Breakfast this morning at the DW Diner and I eventually connected the dots to understand that the "DW" is Daniel Webster, which is the name of the road. It is a large diner with a number of seating areas. Counter, tables, booths, and a nice entrance that keeps the cold outside where it belongs. A good selection of egg and pancake-based breakfast foods, my keto diet had me looking at omelets where I chose the one with feta and spinach and ham. Side of tomato sliced worked well. It seems like a lot of opinions about this place range from the heights of "excellent" to "worst dining experience ever". It's a fascinatingly intriguing tale, to say the least. I guess, depending on who you are, you could land on either side of the spectrum. At the risk of stating so in presumed ambivalence, my assessment of this newfound breakfast diner ranges somewhere in the middle. This is mostly due to service being pretty stellar, whilst the food was....alright. We gotta get into it. Upfront, it's worth mentioning that after placing our food orders, the meals were out in less than 10 minutes. I was honestly surprised! And whilst this is most certainly a win, it couldn't make up for some of the faux pas in execution. So, I get the hash n' eggs (like I do in most places), along with some homefries and an English muffin. The hash was delicious (and canned, if that matters to anyone) and the eggs were fresh and tasty. The English muffin was actually grilled, which is interesting...since they never really asked me whether I wanted it toasted or grilled. Doesn't matter much to me though. I'll take it either way. The homefries, believe it or not, are what bring this dish down a bit. In fact, it seems both of their breakfast potato sides have problems. I'll try to explain.. The homefries somehow came out in multiple forms of "doneness", depending on which pieces I attempted to eat. This basically meant that they ranged from decently tender on the inside with a seared outside, to slightly overcooked, to cooked to f*@k. Some pieces even resembled that of charcoal. Wifey got hashbrowns with her quiche of the day (which was apparently under seasoned) and those were totally undercooked. In short, one side was overcooked whilst the other was undercooked. Perhaps the cooks operate on the BPD scale of quality assurance. Perennial plant problems aside, I mostly enjoyed my meal. My other two guests thought their quiches could have been better seasoned. The coffee was decent. At least it wasn't a light breakfast blend. Couple other things that bugged me about this place were the dining area being so cramp, walking to the restroom is like a mouse running through the maze for cheese; not to mention the parking situation outside. It's....IMHO, pretty stupid. Okay. Picture this. You got two entrances. Either of these could be the "front" one, depending on your perspective. There's also two entrance points to the parking lot. Only....no. Turns out...the one closest to the true front entrance of the diner has a "DO NOT ENTER" sign on it. Which means if you enter the parking lot the way you're supposed to, you end up pulling up to the side entrance - which you can't use anyway. And then there's the annoying practice of folks being allowed to parallel park in front of the diner, inevitably creating a bottle neck effect for any cars deciding to pass through there. The only other parking options available are along that side entrance I mentioned earlier, or behind the building which....feels wrong to me somehow. I can't quite explain why though. Overall, they weren't bad. But I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return. Which kinda sucks, considering they aren't very far from where I live. At least their prices aren't too bad. while eating breakfast, I picked up a piece of toast off my stack, and saw the next piece HAD A BITE TAKEN OUT OF IT!! You could SEE the teeth matks! I notified the waitress immediately, who brought the plate over to the owner. He couldn't care less! He just went back to work in the kitchen. Didn't come over to apologize! Either someone took a bite out of it in the kitchen, or they are recycling food off of plates they've already served to other customers!! either way, completely unacceptable and disgusting. Not to mention, I was sick to my stomach a half hour later. I'll definitely be calling the department of health in Concord Monday morning. Do yourself a favor, and do not eat here. read more

Breakfast was good. Group of 7, we showed up after the rush. Initially, the hostess crowded us onto a table for 6 but the waitress quickly moved us to an 8 top, especially good since the rush had ended. To follow up, the staff is incredibly friendly. They remember their repeat customers and make you welcome. All of our food was good but my meal came out 5 minutes after everyone else. read more

A disguising mess. Food was served cold (obviously old) and the quality of the food was on par with a grocery store frozen isle. Half of the food we ordered was not edible, our coffee was never refilled, and it seemed as staff were directed to focus on side work (so they could close fast) rather than on the multiple tables of customers. It was a bit uncomfortable to see staff standing and eating at the counter in the dining room. If the staff are on a break - let them sit and eat their meal! If the staff is not on a break, give them a break so they do not have to eat while also working. This was such a huge red flag as to the values of the management and how the staff are not treated respectfully. Another gross bonus was the dripping mini-split unit on the wall at the table next to us. It was likely water but watching it drip down the walls made me question the hygiene of the rest of the establishment. read more

Went on a whim was waiting for a prescription to go through at the CVS down the street. Service was sexist. Waitress asked what we wanted for drinks, my bf replied with coffee and then left not even giving me the chance to place my order of a water... We received our coffee and it was beyond burnt. Coffee is a staple at any diner, how they get away with burnt coffee is beyond me. Once we received our food she did NOT check back in with us to ask how everything was. My Benedict was cold. Eggs were cooked perfectly and was the only warm thing on my plate. The hollandaise sauce and hashbrowns needed to be warmed up. The hashbrowns had a red/orange tint but no flavor to them. As for the two for two my bf got the pancakes and they served him syrup in a prepackaged serving, like you would get at a school or hospital. Serving pancakes and french toast, syrup is a product New Englanders take pride in, prepackaged corn syrup is a disappointment. read more

