I would definitely order from the Wok 28 again. It's a takeout Chinese restaurant with a rather standard menu. We opted for the lunch special. It was quick, inexpensive food but surprisingly tasty. My dish with string beans was full of big and juicy shrimp. The pork with garlic sauce was also a good choice, but the sauce could have been a lot spicier. The hot and sour and the wonton soups were average. We also ordered beef rolls from the appetizer menu. Have you ever eaten anything with melted cheese in a Chinese restaurant? The beef rolls were stuffed mainly with meat and cheese. It tasted more like pizza logs without the sauce. It was good and worth trying, not a taste expected from a Chinese menu. We placed the order at the counter and ate some of our food in the dining room area. The person who took care of us was really nice and friendly. After it was sold a few years ago, I thought it wasn't nearly as good for awhile but recently got a small order that was very good. A pint of hot and sour soup was one of the best I've had; good flavor and lots of pork and tofu. A quart of wonton soup had many wontons (I think 10). Noodles were crisp. Egg rolls are small (especially compared with Gin Gin which has the best I've had in WNY). Shrimp egg foo young had a decent amount of small shrimp and was good but the gravy was a little too strong (one of the sauce components). We've ordered take-out from Wok 28 every so often, even before COVID. Was surprised when I realized I haven't reviewed them yet. Orders are taken over the phone and in all the times we've placed orders we've never had a mix-up. Occasionally they even throw in a free order of crab rangoons. Our order is pretty standard each time. My husband gets the sesame chicken which I'm not crazy about because its too sweet. Not theirs. Just the dish in general. I get the chicken with black bean sauce which is listed as hot but I don't think its overly hot, just right. We also like their Moo Shu Pork. I really like the flavor and the small shredding of the cabbage. I also like their fried dumplings which has a nice amount of dough, not too thick. Reasonable prices, accurate orders, a good tasting food. Guess that's why we keep going back. read more

Although it appears to be a nondescript Chinese takeout place in a strip mall, it is a very clean location with limited tables and a large menu. Ordered takeout by phone and the food was ready in 15 minutes. The Hot and Sour soup was perfect for me, on the spicy side. Beware that the Curry Chicken is quite hot, but the ingredients are all very fresh and delicious. My wife was pleased with her spring roll (a bit smaller than she is used to coming from North Buffalo) and her Chicken and Broccoli entree. The service is terrible and food is poor quality as of late. We've been going here for years, but no longer will go there. We ordered crispy shrimp with vegetable fried rice and they now want to charge us $1.50 for vegetable fried rice which has always has been included. We asked since when was the extra charge for vegetable rice, but they offered no explanation. When we got the dinner home the white cream sauce was missing, so we called asking for the sauce and "tony" said too bad. Made no offer to make it right or refund us a few dollars for their error. I noticed new people when I walked in to pick up my order and when I called it in. I have been ordering from Wok for over 25 years. I have always thought wok was fantastic. Unfortunately I'm not sure what is going on. The sesame noodles were fantastic. Better than ever before. That's where it stops. The chicken wings were not the jumbo wings I use to get. They were small and smelled of old oil. I threw them in the garbage. The best ever crabmeat Rangoons for the last 20 plus years...had sub par filling that was not filling the pastry, not creamy and completely disgusting...I threw them out as well. Whatever is going on...fix it. I won't be coming back for a while...but will try it again in a few months...get your act together with whatever is going on. The girl in front is absolutely delightful and kind...that's a plus. But not enough for my family to order again for a few months. The General Tso Chicken at this place was crafted with my specific taste buds and culinary sensibilities in mind. I can honestly say it's the best General Tso Chicken I've ever had. I've looked far and wide, in dozens of cities, and have never been as satisfied as I am at Wok 28. I remember the days this place was Wok 22 (in fact I have their number saved in my phone as that). Williamsville folk lore has it they had to change the number because they failed a health inspection and changing the number is some kind of loop hole. Well as long as it tastes good I don't mind getting a little sick now and then. Here's what set's this Tso apart from everywhere else.... First, it's got a nice crispness on the outside but always tender on the inside, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Second, the flavor! It's a strong taste, not wimpy like most General Tso that has the little pepper icon next to it on the menu but in reality there's barely any spice. I love the flavor of Wok 28's Tso. And lastly, the thickness of the sauce. It's thick enough so when you roll a piece of chicken in rice, it comes out completely covered in rice and sticky goodness. There are probably 20 Chinese places closer to my house, but I always make the drive. I have even gotten speeding tickets on the way to pick up my order. It's that good, I couldn't even go the speed limit I was so excited. I tried to explain that to the lady officer who pulled me over, but she prefers Red Pepper on Maple. read more

Service was good, and the food was great. The sweet and sour chicken is light and crispy, and the sauce meets it's criteria. The orange chicken isn't spicy at most places even though they do say it is. They aren't lying here so be aware of that. The sesame chicken is extremely sweet, which really comes down to preference if you like that or not. We also got chicken wings to share. They are very big, juicy, and crispy. They were my favorite thing there. Maybe not yours if you don't like fried chicken and things like that. There does seem to be a lot of dust and grime on the floors and wall which isn't the best, but it's worth it for the food. read more

My go-to Chinese place but that's not saying much. Wok has gone through many name changes, reportedly due to health code violations. Food is always greasy and leaves me unsatisfied a few hours later. Still, I sometimes find myself craving it. Anyways, can't beat the cheap lunch specials. Storefront is not anything special. Service is hit or miss. Phone calls here make me anxious because the employees are kind of cold and I have a hard time understanding them. My favorite thing to get here is the honey chicken. It's more breading than chicken, but the sauce is sweet and tasty. I also like their beef and broccoli. When I want some bad Chinese food fast, this is where I go. It's pretty difficult to find good Chinese takeout in Buffalo so this place is a gem. Besides that, their lunch special is definitely worth it. Sometimes nothing is better than curling up on the couch while watching Netflix with some wonton soup, egg rolls, chow mein, lo mein, or fried rice. This is the second and last time I get food from here. Chicken Chow Mein, oily and greasy. Egg roll was no better than frozen food! These employees are so RUDE. My boyfriend and I wanted to order Chinese for dinner and they were so rude to us on the phone. They didn't understand how to be polite. The woman on the phone told us " NO DELIVER YOU PICK UP NOW" because we had a question about our order. I use to love this place but now I will never go back. This restaurant used to be good, but they have a habit of leaving out important items. Once they left out a whole meal and another time the sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken meal. When you call them they say something like you can come back and we'll give it to you free. Unfortunately, the drive is 10 miles each way, so we have to make something else!
