Fresh baked goods from a local bakery

Clare's property is a respite, a zen space and a little slice of heaven there on the corner of Marine Drive and whatever that other road is there in Sequim. My wife booked this for our 5th anniversary as a little get away and a chance to experience 'life in Sequim'. We are considering this area as it fits our 'rain shadow' requirements for living in this beautiful state. This property is warm, welcoming and laid out in a way where you can really feel comfortable and invited to enjoy. Clare's impeccable taste in the finishings and décor really add to the appeal of this property. We didn't find anything about it to be overdone. It was all just right. We didn't get to enjoy her cooking since she was having renovations done and her kitchen was unavailable. She left us with home made granola, farm fresh eggs from the beautiful hens out back, coffee, home made muffins from a local bakery and a variety of items stocked in the fridge and kitchen. We stayed in the loft room, I can't remember the name of it but it was over the office next to the big garage. We didn't anticipate the stairs. The whole trip was a surprise for me and my wife must have missed this in the description of the room. We managed ok, but they were steep for sure. The room was beautifully appointed with a full kitchen, seasonings, extra food supplies, etc... The bathroom had a deep soaker tub and lovely body wash and lotions. The final touch was the deck that overlooked the Juan De Fuca waterway. We had a chance to go down to this area, sit a spell and renew our vows. Its a lovely and peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the view, listen to the ocean waves and just relax! There is beach access from that point as well but its all private to Clare's property from that access point. Wow, what a great property! We got a chance to meet Clare and spend some time chatting with her, her grand daughter and we got to meet he precious little dog Archie. We look forward to spending some more time out this way and at this property. We'd highly recommend this location for a beautiful weekend get away of peace, tranquility and renewal. What a treat!

For $295/night you can be on proprietor Clare Monnin's construction site. You may view a video of what we are enduring here: https://vimeo.com/759211276 and here: https://vimeo.com/759211685 Ms. Monnin offered to try to find another accommodation. But we did not make a reservation for a vacation to move around and to someplace that we had no idea about. This offer amounted to "it's my way or the highway." More basic is the lack of honesty in representing this place to us, evident in Ms. Monin's not disclosing this ongoing construction. When we expressed our discomfort upon finding workmen on our arrival, she demurred, "but they'll only be painting." This was another misrepresentation: She neglected to mention the deafening noise from the power machinery that started at 9 am the following morning. Our stay here was the first vacation in three years. We booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Clare Monnin's various deceptions turned what should have been a joyous occasion into a nightmare. Don't let the same thing happen to you. P.S. The website promotes yet another deception: It gives the impression that one can walk across the property directly down to the deck and beach. But you can't. The photographs are carefully framed so that you cannot see that there is a two-line, paved road, which you must cross. And of course, no verbiage on the website alerts you to this fact.

We had such an amazing stay at the Barn House B&B, as soon as you step inside you fall in love with it. It's beautifully decorated and filled with charming views of the Dungeness bay on one side and their garden on the other. Everything is so clean, and the soaps and lotions in the rooms smell so good. Our room was so cozy, and the windows allow for a perfect view to wake up to. Breakfast both mornings was delicious, with most of the ingredients grown from their garden. We definitely recommend their granola, it's so yummy we had to purchase some to take home. Then of course, Su and Clare, they are such great hosts and are what really make this spot special, along with their puppy Cozy-Mo. They found out we had family nearby and offered to have them come over and put out a bottle of wine and a cheese plate for us. It was so incredibly sweet and thoughtful. We were looking for a place to relax for a few days, and that's exactly what we got and so much more. My husband and I will definitely be returning soon.

What a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. We were looking for a weekend away where we'd be a bit more pampered than at an AirBnB. I'd forgotten what a difference having a host is. The grounds are beautiful, there is beach across right across the street, and they make fresh fruit nectars and breakfasts. They are dog and kid friendly, and just the right distance from Seattle for a weekend away.

Our pup enjoying the private beach access.

We had a very comfortable room with the modern bathroom (I am glad I chose that). Breakfast was a highlight! Praline French toast, sausage, fruit, and coffee. Plenty of fuel for our hike to the Dungeness spit lighthouse. Sara, one of the owners, even went out of her way to find tide information for the spit. It felt like staying at your own family's farm house. Great location, close to lavender farms, Dungeness recreation area, and 10 min away from town. Very peaceful. In the evening we watched two bald eagles on the barn and sat on the porch. Doesn't get much better than that!

Small and very friendly with fabulous views of the Olympic mountains and average views across the flats of dungeness. The farm has excellent cute-ness qualities: White picket fence, the building is surrounded by a large porch; inside family portraits dating back to the turn of the century, big cllaw-foot baths with Oooodles of hot water (I had 2 per day, heaven!). Two elderly intelligent friendly resident owners who live in the building behind the Inn and still run the farm. Glenda Clark (ne Chambers) explained that the farm is the oldest family run farm in Washington state. She is thinking about trying to get it 'registered', the UK equivalent of 'listed'. It is no coincidence that Clark Chambers farm is the first building on 'Clark road'. Bob Clark is a never ending source of stories about farm life and the social history of the Dungeness region of the Olympic peninsular. A chirpy cheerful couple, they remind me of cockneys, with a different accent. I spent 2 nights with them. During one day I was able to explore Dungeness, During another I drove passed lake crescent and visited beaches on the West coast, Ruby, Beach 4 and Kalaloch. The B & B is n ot central for the Olympic peninsular but it does afford easy access. You can walk to Dungeness spit in less than a mile. Bob and Glenda talked about previous guests who liked to run, or cycle. The flat lands around dungeness are ideal for people who like these sort of activities. I'll definitely be going back in the summer...

The common area is beautifully and stylishly furnished. They will supply you with clean, warm blankets to snuggle up to as you sit by the fire pit for Happy hour, which takes place every afternoon. The grounds are lush and private enough that you're not running into other guests very often. The hubby and I loved the Lavender suite, which has a great view of the garden and sea. The bath was spacious and upscale as well. If you need ideas and suggestions for how to explore Olympic National Park, just ask. You won't be disappointed with the recommendations you receive. Would have gotten 5 stars except for the following; 1. Each time you come or go you have to get out of your car and manually open/close the gate. For what they charge for rooms they should have an electric gate and give people the code. 2. Breakfast is only served at 9AM, and often you want to get out early to beat the crowds to hiking/scenic places. 3. The ice machine has been broken for quite some time, so if you want ice later in the evening you need to hope the house manager is around. Otherwise it is a wonderful place to stay.

Value was fair. We paid $828 for two nights in the Indian Summer Suite ($918 with tax). For this the missus and I got a private bedroom with a queen bed, and our children each got their own beds in the kitchen/living area. The single bathroom and shower stall was adequate for our needs and we had a parking spot underneath the unit.
