This place is so beautiful. Very worth the price. A peaceful and clean environment right on the beach. I go here every year with my family.

So this is a review of my experience here though we didn't stay there…read more It is a great historical example of a waterfront hotel built in the late 19th century during the building boom here when Port Townsend was competing with the whole west coast to be a terminus port for trade and economic boom. The railroad never came but the sailors did so this was the brothel, bar, and sailor trade on the waterfront where the respectable affluent families built their Victorian homes above. So glad that further economic boom didn't tear down this cool old buildings and so much of the structures of all kinds around town! We were having a local tourist day from our place across Admiralty inlet with our big dog. While walking the front street before we could notice a lovely older lady was welcoming us and our boy and very happy to see our pup. She was just so much a great ambassador of their business and very engaging that we all enjoyed the encounter. The front entrance decorated well and nice plants in boxes. She had so many dog friendly advice to give us without asking about Port Townsend in general and recommended local dining choices. Not asked for but in hindsight it reminded me of what you'd expect from your concierge at a nice hotel while on vacation. We really enjoyed chatting with her out at the entrance and makes me want to suggest that place for a fun stay. They have 7 rooms I guess that are dog friendly and If we "missed the boat back to Whidbey". Or something more planned, we would def consider staying at this former 19th century brothel turned hotel for sure! It reminds me of a smaller version of the same we stayed at once in San Francisco way up the hill that was not preserved so well. This whole town was designed and developed to compete with west coast 19th century seaports for trade and commerce and it shows. But i think that the thought that railroads would bring prosperity here has left us with survivors of this bygone era!! I'd recommend considering this a a great waterfront stay in this town as it's very convenient and worthwhile!

Loved this place!…read more I'm giving 4 stars, but in reality, it is 4.5. Location: The location is great. You're located downtown and can walk to any shop or eatery in the area. The parking location for hotel guest is odd and in reality, can only fit two cars. So, just find a spot, park it and leave it. Take advantage and walk everywhere. The Digs: There's no attendant, so you need to book in advance with the lovely manager, Marilou. She really cares about the hotels she manages and truly wants your stay to be a memorable one. Upon arrival you will get codes for both the building and your room. Speaking of the room, when you enter, you are greeted by music playing on the radio and a few lights on. A nice, simple touch, especially after a long day of traveling. The old hotel is super clean and cozy, yet modern. It almost feels like you're staying at a friends house. This is definitely a gem in Port Townsend and I would not hesitate to stay here again. The minor "constructive criticisms" that I have are to give a good corner scrubbing along the baseboards in the bathroom and to keep the soap and shampoo fairly full to give the "illusion" that your guests are the first ones to stay there.

Beautiful room - great location - relaxing stay…read more We stayed in Room #1, which has 2 beds (1 bed is in a bedroom, and since we only needed 1 we didn't use the bedroom). The room was simply but beautifully decorated, the bed very comfortable with down comforter and soft sheets. Our room had a nice little desk, where we plugged in the laptop and used the free (fast) wireless. Our room also had a mini refrigerator, tv, stereo and nice big bathroom. There is a common area in the hall which is great because it holds everything you might ever need during your stay (hair dryers, extra coffee, bottle openers, microwave, etc.). The location is quiet, a block off the main street, and there isn't a water view (which is fine, because we only slept there!). Parking was well lit and behind the building. I loved the convenience of having a door and room code, and not having to check in and check out... felt more like staying at a friend's apartment than a hotel... which is nice. The manager was very friendly and called us ahead to let us know we could check in early. We will definitely stay at the Washington again, and recommend it to our family and friends!

We did the tasting at their restaurant Passage but I will make a separate review of that. On Saturday we borrows their bikes and ride to the Bayview farmers market, walked the beach in low tide and just spend time enjoying our surroundings. Breakfast is included and is tasty but heavy on pastries and sugary items (berry compote with granola and yogurt, pancakes), over protein which is my personal preference.

