Absolute gem! I stumbled across this place while planning my 40th birthday trip and I'm so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, I didn't want to leave. It's stunning yet cozy with the most inviting, homey feel. The bed was out of this world comfortable and I had the best sleep of my life here. The hostess is an absolute sweetheart, kind, helpful, and thoughtful in every detail. The grounds are gorgeous and her little homemade treats are delicious. We skipped breakfast simply because we're not big morning eaters, but the spread looked wonderful. My only tiny suggestion, and it's not even worth docking a star, would be to add a lock to the guest room doors when you leave. The main building is locked and it felt completely safe, but a personal lock would give that extra layer of peace of mind. I let my guard down and felt perfectly at ease. This isn't just a stay. Thank you for the response, though a bit late to our review. Regarding noise, we rented the entire house, there was no family with children upstairs. The noise heard was from the kitchen where the owner's friends were talking late in the night. The owner was not in site, which might explain the lack of response when decaf coffee was requested and the pastries being multiple days old. We had a lovely stay at this delightful spot in Sequim. It is a beautifully maintained and obviously much loved property. Clare was very accommodating in reserving our room. We were greeted with fresh baked goods. The fridge was stocked with everything you would need to make a wonderful breakfast. The studio had a fantastic view of the Dungeness Spit. It was clean, the bed comfortable and a cozy retreat. A very well priced stay considering the prices at local motels. we have stayed in the area many times to take advantage of the Olympic Park and beaches. We will stay here from now on. read more

Clare's property is a respite, a zen space and a little slice of heaven there on the corner of Marine Drive and whatever that other road is there in Sequim. My wife booked this for our 5th anniversary as a little get away and a chance to experience 'life in Sequim'. We are considering this area as it fits our 'rain shadow' requirements for living in this beautiful state. This property is warm, welcoming and laid out in a way where you can really feel comfortable and invited to enjoy. Clare's impeccable taste in the finishings and décor really add to the appeal of this property. We didn't find anything about it to be overdone. It was all just right. We didn't get to enjoy her cooking since she was having renovations done and her kitchen was unavailable. She left us with home made granola, farm fresh eggs from the beautiful hens out back, coffee, home made muffins from a local bakery and a variety of items stocked in the fridge and kitchen. We stayed in the loft room, I can't remember the name of it but it was over the office next to the big garage. We didn't anticipate the stairs. The whole trip was a surprise for me and my wife must have missed this in the description of the room. We managed ok, but they were steep for sure. The room was beautifully appointed with a full kitchen, seasonings, extra food supplies, etc... The bathroom had a deep soaker tub and lovely body wash and lotions. The final touch was the deck that overlooked the Juan De Fuca waterway. We had a chance to go down to this area, sit a spell and renew our vows. Its a lovely and peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the view, listen to the ocean waves and just relax! There is beach access from that point as well but its all private to Clare's property from that access point. Wow, what a great property! We got a chance to meet Clare and spend some time chatting with her, her grand daughter and we got to meet he precious little dog Archie. We look forward to spending some more time out this way and at this property. We'd highly recommend this location for a beautiful weekend get away of peace, tranquility and renewal. For $295/night you can be on proprietor Clare Monnin's construction site. But we did not make a reservation for a vacation to move around and to someplace that we had no idea about. This offer amounted to "it's my way or the highway." More basic is the lack of honesty in representing this place to us, evident in Ms. Monin's not disclosing this ongoing construction. When we expressed our discomfort upon finding workmen on our arrival, she demurred, "but they'll only be painting." This was another misrepresentation: She neglected to mention the deafening noise from the power machinery that started at 9 am the following morning. Our stay here was the first vacation in three years. We booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Clare Monnin's various deceptions turned what should have been a joyous occasion into a nightmare. Don't let the same thing happen to you. P.S. The website promotes yet another deception: It gives the impression that one can walk across the property directly down to the deck and beach. But you can't. The photographs are carefully framed so that you cannot see that there is a two-line, paved road, which you must cross. And of course, no verbiage on the website alerts you to this fact. read more

This couldn't have been a more perfect place for us to relax in. Our room was beautifully appointed and everything was placed where you would expect it to be. My husband and I were not looking for a lot of interaction with staff or other visitors. We merely wanted to enjoy the activities and scenery of Sequim. Which we did! Everyone we met in Sequim was friendly and helpful. The proprietress and staff, when they did unobtrusively appear, were kind enough to take the time to tell us about the transformation of the barn to a B & B. And the granola they offer there is delicious. read more

