We had a major problem with a company called Sun Glo who could not fix our furnace and told us that Willard did not clean our chimney and furnace. As it turned out Sun Glu was the one who did not do their job. Willard came out the second time and showed us the problem and it wasn't their fault but they went out of there way to help solve our problem and gave us a deep discount to do a second chimney and furnace cleaning. We're very happy with the furnace and duct cleaning that the Willard PV techs did in our home. They seemed knowledgeable and skilled in the work they did. They explained the process to us before they started since I needed to know if I should leave the house or not. I had just been released from the hospital after fighting pneumonia for over a week. They told me it shouldn't cause an issue and sealed all of the vents before they began the cleaning to prevent a dust mess through the whole house. Then vacuum truck seemed to take care of any "junk" that came out of our duct work to get it clean. I did sit outside through most of the cleaning process but didn't see any major dust in the air when I came inside after they were done. Our house does seem less dusty after the cleaning too. Before we would get a solid layer of dust on all the flat surfaces in the house within just a couple of days of wiping down everything. We checked prices with a few companies before we chose Willard. Their prices are right in the middle range. One company we spoke to was comparably priced (within $40), one was approx. $100 higher priced, and one was slightly cheaper. We went with Willard because the person we spoke to when we called was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful answering our questions. The techs arrive about an hour and a half late, without any communication to us that they were running late, so the lacking of a courtesy call to let us know was a little disappointing. Just had this company out to perform a duct cleaning prior to new furnace installation. Very good service and Jacob was very respectful and tidy during his work. The only thing I will say is they came out very early at 7 AM and the vacuum is very loud which can be annoying to neighbors. It is what it is and is bound to irritate someone... Willard Power Vac was recommended to me as a result of replacing a 14 year old oil burner with gas. Our ducts hadn't been cleaned since the oil furnace was installed. Turns out they should be cleaned on average about every five years and I believe it. We had a 10:00 appointment but got a call around 08:00 informing us of a cancelled appointment and that if we were ok with it, they could start early. No problem there and about 15 minutes later, they were in my driveway. I found the two-man crew to be affable, knowledgeable, and focused on the job. Professional applies too. Duct cleaning can be a loud, disruptive and invasive process, but Willard's crew explained things and answered any questions I posed which made it easier. About 90 minutes later they were packing up their equipment. We spent about five minutes chatting before they rolled out. It was a pleasant way to end the service. They did a good job start to finish which is why I'm scoring this review 5 stars. That said, I can certainly recommend Willard's Power Vac for any duct cleaning work you may need. read more

I reached out to this company and they quoted me for cleaning my hvac system and told me how much it would be to get ductwork cleaned. I then asked how much it would be for a dryer vent cleaning as mine constantly says a 95% clog and was told the amount. I was told they could come out on Monday 5/15 at 1:30 pm. I disclosed I didn't have a ladder tall enough and was told they come with their own ladders. I also asked if they suck out the lint or just blow it around as I didn't want someone who was just going to spray compressed air. I was told they vacuum it out as well. I was asked for my address and gave the information. I never heard anything back and nobody came out. I called at 3:00 and was told the scheduler was sick but I was NEVER put on the schedule. I cannot attest to their work but I can tell about my experience which was them not showing up and not even putting it on their books even though I told them I'd be happy to forward the email chain I had going with them. read more

We were so impressed with Willard's Power Vac work and their professionalism. We hired them to come in and vacuum out our vents. Their thoroughness is unbelievable, from checking all the vents to the process of blowing out and vacuuming the whole time so debris does not come through our vents. In their process, they noticed underneath the house that some ductwork had been stepped on and crushed. So they spent the time to find the parts, which a lot places were out of, and come back to install it properly. They checked it after for its proper working order. They were always polite and kind, and explained everything to us. We give them a 10-star rating if we could and we highly recommend their service. I was quoted 175 plus 15 per vent. When they came on-site (an hour after they promised) they said I would need an access panel cut since my system has never been cleaned before -$17. Then they said it would be another $45 because my furnace was under the house. When I asked why wasn't I told this upfront when I set the appointment up, they essentially told me because I didn't ask. Apparently I was supposed to roll over and pay them $60 without question. I understand the charges but don't know why they didn't ask the location of the furnace and if this work has ever been done before...I guess because they expect you to pay up since they are already there. I sent them away, called their dispatch and was again told it was all my fault because I didnt know the ins and outs of duct cleaning. I probably wouldn't have even written this review if it weren't for how rude they were. STAY AWAY! Find a company that will stick to their quote. read more

Worst service EVER! The technique they used caused more harm to me and my family then good. Instead of removing all the vent covers and taking them out side to clean them they used forced air to blow the dust into our home making it literally worse then it was. Not only that but we left them with the responsibility of closing the house up and when we came back the garage door had been left wide open. Hired these guys to clean out our HVAC ducts. Pretty sure it had never been done in or 1940's house. We cleaned them out just after moving in and found cig packs that were who knows how old. I called several companies to get pricing. One company I called only did service of the unit and not cleaning. They suggested Willard because they have been around for a while and told me that I should only hire HVAC cleaning companies that use truck mounted vaccums...they said otherwise you really don't get clean ducts since the hand held ones are much less powerful. Good to know. They guys were right on time and went about the cleaning relatively quickly. We have had some flooding in our basement so I thought we would need to have them do the extra mold/bacteria protective coating at $17 per vent. They were really honest and told me no need. They did not see any signs of mold or bacteria. Willard's pricing was great. We have 10 vents and had the furnace serviced and it was just around $300/just under. Another company I called that had the truck mounted vacs quoted over $600 for the same service. What the??? read more

