I had used Clawson for regular service for a couple years. When they had a 2 week wait and my HVAC went out at first I was concerned. Turns out this was the best thing that could happen. Upon the new company arriving they did an examination and noted there was an air filter that Clawson had never told me existed. It was apparent that they never changed it. He described it that the filter has a lifetime of dust. He said it looked as if it had never been changed in the life of the unit. I was so disappointed. They had never told me my ducts were dirty, never shown me my outside filter, and the place they put a filter inside didn't need it!! Why pay for the preventative maintenance program if it means nothing and they do not even clean and examine the unit? When I tried to call, the "answering service" picked up and would not even connect me to the office. I left a message but of course was never called back. Very disappointed I spent all that money and was totally taken advantage of. The repair due to their negligence was 1,000 dollars. Safe to say I am never using them again. read more

Our heating bill was enormous last January and our former heating company didn't give us satisfactory service, so on the recommendation of a friend I called Clawson Heating. Phil Johnson came out right away to help us figure out what was the problem. Not only did he give us detailed and educational information and a fair estimate, he also told us that our heat pump hadn't even been installed to code and was getting to the end of its economic life. By this time, in the middle of our extreme cold spell, we didn't dare run our old heat pump because our heating bill would have been so high (over $800/month the way the old heat pump was working). Yikes! In the end, we decided to get a new unit. Yes, it was a huge expense, but we really had no other choice. Carly Moore and Phil did everything they could to get us a new unit because except for a couple of space heaters, we were without heat for over a month in the extreme cold. Clawson's put us on a priority basis; supply chain issues weren't their fault. Finally, in March. we were able to get our new heat pump installed. Tyler Hanefeld and his crew got here early in the morning, and stayed until after dark getting everything working right. The crew cleaned everything up, and left things clean as a whistle. Everything is now working flawlessly and our heating bill went 'way down. I only have the highest praise for everyone at Clawson's. Their responsiveness, friendliness, work ethic, and customer service is outstanding. I don't have enough superlatives when it comes to reviewing this company. Pretty disappointed. I know Clawson has great reviews, which is why I had them service my furnace a few years back, and why I am giving 2 rather than 1 star. My furnace stopped working in February so I had a tech come take a look. He seemed confused and uncertain, and kept mentioning needing diagnostics from the office to help figure it out. I was charged for a service as well quoted for a new igniter and control board, but told there's no promise it will resolve my issue and I may actually need a new furnace. Then it was explained how old the furnace was as well the bad condition it was in. I was also told those components needed to be ordered and there was some lead time, so I'd be without heat for a bit. I rounded up electric and indoor propane heaters for the house and really jacked up my electric bill in the meantime. What I ended up getting after the weekend was communication from Clawson, trying to set up a visit to provide quotes for a brand new furnace. I also learned the parts were not ordered, which was in conflict with the tech telling me they'd be ordered asap. But the end result was we were being told that we'd need a new furnace. I decided to reach out to another company who was the actual installer of the furnace years ago. 10 minutes in and the diagnosis was complete...the relay switch was tripped off and needed to be turned back on. The tech not only was surprised the guy at Clawson didn't notice it right away, but also showed me how to turn it back on if it happened again. This other company saved us thousands in a new furnace with a simple, cheap solution. Not to mention I burned a lot of money in using space heaters while expecting Clawson was best taking care of me. I called to report the situation and was told the service manager would reach out to me, but I never received a call from Clawson. I used Clawson about 18 years ago to put in a new furnace at my home, then just recently to do ductless mini-splits at my business. These guys are amazing from beginning to end. Not the cheapest, but competitive, and I'd take high quality and professionalism over cheapest any day. Matt, the project coordinator, was so helpful and explained the project and limitations well, without assuming I was an idiot. I never felt condescended to by any of the crew. They were all friendly, on-time, unrushed, etc. Shamar was part of my installation crew, and he was the real MVP for my project...he was so good at explaining things to me, patient, friendly and with such a sweet and present disposition. They answered my call and Angel on the phone is very friendly and nice to talk to. Both times they came out either on the day I called, or the very next day. Oh, my goodness! I have dealt with a lot of contractors in my life. I cannot recommend Clawson highly enough! Matt came out and spent some time discussing what kind of HVAC we really wanted and made a suggestion that no one else had come up with. We got a super efficient system that was perfect for the size of our house. He took measurements and made calculations that the other prospective contractors did not bother to do. Our installers were nice, helpful, courteous, put up with our 3 dogs and clearly enjoyed their job and working for Clawson. They did a terrific job and cleaned up amazingly well after themselves. They answered all of our questions and offered a 24-7 phone number to call with any further questions. While my family was sequestered due to the COVID-19, our furnace stopped heating. Instead of limping along, I decided my family really needed the creature comforts to ease the time at home. After deciding on Clawson, I called and received wonderfully sincere, warm customer service from Sherry. Then, after being told my window was 2pm - 4pm, we received a knock on the door right around 2pm. Out of respect for our repairman, my family went into their rooms to allow Brent to work safely in our home. He was kind, respectful of the situation and did a great job of resolving the issue. We had wonderful experience today with our technician and Clawson Heating this morning. We called Tuesday morning for a service call for our furnace. First appt available was for Thursday but they would call us if something opened up earlier. Just a hour later they called to tell us they could get to us between 12 and 2pm today. They even did a follow-up visit when my furnace shut down again a day later. My only 2 criticisms were lack of transparency on pricing during the job (I was very surprised at the amount of the bill) and even after 2 visits and all that $, I had to call another vendor.... it was a simple pressure switch that needed to be replaced (not likely a clog in the