I want to WOK and ROLL like I did back in the day and this storefront Chinese establishment did it's best to bring back the good old days!! It's a small pleasant dining room with traditional Chinese instrumental music playing in the background. I spotted the lineup of fried noodles in their classic red plastic basket up on the counter with duck sauce in plastic ramekins. Ahh memories The lunch menu has the biggest throw back ... prices from decades ago so you will be getting a bargain if you stop in for lunch or take your lunch to go. Service is pleasant but a bit slow (They were dealing with takeout orders I think.) but I was in no rush and the music was calming to the spirit. Their Hot and Sour soup was thick with ingredients, flavorfully pleasant, and served at the right temperature. My Szechuan Chicken has eye appeal and it was served with a hill of rice. It's always good when the vegetables crunch and these did. Their sauce was tasty and my lunch was really good. My fortune cookie reminded me to take moments to find joy and as the music plays I am glad I stopped in because the world seems far away, the food was good, and I am at peace even though I would have loved to get on my feet to wok and roll!! Friends were here from out of town and wanted to order take out Chinese. Naturally we went to Wok & Roll. Normally we'd order various dishes to share. Today we went with the dinner specials that come with your choice of rice & and egg roll. The others in my party ordered sesame chicken, General Tso chicken, and beef & broccoli. They all seemed to enjoy their choices. I ordered Kung Po chicken but received a dish loaded with veggies but no chicken. It tasted ok but was disappointed to not get what I ordered. The best takeout Chinese food we have eaten so far in WNY! The food was refined, tasty, well seasoned but not too salty or oily, and being vegetarians we appreciated the large amount of vegetables in each of the dishes. It could have been spicier but still great tasting. We had the Curry Tofu (appeared to be in a coconut sauce), General Tso's Tofu (with extra sauce on the side), Sesame Tofu (comes on a bed of broccoli), vegetable Tofu, and Vegetable LoMein. The only negative was the LoMein which was a little too oily for our taste and not too many vegetables. Rice was well made and dinner came with fortune cookies. Quantity was adequate but not as much as you get in other takeout places. This is a nice dine-in. Restaurant and not just a takeout place. We will be back!!!! So my wife wanted to do something different for Christmas Day, so we decided to try out this place since it was close to home. I did not expect a $13 plate of beef and broccoli to fill me up as much as it did but we definitely got our money's worth! The food in general is good, reasonably priced, and good sized portions. The Szechuan chicken was good, I would probably get it again. The chicken seems good quality, as well as veggies and the sauce is good too. The beef with onions had excellent flavor, the beef seemed to be of lower quality. The fried dumplings were pretty standard, thin wrapper pork dumplings. They were mediocre, much better dumplings at other local restaurants within 5 mins. If you're looking for solid Chinese takeout, look no further than Wok & Roll! Wok & Roll has two menus: more Americanized, "classic" Chinese takeout, and a traditional Cantonese menu. I've never tried any of their Cantonese foods, but the pork buns are calling my name, so I'll have to try them sometime! Tonight we ordered what my boyfriend would describe as a Gilmore Girls style takeout dinner: lots of yummy eats from their menu so we could have lunch and dinner for tomorrow too! I got the crab Rangoon and chicken and broccoli. The crab Rangoon were crispy and delicious! The sauce that comes with them is a must too. I also enjoyed my chicken and broccoli but my one small complaint is that the dish was super broccoli heavy and only had a small amount of chicken. Regardless, the sauce was tasty and the meal as a whole was delicious. I wish Wok & Roll was closer to where we lived because I think it would easily be my regular Chinese takeout spot! Stopped in a few nights ago for some takeout and got Wonton Soup, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, a few egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce on the side for dipping because I prefer it over packets of duck sauce, Kung Po Chicken, Pepper Steak w/ $3 extra meat because my husband likes the flavor of the red and green bell peppers but he won't eat them. His dish is literally white rice and saucy meat, lol. Ah, husbands!! Everything was great and the service was super friendly as always. And we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. YUM!! I used to work around the area and loved it when wok & roll opened up. It's nice and clean inside with quite a bit of seating, definitely a change of scenery from the typical Chinese takeout joints around Buffalo. It's pretty busy during the week at lunch time, and while the service and speed can vary, the food is always good. It's a bit pricier than the typical Chinese takeout places but the quality of their food (especially meats) are totally worth it. Plus, they do offer some amazing lunch specials during the week. My go-to dish is the mooshu chicken with brown rice, but I've ordered other items such as black pepper beef, sesame chicken, general tso's chicken, fried/steamed dumplings, various Chinese vegetables, etc. and enjoyed them all. I also love how flexible they are with making your food - less oil, light on the sauce/salt... etc. They offer a dim sum menu and bubble tea on weekends which I've never tried before since I don't live in the area so I'm never around on weekends, but I plan to check that out sometime in the future when the restaurants open back up again! read more

