Very good. Get food fast. Like the Chinese chips with sweet and sour sauce on table when u sit down.

Their food is awesome. There's a lot of other Chinese restaurants around this area but just save yourself the trouble and come straight here. It's comfort food so if you want fat free gluten free everything then go to Whole Foods and don't come here complaining about oil. read more

Consistently delicious Chinese food served with attentive and friendly service. My favorites are the general tso chicken and lo mein. The general tso sauce is a nice balance between spicy and sweet. The chicken is well breaded and slightly crispy. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. The entree portions are large. Prices are very reasonable considering the quality and quantity. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants. read more

The Eastern Pearl - Cantonese Near Me - Buffalo, New York

A group of us ordered lunch from Eastern Pearl. We ordered delivery from skip the dishes so I couldn't comment on the interior or condition of the restaurant. Ordered 4 lunch specials including beef, chicken and pork, as well as a shlew of appetizers that we could all share. The avocado fries are good. They kept their crunch even though they weren't kitchen to table. They Rocky shrimp is absolutely delicious. My favorite item from everything that we ordered. Schezuan dumplings were good. Nice little hint of spice. The broth buns were ok. I think that's one menu item you have to eat in the restaurant, with the delivery the bottoms were stuck to the leaves that were on the bottom of the container, and each one burst as we're trying to peel them out of the container. The chicken and pork were good. The beef continued the tendons and cartilage, so very chewy and crunchy. If you're not into that, then avoid the beef. Overall we were very happy and will definitely be ordering from here again read more

I came into town to visit family and we decided to give The Eastern Pearl a try. From the moment we walked in we were impressed with the ambiance and decor. We tried an array of apps and entrees and enjoyed everything we ordered. The avocado fries are a must try, they have an amazing crunch and flavor. Everything came out on point tasting fresh and left us with plenty of leftovers. The customer service at Eastern Pearl is amazing and the staff aim to please whether it's a table of 3 or a massive bus tour, everyone there is attentive and look to make sure you are enjoying your experience. read more

The interior of Eastern Pearl reminds me of some of the larger restaurants I went to in Beijing. It's loudly "Oriental", almost to the point of gaudy, but it fits the large dining space, so that the overall effect is still distinctively "Oriental" but comfortable to dine in. The staff is politely friendly and helpful, furthering the feeling of welcome. We have ordered many times from The Eastern Pearl, and so far not a single one of the dishes we've tried has disappoint. One of my favorite dishes is The House Special Crispy Chicken; whole chicken cooked until tender then cut-up, and each piece is then flash-fried so that the outside is deliciously crispy, but the meat is still juicy. All of the food portions are generous, so that the prices seem worth it. The only problem that I have is that there are so many things on the menu to try, I always have a hard time choosing what to order. read more

The Eastern Pearl hasn't changed that much since last time I was here over a year ago. The menu was pretty much the same, which is a good thing. Though I did notice the back wall water fall behind the warrior statues wasn't running. I came with a large group and we decided to order up a bunch of apps. Had the crispy crab rangoons, pork egg rolls, steamed shrimp dumplings (dim sum), and fried veggie dumplings. My favorite was the crab rangoons, they were small crispy pouches of crab/cream cheese, but were very tasty and different than your average Chinese take out place. On this visit I didn't order the Wonton Soup, but in past visits I had ordered this exceptional soup. We all shared our dishes family style and had the giant rotating circle built into our round table to move our plates around to serve and sample. I had ordered the Mango chicken, and it was pretty amazing. It had a great tart, sweet, and light spicey taste to the sauce. The mangos were cooked just right, not to soft or mushy. The other dish that stood out for me was the Walnut shrimp, which was huge lotus flour fried prawns stacked onto steamed broccoli and covered in a cream sauce and candied walnuts. I also really enjoyed the Pork fried rice...yes pork fried rice!!! Common in most Chinese restaurants (americanized of course) , but this version was not common at all. It was flavorful, and had larger peices of pork. I also had ordered the green tea to share, which was just good, but needed since it was a very cold night outside. Our server was efficient and accommodating, and even wrapped up the leftovers in separate boxes for everyone to take home. read more

