Really impressed with this company. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly for duct cleaning. Pricing was transparent and communication was excellent, and the technicians called when they were on their way and arrived right on time. While inspecting the ducting, they discovered a section that needed to be fixed. My home warranty would cover that fix, but only if I use their approved contractor. So I couldn't have J&M Services fix the duct nor clean the ducting that day. They ended up only charging me for the dryer vent cleaning that they were able to complete that day. They were very honest and helpful, and I will definitely be calling on them again for their services. Highly recommend! read more

They showed up on time, scheduled the inspection with the city for the next day, and did an amazing job at a good price. I called J&M to get my air vents cleaned after we recently moved into our new home. The receptionist was very friendly and informative, and the rates seemed very fair! We scheduled the work to be done, and they were very accommodating in working around my schedule. The 2 guys that showed up were polite and professional, and didn't mind answering my questions about how the air vent cleaning process worked. They did an inspection of my crawlspace and found a heating duct that had fallen apart. The guys fixed the duct with materials they had with them and did a great job. I always wondered why the office wasn't as warm as the rest of the house, now I know it wasn't getting any air flow! Highly recommend J&M for vent cleaning! I did a major ground up remodel on a house in Vancouver over the summer. Great fun with a couple of exceptions related to the dependability of contractors (or lack thereof... GAG!). I am not sure what the parallel is to Hawaii or San Diego. In Hawaii and San Diego, contractors fail to show up to work when the surf is high. In Vancouver... who knows, but getting contractors in general to show up is a major pain. J & M is the exception and they are exceptional. They showed up as scheduled, they stayed within their bid and they did an excellent job of coordinating the permit and following up. I will absolutely hire them when I start my next house and highly recommend them. read more

Found J&M on Home Advisor. By the time I called them, I had a series of bad experiences with other contractors trying to get quotes on adding a gas line and electrical to install a gas range in my first home that I just purchased. I was a bit jaded and skeptical when I reached out to them. They were very responsive, answered all of my questions, and was able to give me a free quote based on the job without seeing it - a reasonable quote at that! This was compared to one company wanting to charge me $130 to provide a quote, another company who I scheduled, took the day off, and then cancelled on me the evening before, and a third company who quoted me such a ridiculous amount, I thought it was a joke (especially once you know the job only took an hour). They pulled the permit, showed up on time, installed a 3/4" gas line from the meter to the location of the range - 15 feet away. They finished within an hour and followed up by email to schedule the City Inspector. The following day, they called and gave us the inspection window. Every step of the way they communicated clearly. Lack of sufficient, clear communication is often the biggest issue homeowners have with contractors. Not with J&M. They were great! read more

these guys knocked it out of the park switching from electric stove, to GAS, needed a new line ran from gas meter. their price was outstanding, and they were very accommodating with scheduling due to a back order situation on our new gas range. the city inspection was going on and on about how great the work was while he was doing the inspection. This company has been the BEST experience for us. We have been working on a project to get a gas line plumbed for our backyard for the last 3 months or so. J&M has had to come out multiple times so far between initial work, our getting a deck built and fire pit together, city inspection, and now to finalize the project. Every time, they have called to confirm they are on the way, and arrive with everything they need on time. I especially love that I can call or text Michelle (who answered my initial call to set this up, and also obtained the necessary city permits for us) with updates or questions, and she takes care of everything. We bought a house this summer, which looked clean but was not at all, so we decide to clean our Air Duct before the winter. Court came (with someone else, I'm sorry I don't remember his name) and we realized that the people that owned the house before probably never cleaned it! This company was my "second opinion" choice when my regular duct cleaning/replacement company mandated a total ductwork replacement after we'd just done that with them 1 1/2 years before! Yes, we'd HAD a rat problem but that was resolved over the winter by excluding the opening, but they deemed the ductwork "unrepairable". After J&M looked it all over they said absolutely they could repair the damaged duct lines so they quickly bought supplies and finished up the repairs that day, to my total delight! Instead of another $2,800 to the previous duct cleaning/ replacement company, we paid J&M 1/6th of that amount, very pleased! Mike and his partner are very professional, you can ask questions and not feel like an idiot too. We had them back today to clean the ductwork and now our rental is perfect for the new tenant. I was a bit worried that the quotes I got seemed to be "all over the map", but I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough the team was for such a reasonable price. Their quote was exactly what they charged. Their customer service was great; they called the morning of our appointment to confirm, and called when they were on their way. They even went above and beyond trying to diagnose a vent blockage problem. They were very clean; they cleaned every vent cover and the return vent with water and dried them thoroughly. They were careful to keep my pets out of the vents and answered all my questions. They cleaned up and replaced everything that needed to be moved, back to its original state, and my vents are cleaned and sanitized. Everyone in our house is breathing better. I did the requested preparations, and when Mike and Ryan showed up, they went to town for 2-1/2 hours of hard work, even being able to clean the almost inaccessible dryer duct. I am a very clean and fussy about service companies; this should be your go to company for duct cleaning. They did the original venting and gas lines on my house when it was built and did a great job. I had them back to do dryer duct cleaning and they were clean, professional, took off their shoes in our house, used a drop cloth to protect floor, and used a handheld vacuum after they were done to clean up the minimal dust. I don't know the quality of work J&M does, but I do know this... I called them up about doing some work in my kitchen (this was not for large scale commercial work) and was informed that, should someone have to come out for a consult, the cost for that alone would $190. I asked them if the consult fee would be applied towards the cost of the job if I decided to go ahead using their services and the reply was... no. Now, I don't have a issue with a consult fee; you're asking a professional to come out to your place. Overwhelmingly, consult fees I've previously encountered were more like $30-70 (and were universally applied towards the final cost of the job). To charge $190 for a consult makes me not even think about using J&M (and, btw, on their web page they lie and claim consults are free). Maybe they don't want to bother with smaller jobs... understood. Be open about that. But I won't be using J&M in future. read more

I purchased an all electric home and as soon as I learned natural gas was available I began planning on future appliance changes. The problem was there was no gas plumbing at all and i was basically a new construction house. Gas piping required extensive research and design meeting code. Once my plans were drawn, finding contractors who were experienced with this work, as well as NW Natural requirements seemed like a daunting task. NW Natural was specific in their requirements and was pretty clear to only be involved with preferred or contractors that were experienced with them. I searched and was only finding people that would extend a gas line to a new appliance and small jobs and the two i found that both told me they could run all new gas pipe for me; the first never showed up and the second really felt overwhelmed once reviewing my plans and going over the scope of the work. He gave me a bid for almost $4k. Months were going by and i was losing faith i would ever get this work done. I found J&M Services and the first time i read their site, the scope of work they did, I felt I had finally found the right people. I contacted them and they provided a bid based on my drawings which met gas code. Their bid was half of the previous bid i received. I chose them to do this job as well as file county permits for the work. I was so happy this work was finally being done. Jeremiah and an associate worked for about 9 hours installing gas pipe to 7 future as appliances. I thought i would never see this complete. They left the pipe pressurized and ready for inspection which passed without issue. They left no mess behind, just new plumbing ready for NW Natural to install a meter on. I couldn't recommend them enough to anyone who is looking for gas pipe extension or a whole house job. read more