I called these guys to clean our dryer vents. They arrived an hour before they were supposed to and hooked their truck up to the outside vent. They sucked every piece of lint out of the dryer and vent. I couldn't believe how clean it was. They were prompt, courteous, and did an excellent job. It costs $125 to clean the dryer vent. If you get the heater vents cleaned it only costs $75 to clean the dryer. read more

I contacted Willard Power Vac on a Sunday inquiring about having them come out and clean my dryer vent due to discovering quite a bit of lint build up under my lint catch. I received a response first thing Monday morning with a detailed description of what to expect and flat upfront rate for the service, which I really liked. I scheduled my appointment for 10:30am and it was to my surprise they made it about an hour early, which was great! The two gentlemen took their shoes off immediately entering my home and were very polite. They began to work on my dryer and told me although there was some lint build up under the lint trap, my vent and fan were completely clear and there is no cause for concern there. Just to double check they located where it vents outside to also ensure there was no build up there and confirmed it was also clean. They suggested that I simply have it serviced, but it was not necessary to clean my vents, as it was not needed. WOW, I am impressed! In this day an age it's hard to find honest companies like this! Needless to say, they didn't do any dryer vent cleaning nor did they even charge for the visit. I appreciate this company's honesty and I will definitely refer them and use them in the future. I am a renter in SE Portland, my landlord hired this company to clean my houses vents. First, my scheduled appointment was at 12:30 they called to change it to around 2...okay, I can deal with that. The guy came in pulled all of his hoses throughout every room in my house didn't lay down any tarps like the website states. He also didn't cover the vents around the hose to make an air tight seal. He wasn't very pleasant overall. I had to clean a dusty and sandy mess in every room of my house, he even left a dusty gross mess on my dining table. In another rental house owned by a different landlord I had the vents there cleaned by a different company and I wish I could remember their name, but it was a few years back. They were thorough, professional, and I was satisfied after they finished. However, in the case of this experience I wouldn't trust this company to follow the guideline steps posted on their website. After reading them I felt even more disappointed. The air in my house is even worse now, I sneeze every time the furnace come on. I think all he did was stir up the dust in the vents. Now, I'm going to have to pay out of my own pocket to hire another company to fix this guys mistakes. read more

Basically, very similar situation as David. I was quoted $175 plus $15 per vent. My house is brand new and I thought maybe there was some dirt and debris from the building process and wanted it cleaned out. When they arrived they said that they need to cut 2 access panels at $17 each, in a brand new house. After that they looked in my vents they said, that new houses like mine don't have metal ducting so they can't clean them as well. I thought they would still be able to get them clean. In the end it cost me $600 and they left sawdust in the bottom of some vents. When I asked them to get it out they said no because they did not want to have to pay for a repair to the ducting if the suction was too much for it. I will never use these guys again. read more

I had used this company ~25 years ago and was very impressed by their service. Two guys showed up and they ran a spray nozzle head through every vent line after carefully covering over every vent and air return. At that time I would have rated them a 5+. Unfortunately this time I was not favorably impressed. The covering of the vents seemed to me to be a bit careless, as with the 10/26/2012 review, (which unfortunately was not posted when I made my choice of companies) and tarps were only laid under the large vacuum hose from the truck, the air hose that was pulled through the house appeared to be a bit grimy and might have left a spot of goo on the laminate floor (it was easily cleaned up and I cannot be 100% sure it was caused by the service). No air spray nozzles were run through the vents, only through the main trunk line. On the positive side, there were two vents that I thought were air return vents but which he told me were for air distribution and were not connected to the furnace. He could have charged for these without my knowing any better, but did not count them in the bill. Extra point for honesty! The most unpleasant part came when I was charged an extra $75 for A/C coil cleaning. I had asked about this service when I called for the appointment, and was told that the technician will evaluate whether the A/C coil needs cleaning and will show me the problem before I make my decision. When the technician started work, I asked about his evaluation of the coil and he said that it probably needs cleaning, but he did not ask if I wanted it cleaned. I expected he would open up the large access panel on the side of the duct and show me the need for cleaning. That never happened and the $75 appeared on the bill. After some discussion, I asked that he call his boss to resolve this issue; at that point he removed the charge. Bottom line: as the rating indicates I gave them an "Meh, I've experienced better", just be sure to clearly state the services you want and make it clear that any extra-charge options need explicit approval. read more

I hired these guys because when I called they just happened to have someone in my area and could be at my home in less than an hour. They quoted $170 for the furnace and $15 per vent. Once they looked at my furnace they said that I needed access panels (2) cut in at $17 a piece and then they said the furnace did not include cleaning the a/c coil which was an additional $75. I watched as they worked and all they did was blow compressed air into my ducts from above floor level nothing down in the ducting and no physical touching of the duct work. The technician said they can't touch newer homes ducting because it is plastic and would tear, please explain how you clean it good all the way to the furnace without touching it. Needless to say I still have plenty of drywall material stuck to the inside of my ducting which is what has been flaking off and blowing around my house to begin with. All they talked about is how there are a lot of scammers in the business and you need to be careful, that is the truth and they are one of them. Never again. read more

The home is a vacant rental, though they were punctual, my cleaner a week and half later pulled out beer cans from the dryer vent hole in laundry room. We contracted with Willard Power Vac to help us with a somewhat complicated project in our condo at The Henry. We needed them to clean out and possibly replace a dryer vent, which was making our dryer not work at all. They had to move the washer/dryer out of a very tight space, clean things, figure out that the tubing needed to be replaced, get the replacement parts, and put it all back together. They also cleaned all our ducts while they were here. The project was more complex than was easily seen at first, and they were extremely professional and nice about getting it done -- all for the original quoted price. I felt very comfortable having them in our home because the technicians were so focused on the job and professional. I also needed to call the main line to discuss some follow-up questions and they were very nice and helpful -- they did everything they said they would do, and promptly.