After doing some fieldwork nearby, I popped into the DW Diner for some breakfast. The DW Diner is located in a strip plaza facing the road and serves breakfast (all day) and lunch including daily specials seven days a week. There's lunch counter seating and table seating inside this cozy hometown eatery. One of my buddies has breakfast here all the time and I bumped into him at the lunch counter already having his breakfast. He let the cat out of the bag and told the staff: "This guy does reviews." The staff of course was very friendly and treated me like gold on my visit. This is the kind of place where everyone knows each other. I started out with a bottomless cup of New England Coffee ($1.35), which is pretty good. I had the special Bacon Cheddar Burger Omelet ($6.99) which included homefries and toast. The good sized Omelet was thinly folded with small pieces of bacon, hamburger, and shredded cheddar inside, which tasted pretty good. The seasoned homefries were great and the wheat toast was buttered. The service here was outstanding, with constant refills on coffee and the eating surface cleared of used dishes, creamers, and sugar often. I must have had four cups of coffee in one sitting because I was good to go for the day!! read more

Don't ever eat here! They take Forever to get your order, then they screw it up. Then the manager don't give a shit. This place is BAD!

We tried the biscuits and gravy with hash browns. Everything was served fresh but not a hot enough temperature for me. The gravy was good with a nice flavor of rosemary but it had too much sweetness to the flavor for my liking. I enjoyed the hash browns and requested melted American cheese on top. Again I enjoyed the flavor and texture but they needed to be served hotter. I felt like the plate was sitting under the kitchen warmer too long. However, we were served quickly and our waitress, Emily, was very efficient so that reasoning did not make sense. The establishment was clean and has a lot of tables. read more

My wife and I go for breakfast on occasion and the staff is always friendly and very attentive the omelets are usually very fluffy and tasty. the home fries usually very good cooked beautifully. Not a diner-car diner, but a diner-ish place. - This is a nice, clean restaurant that looks like it's been recently remodeled/expanded. I went in for lunch, and sat at the counter. The counter isn't that big, maybe 10 seats. It wasn't crowded at all when I went. - I ordered the shepherds pie, only to be told later that they had no mashed potatoes and couldn't make it. The waitress was upset at the kitchen staff about it - "How come no one checks this stuff!?". I got a chicken tender sandwich instead, which was all right. - The sandwich was ok - crispy chicken, warm flatbread, nice dressing. Onion rings were big and not overly greasy. Ceasar side salad was nice. - I wasn't blown away by the place, but I had an OK lunch. The food was good enough. The place could use some character, or some business, for that matter! - I'll probably be back to try other items on the menu. ---- * UPDATE * Their shepherd's pie is AWESOME. It's PERFECT. Had a good experience other than the fact they would not bring glasses of water to the table, only bottled water. I think that is pretty tacky forcing us to buy water. One plate we ordered was an egg sandwich. Asked for over medium on toasted bread and came over easy on untoasted bread. Anyway, I do recommend the place. Nice people and good food. Met a friend here for breakfast and waited in line for a booth. The prices were higher than I liked for diner food and it was simply ok. I was expecting 5 star and was a bit disappointed. Parking was easy but there are two entrances so I looped around to check in and put my name in for a table. The waitress was fast and very friendly. I got a check in offer for a soda but since it was morning I asked to see if I could get a coffee but it was a no go. Oh well. I do want to go back and give it another try. read more

Had Breakfast here on 2/23/14 based on a recommendation of a friend. The double entrance was confusing, there should be a sign on the back door saying exit only, entrance around the corner. Once we found the correct location, we had about a 10 minute wait to be seated, not bad. Once seated the waitress was prompt and attentive. My lady friend order a cheese omelet with side of bacon, the side of bacon was 4.99, I would say over priced. I ordered the bacon and eggs. The best thing about the meal were the home fries, tasty and cooked good. The omelet was flat, not fluffy as a good one is, my bacon and eggs only warm not hot. When we went to this diner, I assumed it would be like most diner's where the only gluten free options available is eggs and home fries... but I was quickly mistaken. They had a full gluten free menu that included gluten free pancakes and toast as well! I was so excited about this that I had to order almost everything off the menu (even thought that meant I had to box up and take most of it home for later)!!! Place SUCKS. Ordered online and the lady told me I had one bag on the table so I took it and left. When I got back I realized the whole order wasn't there. When I called, the lady on the phone said it wasn't their problem because I ordered online and to contact the online ordering service. When I went to do so, I realized the online ordering service was their website. I called back and the girl was extremely rude and told me it was my own fault. We've been going to DW every weekend regularly for years. Great classic diner choices but they are particularly good a cooking waffles just right. Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Be sure to ask for real maple syrup! My wife and youngest also rave about their corn muffins, which they always order grilled. Ordered the hash and eggs... Asked for it BURNT. BURN IT MEANS YOU BURN IT UNTIL IT IS CRISPY AND NO LONGER RESEMBLES ALPO DOG FOOD. My two eggs came out cold, but perfectly cooked, and the hash was bone cold and looked like it had just been slopped out of a can. GET IT TOGETHER, DW DINER!!! I had to update this review based on my brother and his families experience on a recent visit to NH. He called me on the way over to my house and he asked what breakfast place I would recommend in the Nashua/Merrimack area...I suggested DW Diner knowing he was bring his wife and her 3 children (ages 12, 14 and 17) and knowing they're picky West coast people. He called me immediately after eating and said the boy (12 years old) loved the food so much he ate everyone else's leftovers. My brother, who is even pickier than me, said he enjoyed the meal very much and would like to go again. This local-centric spot offers typical American diner food for breakfast or lunch. Seating was ample with no wait, clean with standard decor. The omelette I ordered came with a different cheese than I requested. Considering I waited about 25 minutes for it, I said nothing. the eggs were that thin, folded griddle style, almost like a crepe. I got a bad home fry, tasted like rancid fish. The food was pretty bland overall, and service took a wee bit too long.