The food was excellent. The problem was the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff sucked. I've never use the term sucks anymore since the 90's, but this place warranted me to bring it back to my vocabulary. The table was dirty with whatever water they used to wipe it down the bathroom wasn't well kept. I wouldn't recommend this place to any one. Except maybe for take out. read more

Stopped in the other day for lunch. From the exterior the restaurant looks pretty standard but on the inside is high quality in every respect. It reminds me of a less commercialized version of PF Chang's. The lunch specials are served 7 days a week from 11-3pm and start at $5.75. Along with the main dish is a choice of fried or steamed rice and soup or spring roll. What a deal! After being seated, fried wontons with duck sauce were placed at the table. The wontons were different than the usual ones. The appearance and taste was a notch up, perhaps they're homemade. My wonton soup was light compared to others. The Ma Po Tofu, a Sichuan dish of tofu and bean curd in a spicy sauce came out piping hot and hit the spot. The portion was fairly large and was enough to take half of it home for another meal. You can't beat a lunch deal like this in town. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Now I just have to come back at dinner to try their peking duck... read more

Very friendly staff. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. Portions are huge and I usually get the General Tso's chicken with chicken Lo Mein and it is out of this world. One of my favorites to visit. read more

I'm wondering if this place switched hands to new owners. The last time I was here, 2011, I wasn't impressed. It just seemed like standard fast food Chinese. My dad wanted to eat here for his birthday dinner tonight. I have to admit, I wasn't looking forward to it. Their menu seems different than it was a few years ago. And many of their selections were the same as what Wok & Roll offers. We ordered spring rolls, crab rangoons, beef chow fun, general tso's chicken, sweet & sour chicken, and chicken pad Thai. I have to say, I was totally impressed! The food is SO MUCH BETTER than I remember. The rangoons are little fried purses of light, slightly sweet crabby cream cheese. Yum! They were crunchy and not greasy. The spring rolls were nicely crispy, tasted good, but were stuffed with mostly just cabbage and it was kind of fibrous. Meh. I chose the beef chow fun, also known as pad see ew if you get it at a Thai restaurant. Wide egg noodles, tender beef. VERY GOOD. I think it's even better than Wok & Roll's version. More beef here than from Wok where you get only a couple of small pieces. The pad Thai was okay, but not my choice to order. Had a strong fish sauce taste and smell. Fish sauce to me is vile. I hate the smell and taste, so this Pad Thai wasn't my fave. The sweet & sour chicken was decent. Crispy, not too greasy, but not my choice also. The General Tso's, though not my choice, as well, was awesome. Crunchy texture, with sauce on it even! Usually this kind of chicken dish turns into a gloppy blob! Not from the Pearl though. It's awesome! I'd eat here again! And again! And even will order take out from here. I have to say, their chow fun was just as good, if not better than Wok & Roll's, one of my fave places for Chinese! Minus one star though- never got a refill on my water, fibrous cabbages spring roll, and super heavy fish sauced Pad Thai. Blech. But there was generally more good than not with my meal, so 4 stars! read more

We went here for dinner with a Groupon. The Groupon was a good deal but we should have went with more people for $50. We ordered the buns which were delicious. For entrees we ordered the black pepper chicken, spicy crispy beef and the house lo menu. All were very flavorful and not your typical Chinese. Service was okay and I had to ask for some items. We will return for sure. We only wish it was closer to home when in the mood for Chinese food. read more

This is a great place to come for sit-down Chinese food. I wouldn't pay these prices for take-out but the service here is exceptional and they even have a bar! I came here for a friend's birthday late at night before they closed and our server surprised us with two shots of homemade Saki. The food is good, not too much sauce and not too dry. But I found the flavor to be very bland. I had expected a little more zing for a "spicy" option on the menu. The ambiance inside is nice -the lighting is calm and there isn't too much noise. Overall, I would come back here again. read more

This is our favorite spot for Chinese food! The restaurant is always clean, and the service is typically friendly and quick. Every table has crackers with a dipping sauce, which is most honestly, my favorite part! We typically go for lunch and get one the combos. It comes with your choice of main entree (I typically get sweet and sour chicken), rice, and soup. The portions are perfect for lunch, and the price can't be beat! For dinner, the combo isn't available, but the portions are much larger, and certainly reflect the small increase in price. All in all I would highly recommend this place! read more

