It was one fine morning when I was looking for some restaurant deal on Groupon. I stumble upon this place that was offering an awesome deal and went with it. I often drive on Maple and this place has never caught my attention. From the outside, the place doesn't look very decorated and is a part of a plaza. We almost drove past this place. The inside is however quite spacious. We were greeted with complimentary wonton chips (I love complimentary snacks). We ordered crab rangoon, ahi tuna, and pecking duck. The pecking duck together with its bread was so delicious. We binge ate all the items, even they were a lot for us. After this, I have been to this place three more times. Tried the imperial flounder feast once. The quantity of their items is enormous. Each of the items can easily be for two people. However, we still order more, since their food is so delicious and the price is just good. I would have given 4.5 if that was an option read more

Good food, friendly staff. The place was clean. Staff found seating even tho we had no reservations. I recommend this place.

I've been here a couple of times and the food leaves something to be desired. It is good at times, but not consistently. The lunch specials are affordable but otherwise the menu items can get a little pricey. Their Americanized Chinese food is what one would expect. It's not Panda Express quality but it's also just not as good as other places in the area. The last time I was here, my boyfriend splurged and ordered us the Peking duck. This was far better than their other dishes and that was a relief. The waiter didn't really understand a lot of the questions we asked but he was still polite and prompt. The drink I ordered, a cherrytini, was delicious. Basically what I discovered is that the further you go into legit Chinese cuisine, the better their food is. read more

The Eastern Pearl - Peking duck - Cantonese Near Me - Buffalo, New York

I usually like Eastern Pearl, and was very excited to try their vegetarian chicken option. I was disappointed to find that they're using a frozen premade breaded chicken. This is very similar to a morning star chickn nugget, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a morning star product. Not what I was expecting or hoping for. I could have easily bought some morning stat products and tossed them in a general tso sauce myself. The breaded texture was not good in this dish. I spend $60 on my order. The lo mein was also brunt tasting :( read more

The Eastern Pearl - General Tso Veggie Chocken - Cantonese Near Me - Buffalo, New York

My husband and I recently dined at Eastern Pearl and found the food to be of good quality. The wonton soup was piping hot and the wontons had a thin layer of dough (just to our liking) as opposed to thick ones that you practically need a knife to cut into. The seafood lo mein was flavorful and contained lots of seafood. Other dishes included lemon chicken and Mongolian beef. Sadly, the egg roll we ordered didn't arrive until after the entrees were served; a mistake from the kitchen. Our waiter was pleasant and hard-working. While they only had one side of the restaurant open, all tables were occupied. read more

Ordered take out and was not disappointed. I waited in the parking lot and paid over the phone and they brought my food out to me. Chicken and veggie mei fun and sesame chicken and sesame shrimp. White rice included. Everything was flavorful and very tasty as usual. Same flavor as if we were dining in, always great food for reasonable prices! read more

Came during a busy night but wasn't the best experience. Food (4/5): I've always liked Eastern Pearl in terms of their food. As one of the only Cantonese-based restaurant, eating here makes me miss my hometown and definitely does a good job with their menu. Definitely get their Roast Duck and Salt and Pepper Pork Chop. Their fish maw soup was a bit bland, same with their fried rice, but their overall menu is pretty solid. I was disappointed with some of the portions though, I remember it being a bit bigger last time I visited here. Service (3/5): Although it was a busy night, it would have been better if they had hired more people knowing that they have an event. The food took quite some time to arrive and it was very hard to get the attention of the waiter/waitresses. One of our order was forgotten too and we ended up just ignoring it because we didn't want to wait that long since all the other food was finished. Price (4/5): Pretty decently priced chinese food. Some items are a bit more expensive but since it's meant for sharing, they are definitely justifiable. Ambiance (4/5): Definitely one of the biggest star of this restaurant is their environment. I love the restaurant decor and they also have lion dance during chinese new year week every year, which makes it really fun to eat here with friends to celebrate the holiday! read more

My first time here (I had ordered take-out previous with disastrous results), I was impressed with the high end decor and the Western lunch menu. But what did I see there? A few dim sum choices! In all of Buffalo, I've only found 3 restaurants that served dim sum, so delighted to find another. I ordered the traditional shiu mai (pork dumplings) and har gow (shrimp dumplings) for lunch. What I liked? The food was fresh. My dumplings were hot out of the steamer. The pasta wrappings for the har gow were a little thick, and the shiu mai was a little plain (no crab roe, mushrooms or anything exotic in the filling, but it was a tasty large portion). My friend ordered from the lunch special menu where you typically chose and get a decent platter with a choice of rice. Service was attentive. The aforementioned decor is sort of a traditional Chinese restaurant with tastefully decorated hardwoods. What I didn't like. We sat in a booth, and I'm not sure why but booths tend to attract people sitting behind me who've decided to kick and rock their seat backs as if we were on an airplane. The woman behind me was doing her best Lord of the Dance imitation until I turned around and they calmed down for a few minutes. Other than that, I was very pleasantly surprised with Eastern Pearl and will be back to try their dinner menu. read more

