They fixed some damage caused by other contractors to the exterior vent cover and piping and I'm not sure our dryer has ever worked so well. Their bid was not the lowest, but during the time spent preparing the bid they really convinced me that they knew what they were doing and would not cut any corners. From what I can tell they did not. I would heartily recommend them for any dryer venting needs you might have and suspect they do as fine a job with HVAC ducting as well.

Better Air Northwest sent out an estimator (Eric) for free. He was really nice, helpful, and figured out how to solve our issue for a reasonable price! We received the estimate per email a couple days later and unlike other companies, no pressure was put on us to approve the job right away - instead we were given as long as we needed to discuss and ponder. As soon as we approved the estimate, we were contacted so we could get on the schedule. Somehow Edgar and Juan asked and also answered all the questions at the very beginning and we were able to do other things while they did these 2 jobs like the true professionals they are. They started by taping everything in the room with the closet, and it kept everything so clean! (Although they did clean up after - and left the place tidier than it started haha - not even kidding they cleaned our doormat I forgot to clean prior to their arrival!) The attached pictures were provided by them and show the beautiful job they did! But I've seen other little touches that proof they are all about getting the job done right. I was impressed by the process from start to finish and the noticeable difference in air quality afterward. The scheduling process was easy and transparent. I called on a Tuesday, and they were able to fit me within two weeks. The office staff clearly explained the pricing structure (which was fixed based on the size of the house, with optional add-ons like dryer vent cleaning) and sent a confirmation text the day before. The technicians, Andreas & Cody, called me 50 minutes before arrival, right arrived pretty close to the promised time. I knew there was construction down the street so I figured they would be delayed due to stopped traffic. The two arrived in a well-marked truck and was immediately professional. They took time to explain the negative pressure vacuum system they use, which involved hooking up a large hose to the main duct trunk near the furnace. They wore boot covers inside the house, which I appreciated. The cleaning itself involved systematically sealing off all registers and then using powerful air whips into each vent to agitate and loosen all the debris. They showed me the incredible amount of dirt, dust, and junk they removed from the main trunk--it was genuinely shocking and visually compelling. When finished with the vents they took on the dryer. The lint cleaned out of the vent and the filter was surprising. I expect the drying cycles will be quicker with a clean system. The entire process took approximately 5 hours. Once finished, they sealed up the access holes they created cleanly. There were only two rooms where they forgot to move furniture back in place. The immediate difference was significant: the air in the house feels fresher and less "stuffy," and the HVAC system runs noticeably quieter. I am confident that the removal of years of dust and allergens will benefit our household, especially during allergy season. Better Air Northwest delivered exactly what they promised: professional service, clear communication, and excellent results. I highly recommend them if you are looking to improve your indoor air quality.

He first asked me questions to see if I really needed his services. Per my answers, he really didn't see an issue. But I made an appointment just to make sure. John was super nice and answered all of my questions. The outside vent cover was super old and brittle and he replaced it. I was watching everything he was doing so I could learn. He pointed out some things to keep an eye out for, but with my setup he said that I should never need service. And if anyone said so, he'd be skeptical. I told him that's why I had his number in my phone. He provided a lot of value with the information he was sharing with me. Trustworthy and all around nice guy. I highly recommend his services.

While inspecting the ducting, they discovered a section that needed to be fixed. My home warranty would cover that fix, but only if I use their approved contractor. So I couldn't have J&M Services fix the duct nor clean the ducting that day. They ended up only charging me for the dryer vent cleaning that they were able to complete that day. They came to our house told us everything was very dirty and that everything will need to be brushed no vacuumd so our Groupon was worthless. $450 for a half done job(see pictures of AFTER the original work was done). We requested a detailed invoice of the service and when we didn't receive it I called to find out what the delay was. The person I spoke to just kept reiterating the same thing over and over. How dirty everything was and how they cleaned it and I was to prove to him where it was still dirty. Mind you he was looking at this very same review while on the phone. The last red flag that is they only take venmo AND it goes to a private individual under the name Marlene Gomez Perez. Please do not use this company.