This Cantonese restaurant really speak volumes with their authentic Chinese food! I try my best to go here as often as I can. They even have dim sum, a cusine that is lacking Western New York. Though it may not be the best, it is definitely worth trying! Their pork shu mai brings back memories of NYC and their moo goo gai pan is as tender as can be! Makes me wonder if they are cooking their food sou vide! On a side note, I forgot my retainers here, and had to rush back and grab it. The waitress tossed out the food along with the retainer, but the workers there worked very, very hard to find it for me. This is something I can not simply overlook! What great service, and great people! Please try! read more

I am not familiar with many restaurants out here but my supervisor offered to take a couple of classmates and I to lunch - she knew the place so I just went along! The atmosphere: At first glance I wasn't too sure about this place but once you walk inside you can see it's modern, clean, and plenty of seating. The food: (only from the lunch menu) Plenty to choose from but not overwhelming! I got the braised tofu. Thinking it would just be tofu - nope! It came with brown rice (choice of white, brown, or vegetable fry) and vegetables also a choice of wonton soup, spring role, or egg drop soup. I got the won -ton soup and it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Wait staff and service very friendly. read more

I've been here a few times and I never had a bad meal. I can't say that I've had an amazing meal, but not having a bad meal hitherto is a nice claim to be made. The interior is nicer than most chinese restaurants which is nice. I typically stick with their cantonese menu. I was surprised by their Cod in special sauce. It's similar to a korean dish that like like except the korean dish is made with pork while this is Cod. Either way, it was very good and was good as a left over. The hot and sour soup is more on the sour side than the hot but tasty. This place gets busy often so be aware that you may have to wait. read more

I'd probably give this place 2 stars if it wasn't so darn pretty inside. This is one good looking Chinese restaurant! The booths... the tile.... I can go on and on..... The menu is very complete and glossy. Even the service is attentive and friendly. I had high expectations. Unfortunately they were not met. The food just wasn't all that good. It wasn't exactly bad (although it was too greasy.... even for Chinese food). The won ton soup was bland with mushy won tons (even though the crunchy noodles that I love to crush up and throw into my bowl appear to be homemade and are quite addicting). The steamed dumplings had very little taste as well. The roast pork fried rice, while attractive to look at appeared to be missing something. I'm not sure quite what, but it lacked that fried rice taste that I'm used to. It was also very, very greasy. Maybe all of that oil hid the taste... I'm not really sure. The Kung Pao chicken was equally lacking in flavor. Sure, it had a bit of spice...... but something was just off. This is a two star restaurant in a five star setting. I'd probably suggest to just close your eyes and enjoy some tasty Chinese food in a little hole-in-the-wall kind of take out place with a table or two. read more

Passed by this place a few times but never had time to stop. Had lunch today. Service was fantastic, the guy spoke English - - always a plus when dining in America. Fried veggie Rice was very tasty. The Sesame Chicken was absolute PERFECTION! All pieces were tender + juicy. Sauce was just the right amount of sweet! Egg Rolls were crisp, full of pork and NOT GREASY! Praise for the Wonton soup. Broth was flavorful chicken/possibly pork too. All food arrived in a timely fashion and great temperature to dig in without burning. Liked the interior of the place to generate an atmosphere taking you to a distant land. Nothing but acolades for a fine experience for us both and perfectly priced! ** A word of caution all those people posting pics, who don't bother to IDENTIFY them. I flunked Mind Reading 101, so don't expect me to be impressed with your photography skills when I have no freaking clue what I'm viewing. read more

The reviews on Yelp sent me here but could Yelpers be wrong or is it just me? I agree with most of the reviewers that the place is indeed nice and the wait staff friendly, but the food although served in hefty portions was average at best. When I asked our waiter what was different about Cantonese style cooking was he said "it's Cantonese style". Alrighty then. read more

Since I am Chinese, I am picky when it comes to Chinese food. As far as I know, Eastern Pearl is the only Chinese restaurant in Buffalo with a nice/ fancy sitting area. That's why me and my family (usually 10 of us) would go there for dinner maybe once or twice a year. As far as the food, it's better than most take out places and some dishes are pretty authentic. I would say the food here is pretty good for being in Buffalo. However, I prefer going to Toronto for good Chinese food or my mom's cooking. Their lunch special price is decent, other than that, their dishes are over priced. P.S the food is better when it first opened, but I think they have changed owners and chefs since then. read more

