She was very personable and polite. Her bakery items was tasty and moist. Just the way I like it. She also allowed me to try her new ricotta cookie, which was a wildcard for me. Went to my surprise. I've definitely had better vegan treats before, especially for the price point. One thing that really stood out to me was that there were no prices listed near the tarts or baked goods. Normally that might not be a huge issue, but in this case, I think it's important. When the cashier told us our total was $34, I honestly thought he was joking or had accidentally charged us for a small cake or something. We didn't question it at the time and just paid. Once we got to the car, we started second-guessing whether there had been a mistake. I even went online and checked their ordering page to confirm the prices. To my surprise, there was no error - the tarts are actually $17 each. I can usually justify higher prices if the food is truly exceptional, made with rare or unique ingredients, or if part of the proceeds go toward a meaningful cause. In this case, though, I didn't feel the quality matched the cost. There are several vegan bakeries in NJ that offer better-tasting treats at more reasonable prices. At that price point, I truly hope the workers behind the counter are earning well above minimum wage and that their hourly pay reflects what this place charges for a single tart. If customers are paying premium prices, it would be reassuring to know that the staff is benefiting from that as well. Overall, I think listing prices clearly in-store would help customers avoid sticker shock at checkout. Transparency goes a long way.
