Had a wonderful dinner here on Christmas Eve. Our reservation was for 5pm, by 5:45 the place was packed. The Chow Mei Fun was SO GOOD. The angel hair noodles were delicious with the chicken and vegetables. We also ordered the Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lo Mein, and Moo Goo Gai Pan. No complaints about any of them. However- the servers were overworked. They were understandably busy because it was Christmas Eve, but they did not seem to have enough servers for the crowd. Our dishes were never cleared and we had to ask multiple times for drink refills.

Noodles as soon as you sit down to the table with a lovely orange duck sauce

It's been several years since we were here last. The place has improved dramatically. The food and service were both excellent. Menu choices were creative and varied. For appetizers, we had the cold sesame noodles and the steamed dumplings. The seafood delight was artistically, presented, and nicely seasoned. A bit pricey, but we don't mind when the food and service are excellent as it was here tonight. This is a higher end Chinese restaurant, and we will be back.

Lemon chicken

I have eaten here before and really liked it but not this time. I had the lemon chicken and the chicken was dry and the lemon sauce did not have a fresh lemon flavor. The service was very good though. Two things that really bothered me was that we asked for soy sauce and salt and pepper. They were brought to us promptly but the bottle and shakers were sticky and gross. Also in the bathroom the toilet barely flushed and the sink had sitting water in it. Not going back till I hear things have improved!

This is the first time getting take out from here. I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Ordering was easy, the staff was very friendly and helpful. My order was ready even sooner then they originally told me. The food tasted great and the portions were very generous. I will definately be ordering from here again.

Chicken pad thai

So after being housebound due to an injury and enjoying my husband's cooking we decided to give him a break and get take out from Eastern Pearl. We ordered a variety of dishes. I was surprised to see Pad thai on the menu so had to try that. Unfortunately of all the dishes it was my least favorite. It just didn't seem to have much flavor. I'll skip that next time. On the other hand, everything else was excellent. The szechuan chicken was loaded with flavors and the perfect amount of heat. I loved the crunchiness of the cabbage in the moo shu pork. Overall, a very good meal. 2022-64

The Eastern Pearl is a little hidden gem. Whenever I go (I must be lucky) it's always on the slower side and I've never had to wait. The food and service is always good and quick.

Update on my previous review! Upon eating my leftovers I found I piece of metal in my wonton soup. It appears to be a piece of a metal sponge. Not a pleasant surprise. I will give this place another try but I will eat with caution

Sneak-away early dinner with the hubbs, all keto and vegetarian friendly. :-D

My husband and I recently ditched the kids for a quiet dine-in night at Eastern Pearl. I haven't been in a while, and used to come every so often for lunch. So our dinner after a hiatus was a bit of a new experience. And I'm pleased to say it was a great experience! My husband and I are both keto'tarian now, so we're both meat'less and low carb / no sugar. Eastern Pearl actually has a great variety of vegetarian tofu dishes to choose from. Sauces get a little iffy as far as sugar goes, but a minor sauce-splurge on occasion shouldn't kill us. One EXCELLENT keto'tarian hack here: the vegetarian lettuce wraps appetizer! Keto is no rice, so we usually just go sans-rice at Asian restaurants. We ordered the lettuce wraps, which were served build-your-own-dismantled style. The innards were a nice small dice of veggies that actually works well as a rice substitute! :-D The dim sum menu also had a yummy friend tofu served with a creamy horseradish dipping sauce. Again I can't be sure on the sugar in the sauce, but since it was not a sweet sauce it probably wasn't off the charts. Wrapping the fried tofu in the lettuce that came for the wraps and dipping in the spicy sauce was delightful! Our main courses were BIG, two tofu dishes from the vegetarian menu. We definitely had leftovers to bring home. They were a bit ginger-heavy for my taste preferences, but my husband had no complaints. Next time I will likely order off of the pick-your-own-protein-and-sauce menu and go with fried tofu and a more basic brown sauce. Prices here were very reasonable for today's standards, too. Most of the dishes we ordered were $10 or $11, with the dim sum tofu just $7. Hot tea is only $1, too! I find that most casual dine-in restaurants are pushing $15 or more per dish, and up-charge on all beverages pushing $3 or more. So the bounty of large portions at a reasonable price and tea for a buck was great! I'm very pleased with the keto'tarian-friendly options at Eastern Pearl, especially the vegetarian-lettuce-wrap-innards-turned-rice hack we invented, ha! I look forward to returning here to try other tofu preparations and other vegetarian dishes. Whether we can make it a sneak-away date night, or have the kids in tow, the reasonable prices make it feasible. Thanks Eastern Pearl!

Shrimp and K. Shrimp with Broccoli

We ordered via UberEats and thought the food was good enough. It was standard Chinese food nothing spectacular which we expected but a 4.6 on UberEats ummmm no. We weren't sent any utensils or napkins which I thought was weird but we did get a little bag with the duck sauce and soy sauce. Crab wontons had very thin wrapper and lots of filling in it, so it depends on what you like if that's good or bad. I thought it was imbalanced so didn't devour as I usually would. The shrimp on lo mein and shrimp & broccoli dish werent deveined, again I'm just mentioning as each person has their own preference.