I'm writing this as someone who has loved The Inn at Langley (and the town) for the last five…read moreyears, visiting multiple times each year. This summer was my first visit since the new ownership took over. If you've never stayed at the Inn before, you'll likely have a wonderful experience. But for returning guests, as other recent reviews have mentioned, there have been some noteworthy and disappointing changes. So this is mostly a heads-up to returning guests, or perhaps feedback the new owners will consider. First, the positives: the location is absolutely wonderful. The rooms and views can't be beat, and Langley will always be one of my favorite places to stay. The staff was pleasant and very responsive when we had a small issue with our cottage. They quickly made things right and went above and beyond what we expected. That said, I agree with other reviewers that the changes have taken away much of the charm, warmth, and welcoming feeling I loved about the Inn. It feels like the owners implemented "improvements" that may have worked in their other ventures and assumed they'd work here, too. I don't think the changes added value to the Inn and, in some instances, did the opposite. * We were sad to see the Inn no longer uses Sweet Sisters for its toiletries. Sweet Sisters is a local shop that created the Inn's signature scent years ago (forest + sea ... the BEST scent). I loved that the previous owners supported a small local business. The new products aren't bad; they're just standard boutique-hotel products. I'm curious why the new owners chose not to continue that relationship. * While every staff member I interacted with was nice, I didn't see a single familiar face. I don't know whether previous employees chose not to return or weren't given the opportunity, but it felt odd and sad not to see anyone from before. * The lobby layout has changed. It used to feel more welcoming, with complimentary snacks and items to purchase. Now the check-in desk is immediately inside, and those things are gone (snacks are now in the rooms). It's not a major issue, but it doesn't feel like "value added." We used to enjoy stopping in for a snack and chatting with whoever was working. Now there's little reason to go in after check-in. * Our biggest disappointment was breakfast. The complimentary breakfast under the previous ownership felt special and was something we looked forward to every morning. Now it feels like an afterthought. We skipped it our second day because the first was so lackluster. * The new breakfast system requires filling out a card the day before, choosing whether you'll dine in or have breakfast delivered, and selecting a time. I understand advance notice for room service, but I didn't enjoy committing to a restaurant time the night before. I go to the Inn to relax, not to worry about dropping off a card before the lobby closes and making it to breakfast at a specific time. * The breakfast itself left much to be desired. The egg dish looked cool and tasted fine, but the pastry was somewhat dry and not particularly enjoyable. We were also given a whole plain piece of fruit and half an avocado, with oil drizzled on it. I think they could have done something more special with those items, especially when much of the Inn's current advertising is about their new Michelin star chef. Compared with the previous stellar breakfast, I expected more effort. The food was fresh and nothing was bad; it just did not come close to what the previous owners provided. Again, the change decreased the value for me. * Lastly, we were disappointed by the changes to the restaurant for dinner. My mom is vegetarian and I'm pescatarian. The previous owners made sure vegetarians had their own version of every course (when asked ahead of time), and primarily served seafood, which worked well for me. The new chef, at least as stated on the website, does not accommodate dietary restrictions, and the menu is very meat-heavy. Because of that, we didn't dine there, so I can't speak to the food itself. We were disappointed that the restaurant is no longer an option for us, and we certainly don't feel we'd be welcomed there based on how it's advertised. These changes left us feeling less welcomed and made us wonder about the kind of business we were supporting. Between seeing no familiar employees, moving away from a small local business, and a dining experience that now feels less thoughtful and inclusive, the Inn has lost some of the warmth and sense of community that feels so characteristic of Langley itself. We still had a lovely stay, and I'm sure I'll return because I adore Langley and the Inn's location is hard to beat. But my expectations will be lower. I'll know I'm primarily going for the location and town, rather than the Inn itself. If prices increase, however, I likely wouldn't return because, in my opinion, these changes have decreased the value rather than added to it.
