If it were in Arlington VA it'd be the VA China King

If you date a girl from Hong Kong, it's a China FLING If you're from Buffalo, in Hong Kong, try a China WING If you go to Karaoke in Hong Kong, hear China SING But if you want authentic Chinese food, CHINA KING! If you're wearing gold made in Shanghai, China BLING If The Police (the band) play in Guangzhou, China STING All the wonders that a trip out here will China BRING But if you want home style noms, go to CHINA KING! If you like to partner swap in Xi'an province, China SWING If you propose in Shenzhen, then give her a China RING If you wanna enter her Forbidden City, try BEIJING And if you want Chinese in Buffalo = CHINA KING! I'm Michael Jackson, be my Pretty Young China THING You're pretty fly (for a Chinese guy) said the OFFSPRING I'll run to you like Bryan Adams, ouch my China HAMSTRING But if you're starving in Amherst, go to CHINA KING! I'm so thrilled with this restaurant, I'll Stage-5 China CLING Think there's better round here? You must be CHONGQING Omg this tastes so good I think I'm KUNMING No wonder I'm referred to as the VA CHINA KING WHAT As I said before, when I lived in Virginia (VA), they used to call me the VA China King. What to get: Beef w Black Pepper off the Chinese Menu, or Chicken w/Black Pepper is how I usually get it (off menu). Salt N Pepper Fish. Chicken w/Egg Sauce. Mapo Tofu. What else: Any Homestyle Chinese Menu item Had a really bad start with them, years ago, they made me a large instead of the small I ordered (Shrimp Curry), with no extra spice which I asked for. I told them I'd small price ($6) not the large price ($12) because it had been their mistake. She refused to refund, refused to make me a small, refused to charge me for a small, and I refused to take the large since I had not ordered it. So she kept the $12 and kept my food, and I walked out with nothing having been robbed of $12 and screamed at. I'm principled. I don't take to being robbed. But the food is too good for me to stop coming, so I've just been careful with my orders since then. However, I'd have been here twice as often over the years if that incident had never happened, so it ended up costing them hundreds - literally. But all that aside, what you have here is some of the best - and by far the best value - authentic home style Chinese food in WNY. The Americanized portion of the menu (on the printed menus) is pretty good, from the General Tso to the Curry Shrimp. But the Chinese stuff (which is only listed on the wall, hand-written, not on any printed menu), consists of about 60 items, a few of which are soups, all absolutely fabulous. And cheap. And miles better than the fake sh**. Sadly the vast majority of Americans order the fake sh**. And yes I look at them in a judgy way and yes you're all basic AF if that is you. Eating fake American food designed for people with no real palette, that an actual Chinese person would never be caught dead eating. Just an FYI. So, those home style dishes. What is more fabulous is that they all cost between $5 and $6.50. You can't really ask for much more than that. They're decent sized, and you can buy 2 of them for the same price as 1 home style dish elsewhere. Beef noodle soup is good, pork w pickled veg soup is better, pork chop noodle soup is best. The rest? Get Beef w Black Pepper (order it off menu as Chicken w/Black Pepper if you want, same price), with onions, mushrooms, white rice and lots of wonderful sauce. Add Sriracha yourself. Perfection. Dishes such as Salt N Pepper Pork Chop/Shrimp are pretty incredible too. Shrimp/Beef/Chicken with Egg Sauce are amazing, well worth a try. Garlic Sauce dishes - sweet but good. Shredded Pork dishes - excellent. Pork Chop dishes, Pork w/ Pickled Cabbage - great. Other home style menus in WNY at Mandarin Garden (Chicken Eggplant!), Peking Quick One (Poached Pork!), China Taste (best in town! So many dishes!), Crystal, Gin Gin (Salt Pepper Chicken Chop). And by the way, China King is owned by Billie Jean King, Stephen King, and Ben E King. You're welcome to go here to eat with me, just as long, as you stand, stand by me. Stand by me. And darlin, darling, stand. By me. Oh stand. By me. Anyway if you love Chinese food, I think I can see you're For China. Wait. Is that true? Can I see you're For China?

This is my favorite Chinese take out place in Buffalo. It's extremely affordable (especially their lunch specials) and they have really awesome home style cooked dishes that aren't on their actual menu (it's written on sheets of paper/white board if you're in the restaurant). My favorite dishes from here are their fish with garlic sauce and their beef stew noodle soup.

This place has been around for a very long time. They are located in a plaza located at the corner of North Forest and Maple. Because of the other establishments in the plaza, there are always a lot of cars in the parking lot, but finding a Parking space has never been a problem. When you walk in, it's clearly more of a fast food pickup Chinese restaurant rather than a sit down kind of restaurant. However, there are clean tables in there, if you choose to eat there. Just keep in mind that they do not have servers though. As for their menu, they have a pretty good lunch menu and the prices are super affordable. In fact, I'm really surprised to see it so low. I've always been pretty satisfied with my order. The last time I was there, I tried something new: Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. While it was a hot day, the soup was very good. It was hearty with large chunks of beef briskets, veggies and nice, savory broth. In all, it was a complete meal for me. I had so much food that I could not finish it all in one sitting. The only downside was that I had asked for hot oil and the hot oil tasted a little rancid, so for that, they get 4 stars. Would I go back there again? Yes, simply because it's fast, convenient, food is good, and most importantly, highly affordable.

