Green bubble tea
Casey S.

Reviewer Brian P says the green tea bubble tea was delicious ?!?! to me it looked like a science project it had 1 boba and smelled like cotton candy not the place for boba tea ! They do have stellar chili here !!! Def the place to go for decent chili otherwise I've not tried much of the menu!

When I entered the cafe, I was greeted with warm welcomes and friendly smiles. I like the midtown urban feel of this café, as it makes me feel like I'm up with the trends. The food was very delicious and I would come back for seconds anytime!

Great service and generous portions. Coconut curry chicken soup, pho and spring rolls were quite tasty.

Bed Head Vegan Brunch House - Cinnamon roll - yummy!!

Bed Head Vegan Brunch House

I met up with a friend of mine who's also vegan…read more The restaurant itself is small, with about four or five booths and a couple of two- to four-person tables. There's a bathroom that's a little narrow, but it was clean. When I first walked in, I was starving and a bit tired, so I ordered their peppermint latte. It was absolutely delicious--creamy, smooth, and perfectly warm. I've seen other reviews mentioning that their drinks were served cold, but mine was just right. I loved it so much I ended up ordering a second one. For food, I started with their coconut yogurt granola parfait. I didn't expect it to be anything special, but it turned out to be the best coconut yogurt parfait I've ever had. It was sweet--but not too sweet--and perfectly balanced. Next, I ordered the gluten-free waffles topped with a fruit compote, along with a side of their Bed Head hash and vegan bacon. Everything was incredibly flavorful. I couldn't believe how delicious it all tasted. My friend got the chicken and waffles and enjoyed his meal just as much. I loved it so much that I came back one more time after that--and, of course, I had to get the waffles again. The food here is outstanding, and I recommend it to everyone, whether you're vegan or not. Just keep in mind that the space is small, they don't take reservations, and street parking is limited--you may want to arrive a few minutes early to find a spot. Overall, it's an amazing place. Definitely give it a try.

It was 10 by the time we decided to call it and ask about if the food was coming or not. However, we had a pretty simple order, French toast and a biscuit. We saw two tables have their order sent back for different reasons, one got their order wrong and the second admitted their menu was written incorrectly. We waited 45 minutes for our food and in that time saw two tables that came after get their food before us. We were told the kitchen was backed up and they had no idea when it would come out. They had one chef doing all of the cooking and that really slowed them down. We understand waiting, but the lack of service or communication did it. Plus we were charged for the coffee at double the price. Their menu said chai latte was $3 or 3.50 and it was nearly $7. Such a lie and clearly quite a bit needs to be worked out here. They can communicate the wait so people know what to expect. Cannot recommend anyone come here even though the food looked good. Horrible staff and do not tell you about the wait.

I recently visited this vegan bakery and tried two of their tarts. First, I want to talk about the…read moretaste. They were fine - good, but nothing crazy or out of this world. I've definitely had better vegan treats before, especially for the price point. One thing that really stood out to me was that there were no prices listed near the tarts or baked goods. Normally that might not be a huge issue, but in this case, I think it's important. When the cashier told us our total was $34, I honestly thought he was joking or had accidentally charged us for a small cake or something. We didn't question it at the time and just paid. Once we got to the car, we started second-guessing whether there had been a mistake. I even went online and checked their ordering page to confirm the prices. To my surprise, there was no error - the tarts are actually $17 each. I can usually justify higher prices if the food is truly exceptional, made with rare or unique ingredients, or if part of the proceeds go toward a meaningful cause. In this case, though, I didn't feel the quality matched the cost. There are several vegan bakeries in NJ that offer better-tasting treats at more reasonable prices. At that price point, I truly hope the workers behind the counter are earning well above minimum wage and that their hourly pay reflects what this place charges for a single tart. If customers are paying premium prices, it would be reassuring to know that the staff is benefiting from that as well. Overall, I think listing prices clearly in-store would help customers avoid sticker shock at checkout. Transparency goes a long way.

