Szechuan chicken lunch special with chicken fried rice..so hot!
    Ashley E.

Ever since Covid 19 hit it's now more important than ever to take out from small businesses. Mayflower for me is usually hit or miss. It's hard coming back to American Chinese food since having Canadian Chinese food. I decided it was time to try some Chinese food again. I ended up ordering from their lunch specials as it's more than enough food for me. I got the Szechuan chicken with extra chicken and chicken fried rice. Today's lunch was on point. It was hot, fresh and tasty. One thing I would've changed is the onion in the rice. Today was it was too much onion but it's still yummy.

I love Mayflower! They are the best for Chinese food in Lockport. I go there for lunch all the time and they never mess up my order and they hook me up with extra fortune cookies! I love trying new things here and everything is hot when you order it.

Vegetable delight. Mild sauce. Very nice.

Their reputation is "best Chinese in Lockport." I can't vouch for that, but the food here is very good. I had the vegetable delight and enjoyed it very much. I plan to return and ask for just a little more seasoning and a little less broccoli. The rice is perfect. I am sure once I know the menu better and how they prepare, I will be able to order and get the perfect meal.

Beef lo mein, egg rolls, and wonton soup.

Ordered a whole suite of takeout; General Gao, Sesame chicken, egg rolls, beef lo mein, and wonton soup. The prices that mayflower charges are economical, and the portion sizes are great, but the food isn't of highest quality. Seems like they cut corners. The beef lo mein had the smallest slithers of beef imaginable, and the general gaos was mostly cornstarch. This place is best fitted for a rushed economical lunch.

Out of lockport selection of this kind of food, Mayflower is the best for the area. They include broccoli with meals with us also a plus :)

Always great service with a smile. I'd give it 5 stars though fried rice has changed. Other than that delicious!

Best Chinese in Lockport. I only buy from here and am never disappointed. Pricing is what you expect. Nothing expensive but nothing cheap.

Walking in the place looked uncared for. Outdated and lackluster and vacuums and what not strewn about. It was very off putting and not how I would personally present my restaurant, even if I could not afford an update. The food options were limited for a buffet, which would be great if it meant excellent quality as a result. But that was not the case. There were 0 Chinese donuts the whole time ... just an empty tin of sugar. The sauced chickens were so gooey it was off-putting. The rice was in steamers but the spoons to scoop them out were covered in dried rice and dried vegetable from the fired rice which was also gross. The sweet and sour sauce had a weird film. The chicken for it was like warm. Same with the egg roll. I barely ate as I was afraid of food poisoning and just grossed out. I'm giving an extra star for keeping our soda filled and being nice people but this buffet is struggling and I would decline any future invite here, even on someone else's dime. Also on the fact the person who wanted this food didn't complain about a single thing except the lack of donuts. To each their own I guess!

It wasn't too busy in there but it had just enough people that it wasn't dead (@5 PM). It's small with just a few bays of food. They had vegetable lo mein, white rice, vegetable fried rice, vegetable egg rolls, general Tso chicken, honey chicken... all the typical stuff. The service is good - they cleaned up our plates quickly and got our drinks right away. Typical and adequate for what you need at a buffet. The food tasted good to me and I enjoyed it. I think it's worth it for the reasonable price - you get what you pay for.

Finally had the chance to dine in. Walked in at 1:45pm on a Monday and there was soft music playing…read morein the dining room. I was seated and immediately served complimentary tea, and fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce. I ordered the Kung Pao lunch special which comes with a choice of egg roll or soup, and white or vegetable friend rice. I chose the wonton soup and fried rice, and I ordered an egg roll as well. The egg roll came out quickly, and the lunch special was served right when I finished that. The food was good and the dish was spicy (Kung Pao is supposed to be spicy but it never is-- not for me) and the service was polite. When the check came it was accompanied by a plate with two slices of orange and a fortune cookie. The only thing I didn't like about the visit was that there was an advertisement for a big commercial law firm on the back of the fortune slip and the "lucky number" was the phone number. I thought that was tacky. I walked out at 1:15pm. Great, quick lunch.

Nice people, good food, pleasant atmosphere: because I can never decide which is more important,…read morethey are equally important factors when rating a restaurant. Golden Hill has all three. And a lunch menu. Wow! I just gave my receipt another look and the people are nicer than I thought. I thought they were pleasant, friendly, happy we were there, concerned that we would enjoy our visit. The lunch menu offerings were each $10.95 and included eggroll OR soup, and white or vegetable fried rice. Daughter ordered the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus an appetizer order of steamed dumplings. I ordered Eggplant with Pork in Garlic sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus a small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup. The soup on the appetizer menu was $3.95. My receipt shows the server put the soup as my lunch choice and charged $2.95 for the eggroll. She never said a word, didn't point out that I could save a dollar by switching the sides around. So the people are all I thought plus kind and conscientious. Marvelous. I was delighted with everything I ate. The entree was enough for two, so supper came home with me. The eggroll was fresh and crisp and non-greasy, seemed homemade. Excellent. The eggplant was perfectly prepared and cooked, as was the pork. Delicious. The hot and sour soup was easily one of the best I've had, and I'm always looking for a great hot and sour soup. Coming from downtown Buffalo, we'd been in Williamsville because I had an appointment on Essjay Rd. Afterward, we looked for a place to have lunch before shopping. Finding Golden Hill at 4001 Sheridan Dr. in Amherst was pure serendipity. You can bet, though, that I will visit again after next appointment.