Golden Hill Asian Cuisine - C49. Orange Chicken on the provided white rice, with an egg roll and crab rangoon on our plate at home. Delicious

Finally had the chance to dine in. Walked in at 1:45pm on a Monday and there was soft music playing…read morein the dining room. I was seated and immediately served complimentary tea, and fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce. I ordered the Kung Pao lunch special which comes with a choice of egg roll or soup, and white or vegetable friend rice. I chose the wonton soup and fried rice, and I ordered an egg roll as well. The egg roll came out quickly, and the lunch special was served right when I finished that. The food was good and the dish was spicy (Kung Pao is supposed to be spicy but it never is-- not for me) and the service was polite. When the check came it was accompanied by a plate with two slices of orange and a fortune cookie. The only thing I didn't like about the visit was that there was an advertisement for a big commercial law firm on the back of the fortune slip and the "lucky number" was the phone number. I thought that was tacky. I walked out at 1:15pm. Great, quick lunch.

Nice people, good food, pleasant atmosphere: because I can never decide which is more important,…read morethey are equally important factors when rating a restaurant. Golden Hill has all three. And a lunch menu. Wow! I just gave my receipt another look and the people are nicer than I thought. I thought they were pleasant, friendly, happy we were there, concerned that we would enjoy our visit. The lunch menu offerings were each $10.95 and included eggroll OR soup, and white or vegetable fried rice. Daughter ordered the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus an appetizer order of steamed dumplings. I ordered Eggplant with Pork in Garlic sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus a small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup. The soup on the appetizer menu was $3.95. My receipt shows the server put the soup as my lunch choice and charged $2.95 for the eggroll. She never said a word, didn't point out that I could save a dollar by switching the sides around. So the people are all I thought plus kind and conscientious. Marvelous. I was delighted with everything I ate. The entree was enough for two, so supper came home with me. The eggroll was fresh and crisp and non-greasy, seemed homemade. Excellent. The eggplant was perfectly prepared and cooked, as was the pork. Delicious. The hot and sour soup was easily one of the best I've had, and I'm always looking for a great hot and sour soup. Coming from downtown Buffalo, we'd been in Williamsville because I had an appointment on Essjay Rd. Afterward, we looked for a place to have lunch before shopping. Finding Golden Hill at 4001 Sheridan Dr. in Amherst was pure serendipity. You can bet, though, that I will visit again after next appointment.

Their lo mein is totally different than when they first opened and I love it now. I got beef the first time, but it comes with very little, so I opted for vegetable the second time. Not a lot of vegetables throughout (mostly on top, as you can see in the photo), but it was really delicious! Both times the lo mein noodles were the perfect firmness and had great flavor. I want it again and again! Matt didn't enjoy his sesame beef. The batter is too thick, and the beef gets completely lost. I like that they will do sauce on the side. We like to toss it ourselves last minute so that it doesn't get soggy. Better for leftovers, too. They do charge an extra $1.50, but they give you a lot of the sauce. The wonton soup is amazing! A small is only $3.95 and it comes with five big pork wontons. Makes me happy because I get wonton soup cravings. I'll definitely be getting this again. The General Tso's Chicken is spot on. The pork egg rolls are good, your typical egg roll. The crab rangoons are also quite good. Their prices are great and the service has always been friendly. I'm so glad we tried again, they're really close by, makes it very convenient. We're definitely going to be frequently returning regular customers. Thanks Golden Dragon!!

We stumbled…read moreacross them because it was pretty late for dinner and our regular Chinese food place was closed. Crystal stays open until 1 am! They open at 4 pm, just an fyi. We got a bunch of stuff and everything was delicious. Literally the best beef lo mein I've had since I moved here six years ago. I've been just settling with it at other places so this was an exciting discovery! We also ordered sesame shrimp. It wasn't like other sesame dishes we've gotten. It was a pink sauce that was similar to sweet and sour, but it was very good and the shrimp were large and plump and cooked perfectly. We tried their fried dough just on a whim and it's like nothing I've had before... it's a nice little add on for $3.50. They have American Chinese and also authentic dishes, which is fun. Prices are in line with other Chinese food restaurants and portions are pretty generous. We'll definitely be back...like, hopefully very soon!

The service is friendly and super fast, and the portions are huge. I only had their American style Chinese food, but they also had a large menu of authentic Chinese cuisine on the weekend. The interior is simple but very clean, with lots of booths. I highly recommend Crystal Asian for great Chinese food!
