Aside from the cake flavors...the appearance and design of the cake was very sad. We ordered a 3 tiered cake with ivory fondant ruffles and mauve fondant flowers. We ordered fondant because our wedding was outside in August and we suspected buttercream would not hold well...The cake we received was completely buttercream and by the time the reception came it was melting and tilting. The were no ruffles, only what appeared to be an uneven icing job.The flowers (also buttercream) looked like flowers anyone could make with a Ziploc bag and store bought icing. The tasting and cakes on display at the bakery were very misleading and not what was delivered on our wedding day. read more

I ordered my birthday cake over the phone, paid with a c.c. and just picked it up. Easy as cake. I was throwing my own birthday party, and requested a chocolate peanut butter cake, masculine in style, no flowers, no writing, and asked if they incorporate the silver balls, often found decorating wedding cakes. It was perfect! There was a chocolate ganache on the top, dripping down the sides, with green vines coming up the sides. The silver b.b.'s I requested, which I think are called dragees, were scattered on top, and were different sizes, giving it a "stary sky" look. Most importantly was how good the cake tasted. I ordered my daughter a white cake with fresh strawberries for her 10th Birthday, and it was the best I've ever had. Fresh cream icing, fresh strawberries, almond flavor. The cake was so big, we had to give some to the guests, and neighbors. I ate 3 pieces, and couldn't stop. Outstanding! It is a hit and miss sort of place. Peanut butter fudge cake was delicious , but a little heavy . Bread was very good but can only get it on certain days, so call ahead.
