My furnace had basically reached the end of its lifecycle and the technician, John, gave an honest recommendation to replace the unit vs. hope that repairs could prolong use until inevitable replacement came due. Furnace replacement would likely save more money in the long run, so we went forward with replacement. Within 30 minutes after final installation and testing, the new furnace stopped working. I immediately texted John, who trekked back to my house and proceeded to spend hours diagnosing the issue. He was so dedicated that it was 10:30 pm (long after they closed for the day) before we decided to call it a night and try again. The next time he showed up, he brought a manufacturer's rep to help diagnose the problem. While the installation had followed the manufacturer's instructions step-by-step, some random condition (that wasn't in the manual) caused the malfunction. Thank goodness I saw the sticker on my furnace for Midway Heating Company - who'd serviced it years before, because they gave me a free quote and charged me $500 less. They offered to fix the furnace for $600 but it was 30+ years old and high time it was replaced. Better now, when the air-conditioning quit working, than in the winter when the heat would go kaput. Because of the unusually hot weather, they were swamped and could not come out for 3 weeks, but when they did, they did a fantastic job. In fact, they got the job done 3 days early and made arrangements to do so with my tenant - unbeknownst to me. Before making a large purchase like this, always get quotes. The $585 less that Midway is a lot of money to save!

We asked for a specific heat pump model with the new R32 refrigerant, but the two other contractors put an old model in the estimate. 2Brothers was also the most reasonable price-wise. And we couldn't have been happier with them. We wanted to take advantage of the Oregon Heat Pump Purchase Program that had just been launched. They weren't participating yet, but after we asked about it, Lisa, who runs the office, filed the papers, and we were able to get the $2,000 rebate. Beyond that, Charlie, the brother, who does the estimates; Casey, the brother who does the installation along with Max; and Lisa (they make up the entire company) were all professional and pleasant to deal with. They were aggressively RUDE and dismissive---enter Darrin with Integrated Air Solution! With a brief phone call and trouble shooting call ($185) Darrin had a good handle on the problem. He gave us a quote to come back and fix/further trouble shoot the issue. Our GC agreed to pay and in less than 2 hours Darrin had our AC up and blowing cold air again! He explained everything he found and what was NOT done properly by Air Quality and how he fixed their (terrible) work.
