I recently visited this vegan bakery and tried two of their tarts. First, I want to talk about the taste. They were fine - good, but nothing crazy or out of this world. I've definitely had better vegan treats before, especially for the price point. One thing that really stood out to me was that there were no prices listed near the tarts or baked goods. Normally that might not be a huge issue, but in this case, I think it's important. When the cashier told us our total was $34, I honestly thought he was joking or had accidentally charged us for a small cake or something. We didn't question it at the time and just paid. Once we got to the car, we started second-guessing whether there had been a mistake. I even went online and checked their ordering page to confirm the prices. To my surprise, there was no error - the tarts are actually $17 each. I can usually justify higher prices if the food is truly exceptional, made with rare or unique ingredients, or if part of the proceeds go toward a meaningful cause. In this case, though, I didn't feel the quality matched the cost. There are several vegan bakeries in NJ that offer better-tasting treats at more reasonable prices. At that price point, I truly hope the workers behind the counter are earning well above minimum wage and that their hourly pay reflects what this place charges for a single tart. If customers are paying premium prices, it would be reassuring to know that the staff is benefiting from that as well. Overall, I think listing prices clearly in-store would help customers avoid sticker shock at checkout. Transparency goes a long way. read more

After dinner last nite, we looked on Yelp for a gluten free dessert place and this place popped up which closes at 9pm. While we tried calling them but no one picked up, we did manage to stop by their place last nite. My wife picked up a GF carrot cake (for $17) and she said it was very delicious and moist. Also, she bought a cowboy cookie for the road today. While it may be a tad pricey, honestly for a GF joint, it is worth coming in and try. They have other ample selections and the staffs are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely would recommend. read more

Yikes. The baked goods are fine (by no means the best I've ever had), but oh my god one mini individual sized cake is $18, and prices aren't listed ANYWHERE in the store. I didn't know this until my order was boxed and bagged, but my god, please put prices on things. I don't care how delicious they are, cost, etc, customers deserve to know the price before paying. The only way to see the price is to go to the curbside pick up ordering section on their website. I felt way too embarrassed to say forget it at this point in my transaction, but this is a really shady way to do business and for this reason, I won't be back. Not cool. This is one of my favorite places to make a detour to. It is a quiet spot on a little block and if you drive too fast you will miss it. Service is very friendly and as sweet as their desserts. It is so hard to pick just one so I take a few for the road. Excellent vegan desserts! read more