Sue and Clare's place is gorgeous. Situated right on a small bluff overlooking the dungeness spit and the strait beyond that, sunset views are stunning. We stayed in the Dungeness View suite and the high king bed was so comfortable. The jetted tub and complimentary bath salts are a huge bonus, and we loved how the windows open right onto the front lawn and beautiful views of the water beyond. The common areas upstairs are also lovely - we played cards there and got to know some of our fellow guests. Breakfast was delicious and we got to have great conversation with other guests and our hosts each morning. This is a very peaceful retreat with beautiful back gardens as well. As to the area, Clare recommended we do the walk to and along the Dungeness Spit and it really was beautiful and easy enough for almost any skill/ability level to enjoy. We drove about 40 minutes over to Port Townshend one afternoon as well and I highly recommend that - cute, victorian town with lots of cute shops. I especially enjoyed visiting Propolis brewing. Sequim itself doesn't have a ton to do (the lavender farms are worth a visit though), but there is a lot to see within a short drive, and if you're looking for a calm space in a beautiful setting, I highly recommend the Dungeness Barn House B&B. read more

My bf, our little dog and I stayed in this lovely B and B during our vacation. We absolutely loved it. The location is perfect : right next to the wonderful beach (there is a short walkway leading to the B and B private beach). B and B is right on charming Marine Dr and it's really amazing to go for sunset or morning walks - the view is incredible over the Straits. B and B is an art itself. It's beautifully designed with great taste. There are beautiful old and new furniture pieces; various decoration items; bed was so comfy !(we stayed at the Suite). I picked some design ideas. :-) bath and shower creams and soaps are great and all towels colors are very pretty. I write a lot about it because I notice these things and the owners did a terrific decoration job. Breakfasts were state of the art. We travelled to Italy and other countries and stayed in some great b and bs and little hotels in Positano and Capri and had a lot of incredible breakfasts not to mention my business trips all over Asia for work. But those breakfasts in Dungeness Barn were the best in my opinion - beautifully made and accompanied with few delicious beverages and in beautiful china. Wow ! We loved breakfasts ! We were even offered delicious snacks in the afternoon ! They also have beautiful garden with comfy outdoor furniture and it is fully fenced in the back so our little dog loved to run around. My husband and I carefully researched quiet and romantic inns where we could celebrate our anniversary and were impressed by the positive reviews that Dungeness Barn House had received. Imagine our shock when we arrived and found it to be an active construction zone- something that Clare did not bother to warn us about until the moment we actually arrived. She assured us that it was "just painting" and would not be a bother (as if replacing the smell of sea air with drying paint was in any way acceptable). However, the next morning we awoke to the sound of power saws and other power equipment and the workers' shouts and the loud country music playing on their radio. NOT the romantic scene we had envisioned. It is unconscionable of a proprietor to accept bookings for a very expensive room knowing and failing to disclose that it was an active construction zone. Thankfully, we were able to book elsewhere and she eventually agreed not to charge us for the time we spent there. Still, the first two days of our planned romantic getaway were utterly ruined by the stressful situation Clare put us in. On a less important note, the bed was comfortable but so high that it was hard for me, a woman of average height, to get into it. Ditto the tub. read more

We had such an amazing stay at the Barn House B&B, as soon as you step inside you fall in love with it. It's beautifully decorated and filled with charming views of the Dungeness bay on one side and their garden on the other. Everything is so clean, and the soaps and lotions in the rooms smell so good. Our room was so cozy, and the windows allow for a perfect view to wake up to. Breakfast both mornings was delicious, with most of the ingredients grown from their garden. We definitely recommend their granola, it's so yummy we had to purchase some to take home. Then of course, Su and Clare, they are such great hosts and are what really make this spot special, along with their puppy Cozy-Mo. They found out we had family nearby and offered to have them come over and put out a bottle of wine and a cheese plate for us. It was so incredibly sweet and thoughtful. We were looking for a place to relax for a few days, and that's exactly what we got and so much more. My husband and I will definitely be returning soon. read more

What a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. We were looking for a weekend away where we'd be a bit more pampered than at an AirBnB. I'd forgotten what a difference having a host is. The grounds are beautiful, there is beach across right across the street, and they make fresh fruit nectars and breakfasts. Pictures don't begin to do justice for the kind of place that Clare and Sue have built over their last year in ownership of the barn house. The property is in amazing condition - from the beautiful backyard garden to the perfectly landscaped roundabout and front yard. Only a short walk across the street is access to a private beach, which is the perfect place to take an evening walk or let your dog run free up and down the quiet stretch of shore. Inside the house, all of the rooms are thoughtfully decorated with warm and eclectic furnishings. We stayed in the upstairs suite with an attached bathroom and the room was perfect- super comfortable bed and beautiful views. The great room, just off the bedroom, has an amazing bay window that looks straight out to the water. We spent both of our nights here playing games from the house's bookshelf and hanging out. And the breakfast? Out of this world. But far and away the most special thing about this property is the pair running the show. In addition to the care and attention they provide to their guests, Clare and Sue have truly built a place that is filled with warmth, love and light. We cannot wait for our next visit. read more