Update following the company's response:…read more I want to clarify one point raised in the owner's reply so readers understand the concern accurately. Yes, I mentioned that I would prefer the panels be placed on the rear of the home if possible. That was simply an aesthetic preference and not a design requirement. I relied on the company's expertise to determine whether that placement would still allow the system to reasonably meet the goals discussed during the sales process. I also want to be clear that the system functioning is not the issue. We appear to agree that the equipment is producing energy as designed. The production numbers themselves have never been what I questioned. The concern I raised relates to how the system size and expectations were presented during the sales process. When we explored going solar, the conversations centered around offsetting most or all of our electric bill, which was the primary reason we decided to move forward with a $20,000 installation. If it had been clearly communicated that the system was intended to be a smaller "starter system" that would only offset a portion of our electricity usage, we likely would have approached the decision differently or waited until we had a longer utility history available. Another important point is that no written proposal or modeling documentation outlining the assumed household usage or projected offset was ever provided prior to signing. Because those design assumptions were never shared with us in writing, it has been difficult to understand how the system size was determined relative to our expected energy needs. As a result, we are now paying a monthly solar loan while still carrying a meaningful electric bill, which is not the outcome we understood or expected when making this investment. At this point, I have shared my experience and clarified the concerns raised. I do not intend to continue a public back-and-forth discussion on this review. My purpose in posting this update is simply to provide context so other homeowners researching solar know to request clear written modeling and offset assumptions before making a significant investment.

