I will leave a detailed review later, but to just get this out there to anyone considering this place soon, DO NOT. I need a proper keyboard to give all the deets as to why this place was The Worst! We get in and the very surly dude checked us in. No welcoming smile, unlocked the door and didn't even hold it open for us. Not sure if he even knew much English... "sign". We go out to find the room, looking around the lot, he just pointed up; our rooms were above the office. Helpful info he could have imparted on check in. Very scraggly slippery stairs up. Someone could prolly get a big payoff tumbling down. Room was freezing; no problem. Turn on heat at "Heater". Nothing. The other white unit not labeled heater actually got it going. The pics speak for the condition of the place. I will say the bathroom was decent seemed freshly painted. In the pics you see that tv setup. It speaks for itself. Worst part is it didn't work! Neither did my sons next door. Likes: nice big fridge and micro! 2 Cafs and real cream at the coffee maker. Wood floors. Don't get me wrong I'm not some kind of snob. This place was really cheap. But we had stayed the night before at an Econolodge in Jackpot Nevada that was perfect for that same price. The rude clerk started the whole thing off, and the condition of this place reflected the attitude. Some ppl should not be in hospitality! Oh one last thing-a real key. Hadn't seen one in 20 years. This is a really affordable place! I have to be honest, I was a bit worried at first when I arrived. My sister booked the motel and I did not have a great first impression. But I was pleased with our stay, no complaints AND the rooms were priced well. We were supposed to stay in a room with two king size beds, but the room got flooded. So they book us with two rooms with a king bed inside each room at the same price. They are very professional with great customer service, and they are family operated. We waited in the lobby for a few minutes until the owner came, and the elderly couple was kind and offered us water. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I loved how homey it felt, especially downstairs with their vegetable garden near the main office. The room had all the basic amenities needed, such as TV, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave... and EVEN a blow dryer! It's a great place to stay if you need something simple with affordability. read more

This place honestly blew me away given its affordability. I always go in with a fingers-crossed attitude when I stay at cheap motels. The nicest Asian man greeted me at the front :) The room is extremely clean and the nice touches (fireplace looking heater, LED sink faucet, coffee and snacks set out nicely, wall mounted TV, FAST wifi, nicely folded towels and decor, super plushy and soft blankets) made it feel like I was a guest in someone's home. I'm reading the reviews and thinking that people stayed elsewhere because I certainly didn't have the same experience. Either that or friends wrote reviews or it's under new management. The desk clerk (manager?) seemed flustered when I arrived and had a hard time finding my reservation and needed my ID a few times for verification. When we finally entered the room 20 minutes later, we were sad to see how dirty everything was. Good thing we bring wipes for places like this. We spent some time wiping everything down and when it came to looking in the shower, we both said "Nope" as the caulking was heavily decayed and there was mold growth. So be sure to shower at home before coming here. The only thing "clean" in the room was the fridge. Also, the lights didn't work above the sink. What up with that?! The beds were hard and we didn't get proper sleep. Noise factor from 101 and nearby roads didn't help either. The "breakfast" items on the table consisted of nasty coffee and sugar so you will need to go out and get coffee elsewhere. I didn't take as many pics as I should have but only because I was just too busy shaking my head that we had to stay here. This was a pretty bad place to stay. But to be honest, driving around Sequim and seeing the more expensive hotels were just as horrifying. The town looks like it was hit by the recession in 2008 and never recovered. You would think with all of the tourism, the town would be bustling and look beautiful. My guess is all of the money is going to local government official's pockets instead of the community. the hotel is very old and showing every year of it's age. Our king room was up an outside staircase that would have been very difficult to navigate in inclement weather. Our room was adequate with minimal amenities. There was a small, well used coffee maker with some instant coffee packets but the water tasted rusty so we did not use. The shower had very small combo shampoo/conditioner packets with a sliver of soap. There is no food offered on premises at all. We saw our host at check in and that was it. Our key was to be placed in a drop box by the office door. At check in we had to sign disclaimers for loss, theft, or injury and agree to pay a $10 fee if we lost our room key. The hotel is on the corner of two busy streets. With very little sound proofing, we were thankful for the noisy air conditioner to drowned out the traffic noise. Clean enough but not a pleasant experience. read more