We were seated right away in an open format atmosphere with the best balance of light and dark. The bar across from us looked fantastic. What we noticed right from the start is how well the staff works with and for each other to bring guests the best dining experience possible. Maddie was our server. She was kind, professional, patient, and knowledgable about both food and drink on a grand scale. Her recommendations were stellar. I had a refreshing gin and basil martini as well as their beef carpaccio, which was absolutely fantastic. My girlfriend started with their beef stew, which was thick and satisfying. It was so delicious, she almost canceled her entree to have more. She went with the home cooking route and indulged in their meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes. Although she loved that as well, half had to come home with her, which made for an excellent lunch the next day. I went with the raw of it all and got their spectacular tuna tartare with asparagus, radish, and rice. Usually, the tuna is cut into strips but this tremendous block of gorgeous fish knocked me out. Absolutely fantastic from presentation to flavor. For dessert, we got their brownie with ice cream and this was all upper level in taste and texture. I would be shocked if their ice cream hadn't been made in-house. We loved our first experience with Apollo and we look forward to our next visit, which is hopefully sooner than later.

Thank goodness we planned some flexibility after the meal before our show started. But the real downer of the meal was Alison. Food that's absolutely a must order include the hummus platter, with extraordinary fresh bread. and the baklava. Both are epic! I had the lunch special, which was lamb kebabs with white rice. Lamb was ok but not remarkably spiced nor that tender. But it was good. The rice was a bit mushy and there was little to no dressing on the salad nor the red cabbage on the dish. Would have loved to have had something more like rice pilaf. Requested some white yogurt dressing on the side and this brought it together. I don't think one can judge a place based on the lunch special so I will definitely be returning to try more of their entrées that they're known for. The place was packed so clearly locals know this is a good place to go!

Incredible speakers like journalist Will Potter, author Victoria Moran, and the owner of Vegan Treats. More animal rescue/advocacy groups were here this time. You had to fight to be close to the large Vegan Treats tent. We missed the Cinnamon Snail truck with their tender maple bourbon donuts but were charmed by the Pizza Wagon: the best one had cauliflower puree, roasted potatoes, rosemary, and onion, OMG. We will plan better next year to get in on more cooking demonstrations -- you can get full with the samples they hand out. This festival is free, and oh the parade of gorgeous dogs. I paid to get in the pen with piglets of Ross Mill Farm and enjoyed every second of it, even being nibbled because I had just had pizza in my hand. Saw friends from several counties. Just a wonderful friendly vibe. We left with takeout and wish it had gone on longer, Another good thing is that vendors actually stay until the end and don't pack up early. I see this expanding. Thank goodness because we were starving, having not eaten in preparation for a day of VegFest binging. We split an apple turnover and a small spinach pie from the Snail while we waited for our two tempeh sandwiches. The sandwiches came out quickly and we split the Thai tempeh (very spicy but very tasty) and the kale and mustard tempeh (very tasty as well). Both were served on very good millet bread. I would have prefered a little more variety, maybe one on a baguette or something, but overall I was incredibly satisfied. Not too full for more food though! I also noshed on a a bite of a pretzel-shaped sweet and salty doughnut from Vegan Treats, who had an absolutely wonderful spread of desserts. The doughnut was just ok, I took home two lemon bars that were out of this world good. Finally, I split a vegan cheesesteak empenada with my husband; it was pretty bland. However, it was great to have so many options to try all in one place. I also purchased two items of clothing: one festival T-shirt in a gorgeous periwinkle color. The T had a cool saying on the front and a pretty logo on the back, but it's just a boring straight T, I would've prefered a fancy organic washed out cotton. I may have to alter it when I get home, turn it into a boat neck or something like the refashionista (look her up!) Also purchased an absolutely gorgeous open neck turquoise, soft as butter sweatshirt that had a elephant herbivore logo. I'm in love with this item from Grape Cat. Luckily they accepted Visa because I was running out of cash fast at this fest!
