I have been coming here for a very long time well over 20 years. When I moved to Bethlehem, I came here more regularly, especially once I had children. They always do a sundae in a kid size, we frequent here very often at least once a month.. we came a few days ago and all of a sudden they said they can't do kids sundaes. Trying to tell me that basically I'm crazy making it up or something. I had to order everything for my kids sundae on the side and I'm glad that I still got a kid size because he didn't even finish the kid size. Absolutely insane it makes me want to write a bad review because I really wasn't treated with good customer satisfaction. I order numerous other things as well so it's not like I was just ordering one kid sundae. It's gonna make me not really wanna come back honestly. Usually the sundaes are really good and I did go because I wanted to try the strawberry waffle, which was not good. The waffle was extremely soggy so I definitely would not recommend ordering that. This is a really awesome local ice cream shop in Bethlehem PA. They stay open late until 10pm each night and they have tons of flavors that are locally made. I got German Chocolate Cake flavor on a waffle bowl and they added hot fudge at my request. Absolutely delicious and decadent. What more can you want from ice cream? Bethlehem Dairy Store (aka "The Cup") is a historic ice cream parlor and dairy store that opened in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1927. It was founded by Clifton Mowrer Sr. Originally named "Mowrers' Dairy Store", most customers referred to the establishment as "The Cup" due to the building's resemblance to a large milkshake cup. In 1954, the store was merged with the dairy operations of Suncrest Farms, with Mowrer serving as the president of Suncrest Farms until 1967. It was around this time when a larger building was constructed and the business was renamed "Bethlehem Dairy Store". In 1983, the business was sold to business partners Bill Burkhardt and Frederick Buckenmeyer. A secondary location, dubbed "The Cup at Lehigh", opened on the campus of Lehigh University in 2002. The Cup serves over 40 flavors of ice cream, as well as no sugar added ice cream, soft serve, sherbet, frozen yogurt, milkshakes, ice cream cakes, apple dumplings and Belgian waffles. My family and I visited the Cup this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. Our cousins told us all about an excellent ice cream parlor in town, so we all went for a drive after dinner. We were really impressed by the huge selection of flavors that they had. I was also interested to see that they also make Belgian waffles, which were advertised as "just like the ones served at the 1964 New York World's Fair". It just so happens that my father and both of my in-laws attended that fair, so I'm sure that they would have gotten a kick out of that. I ended up getting a cup of "Banana Peanut Butter", my wife had a cup of "Georgia Peach", and both of our sons had cups of "Cookie Monster". Was surprised by the directions to find this little ice cream gem hidden off the beaten path.... Frankly any path near the epicenters of Bethlehem. Point is, it was well worth the extra drive time for our first ice cream treat of the summer season. Parking on site plus on street, organized with waiting. There is a line up outside but luckily under a tent so you don't melt waiting. They have an electronic indicator at the door informing next step in. Again, very organized. Bethlehem Dairy Store - The Cup - Mowrer's Depending on how long you've been in the area, one or more the names may apply to what this place has been called but at the end of the day, the one overriding theme here would be: Same as It Ever Was. Two random bullet points: Yes, this place does get insanely busy. The one thing that has changed is that since the pandemic, they've instituted a red/green stop light system for entering the building and a retractable rope set up for crowd queueing/control. Is it needed? At times, definitely. Don't want to deal with that? Head to their location on the southside on Lehigh's campus. You do sacrifice not having all of the flavors that this location has, but the Lehigh location is basically no wait, ever, especially in summer. The flavors are the flavors. A few Yelpers have things overstated in this area. Some things are made on site, others are not. Just like the majority of the flavors have been available for decades without fail. Sure, there are a few seasonal things, but it's only a few and they are not done in short runs. As an example, you'll see the pumpkin flavors in late September-early October the same as you'll see them two or three months later. Sure, every so often the milkshake I get maybe isn't as thick as it should be or my wife's sundae is 3/4 full versus the cup actually being filled with product but the overall appeal to coming here is their consistency and to a degree, in Bethlehem, where else are you going to go for a comparable experience? read more

My brother ordered the mint Oreo and chocolate brownie 10/10 strawberry cheesecake (wish there were real strawberries but still creamy and tasty) 8/10 chocolate raspberry (not too big of a fan for the raspberry syrup, but chocolate base was very rich) 10/10 mint Oreo (actual chunks of Oreo!) 10/10 chocolate brownie (love the bites of brownies!) Amazing ice cream, probably the best i've had in a while! However the only reason I am rating this as a 4 instead of a 5 is because of my milkshake. I order a plain vanilla milkshake and it did not taste good at all. In my experience of vanilla milkshakes, they normally taste like some sort of vanilla ice cream with milk but this... this just tasted like spoiled milk. I would have loved to enjoy it but I just couldn't. The ice cream here is some of the best! I really enjoyed the pumpkin and pumpkin cheesecake ice creams in the fall. As good as a cup of their ice cream is, I especially love the milkshakes. Every milkshake flavor I've tried so far has made me very happy - eggnog, peanut butter cup, dulce de leche, chocolate, and strawberry. The seasonal eggnog is my favorite so far. On my most recent visit, I found out you can mix two flavors for a milkshake which gives their extensive flavor list even more delicious options.
