This is our go-to spot for Chinese takeout. Like I mentioned before the portions here are incredible. I ordered one combo plate and had two meals for the price of one. The service speed is also great. We ordered and our food was done and delivered to us in less than 20-25 minutes total. We also had some crab rangoons and since every combo plate comes with a soup and an egg roll too, we had those as well. You really get so much food for the price and it's delicious. Wow this place has really been getting worse the more we get it. Lancaster does not have alot of Chinese food options so this was our go-to for a while. We get food from here atleast once a month but now it's absolutely terrible. The worst is their crab ragoons. They don't use cream cheese in them. It's more like a wet, sweet goo inside of them. Ate one, bit a second one and couldn't stomach them so they went right into the trash. Their mei fun has changed also...they recently changed the rice noodles they use. Rice noodles are typically already thin... But they must have used extra-thin rice noodles and didn't alter their cooking time so they are very overcooked. If I'm craving Chinese, I'm ordering from Greak Wok! The prices are very reasonable, especially for the amount of food you get. My husband and I can share a meal, which comes with soup, and both be satisfied. The wonton soup is something I crave. The wontons are tender and full of filling and the broth is so good you can drink it. We've ordered delivery and pick-up and have never had issues. There is sometimes a wait but, to me, that's the sign of a place that does a lot of business because it's so good! Tried this yesterday for take out. I was not really a fan of my food. My daughter was of hers. I had an order of the dumplings - I think pork - and veggie chow mein, The best that I can say about the food is that it was "meh". The rice that came with veggie dish was very dry. The dumplings, definitely made in house , were just OK. The dough was thick and there were a few "chewy" bits in the meat mass. What annoyed me was that the container for the chow mein was stapled shut. I wasn't really paying attention so when I opened it, the staple flew into the food. It wouldn't have killed me, it was just something that has never happened with Chinese Take Out before. Oh well. Daughter had chicken lo mein and won ton soup. Still raving about it today. I have picked up from here in the past - many years ago. I remember really liking their food. Times change. I don't think this restaurant will be a part of my rotation. read more

Was close by and being lunchtime, I was looking for somewhere to eat and hankering Chinese. This is certainly an unassuming location being in the Tops Plaza but I walked in and was warmly greeted. I ordered the Lo Mein Lunch special, along with the Cheese Wonton's / Crab Rangoon and within 5 minutes my food came out and I realized what a huge mistake I made, not with the quality of the food ( because it was all delicious ) but with the sheer amount of it. I was disappointed with my steamed dumplings, but disgusted when I found long black hairs in the dish..

We ordered sweet and sour chicken for our child. The chicken was crispy but the sauce was sweeter than other places we typically order from, but she had no complaints. The General Tso chicken and chicken in garlic sauce both looked and tasted like the sauce was made with a base of sweet and sour sauce with a little chili added. It was also too sweet and not good and we both ate about 2 bites of it. The chicken in the garlic sauce dish looked gooey and had a weird texture. The vegetables consisted of green pepper, onion, celery and a couple pieces of broccoli, which were crisp tender and seemed fresh. The sauce had no trace of garlic or anything savory, and even though I could see chili, there was no heat or spice. The egg rolls and wonton soup were both slightly off in flavor so we didn't eat more than a bite of those. The wonton was ok, it was the broth that had an unfamiliar flavor. I don't like putting something negative out there, so I tried to be fair and honest in my description. On our lunch break we decided to have Chinese but didn't know if any locations were around us. My co worker looked up a place and from the outside it didn't look too welcoming. So we decided to come to great wok, when we went in we were greeted and asked how we were, which most people don't do anymore. We took a short time to decide what we wanted and the gentleman was very polite and patient with us. After ordering we only waited no more than 10 minutes for our food. After opening it up and seeing it we couldn't wait to dig in, so we ate in the car. The chicken is perfectly crispy and juicy, the sweet & sour sauce is made with pineapple which makes it sweet, the rice isn't too hard and it's not over cooked, the Crab Rangoons were absolutely amazing, and the beef lo mein was very well seasoned and the noodles were cooked perfectly along with the steak being great. Update: Our most recent trip here was not so great - my boyfriend legitimately spit something out while he was eating and thought he broke a tooth. He started examining this little thing he spit out, and he thought it was a rock... I looked at it in more detail. It was very obviously a piece of someone else's tooth or a filling that had fallen out from someone else. His teeth were not damaged, he has actually never had a filing in his life. It was the size of my pinky fingernail. This totally turned us off from eating the rest of our meal, or returning. Be careful with Chinese places. read more

I ordered my favorite Chinese food--shrimp with lobster sauce. An older man took my order but never gave me an order number. I had to pay with my order. I was charged $11.69 + $11.72. I told him I was charged twice. He didn't know how to refund my card so he refunded me $11.26. With his horrible English I didn't understand his explanation and let it go. A man came in and placed his order. He was served before me. I tried to tell the older man I didn't get a number and he yelled something at me! I am not sure what he said. I tried to tell a second man who spoke better English and he pointed to the older man saying that he has me. The older man yelled at me again in front of everyone. If I hadn't prepaid I would've walked out! 6 more people were served before me! The food was terrible.and not worth waiting for! The egg drop soup was okay. It was definitely not as good as previously. The rice was bland, lots of peas in the sauce and 6 large shrimp. The shrimp were the best. Even adding soy sauce, sweet sauce and hot mustard did not help the flavor! The egg roll was crispy but again no flavor! I was very disappointed in both service and food. The owner of this place doesn't like most wok & roll, but he certainly likes weally good wok music, and his favourite is "Great Wok" which is why he named his business accordingly. Examples of Great Wok include the Wolling Stones, the Wamones, and more wecently, Wadiohead. I like how when you order from here, the owner explains exactly what your dish will be like, what it will taste like, and what is in it to make sure that you will like it. Their Special Fried Rice is actually really good, and their shrimp curry, which is my go-to dish, is okay. But their rice and their good prices are enough to earn this little place a 4 rather than a 3. They are open pretty late and usually don't lock the doors early unlike lots of Chinese places. I will start by saying the food is very good and I have been going here for years. But recently the service has been going downhill. During the last three times I've been there, once the place was packed and they were behind in orders with people waiting forever, next time packed again but this time bags of food were sitting on the table but no one was working the counter to give the customers their food...long wait again. The last time, 3 days ago, one other person was waiting for food and my order wasn't ready either. I hate moving. Isn't it obvious why? Every time you move you need to find yourself that new great Chinese restaurant. Could Great Wok be "the one"? In order to be considered for that top Chinese restaurant in my heart there are (3) criteria that need to be met: (1) Authenticity In all honesty, "Chinese restaurants" are really American-Chinese restaurants; I don't think "General Tso Chicken" is an actual dish in Beijing, but live baby octopi (or octopuses... your call) might be. But I do find Great Wok authentic because they serve their food in paper cartons (my favorite), I couldn't understand the person on the phone (a good sign) and my food was ready in 5 minutes, just as they told me it would be. [Check] (2) Proximity I can't go and cross the Himalayas every time I need to scratch my Chinese food itch. A great Chinese restaurant needs to be close enough to keep me interested. [Check] (3) Scrumptiousness I found the food really good at Great Wok. I tried the sesame chicken and the chicken lo mein.
