Had a wonderful dinner here on Christmas Eve. Our reservation was for 5pm, by 5:45 the place was packed. The Chow Mei Fun was SO GOOD. The angel hair noodles were delicious with the chicken and vegetables. We also ordered the Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lo Mein, and Moo Goo Gai Pan. No complaints about any of them. However- the servers were overworked. They were understandably busy because it was Christmas Eve, but they did not seem to have enough servers for the crowd. I have eaten here before and really liked it but not this time. I had the lemon chicken and the chicken was dry and the lemon sauce did not have a fresh lemon flavor. The service was very good though. Two things that really bothered me was that we asked for soy sauce and salt and pepper. They were brought to us promptly but the bottle and shakers were sticky and gross. Also in the bathroom the toilet barely flushed and the sink had sitting water in it. I was surprised to see Pad thai on the menu so had to try that. Unfortunately of all the dishes it was my least favorite. It just didn't seem to have much flavor. I'll skip that next time. Based on takeout I've had twice recently, EP is very inconsistent with food quality, hit and miss. Im unsure if they had a different cook working??, or maybe some turnover?? Ive had 2 disappointing take to meals after having much better food in the past. Once I had a stir fry with Harvest egg rolls, unfortunately the egg rolls were under cooked and cold in the middle , one had dough that was partly raw.. A couple days ago I had chicken " Curry" , which wasn't very flavorful and didn't taste like any kind of curry mixes I've had. I'd guess this dish had a liberal amount of Turmeric and some black pepper in it and that was a the extent of EP's "curry" mix. I had 2 shrimp egg rolls with the "curry" that were VERY over cooked, just shy of being burnt . Not sure what was in it. Obviously the cook didn't care very much and sent out crappy looking over done food. Maybe EP can give its cooks vision tests to be sure they can SEE what overcooked food looks like. My husband and I recently ditched the kids for a quiet dine-in night at Eastern Pearl. I haven't been in a while, and used to come every so often for lunch. So our dinner after a hiatus was a bit of a new experience. And I'm pleased to say it was a great experience! My husband and I are both keto'tarian now, so we're both meat'less and low carb / no sugar. Eastern Pearl actually has a great variety of vegetarian tofu dishes to choose from. Sauces get a little iffy as far as sugar goes, but a minor sauce-splurge on occasion shouldn't kill us. One EXCELLENT keto'tarian hack here: the vegetarian lettuce wraps appetizer! Keto is no rice, so we usually just go sans-rice at Asian restaurants. We ordered the lettuce wraps, which were served build-your-own-dismantled style. The innards were a nice small dice of veggies that actually works well as a rice substitute! :-D The dim sum menu also had a yummy friend tofu served with a creamy horseradish dipping sauce. Again I can't be sure on the sugar in the sauce, but since it was not a sweet sauce it probably wasn't off the charts. Wrapping the fried tofu in the lettuce that came for the wraps and dipping in the spicy sauce was delightful! Our main courses were BIG, two tofu dishes from the vegetarian menu. We definitely had leftovers to bring home. They were a bit ginger-heavy for my taste preferences, but my husband had no complaints. Next time I will likely order off of the pick-your-own-protein-and-sauce menu and go with fried tofu and a more basic brown sauce. Prices here were very reasonable for today's standards, too. Most of the dishes we ordered were $10 or $11, with the dim sum tofu just $7. Hot tea is only $1, too! I find that most casual dine-in restaurants are pushing $15 or more per dish, and up-charge on all beverages pushing $3 or more. So the bounty of large portions at a reasonable price and tea for a buck was great! I'm very pleased with the keto'tarian-friendly options at Eastern Pearl, especially the vegetarian-lettuce-wrap-innards-turned-rice hack we invented, ha! I look forward to returning here to try other tofu preparations and other vegetarian dishes. We ordered via UberEats and thought the food was good enough. It was standard Chinese food nothing spectacular which we expected but a 4.6 on UberEats ummmm no. We weren't sent any utensils or napkins which I thought was weird but we did get a little bag with the duck sauce and soy sauce. Crab wontons had very thin wrapper and lots of filling in it, so it depends on what you like if that's good or bad. I thought it was imbalanced so didn't devour as I usually would. Eastern Pearl is one of our go-tos - we may order takeout from there perhaps 2-3 times a month, depending on how lazy we are feeling. The food is consistently good and the portions are extremely generous. For our family of 5, we usually order around 3 dishes, with these being