Ever since Covid 19 hit it's now more important than ever to take out from small businesses. Mayflower for me is usually hit or miss. It's hard coming back to American Chinese food since having Canadian Chinese food. I decided it was time to try some Chinese food again. I ended up ordering from their lunch specials as it's more than enough food for me. I got the Szechuan chicken with extra chicken and chicken fried rice. Today's lunch was on point. The wonton soup was not that good because the wontons were too thick, tough and sticky. The veg lo mein was a bit tasteless and did not contain enough veggies. The fried rice was overloaded with onions and was bland. The crab rangoon was tough on the outer edges and had an overpowering fishy smell and taste like the crab wasn't fresh. Hubby liked the cashew chicken and it looked better than my meal. Overall, everything "LOOKED" good but taste is another matter. It's just okay. I personally prefer China King. read more

Ordered a whole suite of takeout; General Gao, Sesame chicken, egg rolls, beef lo mein, and wonton soup. The prices that mayflower charges are economical, and the portion sizes are great, but the food isn't of highest quality. Seems like they cut corners. The beef lo mein had the smallest slithers of beef imaginable, and the general gaos was mostly cornstarch. This place is best fitted for a rushed economical lunch. read more

CAUTION... long post ahead! My whole life American-Chinese cuisine has been consistent (in taste) no matter where I go. That being said when I moved to Lockport a year ago, one of my initial goals was securing one of the few restaurants of the type. The minute I did business with Mayflower Chinese I knew I had found my new go-to spot. I was very pleased with the service, from the initial phone call to placing my leftovers in the fridge. Just so I don't start rambling I will make a list of all positive or negative attributes in the restaurant. -phone call to place my order always goes perfectly, whoever typically answers the phone speaks very good English. -I always leave my apartment a few streets away directly after placing my order. When they say 10 minutes, they mean it. VERY quick from start to finish. In fact, I have never gone there and not be able to pay and leave within the span of about 3 minutes. -the FOOD... incredibly delicious I really can't say enough. It's looks just like your typical place, but tastes so very fresh and light. Not to mention they have a huge menu. There is something here for everyone. -the employees are all very very nice, and you can tell that they do their job at ease and are always committed to the customer. (I'm almost done). -I have been going to this restaurant for almost 3 years now and absolutely nothing has changed. -prices are typical and worth even more. Have been coming to the Mayflower for years and it still continues to rate as my top spot for Chinese takeout. Food is always prompt and orders are always correct. Presentation for take out is always spot on even with the food being all containered up. Not many places do China quite like these Chinese people. Prices are fair and when they say ten minute they don't lie. Food is alway piping hot till it drops. And they are very friendly unlike other Chinese restaurants in the area. I usually stick with the general tso chicken with an egg roll or two and fried rice and it's great. This place has absolutely the most delicious Chinese food! My favorite dish would be the Chicken in Garlic Sauce, possibly followed by the Curry Shrimp with Onions. The best part about this place is that they will customize a dish. If asked, they will replace beef with chicken or not include any vegetables you specifiy. This is a large place and I am impressed at how clean it is. The service is friendly and always smiling. Sometimes I order by phone. But sometimes I like to order in person, because they're close to other stores I like to wander in. Their Beef on a Stick is pretty good too. And the Fried Cheese Wontons are to die for! If you think you what to have a horrible rating experience and a shot at food poisoning choose any of the other Chinese places in lockport, as a bonus you'll even get to see child labor and a if your lucky a chance to see how indentured slavery works. I won't go as far as saying this is the best Chinese food ever. What I will say, is for Lockport this is the best Chinese you can get. If you order you can expect your food to be ready in about 10 minutes, Regardless of what you order. Food is pretty good, fresh, convenient and they don't mind changing things... For example extra spicy, chicken fried rice instead of pork fried rice, etc. The people here are always very pleasant and accommodating. The combos are reasonably priced. They have a wide variety of things on the menu, sure to please your palette. I myself enjoy their General Tso Chicken or Chicken Lo Mein(extra spicy). My wife enjoys the Sweet and Sour Chicken. The biggest downside I can think of is that they are cash only. I am not certain but I don't believe they deliver anymore. This is my go-to chinese food place ever since Emperor Ming's closed on Transit. I usually order a large pickup order and it takes 15-20 minutes. I've heard a lot about this place & the reviews were predominantly good to great. So I tried. I got what I consider a true test for chinese food. Orange chicken. And they failed. The corn starch to chicken ratio was 80/20. 20% chicken is disappointing to say the least. Especially after reading the reviews. The recipe itself was good. But not great. Lacked sodium & Of course I added sriracha but that's my need for heat. Egg roll was standard frozen egg roll. Fried rice was ok. And the broccoli was undercooked. First time here for lunch. Had the lunch special of Hunan chicken with hot & sour soup. The hot & sour soup is pretty much flavorless & gelatinous. Two spoonfuls of that & im done. Pretty bad. Now on to the Hunan chicken with rice. The rice is absolutely flavorless. The chicken is cooked well as are the green peppers & broccoli but again very little flavor. You do get a small hint of the black bean sauce but the sauce is just much too thick. I'm truly disappointed as the location is very convenient & the owners are very friendly.
