This place is amazing. I love the county fair-like menu. And OMG the blueberry pancakes are truly remarkable.

Kathy's Country Kitchen - Onion rings, sooo good

'Country Kitchens' are never in the middle... They're either very good, or very bad. I'm happy to…read moresay that THIS country kitchen is outstanding. I was in Quakerstown to scout out the route the Big Boy steam engine will be taking from Philadelphia westward to Wyoming, and I asked Yelp for dinner recommendations. I decided to give Kathy's a try and was very glad I did. The place is small, with a small dining room with it's own entrance next to the storefront that sells the sweets (ice cream and milkshakes). The food was very good - I had a chili that was not bland nor too spicy, and had my first apple dumpling in over 30 years - it was outstanding - the pastry crust was just sweet enough. I'll definitely be back again.

Terrific across the board! It's funny how you end up at places sometimes. We chose Kathy's…read morespecifically for its location (halfway in between our house and a friend's), and that, other than the fact that they serve breakfast, was the only criterion. But what we got was breakfast awesomeness. It's small, with a cozy, "country" feel, as you might expect. Cute. Coffee was strong and plentiful, served in those great diner-style mugs that keep things piping hot for a good long time. Servers were totally on top of their game (the place was jumpin' so they really had to be) and all had that combination of "I'm super nice and glad you're here, but don't you dare slow me down" goodness. And the food? The food was fantastic! Each of the five people in our group got something different, and everyone was super happy with what they got, from cinnamon-raisin French toast with apple butter to a garden vegetable skillet to corned beef hash eggs Benedict. I went simple with a breakfast sandwich with a fluffy scrambled egg, thick-cut pork roll, and Cooper sharp on the lightest, airiest Kaiser roll I've ever had. And do no sleep on their thick cut bacon, which is meaty and delicious and coated in a buttery mapley goodness that tasted like Heaven. Things to note: they only take cash, and on the weekends, there's an hour limit (meaning you can't dawdle) so they don't have lines piling up outside. Breakfast for five of us was just under $80, so reasonably priced. We had a great time. And the next time we go, it'll be because it's just a great spot.

Drip is an American Restaurant located on Main St. in Hellertown. They specialize in burgers,…read morechicken sandwiches, and milkshakes. "Grab one, have a seat, fill it out, hand it in." That's how they do things at Drip. Instead of a server taking your order verbally, you fill out a paper menu. My buddies and I started off sharing three appetizers; Bavarian pretzels, fried cheese, and Nicky's Chicky wings. The pretzels were buttered, salted, and served with cheese sauce. The fried cheese was lightly breaded and served with a delicious garlic aioli. The cheese pull on these bad boys was insane! The wings were tender, but not crispy. The Nicky's Chicky sauce tasted like a normal BBQ sauce. After sampling all of the appetizers, I moved on to the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries and mac n' cheese. I didn't love the seasoning on the chicken sandwich, but the chicken itself was great quality and cooked to perfection. The fries were seasoned very well, but served lukewarm. The mac n' cheese was creamy, cheesy, and the noodles weren't overcooked like most places. Our server was welcoming, attentive, and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu. The one thing I didn't like about this place was "extras are extra." I can understand an upcharge for extra cheese or bacon, but an upcharge for LTO and mayo is a bit ridiculous. Pickup and delivery are both available. I had ordered the BBG bacon cheese burger with French fries and my husband ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with French fries and we shared an old Fashion milk shake. The sandwiches were huge and milkshake was delicious. We definitely will be back.