our rotating favorites: - salt and pepper pork chops - crispy and full of flavor, with just a bit of a spicy kick - young chow fried rice - actually really enjoy this staple, good mix of ingredients like roast pork, egg, pork, etc - beef chow fun - generous portions of beef along with soft rice noodles, lots of flavor - sauteed string beans - a good no nonsense vegetable dish that is not slathered in sauce - singamore mei fun - mild curry flavored rice noodles, yummy - sweet and sour pork - crispy pork in tangy sauce We do occasionally eat in restaurant as well, and it has a nice ambience with dark wood and Chinese decor touches. Dining in house, we enjoy the peking duck - it is nice and crispy and so flavorful with sauce, scallions, and nestled in a soft bao bun. Above average Chinese fare in the Northtowns! We got takeout from The Eastern Pearl tonight at the recommendation of my boyfriend. I'm always down to try a new-to-me takeout spot! We opted to start with some steamed pork dumplings, which we both enjoyed a lot. They were light, but still flavorful, and perfectly warm. I wanted something a little on the spicy side, so I went with Kung Po Chicken for my dinner. I was a little let down by the spice level, but the portion size was good and they loaded me up with good vegetables. They gave us a nice-sized serving of white rice to go with our meals, too, there is a ton sitting in our fridge leftover now! The prices are very reasonable here, and our takeout experience was quick and easy. They have a whole traditional Cantonese section of their menu I'd love to try someday in the future, too. If you need dependable Chinese or Cantonese takeout in the Maple Road area, Eastern Pearl is a great contender! read more

Service leads a lot to be desired, but the place has a pretty decent menu with lots of interesting items. Our server didn't seem too well versed on the menu and they were a little busy when we came in so things took a while, but overall the experience left me a fan. The ambiance is quite nice too. We ordered the double twice cooked pork, peking duck, steamed whole fish, fried rice w/seafood and shumai dumplings. Unfortunately, all the dumplings are cooked from frozen, although the shumai dumplings are made in house. They are tasty and definitely recommended. The Peking Duck was delicious and served with steamed buns, hoisin sauce and greens. I thought duck had nice flavor. The whole steamed fish in ginger sauce was a little disappointing. While the fish was large, it could have used more seasoning. The actual meat of the fish had little flavor, despite swimming in the ginger sauce. The Double Twice Cooked Pork I thought was delicious with great crispiness and flavor, most at my table called it "forgettable," (I respectfully disagree) and while the rice was suspiciously addicting, many at my table remained suspicious of potential MSG additives in the rice for flavoring. Jury is out, but their suspicion was enough to keep me away from grabbing the uneaten portion to go. All in all, I'd recommend trying it out for a nice dinner. read more

A male customer here that was feastin' Saw my Barbie come in and she teased him But did not grant his wishes Just got 5 homestyle dishes And declared "the best pearl is the Eastern!" The Eastern Pearl is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants out there in Western New York and in Upstate New York in general. They have Americanized dishes which are pretty good but I skip those personally, and then they have really good homestyle Chinese (mostly Cantonese) stuff with excellent expert cooking and delicious tastes across the board. Ignore those like Hal and his sketchy 2-star review for the American Chinese... that's not what you come here for (even though some of it is tasty). Come here for Cantonese heaven! So many dishes are good here that I don't even know where to start. I've had a lot of different stuff and everything blew me away. The Peking Duck and some of the authentic noodle dishes are particularly amazing. I was in jail in China for awhile. When I got let out (conditionally), it was known as "The Eastern Parole." I immediately came here for dinner. Like I said, this place is run by absolute angels - who also help run KFT (the only real Taiwanese Boba in New York State outside NYC). I know that they're nice to their customers, and that's a good thing and other businesses should learn from that, but there's being nice, and then there's going way above and beyond. On Thanksgiving, since they knew I'd be spending it alone, they invited me to their Thanksgiving dinner, for employees only, over at KFT. The food, of course, was partially provided by Eastern Pearl, and was absolutely delicious. The company meant a lot to me. It's where you realize that people are not just people you buy things from, but actually your friends. Also, whereas the majority of people in WNY were like "oh cool you're a citizen now, well done", not realizing how arduous, long, stressful