The technicians arrived right on schedule. They were extremely courteous and I asked them to explain the process before they began. The cleaning was thorough as they meticulously went through each vent and the main duct system. As expected there was a slight smell when starting the furnace back up (not dissimilar to how it might smell after being off all summer) but that cleared up quickly. We haven't had them cleaned in the 12 years we've been here (I know, I know...) but I really expected them to be worse. They even replaced the filters on the furnace (I provided them). The pricing was reasonable and comparable to similar services. It took about 3 hours for a 3k sq ft house. We also had them clean out the dryer vent.

He first asked me questions to see if I really needed his services. Per my answers, he really didn't see an issue. But I made an appointment just to make sure. John was super nice and answered all of my questions. The outside vent cover was super old and brittle and he replaced it. I was watching everything he was doing so I could learn. He pointed out some things to keep an eye out for, but with my setup he said that I should never need service. And if anyone said so, he'd be skeptical. I told him that's why I had his number in my phone. He provided a lot of value with the information he was sharing with me. Trustworthy and all around nice guy. I highly recommend his services.

They showed us how the negative air machine works and the filter they use in the negative air machine before - and after carefully exiting with the dirty ones. Later we were able to inspect them outside! There were playing cards, a pine cone, and a massive, disgusting amount of dust/grime among other things. They uploaded a bunch of before and after pictures of the ducts along with the invoice and sent an email after they left. I called on a Tuesday, and they were able to fit me within two weeks. The office staff clearly explained the pricing structure (which was fixed based on the size of the house, with optional add-ons like dryer vent cleaning) and sent a confirmation text the day before. The technicians, Andreas & Cody, called me 50 minutes before arrival, right arrived pretty close to the promised time. I knew there was construction down the street so I figured they would be delayed due to stopped traffic. The two arrived in a well-marked truck and was immediately professional. They took time to explain the negative pressure vacuum system they use, which involved hooking up a large hose to the main duct trunk near the furnace. They wore boot covers inside the house, which I appreciated. The cleaning itself involved systematically sealing off all registers and then using powerful air whips into each vent to agitate and loosen all the debris. They showed me the incredible amount of dirt, dust, and junk they removed from the main trunk--it was genuinely shocking and visually compelling. When finished with the vents they took on the dryer. The lint cleaned out of the vent and the filter was surprising. I expect the drying cycles will be quicker with a clean system. The entire process took approximately 5 hours. Once finished, they sealed up the access holes they created cleanly. There were only two rooms where they forgot to move furniture back in place. The immediate difference was significant: the air in the house feels fresher and less "stuffy," and the HVAC system runs noticeably quieter. I am confident that the removal of years of dust and allergens will benefit our household, especially during allergy season. Better Air Northwest delivered exactly what they promised: professional service, clear communication, and excellent results. While inspecting the ducting, they discovered a section that needed to be fixed. My home warranty would cover that fix, but only if I use their approved contractor. So I couldn't have J&M Services fix the duct nor clean the ducting that day. They ended up only charging me for the dryer vent cleaning that they were able to complete that day. Called this company on 6/13/26 for a weekend AC repair since my regular HVAC company doesn't work…read moreSaturdays. AC repair itself was fine, but the technician then insisted on a "safety inspection" of my furnace (installed 2013), scoped the heat exchanger, and claimed he found pinholes and a crack. He shut off the gas, placed a "repairs needed" red tag on the unit, and immediately pivoted to a sales pitch for a full furnace/AC replacement, including financing rates. He also said he was required to report the finding to a state gas regulator -- not accurate for Oregon. Unconvinced, I had Deluxe Heating & Cooling (the company that originally installed my furnace) come out the following week for a second opinion. Their borescope inspection found zero pinholes and zero cracks. A flame displacement test and combustion analysis also came back completely clean. I'm filing complaints with the BBB and the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB). If you use this company for a diagnostic, I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing any major repair or replacement work.

The return job was completed somewhat satisfactorily. When they returned to complete the job, the owner kept making statements about me updating the review to 5 stars in exchange for coming back and completing the original job. Read the 4 star review on here, as it was the same with that person as it was with us. Just like everyone elses negative reviews the Groupon is a bait and switch. They came to our house told us everything was very dirty and that everything will need to be brushed no vacuumd so our Groupon was worthless. $450 for a half done job(see pictures of AFTER the original work was done). We requested a detailed invoice of the service and when we didn't receive it I called to find out what the delay was. The person I spoke to just kept reiterating the same thing over and over. How dirty everything was and how they cleaned it and I was to prove to him where it was still dirty. Mind you he was looking at this very same review while on the phone. The last red flag that is they only take venmo AND it goes to a private individual under the name Marlene Gomez Perez. Please do not use this company.