Went of a Wednesday night with 8 friends. we all ordered different things and not one of us ate our whole meal. The food was bland and greasy. No soy sauce on the table. Terrible service. Not even a fortune cookie to end the meal! I would never recommend this place and urge all others to stay away! This was one of the worst meals I've ever eaten and my friends all agreed! read more

First time dining in at Eastern Pearl. The ambiance was lovely, very calm environment which adds to the dining experience. We had a table of 4, decided to share 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. I would rate the spring rolls good, scallion pancakes were a bit greasy but flavouring was good. The entrees were extremely generous portions. The Mongolian Beef was excellent, perfect spices and beef very tender. And highly recommend the orange chicken. The service was very good and attentive. We each had 2 glasses of wine(generous pours) and our bill with tip was around $130. We were all very pleased and definitely we will go back! I give 4.5 stars read more

Eastern Pearl is a cozy upscale Chinese restaurant with authentic entrees and generous portions. My husband and I enjoyed some wine, then started out with a cup of the hot and sour soup .....the 'cup' is more like a bowl! We had the shrimp egg rolls followed by the Lettice roll-ups.... with chicken/vegetable filling, (served separately) and was sooo delicious! we split an entrée of Sesame Chicken and it was THE BEST. The ambiance is wonderful, and so was the food and service. We'll be back !! read more

I really enjoy coming to Eastern Pearl. Always greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Servers are very attentive. Food is prepared extremely fast and is always fresh and tasty. We had the fried whole chicken. Was good but I have enjoyed other items here more. The chicken fried rice or the broccoli beef are standard choices but very tasty here. The Mongolian Beef was exceptional and would definitely select again. We also had the Rocky shrimp app and those were a standard recipe but the shrimp was tender, quite large and the sauce was plentiful. read more

Wow! What a fabulous meal!!! Fresh and tasty!!! And generous portions! They have an entire GLUTEN FREE menu!!!!! Many many options that you would have thought that you would never be able to ever eat again!!!! I ate a full meal of orange chicken (deep fried in potato starch instead of wheat.... etc... omg! Was so good! AND i did not get I'll as I normally do from eating out at Chinese restaurants which means that they were diligent in the kitchen about keeping things gluten free. read more

Came here with the extended family for Christmas Eve dinner. I expected a lot more. First off why is the menu so limited? Maybe because of the holidays but the selection for an Asian restaurant was very poor. I was expecting American Asian but some of the staples of Bad American Asian like General Tso chicken, Chow Mein and chicken balls were missing off the menu. If this place was trying to be authentic then fine...but none of the dishes we ordered had any authentic taste to them. I know my Chinese food benchmark is very high but I set the bar low and it still didn't hit the low bar. Should have stayed in and just ordered from the other take out Chinese places in the area read more

This place is a real gem! In the suburbs you don't have a lot of choices for an authentic Chinese food sit-down (I still love you & I'm sorry, China King) experience and this is one of them! My family has been coming to this restaurant for years and has never had a bad experience. Not only is the good great but the service rocks as well. When you first sit down, you're served homemade fried wonton strips as soon as you sit - who doesn't love that! I think the highlights for me are the wonton soup and the Singapore chow mei fun. For the soup they use the thin wonton wrappers which is a big bonus to me - I like my wontons doughy but not toooo thick. read more

The pretty interior is the best aspect. The food has been reliably middling. One often feels forgotten by the wait staff.

HUGE portions, Fair Prices, Tasty food! Probably not the first thing you think of when you hear the term "Juicy Buns," but let me tell you that that is ONE yummy menu item! They're a steamed pork filled bao style bun in a dumpling dough, with a little broth inside and they are quite delectable! Restaunt overall has a nice asthetic, I really loved the dark wood with orange and gold accents. It's a casual family atmosphere, but also a good place to take a date! Servers were friendly, and QUICK, the food was fresh, and the place was clean! What more can you ask for? read more

Updated: worse than ever, stringy tough chicken, string beans that were old and linp Not sure what has happened, always said this was the "best" American Chinese in town, ever since 2010. Absolutely delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Food came out extremely quickly and was very hot and obviously all of the vegetables were fresh and cut right before being put into our dishes. The decor is gorgeous inside and the doors to get inside are ornate and let you know you're in for an experience. Everything was clean and again the staff was awesome. I don't think I've ever had an easier or quicker experience at a nice sit down restaurant. This restaurant is quite a ways from where I live but I'd be willing to come back again and not just when I happen to be in the area. read more

Went as an out of towner visiting extended family after looking for good recommendations for family spots. We made a reservation and good thing! - the manager informed us that he was totally booked when we got there. They were so accommodating for us. We have three people who have hearing issues, and were promptly moved from a table right in the thick of the restaurant to a quiet one in the back which was perfect. Very much appreciated. Food was awesome, especially the eastern mango chicken dish. AMAZING. And honestly, so reasonably priced. For 6 people, 2 appetizers, 4 dishes, and 3 alcoholic drinks, it was incredibly reasonable. We loved it and will definitely be back. There's also a dedicated take out desk in the front if you want the great food on the go. Fab. read more

