The hotel has a beautiful view, and the gentleman at check-in was very friendly. However, this is where I get very confused reading prior reviews. The hotel is very, very dated. Please note that the rooms open up right to the outside, and in my case, to an alley, which tbh, seemed a little sketchy, especially without a deadbolt. Also, the room had a horrible stale smell, like a combination of thrift store and grandma's attic. Despite what is written in their listing on booking websites, (free continental breakfast), there isn't one. I was not told that they stopped serving breakfast at the end of October upon check in. My bad, I guess I should have either asked or consulted the hotel website. In the morning, I was just told, "there's no breakfast." I was only offered a yogurt, but with words to the effect that it should still be good. Umm, no thanks. Airing out the rooms and updating the listing on booking sites should be some easy fixes.

Very flimsy and unsupportive. They seem to know this because they put 6 of them on each bed. But I'm a side sleeper and 2 of them weren't enough, but 3 was too many. In the middle of the night I woke up with horribly knotted up neck and shoulders and had to tuck a couple of folded towels under my pillows just to get comfortable . If I had stayed there longer than just one night, I would've gone to Walmart and bought my own pillow. The second reason was that the remote control was not compatible with the television. The buttons on the cable box had to be pressed manually to get the TV to work. Not really a big deal, but the tv keeps the kiddos entertained so they aren't bouncing off the walls and disturbing other guests, so a minor inconvenience. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. I'll just remember to bring pillows from home.

We were headed to Sooke Harbor, BC for a much-needed, long weekend. Imagine our disappointment after driving 2+ hours from our home in Kirkland to the Black Ball Ferry in Port Angeles, only to find there was no room for us on the only afternoon ferry to Victoria!! Note: we learned a valuable lesson - make reservations if you want onboard!! Our spirits dashed, we began to formulate Plan B after canceling our reservation at Sooke Harbor. We searched the interweb for hotels or lodges in the vicinity and came across the Bond Retreat Ranch. After finding other places booked solid or not yet open for the season, we were very relieved when Tess said we could have the Cottage for the weekend! We headed straight to the Ranch where we were greeted by the congenial Tess and her sidekick, Goofy the hound dog. She took us on a quick tour of the Ranch - a lovely, well-maintained spread, which includes 5 guest rooms with the B&B, a large pasture for the two resident horses, a cute wedding chapel, covered patio for gathering, breakfast room made from a converted barn, pavilion for dancing, and several other outbuildings. Then we were escorted to our private little cottage with a cozy living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a private yard with chairs, porch, picnic table, lots of trees and a nice view of the ranch. The B&B wasn't open for the season, but Tess was happy to put us up. All the buildings on the ranch were built by Morris, the 70 year-old owner and Tess' longtime partner. Morris bought the land when he was 18, logged the trees, milled the lumber and built it all himself, including their home on the premises. The workmanship is impressive and the entire place is clean, inviting, rustic and charming. The ranch is a lovely venue for a wedding, family reunion or group getaway. In season they have a nightly campfire and serve breakfast in the barn and patio. The Cottage was spotless - not a speck of dust or cobweb in sight! I found this very impressive considering we arrived off-season. The bed was so cozy - we slept like babies! There were lots of warm quilts and fluffy pillows to snuggle into. The kitchen has a fridge, sink, small range and is stocked with enough dishes, pans & utensils to prepare light meals. If you want to grill, there is one at the pavilion or they will bring one down to the Cottage. There is a book of local restaurant recommendations, some magazines about the area and an electric fireplace in the living room. What they don't have is a TV or wifi - so you are delightfully unplugged! The pavilion does have wireless if really needed (cell service on Verizon was sketchy at best). We spent two full days exploring the surroundings and east side of the Olympic National Park - Salt Creek State Park, Crescent Bay, Madison Falls, Hurricane Ridge, the Elwha Valley, Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls, the Lake Crescent Lodge, etc. We hiked a LOT! The weather was nice - our last day it was fantastic! We had a delicious dinner at the Alder Wood Bistro (highly recommended) and a crazy-good breakfast at the Oak Table Cafe, both in Sequim. We picked up some groceries at the Sunny Farms Country Store with its great selection of organic and local produce & meats, raw honey, etc. All of these are within 10 min of the Ranch. For our 2nd night we picnicked in the front yard, enjoying the vibrant, northwest skies for sunset. This was the best Plan B ever! We can't wait to come back and explore more of the area and hopefully spend another stay at the Ranch. Sadly, Morris & Tess are Looking to retire, so the Ranch is on the market. How I wish I had the youth and money to buy it! What a lovely piece of paradise. Fortunately, the Ranch will be open in the meantime and we highly recommend you check it out!

It's an old Victorian house with a number of antique artifacts including instruments, guns, books, etc. There is no elevator - you have to climb the stairs to get to your room or downstairs to the billiards table & guest fridge. The innkeeper is extremely sweet. She welcomed us in and explained about the house. At 9am (prompt), she serves breakfast, which was a delight! It was a full 3 course meal - everything home-made (or from a local bakery). Honestly, the breakfast here was better than our dinner at a restaurant the night before! Our room was very cute - it looked like the inside of a doll house. For my husband, who is a tall man (6'2), he felt a bit claustrophobic because the ceiling comes inwards. But for my 5' self, I didn't mind. Everything was clean and had a nice presentation. They even had home-made cookies waiting! We really enjoyed our stay, and it was nice to have a sit down breakfast with the other guests and chat together. There's also a sweet doggo named Ursa who you may see putter around. For a nice weekend away from the city, this is a very cozy quaint place to stay.

After i checked in, I received a room that was right above the office. Little did I know that it was under construction. I didn't think too much of it since there were other things on my mind like a broken toilet seat or the dirty shower. I looked passed those things and went to sleep. At 7 am, I was rudely awaken by LOUD banging and sawing. I attached a video to show how loud it was. That noise went on for the next 3 hours. I tried calling downstairs but no answer. Since we couldnt sleep, we got up and started packing to get out of there as soon as possible. I went to the front desk to complain and the front desk person said they didnt have the power to give a refund (???). He said I had to contact Chase and they would approve it. I went to the parking lot and called Chase who told me that the motel did not approve a refund even though I had literally just talked to them. I went back to the front desk and said that he lied to me and he kept on making an excuse about needing to email someone else. I unfortunately was not able to get anything out of this situation, but please if you're considering this place. STAY AWAY.

It was a delicious meal prepared with seasonal and organic ingredients, much of which Mark actually grew himself! Stuffed tomatoes, shrimp with herbed cream cheese on baguettes, blue cheese dip with crackers - everything was scrumptious and beautifully presented. And the pickled garlic scapes were so incredible, I believe I embarrassed myself. Mark's task was complicated by serving outdoors, in a garden and a somewhat limited budget.
