Been coming here for years. 2024, Purchased 4 sets (8 boxes) of contacts and only now discovered the Lens tech incorrectly gave me an extra pair of "rights" (I try not to wear contacts often). I have 3 "lefts" and 5 "rights". Spoke with a rep who said -Need to tell them right away if there is a problem -Must have been wearing the lefts only which is why I have disproportionate number of boxes (Not the words she used) That's weird!? The two boxes I have been using are not only marked on the box with my Left and Right prescription- So are the individual Contact capsules inside the boxes. Asked to speak to the owner about issue. She said Owner was not available to speak with me and then hung up the phone on me after attempting to explain the error in her logic. I've been going here for 40 years... ***40 YEARS*** Never once have a history of insinuating something in bad form to try and get one over with this place: This random lady refused to help me. She said it was impossible for the order to have been fulfilled incorrectly. I guess customer service and hearing out a customers doesn't matter to Sylmar Vision Center. This Office has profited thousands of dollars over the years from my return service. Since Doctor Forbes owned it in the 80's They won't anymore.

Olga took the time to explain insurance versus out-of-pocket options and made sure patients felt comfortable and cared for. The doctors have also always been kind and professional. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been disappointing. Between my annual exam, multiple return visits for contacts and glasses, and several phone calls, the level of service has noticeably declined. I understand there is a new owner, who I believe is one of the doctors that was already there and is very nice, but the overall atmosphere has changed. Olga used to be the first point of contact, and her presence seemed to set the tone for a higher level of patient care. Without her, the front desk experience feels less welcoming, and the staff's attitude has been underwhelming. Additionally, there are rotating doctors, which makes it difficult to build a relationship with someone familiar with my history and needs. Some of the fill-in doctors also appear unfamiliar with the system, making it harder to access past records or maintain continuity of care. Another challenge is the updated schedule. The office is no longer open on Saturdays, which makes even simple tasks like picking up contacts or glasses inconvenient. I've had to leave work five or six times over the past few months just to handle routine matters. While I don't have the time to detail every issue I've encountered recently, these cumulative experiences have changed my perception of the practice. Sadly, I'll likely be looking elsewhere for care moving forward and would no longer recommend this office to others. Perhaps the new owner should consider asking patients to fill out surveys after their visit so she can get a better idea of where the failures are in addition to receiving positive feedback when called for.

Just moments later, he was checked out, paid for his eye exam and retinal scan and we were back at Costco Optical, where Irving helped Hubs get 2 pair of glasses ordered with the updated prescription - YEA! I realize this is probably unusual to walk in and get an appointment right away. Also note, Dr. Shad is an independent practitioner, not affiliated with Costco, just conveniently located inside the store, adjacent to the Optical Dept. So you will pay separately for his services. Walked in and was greeted by Uri. I think he is the owner of this place. It is a family owned business since 1994. They also fill in prescriptions. The reason for me being there was that I accidentally dropped my glasses and one of the lens came out, and one side of the frame broke. Uri, took a good look at it and said no worries, I will fix this right away and within like less than 15 minutes my lens were popped back in and the side of the frame that was broken was fixed. Even straighten my nose pads and cleaned both lenses. When I was there, there were only 3 other people looking at glasses. It's a standard size shop that sells various glasses by labels, designers, and generic type. They don't do no exams at this place, but do accept most vision insurances. Also, cash and credit cards are accepted. Uri, only charged me $20 dollars for both fixings including the nose pads. I took a good look at the store, and they had vast variety of glasses. Store was clean, with few parking spaces in the back, but I parked on the street. Thank you Uri, and Eyelab. Hopefully I will not drop my glasses any more. Accidents DO happen...

Arrived today (35 minute drive), found parking on a side street in a not great neighborhood and went in. Person neglected to greet another customer and me when we walked in while she was finishing up with her Customer. Asked me to resend the prescription because she could not find it from yesterday. Showed me two crummy frames and said they don't have a large selection in that size "at this time." Why didn't they tell me that yesterday? Why didn't she offered to let me see a slightly different size? Meanwhile, probably the optometrist, possibly the owner, didn't bother to come out and see what the problem was at all. I left, intending to buy frames elsewhere and have them fill the prescription. Warby Parker was actually less expensive with excellent customer service so I do not need to return to this shop. Small businesses are hurting and should be able to compete with Customer Service. This one certainly does not.