While I've had worse this was not the best either. Higher end of average I'd say. Although I found the dish a little greasy and the eggplant was pretty mushy, the saving grace was that the flavor was really good. A little sweetness and a nice touch of heat. We have tried different Chinese takeout places in the past and have been going to what was our favorite place for a while but it is a longer drive. Though the food is just as good and comparably priced, it is a shorter drive. We're going to continue to choose Wok & Roll for now. I got the chicken eggplant with white rice while my fiancé got the General Tao's chicken. We also got a side of fried dumplings to share. The food was absolutely delicious and came out piping hot! I'm secretly a geek, so I liked the silly intro from last time, so I'm gonna keep it: Captain Kirk says there are only two people on the planet who can really get under his skin. One is this one dude on the STAR TREK OFFICIAL FORUMS who just constantly posts hate-rants against Kirk and says that Kirk has STDs. The other is his good friend, Leonard Nimoy. This restaurant is named after the 2 people that annoy Kirk. Spock & Troll. What to order: Chicken w Eggplant, or anything from the home style Chinese menu. What else: Honeydew Bubble Tea on weekends, and custard buns are ok. So to speak. And: Forget the Chinese American menu. When I reviewed this place awhile ago, it was based on their mediocre Americanized Chinese food. Which remains mediocre. However, since then, I discovered that they have an extensive Chinese menu as well. It's not as stellar as some of the local rivals (China King is much cheaper and slightly better, while Peking Quick One, Gin Gin and Mandarin Garden are all a little better too), but it's easily a 5-star worthy authentic Chinese menu with some real treats. My fave dish is probably the Chicken Eggplant. It's delicious, although the Mandarin one on the Boulevard is significantly better, and less sweet. Also, it used to be in a much bigger container than they have been serving it in the last few times, although the price didn't change. My 2nd fave dish is the Beef with Onion. It's delicious and well-spiced and worth a try. This is also from the authentic Chinese menu. The Chicken w/ Ginger and Garlic is tasty, but the chicken has lots of bones in it (because it's authentic) and not as much chicken, so be warned. The Chicken w/ Eggplant on the other hand, is boneless chicken fillets. Shrimp in Chili sauce (or anything in Chili sauce here) is way too sweet and syrupy. The Congee here is pretty good, on a level with the Congee up at Dancing Chopsticks on UB North Campus, I'd say. The dumplings are good here but not amazing. I don't know why other reviewers are raving as if they are the pinnacle of the dumpling world. But they're not bad. The Fried ones at both Home Taste and Peking Quick One are significantly better. By the way if you are 12 years old, and you and your 12 year old friends all get dumped by your gfs/bfs, then you become "Dump-lings." True story. The fried rice option as a side is good to mix it up a bit and make your meal a little tastier and heavier, but getting white rice with your meal is both more authentic, and somewhat healthier. In China, food on this menu would only ever be served with white rice. I've tried their "custard bun dessert" (and posted a pic of them that looks like boobies and did I mention I like boobies). I didn't love them, but my bestie did. I accidentally ate part of the wrapper (lol) and a fellow Yelper pointed that out to me when she saw the pic of it (which I have posted a picture of also, so you can make fun of me). Every Saturday and Sunday (but never on weekdays), they have Bubble Tea. It's actually really good! A little watery, but the milk tea and taro flavours are decent for sure. Their Honeydew Flavour is actually excellent, and is beloved by not only myself, but all of the Honeydew lovers at my house. So if you like Bubble Tea, give the Honeydew a try on a weekend. The main negative for me is the service. Some of the servers are extremely friendly (the younger ones). The older female who works here and - I think - owns the place, was noticeably unfriendly to me on a few occasions. Not only that, but she rings up people who have already finished their dinner (dine in) before me, who was at the register first, waiting to be rung up for a hot to-go order that is sitting right in front of me going cold. Maybe she read my negative review a few years ago. Still, I'm not someone to let questionable service get in the way of a good rating, and the food and bubble tea here deserve - just about - a 5 star rating. read more

This place is hidden in a plaza on Sheridan drive so I can understand why I've never seen it before, but thanks to Yelp I found it and glad I did! A very relaxing atmosphere, nicely decorated with Chinese decor. Service was very good, friendly server and food came out quick and piping hot! I got General Tso chicken in a lunch combo with vegetable fried rice and an egg roll ($0.75 extra to sub for soup). Ample servings of chicken and rice and both were very, very good as was the egg roll. My wife got broccoli and garlic sauce in a lunch combo with soup and an egg roll. Having sampled a couple bites of her broccoli and the soup I can say that was also very, very good. As for the price, very affordable ($21 for both).