and intense the whole thing was, this lovely establishment gave me a "Citizenship Congrats" gift certificate for Eastern Pearl, which meant the world to me too. You have to check out their authentic Cantonese dishes, they have a huge menu full of them, and they're so, so good - and the real thing - but in order to see them on the Yelp menu, scroll past the endless American choices to the bottom third of the menu. So 5 stars for having great food, wonderful owners, good prices, and an exciting homestyle Cantonese menu which I love exploring. I have enjoyed eating at The Eastern Pearl many times over the years. My go to entree is Walnut Shrimp, an absolutely delicious dish made up of large tender battered shrimp, candied walnuts and steamed broccoli with a creamy sauce. I've tried this dish in other places throughout my travels and no one does it as well as The Eastern Pearl. Their large menu has a huge assortment of sumptuous dishes. Their service is impeccable and the ambiance is peaceful and quiet. We have plenty of restaurants serving Asian food in the area but this one is my favorite. I think I would give this place 3.5 stars. We ordered Chicken with snow peas, Chicken lo mein, Crispy shredded beef, and Scallion pancake for delivery and overall the food wasn't bad. The Crispy shredded beef didn't really taste like beef though, and the scallion pancake was a little overcooked. We asked for Asian-spicy, but unfortunately, the food wasn't anywhere near spicy. Disappointing food at dinner tonight. Scallion pancakes were damp and oily. Spring roll okay. Hot and sour soup flavorless. The jumbo tempura shrimp with walnuts came covered with a strange sweet cream sauce on top that I've never seen on Chinese food, and again no flavor. The Ma Pao Tofu was barely room temperature and flavorless. Service was friendly but haphazard (waitress didn't bring serving spoons with the food, nor a soup spoon with the soup, nor knives). Our server, a very nice, also friendly and professional gent, took care of of us as best he could. The restaurant was busy, and short-staffed. He hustled! He had forgotten a couple of things along the way, but more than made up for that. Again, understaffed. The food was fantastic! From the appetizers to the entrees, all were expertly cooked. Let me start off by saying I rarely dine-in at Chinese restaurants unless it's buffet style which is like once every other year so I'm comparing this experience with take-out and buffets so keep that in mind. I came here for Christmas dinner with the fam. Immediately impressed with the large space and decor and what appeared to be a fully stocked bar. The bartender was wearing a scantily clad Santa outfit that made the evening even more enjoyable since the bar was directly in my view. :D Anyway, food was beyond delicious. They served the table with fried wonton chips and duck sauce which we devoured and requested refills of. We ordered the scallion pancakes, steamed pork dumplings, general tsos chicken, and vegetable lo mein. Everything was above expectation except the dumplings which were more like pot stickers and way more dough to filling ratio and poorly seasoned. The lo mein had a smokey flavor I never experienced before which wowed all of us with plenty of fresh sautéed veggies. The chicken was tender yet crispy without being overly breaded. They also offered choice of white or brown rice at no additional charge. Phenomenal. To top off an already amazing experience our bill was only $38 and change before tip. Family of 4 with leftovers for less than $40?! Can't beat that and cheaper than a buffet. This is a 2.5-star review, but to be nice, I am rounding up to three stars. We had Eastern Pearl via delivery, and after eating our food, I can say with assurance that I do not understand the stellar reviews. Where they lost us were the General Tso's chicken and pork egg rolls. For starters, the General Tso had *jalapeños* as the accent pepper that was a WTF fusion we did not ask to be subjected to. Red chili peppers? Sure. Jalapeños? Hard pass, and very different. The pork egg rolls tasted very old, had a vinegar-y after taste -- with rotty undertones -- and long strips of vegetables that should've been cut much better. The restaurant itself is well decorated and large. The portions are really big and I felt the prices were reasonable. The only issue we faced while there was food came out different times, but we had a large group. My grandma really liked the flowers they made and put on top of the dishes and they gave her two flowers in to go boxes on the way out! It was incredibly nice of the staff to do. Amazing local Chinese food with a very large and beautiful restaurant inside that has their own bar as well. Everything from the appetizers and entrées tasted very fresh. The chicken especially has a really rich sauce that mixes well into the meat. The pork was very soft and juicy which is always a favorite of ours that mixes well with a side of green beans.
