Eastside Tree Works is, by a wide margin, the best of all of them. The experience started before they even did any work. The salesman who came out for the estimate showed up with an iPad, walked the entire property with me, took photos and video of each tree, tagged the ones we discussed, and had a detailed estimate ready before he left. He clearly knew what he was talking about and took real time to talk through what would work best for the trees and the house, not just push a generic package. When he found out I was a military veteran, he knocked a nice discount off the price without me even asking. The crew that came to do the work was just as impressive. A full team showed up with a large bucket lift and worked through limbing up several big Douglas firs, doing conifer cleaning, and taking down two medium-sized trees. They moved like a team that's worked together for years, communicated constantly, and checked in with me more than once while they were up in the trees to make sure they were limbing to the height I wanted rather than just guessing. When I mentioned my chainsaw had been giving me trouble, they took the time to fix it on the spot. What really sealed it was the cleanup. After 25 years of tree work at this house, I've never had a crew leave the property looking better than when they found it, but that's exactly what happened here. We opted to split the work between two companies who replied. Eastside Tree Works is one of the two companies; they were hired to crown-reduce/windsail/shape a flowering plum and a katsura tree. I waited to write the review to see how the trees recover and regrow. The quoting and initial process was very smooth and professional. Their response is fast for both the initial meet-up and providing the quote. Everything was done on their iPad, and quotes sent soon after. The task was also completed quickly. The task isn't significant, and they readily came and finished. The clean-up details are excellent. When done, I observed the flowering plum looked shapely but the katsura looked like a bad haircut. They agreed to come out and trim a stray branch that stuck out compared to the rest of the katsura crown. The katsura never regained a normal tree crown shape. It still looks like a bad haircut will a divot, v-shape at the top. See photo. The flowering plum is growing perfectly well this new spring season. Their cost is competitive.

In addition to the branch removals, tree shaping and trimming, Matthew took the time to replace an old cable on our biggest locust that he saw was cutting into the bark with a superior cabling system. He and his crew were all so helpful, pleasant, and respectful of the yard and garden. Despite all the heavy branches that needed trimming, there was no damage to anything and cleanup was above and beyond. We live in a townhouse, and his care not to hit plants, cars, and wires was appreciated. Delivery measured just over a cord and nearly all the pieces are ready to go, so the ax will be tucked away most of winter. The wood did come with a fair amount of loose bark, but I used it for mulch around the racks. Only downside is the wood is seasoned but not bone dry (we've had a lot of rain), leaving it in the house two days before use dries it up plenty though. I will be ordering from them again.

They are something very unusual as firewood sellers - honest. If you're going to buy firewood from someone who wants cash only, doesn't provide a numbered invoice and doesn't charge sales tax, (yes, I know it's very tempting) then, at some point, they are 95% of the time, going to lie to you. Whether it's condition of the wood, usually wetter than told, type of species, or amount supplied ( being shorted is quite normal). You will also probably get wood that is of a size difficult to use. Sibi Firewood did none of this. Jacqueline and Papi, owners and wife and husband both came from near Marblemount to Edmonds, about 70 miles, to deliver 2 cords of kiln dried maple. The fee was a more than reasonable $175. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're losing money on that item. The product and service was exemplary. They offered to split down any logs I thought were too big, I'm older and handling large pieces of wood is difficult. I told them the wood was exactly as I'd ordered both in length and size. They then tidied up and made sure I could get my car out of the garage. After it was finished, they spent so much time chatting I started to feel guilty. It turned out that Jacqueline is also an end-of-life doulah which rather explained the empathetic attitude, but not entirely. Papi was also extremely pleasant and chatty. Wonderful people and I was delighted with their visit. You may think that their prices are high. If you research firewood suppliers that are legitimate and reliable, you will realize their prices are not. I consider them a bargain. I've been buying firewood for over 30 years and this is the best experience I've ever had. I can tell you some real horror stories.