This place is so cute!! Love the Asian decor throughout! The best is having Korean coffee in the morning. They have a little snacks kiosk full of food and drinks on the house . All they are missing is boba tea and 85 Degrees bakery and its set lol. Everything is clean and organized. Rustic and practical. Warm and inviting. It was a last minute trip and lodging was scarce except for this dump. We arrived in the parking lot and turned around and left. The place looks a bit like a homeless encampment. I did not get a feeling of safety nor cleanliness. As we left, we called the property manager to cancel, but he said we'd still need to pay for the night. He billed the credit card immediately. Deciding to stay at a locally owned motel instead of a chain, my husband and I chose Great House Motel. I am glad we did. We have now stayed there twice while house hunting in Sequim and Port Angeles. This is a small business run by a family so you get taken care of rather well. In each room are bottles of water, bananas, trail mix and instant coffee (VIA from Starbucks). The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable with plenty of pillows and extra blankets in case you like to keep your room cold (like I do). This is the type of small business that I would definitely visit with again and would recommend. The rooms are comfortable and the people are great. If you are looking for a comfy bed to crash on after a long day in the beauty of the Olympic region, Great House Motel is the way to go. read more

Stayed couple of different days last week in the course of passing through Sequim. This place is great based on these factors: 1. Price, 2. Charm, character, and warmth, and 3. Cleanliness If you don't mind small and simple, this place is great. You need to understand the niche the owners cater to - this place is inexpensive.. wife and I only wanted a clean place to stay and weren't looking for a resort atmosphere. While you don't get a free breakfast, they provide instant coffee, banana, and trail mix to get you going in the am, clean rooms/linen with small frig and microwave, peaceful, quiet atmosphere through friendly owners and detail touches in the rooms. There is WiFi, cable TV but our units did not have HD. Only complaint, one night of our stay was in a room a bit small for 2 people while moving about in the room. It would be fine for 1 person. 5 Stars for the "regular" sized room, 3 1/2 stars for the smaller room. read more

I stayed here for an extended stay or a few weeks. It started out good for the most part. But half way through that switched our room to a different one, which I was opposed to, but I has no choice and was rushed to do do in less than 2 hours (timeframe given to me by the owner). The next room was a bit less cramped, which is whatever, since I had just had major surgery the size of the room was not something I cared about. Major inconvenience. Later on I found out that the new room cost $50 more per week, making the place ultimately out of my budget. The owners seemed to think I was bad at accounting, they kept saying I would get a free week....but always found a reason why it was next week, next week, and I kept believing I was paid off, I never seemed to actually have my bill paid no matter how much money I spent. To top this off, the owners were quite in everyone else's business non stop. The even go through the trash to find something incriminating on the daily, so be careful, while digging through the trash some negative conclusions can definitely be assumed. I also found a random smartphone in my couch cushion (it was wedged between the cushion and side arm as if it fell out of a pocket). It has not been their earlier in the day either. It just appeared after I left and returned a couple hours later. All in all they type cast me, tried to jerk the price around then make me feel as if I was bad at math, and someone else had come into the room with out my permission, and our trash was continually sifted through and held as "evidence " of nothing besides the owners own prejudice. I've never stayed at a motel, so this being my first time I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the accomodations and friendliness of the couple who run it. They ARE hospitality! We enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep with good bedding and pillows. There were extra creature comforts like Starbucks bottle coffee, in-room coffee with electric tea kettle and bottled water. Most hotel rooms now don't have a mini fridge and microwave---all PLUSES at Great House Motel. The bathroom was spic and span and a cool feature---a light-up disco faucet. How cute is that? My husband, our daughter and I came to Sequim to determine if we want to move here. Like reviewer Sharon, we were unimpressed with the outside of the motel. The owners were very welcoming, and walked with us to our room to make sure everything was satisfactory. We booked the Great House Motel through Southwest Airlines. What a pleasant surprise! The motel room was like staying at the house of a favorite relative. It was decorated tastefully with non-motel type of decor. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The linens and towels were of very good quality equal to what one would find in a more expensive hotel. The owners provided water, fresh fruit and snack bars every morning. The microwave and refrigerator allowed us to have delicious meals during the day, and then dine in comfort with food that we brought to the room. The owners' treated us with respect, and in return, we made sure that we kept everything tidy after we ate our dinner. We highly recommend the Great House Motel for your stay in Sequim. read more

Booked a room for one night this weekend through Booking.com, and had a last minute change in our plans. Unable to change reservation dates, I had to cancel reservations and eat the cost. Which is understandable, I knew this while booking the reservation. I tried calling the motel itself to see if they're able to accommodate, but I was told they can't cuz it was through Booking.com. Again, it's understandable that they weren't able to do anything, so I was ready to just move on. I get a call back from the motel, and the lady (Auggie? I think is her name) tells me that she saw the reservation was cancelled and actually offered to give me credit for one night if I chose to change it. So of course, I took her up on her offer and chose the following night like I had hoped for. She even checked with her manager and said that it is good to go for this coming Sunday night. I get a call back again, and they confirmed my payment information. I even gave them credit card info (I had figured it would be for extra charges just in case, since she gave me credit for one night already). So I notice a pending charge for $102, for what? I'm not sure, but it's from the Great House Motel, so I call them back and Auggie tells me, I can not stay Sunday and I have to find somewhere else to say. She says "find somewhere else". I'm like okay. So I have no reservations, with a pending charge on my account and now I'm writing this review. What. The. Hell. read more