Just had lunch here Friday, shortly before rolling out of new york. I thought it was good, I mean it's cheap chinese food and of good quality. Waiters were polite, bartenders had some entertaining sarcasm, and well, that's it. Good old fashioned chinese food. I had my favored classic, Kung Pao chicken. I'm never completely sure whether they expect you to pronounce it "k-uh-ng" or "k-oon", but it might just be a chinese dialect issue that an english speaking American like myself am unable to get correctly. Nice and spicy, plenty of peanuts, really, I love that. I think I could eat Kung Pao chicken every day of my life if necessary, at least until my digestive tract commits suicide as a result. I'm curious about trying their jellyfish salad and conch entrees, but that will have to wait until another trip up to New York. Seems cool though! read more

One of my family's go-to Cantonese restaurants in Buffalo. Their food is always tasty and pretty authentic. We order their dau miu (seasonal), Peking pork chops, and flounder! If you go for Chinese New year, they also offer Peking duck read more

Super friendly staff, tons of variety, cheap and ridiculous portions. I never leave a restaurant with leftovers, but here I'm lucky if I make it through half my entree. I've tried maybe six different entrees and a lot of their apps, and everything I've had was great. They have an entree that is essentially and entire chicken fried up crispy in a brown garlic sauce that's only like 12 bucks that I love, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Don't forget to ask for their Cantonese menu as well if u want to try something a little different read more

I'm a fan of this place, it's super nice on the inside with plenty of tables! I love when you sit down they bring you these crispy wonton strips with this sweet dip, it's so good! The Crab Rangoon was really good, I recommend! The teriyaki chicken is good, but I wish there wasn't celery in the dish! But that's just a personal preference. The staff is always friendly. The food is consistently good. Best crab rangoons! Would highly recommend.

Great place for a large party. Service was quick while not rushing us out of the building. Food was delicious. Usually a favorite but not tonight. Pork in the egg rolls was off, tasted processed. We shared the majority of one and didn't want to touch the other. Our brown rice was full of mush. Only way to describe it. Didn't taste right at all. The meat in my chicken and broccoli was gummy. We could have saved $70 and made a couple of sandwiches. Pretty sure we're in the market for a new Chinese take out location. read more

We were given a gift certificate for the Eastern Pearl but we had never gone before. We had two adults and a seven year old. The hostess was very friendly - we asked if we had to use the whole gift certificate in one visit and were told that no we could just use part and they would write a balance on it. Our server was also friendly. There were crunchy noodles and sauce to enjoy while browsing the menu. The kids menu was small but that's OK. The regular menu had lots of options and the prices were not bad. Kids meals were $5.95 not including drink. Sodas were $2 each. Desserts were $5.95 each. Entrees ranged from $10 - $25 depending on what you ordered. We ordered the fried dumplings ($5) for an appetizer and they were yummy. I ordered the crispy shredded beef with white rice ($13), my husband ordered the sesame scallops with broccoli and brown rice ($18) and our son ordered the kids "soy spaghetti" which is just lo mein. Everything was delicious. We brought leftovers home of all 3 entrees. We ordered two of the ice cream truffles to split for dessert and those were not bad either - although the peanut butter one could have done without the raspberry sauce. Great place and we will definitely be returning. read more

Very disappointing dinner on New Year's Eve. Server was either very new or ill informed. Didn't know if they had certain items. Didn't tell us ahead of time menu items they were out of. Had to be reminded repeatedly for soda/water refills. Soups were ok, not great. Food was very average. Vegetable Chow Mein had very few vegetables and almost no sauce. When asked to add some sauce, she returned with the plate without the sauce and said,"That's how it's made." Side of fried rice asked for was not delivered, as she claimed it wasn't asked for. Brown rice was dry. I realize it was New Year's Eve, and they were busy, but it wasn't just one thing, it was many. Doubt I'll go back anytime soon. read more

First off- I usually do not bother posting reviews on Yelp unless I love the place. But I want to say to Ryan- Thank you for making our Valentines Day so awesome! We're from Canada and have young kids so we knew we'd be eating dinner in our hotel room. We wanted something special, it's Valentines Day afterall, so we ordered the Peking Duck and extra bao buns(kids love em). We picked it up in a huge container and they even gave us extra scallions and cucumbers! We took it back to the hotel and it was so delicious!!! I was so blown away by the crispy, golden duck that was beautifully sliced as well! We're probably ordering it tomorrow night too. I can't wait. read more

This is our go-to restaurant for Chinese food. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is perfect for a dinner for two or a family gathering. The service is always quick, courteous and attentive to your needs but not overly in your face. If I am craving Peking Duck, this is where you will find the best in Western New York. Their portions are large, so you know you are having lunch or dinner the next day. I have yet to have anything on the menu that I have not thoroughly enjoyed.
