Do not buy from this guy! The "dry seasoned" wood we bought was so full of moisture that not even lighter fluid would keep it lit. Hopefully we can use it next year. But for now it's completely useless. We bought wood before from Reliable Firewood in Bellevue. It was the best wood ever. The only reason we went to Ivan is because out other guy was on vacation. I would give it 0 starts if it were and option. I went to pick up a 1/4 cord my wife was quoted 110 on the phone the next day when I drove all the way down his dirt road with his poorly places signs and half assed directions; I had to then climb into the basket the wood was kept in and dig through the dirt and bark to find the wood. It was almost soaking wet. I can't burn this wood and seeing as this is my primary source of heat that is unacceptable. The site advertised DRY SEASONED wood. I've ordered from The Firewood Guy three times in the past 5 years. Pros: - Has okay prices - Delivers to Seattle proper Cons: - Wood is always very wet (much of the delivery is dirt, so this stuff is poorly stored and haphazardly scooped) which makes for messy storage. If you don't have it outside, it'll mold over in your basement (and create fungal webs up to 6 inches thick (it's happened to me all three times). read more

Spent a lot of time researching firewood to buy for my daughter and family. For whatever reason, I didn't see other review. I'm having the same problem as other reviewer. it's maple wood and too wet to burn even after bringing it inside for a couple days to dry by fireplace. Not only is the wood wet, Ivan was 4+ hours late delivering it which meant it was dark when he and his helper arrived in the rain. Don't recommend buying from The Tree Guy. read more

Ivan appears to be a good guy on the surface but his wood is very wet. Unlike others, I thought what he gave us was actually more than what we asked for. But I wouldn't buy from him unless I have a burn season or two to let it dry. We pulled out a cut in the center of the pack, sawed it open, and stuck a moisture meter in it. 54%! Well, wood needs to be below 20% moisture to be considered dry. I'll be lucky if I can burn it next year -- and I asked him 3 times if it was dry and ready to burn -- and he said yes all 3 times. In sum, he has quality wood and the quantity is honest. But his definition of 'dry', 'seasoned', and/or 'ready to burn' is a farce. Again if you've got the time to season and cure it yourself, I would recommend. But if you are looking to buy and burn immediately -- run. It seems obvious from what others are reporting, he'll tell you what you want to hear to make the sale. read more

I called The Firewood Guy (Ivan Johnson, who's operation is located at 7219 153rd SE near Snohomish, WA) and was quoted a price of $180 for a cord of Alder if I picked it up rather than having it delivered. So I hitched my trailer to my car, drove out there, and told him I wanted only half a cord, as that is exactly what my 8' x 4' x 2' trailer will hold. With my trailer about 1/3 loaded, he came back and presented me with a bill for $172.32 ($160 plus tax). I told him he had earlier quoted me $180 per full cord, which he denied and said, "If you saw that price on the web site they must have changed it." Having committed to the drive out there, and with my trailer partly loaded, I accepted the bill and finished loading the wood. As far as the quantity, it was about 90% of a half cord. I stacked the wood tight in my 8' x 4' x 2' trailer, and the load was a few inches below the top, with the last row only about half way up. As far as quality, none of the wood was over 16" long (important to me as my wood stove won't hold pieces over 17" long), and the wood was split small and straight enough to be handled and stacked easily. My advice is that you be very, very clear what price you'll be paying BEFORE you accept your load of wood, and that you be prepared to drive home empty if the price changes when you get all the way out there. Or you might do what I'm going to do next time: try someone else. read more

Ivan comes across as a nice old trusty man.This guy will LIE to you! He will tell you his wood is seasoned...It is too green to burn. Not only am I not able to use it this year, I now have no place to store some dry wood for the winter. Next time I see him, he will find out how I feel!! read more

I would love to give zero stars. I bought wood from Ivan last year and it was a little damp even though he guarenteed the dryest wood. This year I wanted to give him another chance and texted him about last years problematic wood and that we needed his word that this year's cords, three of them btw, would actually be dry. He said of course, and now we have 3 cords of green wood stacked on our porch. Which he gave to us on purpose, I'm certain. Very vindictive. Never buy from this guy!!! read more

Do not buy wood here. It says online seasoned 6 months, but it hasn't. The wood I bought, after about 5 weeks, still is too wet to burn in my fireplace, and don't know if it will be dry in time for these winter months. I had just called today to inform them of this issue, and was told that he doesn't know why it wouldn't be burning. So I told him "well it's not burning because it's too wet." His response was that nobody else has called. Basically implying that I'm the wrong party here. Poor customer service and product. Stay away. I sure wish I had purchased it somewhere else, but, ya live and learn. read more

Do not buy wood from Ivan! It is soaking wet and moldy. He said he would come pick it back up (if we load it and pay him) but we'd get less than half our money back. We are stuck with tons of moldy wood we can't even burn. read more

Horrible sopping wet wood! We were promised seasoned, dry firewood we could burn right away. This wood was soooooo wet it put the already burning fire in our wood stove out! Many attempts to make this right have failed. Got the run around........... NEVER buy wood from this guy!! read more

Ivan and Kevin (stacker) arrived on Saturday morning as he promised. He called earlier in the morning to confirm that it was still convenient for us. It was raining lightly that morning, but heavier showers were expected at mid day. My husband and I are in our mid seventies, so had requested that Ivan bring somebody along to stack the wood for us. Boy, that was the best idea we have had in a long time--well worth the extra money. We ordered a 1/2 cord of hard wood--alder, oak, and fir mixed. My husband had prepared an area for the wood under cover near our back slider so we can access it easily. After the delivery and stacking was finished, Ivan apologetically told me that he had inadvertently shorted us, and would deliver more the following day to make up the difference. Ivan and Kevin arrived with the additional wood and unloaded and stacked it in the back as we were leaving for a prior commitment. The wood looks good and we look forward to many cozy evenings in front of a nice fire. We will be ordering again from Ivan, the firewood guy. read more