This was by far the BEST motel experience for our family of 4! More than a motel, it feels like sleeping over at your friendly aunt's place..? At first, I didn't want to stay at this motel because I didn't like the way it looked on the outside, but when we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by how clean and BIG the room was! The place is equipped with a futon, refrigerator, microwave, TV, hair dryer, water boiler, good WiFi, AC, and a small table for eating. And the service and the hospitality of the owners is AMAZING!! On top of the small dining table, they left free water bottles, trail mixes, 4 cup noodles, 4 bananas, and coffee mixes! We went out for a day hike and ate all the bananas, but when we came back, they left us with 4 more bananas and 2 Starbucks coffees and the owner also came by our place with freshly picked cherries during dinner time! The beds are comfy with clean beddings and our whole family slept so well! We couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the service was at this place and left the owners a good tip on our way out and she gave us all a huge hug when we were leaving. This place had good promise, the owners were nice and they had snacks and waters in room. The room it self was good size and the bathroom was pretty good. We had 2 beds, my son took the comforter down on his and there was Dirt under the sheets! We had to sleep in same bed. The neighbors were very loud and you could here them through the walls, also there was some place behind the hotel that was also very loud. This motel is something you might see in a movie from the 1950s. The rooms are small and each one is differently configured. There are some minor issues with the plumbing and not everything is in perfect condition, but the management is constantly at work improving the place, so much so that it is almost unrecognizable today compared to just a year ago. What this place lacks in polish and perfection, is more than compensated by the friendliness and hospitality shown by its managers, a lovely couple from Korea, who take obvious pride in the establishment. They work long hours to make sure rooms are spotlessly clean and towels are fluffy and fresh. I live in Sequim, and have put guests up at this hotel and others, and I can promise this one is the best in the price range, and better than most that are twice as expensive. The price has been the lowest in town, so rooms go fast. Some guests find it so affordable and love it so much they stay on for weeks or months. The location is convenient, just a half block from a major grocery market and not far from the major attractions in the area. The parking lot is small, but parking is available next door or across he street. Some rooms are quieter than others, but Sequim rolls up by 8pm so this is a minor issue. I can't recommend this establishment highly enough. If the owner is smart, he will do whatever is necessary to retain the current managers. They have made an otherwise ordinary little motel into an unexpected find!. read more

Stayed here Sunday/Monday with my niece. We LOVED this place and the owner is super nice. It reminded me of the motels of the 50's when I traveled with my parents. The room was extremely clean, and the beds were so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the morning. Besides the usual coffee, there were free snacks like trail mix and bananas and 4 bottles of water! All of this free. No off brands, and the coffee was Starbucks (my favorite). The outside looks like it has never been updated, but the inside, while small, is very comfortable. We're going to stay there again! read more

She was totally disrespectful to my husband and our friend..when my husband said wait a minute Im here to check in she replied no you can not stay here. Didn't stay here. I'm reviewing this to warn others. I made a reservation on booking.com. it said free cancellation. Plans change so I had to cancel. Booking.com tells me that I can't cancel but I can submit a request to the motel to cancel. They have a policy of 3 days in advance. I was within the time frame. I then called the motel to confirm they got the cancellation from booking.com and the guy could barely speak English. After 20 minutes, I got the idea that he was waiting for the cancellation from booking.com. I asked him to please just cancel and he wouldn't. Do I waited. 2 days later, I get an email saying they are going to charge me 100%. So, it took them 2 days to respond, which put me outside of their 3 day policy. They didn't even bother to help me even though I spoke to someone 3 days before my reservation. Don't use booking.com for reserving and don't think this motel will help you either. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this motel. I had never stayed in a motel before so I didn't know what to expect. When we drove into the property we were a little scared of what to expect, but the price we paid for it quickly reminded us not tone picky. For a last minute booking at that price we really didn't have an excuse to complain. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by one of the owners ( both of them are asian and barely speak english) and the wife quickly walked in. They were the nicest attendants I have yet to meet. Granted this is no 5 star lodging, but for tired travelers and hikers this is just a cheap paradise. What the facility lacks in glitz and glamour it has in friendliness, cleanliness, comfort and convenience. I was surprised that the beds were so confortable! The rooms have cable, free wifi, and complimentary trail mixes and bananas. They come packed with a fridge and microwave, a rare commodity in hotels/motels throughout Washington. It is very close to downtown Sequim and I walked (very safe .3 walk) to get coffee and breakfast both days. If you want to experience the beauty of the Olympic peninsula and the sound at a budget price, this is the place to stay. I will be visiting again. read more