David, the technician, was incredibly professional and respectful of my space and home. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was protected during the service, laying down blankets by the entrance, and installing corner guards on the walls to prevent any damage from the hoses. The carpet restretching truly renewed the room, and the tile cleaning brought the grout back to life. This was our first carpet cleaning since we bought the home 10 years ago, and we've had multiple pets. I am blown away - I had Kevin McCarthy come out for us with A+ carpet cleaning and he cleaned our apartment on February 15th, 2016. He arrived early. (With a phone call beforehand to inform us of his ETA) He arrived uniformed - we are talking a polo shirt tucked into some work pants. Very clean cut and professional. Arrived with a smile and jumped out of his van and shook my hand. So first impression was super good. Then onto the work - he took a look at the carpet and realized that is was pretty soiled, so he offered me the cleaning kit with heavy soil. I accepted. We signed and he got to work. Now I actually left at this point for a business dinner (Which is testimonial to how much I trusted him and to show how he works even when I'm not around) I returned to my apartment to find it AMAZING! I can NOT express how much attention to detail he used. For instance, along my kitchen there is a THIN strip of carpet that I never expected Kevin to clean, but he even got that! I have used Mike to clean my carpets for a number of years. I found him on Angie's list. My carpets are usually not much of a challenge, but my daughter had a dog that would pee every time you pet him. I had Mike clean her apartment several times over three years and he was always successful in getting out the pet stains and smells. Also, I hate the deodorizers most carpet cleaners use and asked Mike to avoid them. After all, clean has no smell. If you want to know if someone has really cleaned well, stay away from products that mask odors. You don't want the bad smells to be masked, only to return a few days later. No smell after Mike cleans. He passed the test with flying colors. On another occasion, Mike cleaned my house prior to a sale. There was a discolored spot from bleach. Mike told me before he cleaned that he couldn't fix that and recommended an expert carpet dye professional who made the carpet like new. One more thing - many times you call a carpet cleaning company and you get some poorly trained newbie who is clueless. I got a number of quotes from several different companies. One was a national outfit that we all know and the other was a local outfit with a fairly large fleet of vans. It seemed weird that the two quotes were so widely different so I went looking for a third. I ended up on A+ from either yelp or a google search, can't remember. At any rate, I spoke with Mike and got a quote that split the other two right down the middle. What set A+ apart form the rest was the knowledge and passion for the business. That's what sold me. I was confident that he would come in and do the job properly. Keep in mind that we have lived in my house for 6 years and only had the carpet cleaned ONCE so Mike had his word cut out for him. He showed up on time as scheduled and did a fantastic job. He was able to get out some pretty stubborn stains (raisins, kids slime, coffee, soda, etc.). The only one he wasn't able to get was hair dye which, quite frankly, I don't expect anyone to be able to get that one out. I had no expectations when I called A+, actually when we let them know how dirty the carpet was... Yes was... I expected them to give disclaimers or turn us away completely. and even when they said No Problem, I figured ok they will get to my house that has had no less then 3 huge dogs tracking dirt through it for 5+ years they would literally laugh and walk away. kevin walked through the house asked about different areas figuring the problem locations and with a smile told me again no problem. This guy spent the next 3 hours pretreatment and cleaning our carpets, and honestly I really didn't want to look but when he finished I was trully amazed. people come to my house ask if we had carpet replaced because there is such a difference. kevin was noticeably trashed from the effort sweating and tired frowned slightly and said that was a tough one I am sorry I couldn't do more for you. I wanted to kiss that kid, before that I was embarrassed to have people come over at all Now it looks like an entirely different home! This is a great small business to put your money into. They provide quality work at a fair price. I requested a quote and within a half a day, I received general prices via email and called and talked to Tiki about a more detailed quote, based on my house. She was extremely professional and helped break it down for me as I got my carpets cleaned, the ducts for my HVAC system cleaned out, and the dryer vent cleaned. When the crew came out, they were extremely polite, made me feel comfortable with what they planned on doing, and walked me through their plan of action. Letting him know that I just purchased my first home, he showed me things as he went along and provided tips and things that he recommended I look at in the future. I really appreciated that because he was treating me like a family member, and not a client. Overall, this experience, from beginning to end, was extremely positive and I would recommend them to anyone who needs carpets cleaned, or duct cleaned. They were polite, professional, and authentic. I echo the 5 star reviews for this family-run business. After doing a lot of research, I decided to call A+ Carpet Cleaning. I was immediately impressed with the warm and friendly connection. I had several questions about process, costs, and Covid precautions which were throughly explained to me. An appointment was quickly confirmed. The office kept in touch with me via text/emails on arrival time and set-up needs. Prior to arrival, Kevin called me to say he was on his way and reviewed set-up details. When he arrived, he was masked and went to work protecting wall and floor surfaces that could come contact with his cleaning equipment. Kevin did an amazing job! Kevin checked in with me after completion to go over what he did and when conditions would be ready for to use. He also throughly cleaned his work route to/from the truck and confirmed my approval. Got carpet professionally cleaned for my entire home this week 1/19/2022. **Super happy with the service. The office appt. and service personnel kept me in in sync by text on schedule/estimated quote and their arrival status as well as instruction how to prepare my house to get ready for their service. Really like this closed loop communication. When he arrived he walked through the all the rooms of both floors and gave me the actual cost of the service and explain clearly which corner/area cannot be cleaned completely. Very honest. He worked hard almost 4 hours for both upstairs and downstairs. The results are amazing. Looks like I have brand new carpet for my home (23 years old home). Yay. . I have two dogs: a 4 month old black lab and a 15 year old miniature poodle who is incontinent and has chronic pancreatitis (so she vomits occasionally). So my carpets look soiled and emit a bad odor. When I spoke to the receptionist at Portland Carpet Cleaning about my needs, she was quite positive that they could do the job. She managed to get an appointment for me within a week's time. She was extremely kind and optimistic. I also had 18 "carpeted stairs" which were grounded with "step marks"! I had contemplated replacing them with new carpet but decided to have them cleaned by A+ Carpet. When the job was completed, the dog odor and the numerous soiled spots disappeared. Very happy with A+ Carpet Cleaning. I have used several other carpet cleaning services over the years with so-so results. Fast appointment schedule, very reasonable prices, and almost uncanny knowledge of carpet structure, material and how to handle different types of stains from different types of environmental situations. My problem had to do with something called "browning", an unfortunate situation where once my carpet was cleaned by A+'s competition, it would look good for about 2 weeks, then the stains would return by leeching through the bottom up. A+ Carpet addressed the issue and while not completely gone, much improved after 4 months. After the fantastic cleaning, they offered tips as well as a free bottle of spot cleaner for touch-ups. I rarely write reviews but wanted to support A+ Carpet for their performance, kindness and attention to the customer. Mike was helpful in answering my questions about the process, repair and general info about carpets. He legitimately wanted to be helpful...a rare trait these days, which speaks to his work ethic. He did the repair of the buckle in the bedroom(power stretch), cleaned some smaller stains(paint?) and thoroughly cleaned all the carpets. He also helped me decide to clean our living room area rug which is on wood flooring and did an outstanding job without damaging the wood floor. He was punctual, worked diligently, and was courteous and respectful of our home. We needed our carpets cleaned after our puppy finally became house broken and a delightful young man, Kevin, came to our home and exceeded all my expectations. He explained the process, gave me an accurate estimate, and worked his tail off to leave our beige carpets looking as good as when they were new - and they're 20 years old! and we live on a farm! He was thorough and knowledgable, and polite and fair with his estimate of how much product he used to get the odors out. We had a power outage while he was working which stopped his access to our water (electric water pump) and he hadn't finished one 6x9' carpet, so he took it with him to finish at his next job and returned it to me the next day - his day off. Had A+ Carpet Cleaning simply cleaned our carpet, we would have given A+ the same review. A+. Good quality, good value, professional, responsive and on time. But there was in our world so much more. Brian arrived within five minutes of my washing machine overflowing our wet room and part of the kitchen. I frantically asked if he might be able to help with his equipment. Far beyond the call of duty, and far beyond his job parameters, he helped vacuum water, ring out towels, remove wet area rugs and then went on to the work he was here to do. So much better when the owner actually comes and does the work! Last time a 'Steamer' company sent a bored employee who had a cold and didn't want to be there. He left more marks than he cleaned. Mike did a great job of cleaning the entire house. Dogs, muddy feet, couple parties, garden feet in and out, old stains, a year of me trying to spot clean, you name it. We were ready to remove some of the old carpet but it now looks new again. Stay away from the "clean your entire house for $99 deals" you will only get $99 worth of clean but the up-sells will run you over $500 by the time you are done. While visiting my son here in Oregon my dog had a few accidents on their carpet, I felt terrible so decided to look up carpet cleaners to come out and clean their carpets and hope that they would be able to get the stains out. Mike Honkanen, owner of A+ Carpet Cleaning cleaned the ducts, vents, air returns, dryer vents, and exhaust fans in my home. He did the most thorough and detailed job, cleaning not only the duct work, but all the nooks and crannies of the vents going into the ducts, same with the exhaust fans. I could hear all the dust being cleaned out. The exhaust fans are more efficient and no longer noisy. My dryer works twice as fast. The support staff is wonderful. This is a high quality service and you get what you pay for. You may be able to find a discount service that charges a bit less, but you won't get this level of quality and expertise. definitely get your moneys worth and then some. read more