ventilation). Igniter on furnace was broken. I was told by the service man that we had to buy the whole kit as it is not separate. Went with a different company that magically had a separate igniter switch. Disappointed to say the least. Based on the research I did on this company, it seemed like the right way to go. I always go out of my way to support someone locally based and close by. And I was more than patient in my dealings here. Set up to have a quote done. The house is one we were under contract with, but not yet closed on, so it required me to have my realtor drive across town to open the place up for them. So we got to wait for the rep to show up an hour late (with no communication from them, nor a way to reach them). He eventually shows up and does his evaluation, leaves me some literature, and says he'll email me a quote within a couple days. A week goes by without a word. I call the office and am told I'll hear back the next day from them. I hear nothing. Another week goes by and I call again to ask about my quote. I'm once again told I'll be called back or emailed with the information. Again, nothing. Given the distance myself and my realtor have to travel to go open the house up to get a quote done by another company, it's been a huge inconvenience in order to get a working furnace in the place before we move in. I tried and tried to give this company my money, I called, I waited, I called again, I waited. Clearly my wanting/needing to purchase a new heat pump from them isn't a high priority. I avoid writing negative reviews on local companies nowadays, but being treated like you don't matter without even being given the courtesy of saying "sorry, we're unable to serve you right now" is very disappointing. read more

After an extended period of time watching YouTube videos and trying to fix my furnace on my own I called Clawson. I'm acquainted with Charles Ledbury who happens to work there. Based on my relationship with Charles, I know him to be thorough, educational in his approach, (in life & business) & most importantly, honest. I called Clawson as a Vancouver resident solely based upon my respect for Charles. In my initial conversation with Charles he indicated that it could be something simple and the basic cost of the service call would cover it. ($109.00). Worst case scenario we'd be looking at $800.00-$1,000.00 to get heat. I called to set an appointment mid morning. I was told that someone would contact me between 3-6PM same day. At roughly 4:00 PM I received a call from Eric Berg who said he was on his way from Portland and would arrive in a half hour or so based on traffic. Almost on the dot, there was a knock at my door. Eric arrived and shook my hand while handing me his card. He had clean room shoe covers to walk into my less than ideal carpet. I have a 3 year old). After a few minutes of troubleshooting I was informed that I needed a new "board". In my mind this is that $800-$1,000 that Charles said would be worst case scenario. The board that I needed was a bit less expensive and for a little over $600.00 I now had heat in my home!! While Eric was working in my furnace he replaced an old igniter switch and upgraded something from 80volt to 120volt and said that this upgrade in all likelihood would outlast my furnace. He also took time to clean things up in my furnace that could result in future service calls. After buttoning up my furnace he went over their warranty with me & took photos of his work which will go in my file with them for any future needs. Once the job was competed, he came in to our house and chatted it up with my wife & I. Just small talk but that 15 minutes while collecting a check makes a HUGE difference to me. Awesome company. We had two properties that needed heating system updates, one of which was also getting A/C installed. We originally called because the furnace at one property died and we got "red tagged." Luckily for us, the weather was on our side so we went a couple weeks without heat, while searching for a reputable company. We got a few bids, everyone was nice and prices were all pretty close. However, we decided to go with Clawsons because they had a fair price and they carry American Standard products. We reviewed all sorts of brands and we leaned more towards A.S. Also, they sized the equipment to the size of the house and not once did they try to swindle us into a bigger system or more expensive, higher efficiency unit. Especially since the house is so small, it wouldn't have made a difference. The installation at both properties were timely, efficient and they were very clean during the whole process. Which was a big plus for me. Tarps were down everywhere and they even wiped everything down and made sure we were familiar with the new equipment before leaving. The cherry on top was a few weeks after installation, they personally delivered a thank you gift basket to us and apologized it came so late. We've been doing tons of remodeling and dealing with different companies and contractors lately and Clawsons was a breathe of fresh air. This company is wonderful!! They did not install our system, but we have found them to be the best in this area for service. We have had a service contract with them for about a year. For some of us who often neglect the things we take for granted day to day, they are always on task about scheduling routine maintenance of our heating/cooling system. Shari is great to chat with on the phone and always pleasant. What I appreciate most is that Shari will assign a time frame for the service person to arrive and work. On the day of the appointment she calls to let you know when the service person is on their way to your home. In this busy world, this little extra is AWESOME! Gage has been to our home to service our unit more than once. Last time I let him know I sensed a little leak of Gas on occasion and he immediately did a test and took care of it. Gage is very pleasant,knowledgeable and very considerate of the space he is working in. Again today we had a need. A replacement of a condensation pump... Gage took care of it immediately and then performed a tune up of the entire system. He is spectacular. There are many places in the Metro area to choose from for your heating/cooling needs. We had Clawson Heating & Air replace our air conditioner yesterday. They did a fantastic job. The people who had installed our furnace & previous air conditioner had done a horrible job, which we knew prior to contacting Clawson. The two guys from Clawson had to spend hours doing sheet metal work to fix the pinched airflow, add an electronic filter, a sump pump for condensation that previously dumped directly under our house and installing the new air conditioner itself. I received a flyer in the mail from Clawson Heating & AC advertising a $99 20 point tune up. My furnace fan has started to make a high pitched whine recently so I figured I would take advantage of this deal and get it looked at. I checked Yelp and saw the 5 star reviews, so I went ahead and made the appointment. They were nice on the phone and were able to give me an appointment within a day or two. The guy arrived at the end of the appointment window and apologized about being a little late due to traffic. He was nice and efficient and fixed my belt on my furnace so that the whining stopped.
