After reading some of the negative comments visitors to Port Townsend should keep in mind some things about the town, people and community: - Port Townsend is an eccentric and eclectic hippie community that moves at its own pace; timelines are not linear around this part of WA - The walk from Morgan Hill to downtown goes relatively quick and is quite nice if you are not on "city time". Take in the charm of a small community, the beautiful Victorian homes and wild deer that surround you. Opt instead to take the staircase that connects Uptown and Downtown vs. the Monroe St. hill that runs directly into downtown. While on your way to the stairs swing by Aldrich's for a cup of coffee. I would encourage anyone that has had a negative experience to reach directly out to Ann with your concerns. Port Townsend's main economic driver is tourism. All B&B owners in town are sensitive to visitor experiences in the area and want to make sure all of them are positive. read more

We came to Port Townsend (FAVORITE) town for a 4 night getaway and found Morgan Hill Cottage. Which is LOVELY (earlier negative reviews were left by naturally always cranky people IMHO). It is a jewel of a cottage - warm, cozy, comfortably appointed. Feels like home - not impersonal as a motel or hotel. Easy access to everything, Ann is gracious and welcoming and we were most reluctant to leave. read more

0 stars... Called today and asked if they allow dogs at their cottage, and they said no. The funny thing is they have a picture of the cottage with puppies with a caption "Bring the Fam" on their website. WHY would you put picture with dogs on your site if you don't allow dogs? Not to mention the design of the site is horrible. They lady then told me that they allow dogs at the north beach location, but they don't have any availability. Wait... We stayed in the retreat cottage on the Morgan hill property this week. It's a really nice little cottage (it's a restored/greatly upgraded shed that was on the original property). You can fit a family of 4-5 easily in the cottage, but it's also great for just a romantic retreat. It's within walking distance to downtown PT, and the cottage is private even though it's on the main house property. The proprietor sets up the cottage for you (and re-stocks if you stay a few days) with breakfast foods and bevvies, then leaves you alone. (but is just next door or a phone call away if needed). I don't know about you, but I don't stay at b&bs any more because after a hectic week at home, I don't feel like talking to a bunch of strangers in the early morning on vacation. My husband found the Morgan Hill View Loft after sorting through a lot of Victorian-style bed and breakfasts in Port Townsend. We wanted to stay somewhere modern and without the pinks and floral prints of the other places. We stayed two nights at the View Loft and had an awesome time. We only saw Ann once but that was fine as it really felt like we had the place to ourselves and weren't a guest. She was friendly and the loft was in near perfect condition when we arrived. Aside from wind, bells in the distance and the occasional dog bark the loft was quiet and the view unbeatable. It's location is near enough to downtown to walk but tucked far enough into the neighborhood to feel like you are relaxing at home. The stocked breakfast was tasty and nice to have as an option instead of leaving for a bite to eat. After our time I found myself wanting to stay just a little longer, maybe another night or two. Review is for Morgan Hill View Loft at this address. My wife and I stayed two nights, 10-19-18 and 10-20-18. We found the property in need of cleaning with cobwebs in multiple places, black mold on shower curtain, food on dishes, globs of hair on bedding and in several other places, and stains on bedding and on bath wash cloth. We also found poor bath lighting, microwave display not functional, several light bulbs burned out or not working, and poor to no lighting on path and stairs leading up to the entry door. This is not a property we would stay at again. Wished we had read the reviews from Yep beforehand. I agree with the reviewer from Jan 2014. A DUMP!!! We would not recommend this property to anyone. On a side note we never met the owner or had any response from them about our experience. read more

Overall, our stay was nice. The place was comfortable and the food provided for breakfast was basic but good. The space was a bit different than pictured, it seemed a bit dated and didn't have the basic features other bed and breakfasts do. The three star rating is mostly based on the price we paid. During our trip we stayed at two other bed and breakfasts, paid less, and received a lot more space & amenities. read more

My boyfriend and I planned a quick one-night getaway from Seattle to Port Townsend. After reading some reviews online and checking out Morgan Hill Getaways online, I booked. One night bookings are never easy on a renter, especially one like Morgan Hill Getaways with gorgeous properties. Ann and Lyza could not have been more helpful while planning - Morgan Hill Getaways embodies the small town hospitality and bend-over-backwards-for-you customer service that is hard to come by. When a last minute snafu in the trip changed our plans a bit, Ann and Steve were so hospitable and accommodating. We slept like angels in the stunning Morgan Hill House and are eternally grateful that they helped turn our night around. Their generosity speaks volumes about the high standards of customer service you can expect from booking at Morgan Hill Getaways. My husband and I stayed at the Morgan Hill Guest Cottage in July and it was just what we wanted. It is a small cottage, but the space is well designed so it didn't feel cramped. There is a refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave in the room. The soaps, shampoo, etc., are all in reusable bottles so it is not as wasteful as a hotel room. The no-shoes policy made me uncomfortable at first, but the floors were so clean I could walk around in my white socks without picking up dirt. We walked to restaurants (about a mile round trip) and to Fort Worden State Park (3 miles round trip to the lighthouse), which is a big plus for me. It is up a hill, but that makes for good views of the Sound and keeps you far enough away from the main streets to enjoy some peace and quiet at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and strongly recommend it to anyone staying in Port Townsend. read more

0 stars--We stayed in the Morgan Hill cottage: upon arrival there was no one to greet us or any information telling us where the cottage is, etc. We wandered behind the main house and then another guest returned and led us to the cottage. No welcome note or instructions where to find the key. The outside table/chairs were dirty and the flower box contained dead flowers; no incentive to enjoy coffee in the morning outside! Inside, lots of deferred maintenance--old, worn bath towels, rundown bathroom lacking enough hooks to hang towels, stains on the carpet, dirty throw rug in efficency kitchen...the list goes on. There is a steep ladder up to the loft (can't imagine this is up to code!). This is not a friendly upbeat owner, rather a woman who just wants the income with little to no contact with guests. read more

The "stocked fridge" was disappointing with a couple yogurts, small plate of not-very-fresh fruit, some orange juice and milk. There was also some cereal, a bran muffin and a dry bagel, none of which were appealing. Besides the disappointing food options (which isn't too big of a deal), the place was in need of a deep clean, even the silverware was dirty. The "two-sided tub" was a bit of a stretch for the online description. Although voted one of the best places to kiss by evening magazine, that was in 2009. I think the owners have let the place go. We stayed in late Spring and the loft was pretty warm. I wouldn't recommend staying in the heat of the summer unless you plan on keeping the windows wide open (fyi there are no screens to protect from bugs). I guess if you're trying to save money, you might end up staying here. It wasn't THAT bad, but lower your expectations for sure. read more