A+ Carpet Cleaning's team did a great job on our shaggy, dirty, dingy carpet. They got the tough stains out and worked in a fast and efficient manner. Kevin and Brian were professional yet friendly which puts a person at ease when letting someone into your home. From the time I set up the appointment with a very close "Guesstimate" of what it would cost to the follow up phone call the day after our cleaning to see if our carpet dried OK and if we were happy with the outcome. This company is genuine and top notch. Our carpet is softy, clean and odor free. We will definitely use the company's service again and will recommend them to our friends and coworkers. read more

We have used A+ Carpet Cleaning a handful of times - twice for pet accidents and once to clean the carpet throughout our home. They are wonderful and without a doubt our go to carpet cleaners! The customer service with A+ is top notch. We were so grateful that Tiki was able to fit us into the schedule on short notice in our two emergency situations. Our technician Kevin did an amazing job for us all three times, thoroughly removing stains and bringing our carpet back to life. We are new to the Portland area and were looking for a good, reliable, and affordable carpet cleaning company. We went on vacation, leaving someone to stay at the house with the dogs. Long story short, she did not stay at the house and let them out once a day. You can imagine the mess we had on our carpets. A+ Carpet came out and did a great job. A few of the urine stains started to show through, our very light colored carpet, and they came back and took care of it. We just had them out again to do our entire house and it looks so nice. Great personal service. From the first call to schedule, and being able to talk with a human (not a machine), to the return to address a small spot that had "wicked" through, the people at A+ were easy to work with and attentive to my needs and the job. Mike fixed the carpet stretching so extremely well that the repairs are invisible! I am so impressed with Mike's skill. Not a scratch on any baseboards. They kept me well informed of the appointment and their arrival time. Were professional, respectful of the property and the fact I was working out of a home office, and courteous. We needed the carpets cleaned anyway, but I was shocked and amazed Kris got that stain out. He made our old carpets look fresh and clean. (Yes, we'd like to replace them but it's not in the cards for a while.) Kris also has a positive, empathetic attitude, but if you're a work from home, he'll let you be. Finally another value this company provides is that the extraction he does gets the water/cleaning solution back out of the carpet much more thoroughly than other companies we've hired in the past; this means that the carpet dries in a much more reasonable time--within hours to maybe a day. If your HVAC offers a whole house fan on switch, that will speed it up even more.

Particularly notable was how Chris walked me through the problem before starting, setting realistic expectations about what he can and cannot accomplish in one single cleaning with a mess like that. Sure enough, about three spots reappeared that resulted from the cleaned but wet carpet wicking up some more dirt from the concrete floor underneath. So Chris made another stop to spot clean those stains, and everything now looks as good as before the back up. Chris is a good man and I enjoyed some friendly conversation with him.