Good sit down Chinese food at a reasonable price. In my experience everything is fresh and made to order. This was my 3rd visit. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup, which has a very nice kick to it. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun was made to my specs...no shrimp. Portions were ample enough to take home, but not overwhelming. The friends Korean chicken was tender, well spiced and not overpowering. Service was prompt, friendly and very attentive, but not pushy. I used to go to Canada for good Chinese....thankfully there is now an excellent option close to home. I will be making Eastern Pearl my primary Chinese take out place from now on. read more

One star for the decor; that's it. The mei fun was way too dry; not sure if they're supposed to be like that, but it felt like they weren't cooked nearly enough. The vegetables were soggy and watery. The dumplings were definitely better, but still had a watery, almost microwaved consistency. My partner's clam dish was definitely far better, so perhaps they're hit and miss with specific dishes. The service, sadly, was severely sub par. Out of all the open tables/booths, we were seated behind a table of raucous, likely drunk men. They were so loud, I couldn't hear a word my partner was speaking to me. The waitress, while nice enough, didn't speak English so the language barrier made it difficult to ask for much. After we had finished and were ready for the check...there were no employees around. The place literally look deserted. Our waitress came back after five minutes of us sitting there uncomfortably, wondering if we should get up to find someone. Sad to give this place such a low review, as I really wanted to enjoy it. Alas, that wasn't the case. read more

I ordered the Beijing pork chop and crab/fish maw soup to go. They do an excellent job preparing the take out. Each item was wrapped in a plastic bag incase of spillage. Considering it was soup and a saucy dish, that was much appreciated. Beijing pork chop was great, I'd order that again. I personally like my fish maw diced into very tiny pieces. They absolutely do not skimp on it. I prefer the stringy crab meat versus the solid type. I will not be ordering the soup again but the flavors were good. Please keep in mind that the menu contains authentic chinese dishes. It was awkward waiting for my to go order. There was no...convenient location to stand. I moved around about 4 times...bar...takeout counter...and areas near the entrance. And I constantly felt like I was in the way. However the employees didn't suggest a specific location to stand or even offered a seat. I suggest waiting in your car. read more

The food is basically you are taking chinese take out and putting it in a restaurant. It left a lot to be desired. The waitress had advised that 1 special fried rice was a good portion to feed 4 people. Sure if you are looking for a snack. The whole party of 4 left hungry. The crunchy noodles were stale and tasted old. This is our first visit and we were looking for the waitress to give us an idea of what the specials were and hoping for suggestions . The first (and only) time I got take out from Eastern Pearl. My two friends and myself ordered three different dishes, they were all very bland and the General Tso's chicken and lemon chicken tasted exactly the same even though they looked completely different. We've picked up meals twice from Eastern Pearl during the pandemic, and they've both been excellent. They have an extensive menu --- something for everyone including a picky teenager --- and the prices are fair. The helpings are very generous and tasty. One dish was not quite as spicy as our son had expected but he said he liked it nonetheless and he's all about spicy. All the dishes had a fresh feel to them. When we picked up the meals, they were waiting there, piping hot. When we're able to dine in restaurants in the future, we'll definitely go to Eastern Pearl. In the meantime, they provide excellent takeout, and that's one bright spot during this difficult, dismal time. read more

Went here on a Sunday with a large party (12). The service was absolutely terrible and the kitchen didn't have a clue how to get our food out. First round of drinks came out right away, but the server never came back asking if we wanted refills or another drink from the bar. We received one entree after an hour of waiting, then 10 minutes later the kids' meals came out (three total) and then another 10 minutes the rest of the entrees came out. I have NEVER experienced something like this. The server was completely flummoxed that we were asking where our food was. The food -- General Tso's chicken had no spice at all. The chicken quality was excellent, but the sauce was bland. Same thing with the sesame chicken -- bland. The shrimp fried rice needed another minute of cooking and it had no flavor at all. These were the only dishes that I personally tasted. The bill -- 15 minutes after the last plate was cleared we hadn't seen the check. We asked for it. 20 minutes goes by....no check. We ask again. another 15 minutes, no check. We almost had to walk out. After 40 minutes we FINALLY received the check! Thankfully they ended taking 20% off the check. This place had come highly recommended, but I would waste my money here again! read more