They were kind, they were patient, they were empathetic, they were super responsive, they were flexible... all of this through email! For me personally, though, the chocolate is a miss. I tried an assortment through their Halloween box, which - again, major props to them - was perfectly packaged and had beautiful artwork! The 14 pieces of premium, handmade chocolates for $90 featured blackout espresso cream pumpkins (our favorite from the selection, they were so rich and coffee forward), milk chocolate peanut butter skulls (a flavor combo that always works), maple chai shaped leaves (... there was something strangely sour about these), white chocolate pumpkin cake pops/white chocolate pistachio praline/white chocolate strawberry crunch domes (lumping these together because we didn't like any of them [and that's nearly half the box]; the only thing that we could taste was the thick, waxy white chocolate which we weren't fans of), a hazelnut praline raven-shaped bar and almond butter toffee crunch banner bar (these two go together because they both had such gritty textures), and a caramel raven which I don't even remember. It's important to note that they only ship their chocolates/seasonal treats a few times of year (like major candy-forward holidays), so be sure to follow them on Instagram for details. Still the absolute best Boston cream donuts around! I drive here about once every other year from Philadelphia. It's about an hour drive but so worth it I load my freezer up with a ton of items. I also love that they have soft serve ice cream always available. Staff is usually friendly. And the ambience is really cute as well. We are so lucky to have such a famous and popular vegan bakery here in Bethlehem. And for a vegan bakery, the desserts are surprisingly decadent; it's easy to forget they're vegan! But they are all very, very sweet. Almost all of the offerings are heavy on the frosting-- lots of cakes, whoopie pies, and "bombs." Everything tastes like sugar and oil, leaving a greasy (or plasticky, like some folks have said) feeling in the mouth. When we first came here I thought we'd be here all the time but the richness and oiliness is a big turnoff. It would be great if there were a wider range of 'treats,' maybe some relying more on fruit, or more savory flavors... The cookies are by far the best of the selection, but even those can be hit or miss. I've been following Vegan Treats on Instagram for quite some time now. These dreamy, luscious vegan delicacies were worth the wait (and the hour drive). Ordering was easy. The glass case at the entrance had everything named and displayed for customer convenience. The employees were attentive and ready to assist. I ordered Peanut Butter Cup cheesecake (forgot to take a picture so you won't see it in my review), Hazelnut Praline cheesecake on a stick and Lemon cheesecake. It still blows my mind that everything they make is vegan. Out of the three, the lemon was the top flavor in my opinion. Coming in second place is the Peanut Butter Cup. Both of these were very rich in flavor and texture. My least favorite was the hazelnut praline on a stick because I could taste the stick with each bite. Perhaps it was because it sat in my fridge for a little over 24 hours. In the future, I'd love to try their cookies, brownies and chocolate bars. They also had a drink cooler and merchandise available for purchase. Everything was really cute! I wasn't sure I'd ever have these delicacies again. Fast forward to two weeks ago. As soon as I realized we would be even remotely near Bethlehem I told my friends we MUST go. If this was 2003, I would have printed out the map mapquest directions! The quality of the pastries just as good, if not better, than I remember. Years ago I bought the cowboy cookie and cheese danish. I was happy to see they were still on the menu and available when we arrived around 530 on a Friday night. I also ordered two strawberry pies because I couldn't decide and didn't wanna choose. The strawberry key lime cheesecake had what looked like strawberry printed paper (edible of course) and the crust was buttery. It was my absolute favorite! But the strawberry cream pie was SO creamy and I'm still wondering how that works without dairy. Mind blown! The crust was also this corn but crumbly like graham cracker (clearly I'm terrible at describing) thing that was delicious! The only thing I wouldn't order again is the red velvet bun. Loveee loveeee loveeeeeeee this place! I first discovered their donuts in a restaurant in NY. I tried the boston cream donut and was blown away! I had to know where the donut came from. On a trip to PA one day we stopped in and got a little bit of everything. This has now become my favorite vegan spot even much so that I will drive the 2 hours just to go there. This visit I picked up a cake for my birthday. I was sad that they only offer the donuts on the weekend. If you have not tried this place yet you much stop in even if you are not vegan. It's hard to find a display case more beautiful than the one at Vegan Treat. It is filled with decorated 4" cakes and cheesecakes, cookies, doughnuts, and other pastries. There various staples as well as rotating special treats like creme brulee doughnuts, tres leches cake, sift serve ice cream, and more. They also have gluten free items. Ice cream is oatmilk based and flavors change every week. I was a little bummed that the flavors on the schedule (strawberry cheesecake and brownie batter) were not available when I went. Right now, one customer (or a group of up to 3 who traveled together) are allowed in the show at a time. There was a line outside and it moves quite slowly. You can order on-line, text when you arrive, and they will put it on the table outside for pickup. Not clear if everything in the shop is available to order on-line. read more

I lose my mind when I enter VT. Everything looks delicious and the treats taste better than they look. The LV area is void of fully vegan places especially in recent times (Paranormal Pizza closed due to a fire, VegOut owner going thru health issues) and this bakery provides relief with fully vegan options. I'm happy this place exists but my waist line always fears the outcome when I binge. It's a very small bakery with 2-3 tables so I prefer taking out my treats. I've seen people eat ice cream during summers so I definitely need to check that out. I've been to this store three times in the last year. There's a Lotta good stuff here, but some misses also. #1-most of the time the soft serve flavors are disappointing. Seems like they making flavors for kids: they often have candy flavors. Particularly on the weekends this seems to be the case. I went about two weeks ago and had the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever eaten. I also ordered a cookie dough cake and confetti cake. I did not like the cookie dough cake but the confetti was good. It was filled with raspberry and had fondant on top. I went again today and they were out of all except 3 flavors of cookies. It was disappointing to not have any chocolate chip. I purchased the confetti cake again. This time the cake was rubbery and did not have raspberry filling. I'm not sure why. I will go back because that chocolate chip cookie was amazing. I give only four stars simply because of consistency with the cake. read more
