German chocolate cake on a waffle bowl with hot fudge on top.

This is a really awesome local ice cream shop in Bethlehem PA. They stay open late until 10pm each night and they have tons of flavors that are locally made. I got German Chocolate Cake flavor on a waffle bowl and they added hot fudge at my request. Absolutely delicious and decadent. What more can you want from ice cream? And it seems to be continuously crowded so it's definitely doing something right!

Bethlehem Dairy Store (aka "The Cup") is a historic ice cream parlor and dairy store that opened in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1927. It was founded by Clifton Mowrer Sr. Originally named "Mowrers' Dairy Store", most customers referred to the establishment as "The Cup" due to the building's resemblance to a large milkshake cup. In 1954, the store was merged with the dairy operations of Suncrest Farms, with Mowrer serving as the president of Suncrest Farms until 1967. It was around this time when a larger building was constructed and the business was renamed "Bethlehem Dairy Store". In 1983, the business was sold to business partners Bill Burkhardt and Frederick Buckenmeyer. A secondary location, dubbed "The Cup at Lehigh", opened on the campus of Lehigh University in 2002. The Cup serves over 40 flavors of ice cream, as well as no sugar added ice cream, soft serve, sherbet, frozen yogurt, milkshakes, ice cream cakes, apple dumplings and Belgian waffles. My family and I visited the Cup this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. Our cousins told us all about an excellent ice cream parlor in town, so we all went for a drive after dinner. We were really impressed by the huge selection of flavors that they had. I was also interested to see that they also make Belgian waffles, which were advertised as "just like the ones served at the 1964 New York World's Fair". It just so happens that my father and both of my in-laws attended that fair, so I'm sure that they would have gotten a kick out of that. I ended up getting a cup of "Banana Peanut Butter", my wife had a cup of "Georgia Peach", and both of our sons had cups of "Cookie Monster". We were all happy with our choices; this is really good ice cream. If you're looking for a delicious frozen treat in Bethlehem, then look no further than the Cup!

Amazing ice cream!! All the flavors looked delicious! I ordered the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate raspberry -- $6.50 for a large two scoops. My brother ordered the mint Oreo and chocolate brownie 10/10 strawberry cheesecake (wish there were real strawberries but still creamy and tasty) 8/10 chocolate raspberry (not too big of a fan for the raspberry syrup, but chocolate base was very rich) 10/10 mint Oreo (actual chunks of Oreo!) 10/10 chocolate brownie (love the bites of brownies!) Highly recommend swinging by and grabbing a scoop or two! There is plenty of parking and options. There's milkshakes, sundaes, gelatos, frozen yogurt, ice cream cookie sandwiches, ice cream cake and many other combinations of them!

On a nice day you may need to wait a bit to get in (they have a tent setup outside, and stop light system to let you know when you can come in) but it's well worth the wait. This place has everything. Home made ice cream, yogurt, soft serve, no sugar added ice cream, sherbet. There are lots of lots of ice cream flavors - there's a full list on their website. I shared a banana split with Dulce de Leche, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Chocolate. Amazing.

The line for this place was fairly long, but it went by pretty fast. They always change up their flavors on a weekly basis. The specials when I went were soft Black Raspberry & Strawberry flavors. The Strawberry soft serve was delicious. I recommend it. It was just the right amount that they gave out. It was nice and fluffy too. I would go back if I was in the area.

We just keep coming back. By far the best ice cream in the LV. We prefer this location to Lehigh location for the long list of flavors available and the true old school vibe. Everything is just delicious and the counter staff are always friendly and knowledgeable.

I decided to go with a scoop of strawberry and a scoop of Madagascar Vanilla. They have a limited list of flavors at MusikFest but both of those sounded good on a Very hot day. The strawberry was solid. Had chunks of strawberry in it and it was creamy and didn't have any freezer crystals or anything. The vanilla however was incredible. This had the cleanest "real" vanilla taste I've ever gotten from an ice cream. It's been days and I'm still thinking about it, it's a real problem. I'm sure it was MusikFest prices but 2 scoops was near $8. I'm not even mad about it, that vanilla is worth it and the guy working was very friendly and helpful. Batch absolutely - Didn't Suck!

Terrible experience…read more The employee asked if I wanted whipped cream and a cherry, giving me the option to choose. I politely declined. When it was time to pay, she told me that because I didn't get whipped cream and a cherry, I wasn't eligible for the Wednesday BOGO promotion. I visit Carvel frequently for the Wednesday BOGO deal, and I have never been told that whipped cream and cherries were required to receive the promotion. In fact, I've never gotten whipped cream or cherries on my cups before and have always received the BOGO discount without any issue. When I questioned the policy, the employee started arguing with me and responded, "Yeah, I asked you if you wanted it," which only proved my point--she presented it as an option, not as a requirement. She then pointed to a printed sign that said "No substitutions." I asked why she offered me the choice in the first place if declining the toppings meant I would lose the promotion. She never answered that question. To make matters even more confusing, I did choose whipped cream and a cherry on one of my sundaes. When she handed it to me, the cherry fell off, and I told her not to worry about replacing it because it wasn't a big deal. I then asked if she could simply put the whipped cream and cherry on the side for the second sundae so the promotion could still be honored, but she refused. The entire interaction was confusing, inconsistent, and unnecessarily argumentative. If whipped cream and cherries are truly required for the Wednesday BOGO promotion, customers should be informed before they're asked whether they want them--not after they're told they no longer qualify for the promotion. Clear communication and consistent customer service would have prevented this frustrating experience.