I want to preface this with the fact that we have been coming to this restaurant for years, even dating back to when this restaurant was Chang's Garden, and it used to be our favorite Chinese restaurant in town. That being said, in the last 6 months or so we found a noticeable degradation in the quality of food that has been coming out of their kitchen; my girlfriend even had uncomfortable stomach issues the last two times we went here but we figured we would give it one more shot today. Sorry to say our redemption run to this restaurant was the worst experience we have had by far. Aside from the questionable work attire and disregard of health code regulations of the staff, the main issues were from the kitchen. I always get hot tea with my order, but when it came out, there were multiple pieces of loose leaf tea floating around in the cup (never happened before) and it was cold do the touch. I told my waitress and she apologized and took it away, never even offering to replace it (not good). Round two was our egg rolls that came out...not only did they bring the wrong dipping sauce with the plate, but I took one bite and the insides tasted burnt and oil started pouring out of the roll on to the plate (puddle larger than a silver dollar on the plate). I couldn't even bring myself to have another bite. That was it; I have never walked out of a restaurant before and hope I never will again, but we didn't even stay for our main courses...put $5 on the table for the inconvenience and left. So it is with a heavy heart that our run with the Eastern Pearl has come to an end...if anyone knows of a good Chinese restaurant to replace this one it would be much appreciated. read more

Two star food but alright ambiance. Please keep in mind my review is based on two take out lunches and 1 sit in for dinner. Overall I think this place is better than your side in the wall Chinese food restaurant....mostly because of the ambiance and the fact that the inside was pretty clean. My food was alright very average, for my two take out lunches I got a general tso lunch combo one time, and Mongolian beef special another. The chicken I got felt/tasted like it was fried in old oil because I got a slight stomach ache after eating it and the batter had a slight stale taste to it. The Mongolian beef was a little better but it seemed to have been flavored with a chicken noodle soup packet as it had little noddles in it and had grade b/c beef...very rubbery and chewy AND in addition to the poor beef there was a piece of plastic within the food itself (attached a pic) . So if I can help someone decide whether to eat in or take out... eat in. So my dining experience was a little better as I had the Chinese chips and salsa lol and was greeted by friendly staff. The proportions were hefty to compensate for the lack of quality. Food is 2 stars you can find better/cheaper Chinese restaurants but ambiance is alright so 3 stars it is. read more

The Eastern Pearl - Piece of plastic found within food. Good thing it wasn't glass. - Cantonese Near Me - Buffalo, New York

We are new to the area and visited the Eastern Pearl on a Thursday evening. The outside lends itself to "former International House of Pancakes" which makes the inside's warm ambiance a nice surprise. I ordered an Eastern Mai Thai which was a bit heavy on the grapefruit juice, but pretty to look at and easy to drink. My husband raved about the pork fried rice, which the server said was made fresh, and indicated was seasoned with a bit of sugar. I had Pad Thai, which was flavorful and filling (And I actually ate the leftovers, which is the mark of a great meal, as I rarely do so.) There were very few other patrons, so our server was attentive and helpful. Overall it was a great introduction to this area's Chinese food. As others have mentioned, it would be a bit pricey for take-out, but it makes for a great sit-down option. read more

Food is decent and what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. The black pepper chicken is excellent as is the sesame chicken or shrimp. Service is friendly and attentive. One complaint-served soup at lunch is always cold. However, they are always gracious in replacing the heated soup. You can choose a spring roll over the soup and I would recommend doing that. I think that the Eastern Pearl is up there with the better Chinese restaurants in WNY. read more

Wow! Took a risk on this place- kitschy exterior in a suburban strip plaza can equal disaster. The interior, though was classy and elegant in a way I have never experienced from a Chinese restaurant before. Service was quick and attentive. Prices were very good. The menu had all the classic "American Chinese" foods with some more traditional ones. Anyone looking for the more adventurous fare should stick to the little hole-in-the-wall places near UB, though. I ordered the sour cabbage and beef, and this was my favorite of any place locally (supplanting the fantastic one at Miss Hot Cafe). The cabbage was firm but tender, and oh so sour. The beef was thinly sliced and flavorful. My only complaint is that the sauce was too salty. The broth in the wonton soup was light and elegant rather than salty and oily. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll definitely stop by again. read more