L. Kung Po Chicken

Above average Chinese fare in the Northtowns! We got takeout from The Eastern Pearl tonight at the recommendation of my boyfriend. I'm always down to try a new-to-me takeout spot! We opted to start with some steamed pork dumplings, which we both enjoyed a lot. They were light, but still flavorful, and perfectly warm. I wanted something a little on the spicy side, so I went with Kung Po Chicken for my dinner. I was a little let down by the spice level, but the portion size was good and they loaded me up with good vegetables. They gave us a nice-sized serving of white rice to go with our meals, too, there is a ton sitting in our fridge leftover now! The prices are very reasonable here, and our takeout experience was quick and easy. They have a whole traditional Cantonese section of their menu I'd love to try someday in the future, too. If you need dependable Chinese or Cantonese takeout in the Maple Road area, Eastern Pearl is a great contender!

Steamed whole flounder

Service leads a lot to be desired, but the place has a pretty decent menu with lots of interesting items. Our server didn't seem too well versed on the menu and they were a little busy when we came in so things took a while, but overall the experience left me a fan. The ambiance is quite nice too. We ordered the double twice cooked pork, peking duck, steamed whole fish, fried rice w/seafood and shumai dumplings. Unfortunately, all the dumplings are cooked from frozen, although the shumai dumplings are made in house. They are tasty and definitely recommended. The Peking Duck was delicious and served with steamed buns, hoisin sauce and greens. I thought duck had nice flavor. The whole steamed fish in ginger sauce was a little disappointing. While the fish was large, it could have used more seasoning. The actual meat of the fish had little flavor, despite swimming in the ginger sauce. The Double Twice Cooked Pork I thought was delicious with great crispiness and flavor, most at my table called it "forgettable," (I respectfully disagree) and while the rice was suspiciously addicting, many at my table remained suspicious of potential MSG additives in the rice for flavoring. Jury is out, but their suspicion was enough to keep me away from grabbing the uneaten portion to go. All in all, I'd recommend trying it out for a nice dinner.

Almost, almost showing me eastern pearly whites.

We did take out and the food was excellent. I had the shrimp and broccoli, my husband had the Szechuan chicken. Both were very good.

I was seated and immediately served complimentary tea, and fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce. I ordered the Kung Pao lunch special which comes with a choice of egg roll or soup, and white or vegetable friend rice. I chose the wonton soup and fried rice, and I ordered an egg roll as well. The egg roll came out quickly, and the lunch special was served right when I finished that. The food was good and the dish was spicy (Kung Pao is supposed to be spicy but it never is-- not for me) and the service was polite. When the check came it was accompanied by a plate with two slices of orange and a fortune cookie. The only thing I didn't like about the visit was that there was an advertisement for a big commercial law firm on the back of the fortune slip and the "lucky number" was the phone number. I thought that was tacky. I walked out at 1:15pm. Great, quick lunch.

Nice people, good food, pleasant atmosphere: because I can never decide which is more important,…read morethey are equally important factors when rating a restaurant. Golden Hill has all three. And a lunch menu. Wow! I just gave my receipt another look and the people are nicer than I thought. I thought they were pleasant, friendly, happy we were there, concerned that we would enjoy our visit. The lunch menu offerings were each $10.95 and included eggroll OR soup, and white or vegetable fried rice. Daughter ordered the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus an appetizer order of steamed dumplings. I ordered Eggplant with Pork in Garlic sauce with eggroll and white rice, plus a small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup. The soup on the appetizer menu was $3.95. My receipt shows the server put the soup as my lunch choice and charged $2.95 for the eggroll. She never said a word, didn't point out that I could save a dollar by switching the sides around. So the people are all I thought plus kind and conscientious. Marvelous. I was delighted with everything I ate. The entree was enough for two, so supper came home with me. The eggroll was fresh and crisp and non-greasy, seemed homemade. Excellent. The eggplant was perfectly prepared and cooked, as was the pork. Delicious. The hot and sour soup was easily one of the best I've had, and I'm always looking for a great hot and sour soup. Coming from downtown Buffalo, we'd been in Williamsville because I had an appointment on Essjay Rd. Afterward, we looked for a place to have lunch before shopping. Finding Golden Hill at 4001 Sheridan Dr. in Amherst was pure serendipity. You can bet, though, that I will visit again after next appointment.

I've been just settling with it at other places so this was an exciting discovery! We also ordered sesame shrimp. It wasn't like other sesame dishes we've gotten. It was a pink sauce that was similar to sweet and sour, but it was very good and the shrimp were large and plump and cooked perfectly. We tried their fried dough just on a whim and it's like nothing I've had before... it's a nice little add on for $3.50. They have American Chinese and also authentic dishes, which is fun.
